I like your explantion. I am having issues with the same setup with male fitting the last option with copper with poly pipe. The stiffner is keep popping out lately and water floods
Do I need tape or paste when going from stainless steel threads to the plastic pump heads threads?
I'm trying to transition from 1" IPS pipe to 1" PVC pipe and want to use a compression coupling with a clamp screw, but have had trouble finding one. Any help with this issue?
Can you tell me where I can purchase a Ford pack joint fitting to adapt 1-1/2 ads polyflex waterline to a standard american 3/4 water meter box?
It’s worth noting that Pex-a pipe used with expansion fittings also do not have a decreased inner diameter, so the friction loss is probably similar.
I need to run some water pipe to my garage. I can get 3/4 " 200 or 250 psi (100ft) for the same price. Would one be preferable? (Mayve 200 is easier to work with?)
All the manufacturers of these type of fittings say "NEVER use a pipe wrench!", but you said to use a pipe wrench. They want you to use flat sided wrenches because pipe wrenches crush to grip.
Can u use this fittings on CTS poly natural gas pipe?
Do you reccomend a ford fitting or extra long barb in submersible well pump applications? Great videos, thank you!
Barbed fittings are the only thing I would use to hang a pump on - and no deeper than 100 feet!
Dude, thank you so much. I've watched so much of your stuff and it is so helpful. I'm just all alone out here doing everything solo and wouldn't know shit without yea.
@@ben33045 Thanks Ben! We got your back.
IDK if it’s a good idea, but I apply silicon lube to the rubber olive within the compression fitting. I always either lube straight and seal pipe threads also.
Wheat determines if you use a pack joint or a quick joint ? Also can pex b fittings use under ground ?
They can be. They make a special “tape” you wrap around the fitting and compression ring to protect it from corrosion.

When using a Ford compression fitting you don't use any teflon tape or pipe dope on the threads?
On the PEP connection there is a gasket that compresses as you tighten, so thread sealant is not used. On the NPT connections thread sealant is required.
While it does not help the seal, I sometimes use a little pipe dope to help get an extra quarter turn or so. Not necessary though.
Compression fittings don't rely on the threads to seal. Only tapered threads generally get tape or dope.
How can I connect 1" Polyethylene pipe to my 1" pex pipe? I can't find an adapter.
You'll probably need to use 2+ fittings to make the connection. PEPxNPT and NPTxPEX with a coupling would work.
You can just use one of the mcdonald couplings as long as youre using stiffeners.
Get the poly by female and tread in a PEX Female to male adapter
Isn't "poly" ambiguous? Polypropylene, Polyethylene, Poly vinyl chloride... Which is it?
Do not use pipe wrench on ford brass fittings smooth parallel jaws only
Channel locks work just as well
