Dark Messiah was so much fun. I kept the broad alive so she would have to live under the protagonist's rule with his demonic cock sock. Forced to face her failure as he enslaves the world and rules with an iron fist for a hundred years.

Not gonna lie, Ive spent more time playing heroes 5 with my friends than 3. All because I figured out how to mod, and every time we gathered wed play for about 2-3 days straight on a giant map with a different mod to keep it as stupid and unpredictable as possible. To be fair to Heroes 3, I did drop art school to play as a necromancer with my friend who played demons. Wed conquer the map and shake hands. Good times.
This really is a wonderful game all in all; my 2nd favorite in the series, right behind HOMM2. It's a lot of fun despite its flaws, and its visuals hold up well even today IMO. Definitely glad you mentioned the Heroes 5.5 mod; it takes the game to that next level of polish and solid gameplay and is a mandatory download as far as I'm concerned.
HoMM 5 is a pretty wonderful game. Because I have incredibly low standards, even the story got me interested, between the queen's reaction to her husband's death, and how the demon lord responsible for it entirely gets away with tapping that happily ever after, to the expansion's shift of the griffin empire into satanic facism. The game's different enough from Heroes 3 and 4 that it manages to stand on its own right, the haven town music is even better than HoMM4's chaos town theme, and yeah. Thank you for spreading the good word on this game.

The game's ACTUAL plot is about one man's quest to protect his waifu. Everything else is besides the point. Saving the world of Ashan from the unending hordes of demons has to happen only so he can have his waifu back. There are other main characters, but none kick quite the same amount of ass, (besides maybe the tree fucker, who has to take down the HOMM 5 equivalent to the Lich King) or get two campaigns to themselves. Almost everyone in Ashan worships some dragon god. You don't need to know about any of them, but you should know that Malassa will provide you with rare lewds and secret info about the Illuminati's plans. No other dragon will empower you to fulfill your deep♂dark♂fantasies of being a (sex♂) slave owner AND a pale, cave crawling mage ninja. All the cool kids love destruction magic exclusively, and so should you. The soundtrack (of the vanilla version at least) is incredibly OK and amazingly decent. Go listen to it right now until you can write a thesis on why your chosen town theme is objectively superior to all the rest.
Shame you forgot about the most fun part of the in-game story: almost all of it happened, because one demon wanted to smash queen. So he killed her husband, abducted her, then he turned into goth elf, became whole goth-elven tribe leader and went to kill lord of the demons. Then he and the queen went together far away to make love and abandoned both their kingdoms, which resulted in succubus taking place as queen and absolutely wrecking human empire.

That Yu-Gi-Oh OP was a goddamn masterpiece
The game's ACTUAL plot is about one man's quest to protect his waifu. Everything else is besides the point. Saving the world of Ashan from the unending hordes of demons has to happen only so he can have his waifu back. There are other main characters, but none kick quite the same amount of ass, (besides maybe the tree fucker, who has to take down the HOMM 5 equivalent to the Lich King) or get two campaigns to themselves.
Almost everyone in Ashan worships some dragon god. You don't need to know about any of them, but you should know that Malassa will provide you with rare lewds and secret info about the Illuminati's plans. No other dragon will empower you to fulfill your deep♂dark♂fantasies of being a (sex♂) slave owner AND a pale, cave crawling mage ninja. All the cool kids love destruction magic exclusively, and so should you.
The soundtrack (of the vanilla version at least) is incredibly OK and amazingly decent. Go listen to it right now until you can write a thesis on why your chosen town theme is objectively superior to all the rest.

Shame you forgot about the most fun part of the in-game story: almost all of it happened, because one demon wanted to smash queen. So he killed her husband, abducted her, then he turned into goth elf, became whole goth-elven tribe leader and went to kill lord of the demons. Then he and the queen went together far away to make love and abandoned both their kingdoms, which resulted in succubus taking place as queen and absolutely wrecking human empire.
