Dash cam has saved me from two red light tickets. Clearly entered while the light was green, but didn't make it through before it turned red. WTH does the officer expect you to do, back up lol?
When I was a kid growing up in the near west suburbs of Chicagoland a trucking company called Keenan Transit company in Historic Melrose Park Illinois they use to haul double stack of train wheels from the manufacturer Griffen wheel in Bensenville Illinois to Electromotive in McCook Illinois where General Motors built those new and rebuilt older locomotives So I saw those loads many times growing up but when Teamsters local 705 sent me over there for the EXTRA board they were not doing too many of those loads any more as a Matter of fact My DAD in his career at his employer only got sent to Griffen Wheel twice in his long career with a flatbed Cartage competing company Thank you for listening
I was coming back from Sturgis SD last summer in my ole wrecker and a RV caught a gator in front of me.. did all kinds of hate and discontentment to that RV. Including rupturing the black water tank!! 🤢🤢🤢
Yeah, that's one of THOSE lights...two truck maximum plus any 4 wheeler who can't see the light because she's too close to the truck. Love the sound of your turbo spooling down. I run 7.3's for my hot shot truck and daily driver. Both are automatics and my daily driver is straight piped. Under the right conditions I can get the straight piped one to sound similar. Hoping for a semi someday...it will have to be an OLD truck, though. Something reliable you can work on yourself!
Hope all is well with the fam!! Thank you for takin the time to do these videos i hate my life an wife an this is the only peace i get other than 5 10 hr shifts at work lol😂 j/k
train wheels without axles or bearings. a slight oddity. interesting to see just what they can put on a truck and the trucks that haul them around, thank you for doing the job you do!
Hey Steve, just some "useless info" for ya: That first load of train wheels was probably on it's way to a rail maintainence facility, as there arent too many places that "turn" rail wheels, and make them round again. The second load of rail wheelsets, which includes the axles, were probably on their way to the machine shop to be removed, so the wheels could be turned. Basically, one load going in, the second going out. But glad to see you still out and about with Orwell, and can't wait to see that Detroit diesel finally get rebuilt and put into Orwell! Look forward to the next video from ya! Stay safe, and keep on truckin'!
It’s a feed mixer Steve. It’s used to make total mixed ration equal parts hay and silage and some straw to bulk it out. Some dairy farmers have their own recipes they wouldn’t share with their wives lol My uncle is a dairy farmer in Scotland and in the spring and summer his cows are mainly grass fed but in the winter he supplements TMR. I’ve made many a mix in one of those things (much older lol) in my youth!
Those train wheels didn't have the axles attached so they were Bieng either sent to be resurfaced or headed back to either St Louis (BNSF) refit shop or Paducah KY
Out of all the places I've heard, Pilot is the most pricy and the most underhanded when it comes to treating the companies fair. Alot of them refuse to use Pilot as their preferred layover spot because there was a big lawsuit against them where they were cheating the trucking companies out of fair fuel prices to the point where they got sued and convicted in criminal court. Hey look, if you have to tow out that rundown half wide they left in the parking space at the back of the pilot lot, go ahead and drop it in their big boss's front yard and let him figure out what he's going to do with it since it was on his property and technically is HIS responsibility.
I’ve used a mixer similar to the red one, it was PTO driven. The one I used was prehistoric, you would dump the hay and feed in the top and bag it as it's discharged from the front. I guess you (can?) use it to spread feed, but I really can’t say.
There’s a young farmer on TH-cam channel, “10th Generation Farmer” who uses one exactly like that one to mix a variety of feeds and molasses and then he feeds his dairy cows directly from it 2 or 3 times a day in their free stall barn.
You have it right. Its a feedmixer. Sillage, grass, and star mixtures with whatever other grains or nutrients they want to put into the feed. Mainly dairy and beef cattle.
Steve, why do most of the drivers we see in these vids wear shorts & flip flops! Here in the UK most of the companies make their drivers wear safety boots with steel toe caps & mostly have to wear high vis vests, I used to have all that & a uniform with company logo. Anyway great vid bud look forward to the next one! 🇬🇧👍🏻👏🏻
Most likely there just Parked for the night or rest of day and they decided to get into something more comfortable and will change before they get going.I do that when I get home from work . That’s my guess. But your right there are plenty of drivers that drive that way. I would never drive a semi like that. That way if there is an emergency I’d be prepared.
Traffic lights are not timed with a truck in mind I can’t tell you how lights I have to run cause there is no way to stop when your loaded pretty heavy even if you try you won’t stop until your into the intersection far enough to just go ahead and go through
3:46 In my country, if slow vehicle sign is visible, it's illegal to drive faster than 45 km per hour (about 25 mph or something like this) even when slow vehicle is on trailer.
exactly right on that mixer, cows require a mix of nutrients called TMR (total mixed ration) its made of grass, grains and proteins, vitamins and minerals. its only used for dairy cows because what a cow eats directly affects the milk. thats why cows cant eat garlic because the milk would taste like garlic.
There are a few times when its not feasible to roll coal but there is no benefit to doing so, it is "unburned" fuel going through the cylinder(s) and out the exhaust.
Yeah i know that place well (live in Indy) the flying J a bit further east on 70 is a million times better. That and the roadranger at the same exit both have full buffet's i believe.
New railroad wheels are also shipped on flatbed trailers. Why when it takes 2 weeks for the railroad to deliver a car and a truck 3 days which way are you going to use when you need them asap.
You can even enter the intersection on the yellow in my state. It's considered 'running a red light' when you cross the plane of the intersection AFTER the light turns from yellow to red.

That second load of wheels wasn't used. They're just mounted on axles. In fact, 2 of them in your video didn't even have any rust! They're just frequently left outside until needed.
its a TMR mixer they put chopped up hay grain etc. in and it mixes it up for animal feed primarily i suppose it could used for other things but thats the primary here in dairy country
My brother is an engineer with BNSF out of Galesburg, IL. He says there are people who are such rabid railroad fans that the crews call them “Foamers”. I guess we have them in trucking too, people who see a chrome plated large car and start foaming at the mouth… LoL
Steve!!! Thank you for all the work you put into your channel and for your many services to our country sir. I can't be the only person the only person that caught the C.W. McCall "Wolf Creek Pass" reference...am I? Too funny!!! I had no choice but to go and listen to it. ;-D
I’m really curious on how you mount your camera’s, and How do keep them charged? I had just One go Pro and it would always die extremely fast. Within an hour.
there is a pilot truck stop in Pa. @200 miles from the Pa./NJ state line. you pull in for fuel, then you have to climb a little hill to get out. if you're maxed out weight wise, its a bitch to get out. i was lucky never had that much weight, but it was a load they considered high risk. it was the reason the shipper specified that all loads west were to travel 200 miles before stopping. never had good parking, even getting into a rest area, with open spaces, was rare at 10pm and i was dead tired at that time, so did a dangerous thing parking on the side to the entrance to the rest area, but i made sure that all my tires were on pavement. no sliding into tje gully for me. lol
I refuse to stop at that PILOT and the one located just down the road at exit 10 at Eaton, OH. they’re both really small Exit 123 Spiceland/ New Castle is much better
Large feed mixer it is for feed out to cows and stock you are correct there organic dairy man use one if you want have a look it’s a small one the the one there you find them on you tube to
That’s a heavy load you got I find it interesting that you have to pay for parking just to park your truck at a truckstop I remember when my dad would travel in the states and I would go with him and stop at the 76 truckstops never once did he have to pay and they were all over the United States I think it’s sad and pathetic how these people treat you guys I’m 47 I miss those times in the truck stops I remember I stopped aTone truck stop that had over 2000 trucks parked 26-floor hotel for truckers. It’s been a long time, but we need to get back to where the culture used to be and Push out this pathetic garbage that truckstops are doing now to truckers be safe, and again that load is heavy, but your Peter Bill has the torque.
That mobile home is probably for the lot lizzards!!!🤣😂
Dash cam has saved me from two red light tickets. Clearly entered while the light was green, but didn't make it through before it turned red. WTH does the officer expect you to do, back up lol?
Stop in the middle and wait for the green 😃😄
They expect you to pay up. They're revenuers, after all
I wonder how long someone could live in that old trailer before they noticed.
The motor sounds so sweet. It certainly has a lot of torque.

Lol. I won’t ever even go into that Pilot. Place is a dump. That was some beautiful coal you rolled this morning. 👍👍👍
FSC Trucking, Loved here in England !
Back when I worked at an farm equipment dealer, the slow moving sign on back of the equipment would be covered when new items were delivered by truck.
Nice video Steve it's interesting what you'll find in a truckstop parking lot 👍. Still enjoy the camera angles and the music in your videos stay safe.
Straw, Corn Silage hay mix them to get a good mix for cows.

I knew an old trucker who drove B Model Macks from coast to coast in the 50's pulling reefers you had to put ice blocks into. Now that was trucking.
Man you got jokes.your a wizard with cinemaphotography. Great driving skills .keep up the good work.
The cool look wearing slides 😂😂

Showing a truck driver wearing boots as I'm sure most do wouldn't get many viewers....

Coz most of the trucking companies will hire justabout anybody nowadays...No standards anymore 😌...
Some cowboy
There is a sub culture not your old school American Truck Driver who are becoming increasingly prevalent in this business here.
Feed mixer or tmr is another term used for em they even sell stationary tmr mixers
Traffic lights are not timed with a truck in mind I can’t tell you how lights I have to run cause there is no way to stop when your loaded pretty heavy even if you try you won’t stop until your into the intersection far enough to just go ahead and go through
Steve ur doing a great job, but I enjoy all ur vedios👍😄
@2:09 that looks like Cleetus McFarlend's toterhome... @4:28 that radio chatter cracks me the F up :P
Man you sure are busy don't over do it
Orwell needs a wash job …those nice polished doors on back need cleaning along with stacks and well the whole thing really 😆
It sounds fantastic, I love it.
Be careful in Chicago. The yellow light is 5 milliseconds long. Money maker.
3:46 In my country, if slow vehicle sign is visible, it's illegal to drive faster than 45 km per hour (about 25 mph or something like this) even when slow vehicle is on trailer.
They don't really care about that to much here, why? Because most morons who manage to get their license over here don't even know what it means.
Subscribed to All of them Brother Steve 🤘🏼🤠🤘🏼🤠
Nice coal shit bro. Hell yeah. Good video. 👍
thank you for share the video

I did enjoy the coal show, but I have no knowledge of trucks and I am assuming it not good for the long run. Say safe and enjoy the roads.

Labouring like that puts on a good smoke show but it knocks hell out of crank bearings and does no favours to the driveline components.
Hopefully all is well with mom and dad STEVE?
Lugging a 3406?? Gutsy! But I'd never do it!
They usually mix Hay/grass and Silage in those things for cow feed.
