- In this video I give a basic overview of color management and color space transform in Davinci Resolve. both routes can be useful with color space transform offering more accessible flexibility with your color science while color grading. Don’t mind the disk disruption due to export issues😅
Additional Notes:
This is usually necessary with LOG footage so if you have RAW footage in your timeline, Davinci will (in most cases) take care of it and you can leave them be.

May I suggest that you only choose Gamma 2.4, if you are using a very expensive Reference Monitor mainly used by professional colourists. Those monitors are set to Gamma 2.4.
For most people, they grade on a computer monitor, laptop, MacBook, or similar. These display screens are set to Gamma 2.2. Also TH-cam displays content to Gamma 2.2 because most people view content on phones, iPads, tablets, computer screens and TVs which are set to Gamma 2.2.
It’s a subtle difference but will make a huge improvement, when grading and using the scopes.
Gamma 2.4 is designed to view content in a very dark room
Gamma 2.2 is designed to view content in a bright space such as a house, office or outside.
Gamma 2.6 is designed for a black box environment such as a cinema watching movies.
Noted. Thanks for all the input!
@@AparicioCo Resolve is getting more popular, especially as you don't pay monthly for it. And more people are doing tutorials on it.
I wish you well with your channel. And who knows you may get paying gigs out of this from companies who like your work.
Thanks, man!
Thank you once again! ❤
No problem!😁
I love your explanations
Thanks🙌Good to see!
So, why is this better than just letting Resolve do the colour management?
thanku 👍👍👍👍
No problem!
Hell yeah
🙌🙌
lets go!
!!!!!
What is the point of putting a cst in the group pre node rather than just in the clip node tree?
It’s more of a preference thing. Of course you can create you two CST nodes in a clip then paste it on all the other clips with the same camera. But if you rather add all those clips to a group and add your input CST it just might make things feel a bit more organized.
❤
💪🏻
I'm pretty new to color grading, but I've been making sandwiches with powergrade node trees for my different source cameras (Sony A1, DJI d-log etc. ). you don't really talk much about pros and cons of CST sandwich approach vs color space managed , can you talk more about that in another video?
Okay nice! Yeah I will definitely do that!
Hey Buddy can you give us some raw footage for experiment?
Yeah in some of my earlier videos with myself in the thumbnail I have practice footage in the description. They were shot on the Panasonic GH6.👍
what is arri? I have a sony, so not familiar
Arri Amira is a Cinema Camera. So for a Sony your Input gamma and input color space will be Sony S-Log.
@@AparicioCo yea inuse sony s log 3 gamut. Love your videos
Sweet. Thanks!
