Y’all need to bring a shop to the south
All these people from southern states are like, dang that's alot of that. When in reality its really not bad for being a old northern vehichle
Yup this could be way worst
Lifted my 2000 Yukon XL with the same RC kit in January. Went from a soccer wagon to a legit hunting truck on 35s. Best part is I can leave the ice chest full of beer in it and not worry about it being stolen. Good vid fellas.
How many miles did you have on your Yukon?
Went from living in northern Ohio to southern Texas, it is mind boggling the difference in vehicle condition. You see 30 and 40 year old daily drivers down here with zero rust and up north you see 5 year old cars with rust around the wheel wells
I live in Columbus. My 2007 Dodge is getting the usual rust at the bottom of the doors, around the wheel wells and the the inside of the rear bumper.
We call that salt😂
Danggg, I have a 2002 Dodge here in Texas and I do not have a speck of rust anywhere 😂 I cant imagine this much rust
Welcome to Wisconsin!
Is normal up north. I live in the Mid Atlantic region, and on my 2001 dodge I had to cut the rear leaf spring bolts out with a sawzall as they wouldn't turn. At all. Similar with most of the front control arm bolts.
The worst i got is rusted out fenders and rocker panels on my 1990 in ks 😂
1:40 I just installed a leveling kit in mine, and about a month before I installed it, I soaked the torsion bars in kroil. Did it again 2 weeks before. When it came time, I took a 6 inch metal rod about an inch in diameter and they came out pretty easy. I should also probably mention it's an Ohio truck so everything on it is usually siezed.
When I did the lift on my 06 Silverado, I just replaced the upper and lower control arms all together. No pressing ball joints, and you can just cut the lowers to get the torsion bars out. Plus then you have new control arm bushings if it is an older truck.
1999 Super Duty F-350 lifted/leveled with new RC front leafs. Install went pretty smooth except for the fact I had an "early 99" front axle on a "late 99" truck - causing serious trackbar issues.
Hahaha I came here looking for advice on my truck. Your idea of older is different than mine. I have a 55.
Great video none the less.
As a 34 year old with a 98 2 door tahoe I was on the same page as him. A 55 must be sweet though.
1999 GMC Sierra with rough country leveling kit... new cv axles and pitman and idler arms after 12000 with it installed
Just undercoat your vehicle every year and try and wash the salt off like once a month during the winter. No/minimal rust.
In Ontario, you can wash it after every drive in the winter. Salt kills everything.....
Jensen nope salt kills everything
Jensen but it doesn’t tho lmao
Undercoating can help but can also trap moisture over time and actually end up doing more bad than good in the long run
Glad I don’t have to deal with rust being in southeast Texas
On an older truck, you should plan on replacing wheel bearings, ball joints, u-joints, and steering with the lift. If it doesn't need it, you'll have some extra money.
I got a 94 Chevy I’m doing a frame off restoration/build on and I just bought a $3,100 FTS lift kit dipped in chrome for her!
Wow! Make sure you get that beast added to our gallery once you get it done!
customoffsets.com/add
Have you ever had rust bits fall in your eye? Hurts like the dickens. Happened while lifting my old 93 OBS
on my 2008 1500 i replaced all the front end suspension before i lifted it. well worth it.
I have a 2001 Chevy Tahoe on a 6 inch rough country with 20x14s and 35s, I sanded off nearly my entire undercarriage to bare metal no rust and under coated it, and it looks about good as new underneath. I do live in Florida though and rust want so bad on it
The factory wax coating was definitely better than paint if its newer than 2000. Good luck though
I loved the video. Much like all the other ones. You guys are amazing and I was happy to see my 1992 Chevy Silverado on you guys gallery. If it ain't too much to ask maybe one day I can be on one of the gallery videos . Ir is a white 1992 Chevrolet Silverado 20x12 gear big blocks and 35-12'20 gladiator x comp mts. I am only 18 and I work my butt off to make it look the way it does . Thank you so much guys for all your help and support with j your videos
Appreciate the love! Send a link to your gallery post in an email to tv@customoffsets.com and theyll see if they can get you on the list!
I'd like to see that too. I have a 1996 k1500 374k mile truck and crack all bolts myself.. all north. new hampshire/maine. This is after welding a frame that was overloaded. 96 and later the alternator thinks its way through the amps, rust is not really an issue on obd2. I'd like to see pre 96 in the rust belt getting a lift kit. We have NO survivors.. it was the alternators frying the hell out of the salt reaction.
lol, "Older trucks" and he showed us a 2000 GMC. Boi We need to define what older is. Older is pre-OBD II.
Bruh, thats a 19 year old vehicle. If you live in the rust belt, anying pre-OBD2 is usually a vehicle someone stored and has hidden in their garage in winter.
My 88 K3500 has zero rust. Southern vehicles are hard to come by
Yeah I was hoping that this video would be on an OBS Ford or Chevy or a square body. I'm going to be lifting my 95 f150 soon so.....
@@joshuapallas9947 Cool! I have a lifted OBS but I didn't install the lift. I like the BDS site and the different selection of lifts for the OBS F150.
Skitter302 fr i came bc i have a 86😂
I lifted my K1500 chevy 4x4. It cost me $650 CAD and a i heck of a time dealing with rust and siezed parts. But it looks deadly now and drives amazing with new ball joints tie rods and shocks.
Glad I live in az, no rust even on my 78 Chevy
As an old guy, I have to laugh at the idea of a 2000 model being an old truck. But carry on! And thank you for the video.
I have a 2wd 1999 5.4 Ford F-150 has a 10inch CTS lift dual hoop shocks dual shocks rear air bags in back. 40x14.50R24x14 Anthems Nitto MTS has a 3.25 Borla Atak true dual dump. Over 450hp 6speed
What kind of transmission? Zf6?
Please do more videos showing lifts being put on like do a whole playlist
Very well put together video, loved the b roll
2003 Dodge Ram noo rust well maintenance has a lift I wish you guys were closer I would for ya to work on my truck I’m in Texas !
I want a lift on my 97 k1500 I'm curious about how much a shop should charge me to install it? My truck is rusty like this one as well
Best bet would be to ask around local shops and get an estimate of what they would charge to install the lift on your truck!
I have a 1992 with a 4in lift kit under it
The rust isn't that bad considering it has been sitting outside. Seen ones worse than that in Northern Maine in the 5- 10 year range.
Heck yeah let's see more videos like this!!
Not gonna lie. Being down in Arkansas. Rust isn't really a thing. This blowes my mind seeing this much rist
Even in Kansas this is about average rust
I feel like “sitting outside for the last 20 years” translates to it just wasn’t garaged. Undercoating a vehicle when new pays off. Annual touch ups on a creeper aren’t a bad idea either.
Bruh I just lifted my 99 2500 today and I came across all theses problems. Why didn’t you guys make this video sooner.!
Bring a shop to SoCali!
Good thing you guys sell shirts and stickers and wheels and such online because I doubt you make much working on these rusty pieces because of flat rate. I guess you probably have high shop rates to put your name on these "builds" so as not to lose out on all the profit of installs on popular but aging rusty vehicles.
We usually dont do older rusty vehicles, this one was mainly for educational purposes. As far as our rates we are average if not lower than most shops in our area
The more truck I see like this the more I love my state of California
Keep up the good work bro y’all stay killin it🤘🤘🤘
Appreciate it!
If you have a solid front axle you’re home free. I got a 94 ram that I’m doing a long arm kit on and aside from having to relocate a couple things, it’s going swimmingly.
Dukes Up Dan doing the same on my 97 right now and my grinder has been used heavily
james smith for mine I’ll only have to grind two plates flush with another surface and cut off a bracket, other than that, everything is virtually bolt in.
Hello i have a question about suspension lift kits and which one would be best for my truck? I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 V8. These are the ones im currently looking at , Max Trac 7-Inch Front / 4-Inch Rear MaxPro Elite Suspension Lift Kit with Fox Shocks (02-08 2WD 5.7L RAM 1500, Excluding Mega Cab) ,Debating against a Rough Country 6-Inch Suspension Lift Kit
(02-05 2WD RAM 1500)
Looking to lift more than 6 inches
With great suspension
Why is that Yukon so low in the front? Does the lift kit require you to crank the torsion bars to achieve 6 inches of lift
I have an 1995 Dodge Dakota but a rear drive, I want to max the payload for a 6x12 food trailer, & I sell fruits also. It has an 5.2 so is good enough but the gas... lifted kits are the answer but the wind resistance is no good.
Can you do a video on lifting awd Denali. Got an 03 I've been wanting to do
If we get the opportunity to we will!
Lifted my 1992 dodge W250 ! Was t terrible but wasn’t super easy either
I would’ve at least wire wheeled the crossmembers and ifs mounting with it all apart and sprayed it with some kind of undercoating or rust encapsulator. Totally worth the extra hour or 2 of labor imo
The customer chose not to have the added expense of the undercoating, but yes it is recommended.
That's crazy, if you go through all that to put in the work for them to totally disregard that blows my mind, would've looked way cleaner completely sanded down and the extra time taken to clean all that up and painted black for a better outcome.
of your gonna lift a 12 year old truck pass 180k miles you might as well change ball joints and steering components cause of you have play your gonna way more with bigger tires
I am wondering on all makes and models of trucks and as she movies how often do you need to replace the ball joints on those kinds of Vehicles
It honestly depends on what you use it for. My truck before I redid my whole suspension only had one bad ball joint after 380xxx kilometres. Id replace everything if your lifting an old truck
I want to see you guys put a lift kit on a 2002 ford ranger 2 wheel drive love this video..🙏
why do that kind of work and spend that kind of money on a 2wd?
Check out our 2wd Ford Ranger lift kits on our website! Just make sure to re-enter in the year of your specific Ranger!
www.customwheeloffset.com/store/suspension?sort=popular&year=2003&make=Ford&model=Ranger&drive=2WD
Hello! How do you think this set up sounds? 24x10 OE replicas on 35s , with an 5inch rough country lift . 2wd truck thinking about keeping my stock tire rods & ball joints because I only have 99k miles . Anything I’m missing ?
Hi guys, I have a 2002 Dodge Ram pick up 1500 slt four wheel drive you don’t cover a lot of dodge trucks on your channel however what suspension you recommend for this truck oh, I’m a budget thanks
I have a 06 f150 I changed the rotors and bearing I want to put 6inch lift on it what are some other things i need to change or check on before adding a lift
Check out all of your suspension components to see if any are worn and need replacing man! 🙏🏻
What’s the setup on this? I have the same truck and love this setup
6" Rough Country lift kit
20x12 Hardrock Crusher H704
285/50R20 Atturo Trailblades
You can check out this setup here! www.customwheeloffset.com/buy-wheel-offset2/H704-201237144GBM/I0045707/hardrock-crusher-black-milled-20x12-44-atturo-trail-blade-mt-lt285-50r20
Danggggg. Glad I’m from Louisiana not one bit of rust
What size of tired did you install on the Yukon? Thanks.
Just did a 6 inch lift on my 05 silverado
Well will the lift kit at least slow down the speed of how fast my suspension parts wear with just a leveling kit because the only reason I bought the lift was to get my ride angles right
lifting a 99 dakota and i feel this video way too much. and im from michigan lol
so what does a lift like this cost for a shop to do?
Does the rc lifts have ball joints and new controll arms that come with it the 6 inch lift
If you have a truck like that would a 3in lift be ok? I have a 1998 dodge 1500 4x4.
We can't say for sure as we have never seen your truck. It will also depend if you have rust etc.
@@CustomOffsetsTV would I be able to email you what it looks like underneath especially email it banker?
How does it drive now???
can you tell me why they don’t make lower control arms for my 98 two door chevy tahoe 4x4????
Great Video!
Thats why I undercoat the shit out of our trucks ...here in Canada shit rusts like crazy
very true and great video
Sooooo don't live in Wisconsin?
Damn for some reason after watching this video I wanna go get at tetanus shot
😂
What brand air hammer did y’all use for the torsion bars?
Straight front axels are the way to go
What was the wheel and tire size on that Yukon?
20x12 -44 Hardrock Crusher H704 (previously DWG offroad) wheels wrapped in 285/50 Atturo Trail blades. You can check out this setup here!

My 87 chevy and i feel this too much im from CT btw
I lifted my 1983 k10 and it took like 8 hours and I didn’t have any problems
Josh Roberson ya I have an 84 and I’m going with the 6 inch lift
zack denniston make sure to get extended brake lines and a sway dar drop kit
I'm guessing it's a southern or desert truck.
Jesus Christ yea Mississippi but it came from Canada it’s only got a couple of rust spots
Why not remove the rust & undercoat the parts while you was in there???
Remove the rust? You're joking right
LSx life nope not at all people up north do it all the time when dealing with older or used cars/trucks... wire wheel & sand down to bare metal then use something like POR-15 or the new STEAL IT because most of what you see is surface rust form salt & snow
They dont do it and that would be to time consuming for them especially this Yukon the shits everywhere and I know I wish I wouldve got my truck undecorated when I bought it
The rust was excessive on this truck, it would not only be time-consuming but very expensive and there would like be thin sections if we went that route, though it is possible to do on a truck that isn't quite as bad.
I live in Kentucky and had to import a Jeep from overseas to get a clean rust free xj
should have just went a few hours south...
Or California
Yukon is a truck?
What kind of brakes and Rotors are good for lifted trucks?
www.powerstop.com
Yeah, those upper control arm bolts seize inside the bushings and it makes for a really fun day with the cutting torch.
I used a giant c clamp and pushed them out when I did mine. Took me like a few days to figure out though, but I didn't have to cut too much shit.
Can you do a video on a 1999 Dodge Durango SLT lift pls
Omerta Argue my 02 Durango has a 5 inch lift but the original owner did it back when he first got it off the lot
Rough country should make a lift kit that is already rusty looking. Then when its installed it will match the rest of the truck. Obviously those choosing not to scrape rust and undercoat the vehicle.
I saved a lot of time doin the back
How long does the average install take on older vehicle
Install really depends on the vehicle, but typically at least 2+ hours more than book time.
I wanna see how to do a lift on a 1991 gmc sonoma st
If we get the opportunity to we will see what we can do!
@@CustomOffsetsTV awesome thanks!
size wheels on that yukon?
Those wheels are previously known as 20x12 -44 DWG Offroad DW13 , But DWG has recently changed over to Hardrock so you will be able to see the updated version of these wheels here!
www.customwheeloffset.com/buy-wheel-offset/H704-201297144GB/hardrock-crusher-20x12-44-custom-wheels
Can you build a lift kit ?? I have a 2001 nissan frontier amd want a 6 inch lift kit but cant find one anywhere please help
RedNasty7 yea
It is possible but not recommended unless done by a professional or someone who has experience with suspension fabrication.
This actually helped lol
Whats consider old? 07?
Depending on who you ask youll get different answers on what is considered "older"
Its safe to say that this almost 20yr old Yukon would be considered older
Dam that's alot of rust on a 2000
Please show us a lift on these same year trucks that have autoride
You pay double for install in Wisconsin lol 😂
watching this made me respect the fender rust on my 1990😂
This ain’t even rusty compared to my 94 f150 and bronco. They can show you what to really expect. When you can’t see the head of the bolt through the scale we will talk about old and rusty lol
You don't have the Ford rust prevention mod on them? My 95 is basically rust free due to power steering pump spraying fluid on the rails and oil leaks from the engine.
Joshua Pallas lol I do but they work to varying degrees. My pickup had a bad oil pan seal for a while and was totally undercoated for a while after I fixed it
Glad i live in Florida lol
U know those swamps u dirty fucks love to ride thru yea they have salt
That’s 6 inches!? On a Yukon it barely looks a few inches from stock!
Yes its a 6" Rough Country kit. GMs tend to sit lower stock than most other truck brands.
The newer trucks sit very low. 12" lift on an older truck is a lot. 12" on a newer truck is just to fit 40's.
Spends money on expensive lift, yet lazy enough to let the vehicle rot away. That thing belongs at the scrap yard
Indecisiveblake clearly you don’t live in the north
I though they meant old as in 1976 old. This yukon is basicly brand new
The older trucks are better than the new ones....there I said it.
This is why I live where swamp ass is real.
dude what the fuck? I'm from florida and I have a 97 accord (i've been the owner since 2003) left outside its whole life with zero rust. I have questions:
1) is salting the roads REALLY necessary?
2) why aren't vehicles made with parts that don't rust?
I wish salting the roads wasn't necessary but it does help 😭
That rust is disrespectful 😧
Not here to watch the video but to answer. Hell. Hell is to expect when lifting an older vehicle if you live anywhere that remotely uses salt on the roads. HELL.
