    What was the reason you drilled the hole on the tube ?

    So I discovered an issue building my sending unit to the specs u did got mine all together and running. It’s been about a month and then I lost fuel pressure little by little. Thought I had a bad fuel regulator. Turned out the main fuel line from the pump to the sending unit had pushed itself off the sending unit feed just enough to drop pressure below 20psi. It fell off as I was removing the sending unit I used the plastic clamps that came with the fuel pump. My remedy is going to be putting a longer length of fuel hose so that even if it slides down it won’t come off and I will use fuel injection clamps this time

      Thanks for sharing your experience and what you’re doing to resolve your issue. I actually never used the plastic clamps that came with the fuel pump. You can see the metal fuel line clamps here th-cam.com/video/rC87nXIP48Y/w-d-xo.html

    Do the connectors inside the gas tank have to be sealed inside of the tank? Or just quick connectors?

      I wouldn’t use quick connectors or butt connectors on wiring inside the tank.

    Great video Josh. Got a couple questions. I've read in a few places that you can only use compression fittings for fuel line if the hard line is aluminum??? Also, I read on one of the forums that using an EFI sending unit for an 85-87 El Camino in a 22 gallon tank will cause an inaccurate fuel level reading since these sending units were designed for a 17 gallon tank. Keep us posted on your progress. I'm in the middle of doing this for my 87 El Camino but I've got a sbc and going with a Sniper EFI. Thanks for sharing your build.

      Thanks for watching! You can use compression fittings on aluminum or steel lines, doesn't matter. I had the same question about the 22 gallon tank. I talked to tech support from gbodyparts.com and they were running the same tank/sending unit. I was informed that the only difference was that when your fuel gauge shows empty, you'll actually still have 5 gallons left. Seemed like a bonus to me. Good luck with your build!

    Your not concern that fuel will leak out the hole with the grommet in between the wires?

    • @CarsandJoshee

      Not really. Those wires are pretty tight coming through the grommet. If it leaks, I’ll just squeeze some gas resistant sealant in there. Probably should have done that before mounting it...

    Do you think the original 1/4 return line is big enough of a return since it does change to a 5/16 going into the tank?

    • @CarsandJoshee
      @CarsandJoshee  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d switch over to the 5/16” line for return.

      @@CarsandJoshee Thanks for the reply. Will be doing the same mod on my sending unit. Thanks for showing how to!
