I went to New York Fashion Week!! The simulation is getting weird. The first episode of my three part series on NYFW follows my first day at fashion week as I go behind the scenes at Alice + Olivia, interview models, designers, and hairstylists, and attend the Proenza Schouler runway show. Yeah I definitely felt weird about the models on sets when Ashley mentioned how it felt like she was at a zoo. It was like the models were just objects on a set that people came to look at and it feels super weird. Those girls must be so tired having to stand in heels for so long in basically one position.

I was in the green set, and it wasn’t too weird. There was an assistant kind of floating around giving us water or asking if we needed anything. And standing in heels for so long isn’t too pleasant but it wasn’t so bad. 😂❤️

One of my favorite things about Ashley is how she still maintains this "small TH-camr" vibe, and I say this in the best way. Like she's definitely matured and grown but she's managed to stay true to herself and still relate to her viewers and stay real even though she's grown so much and become so big that she's attending Fashion week. I truly appreciate this channel.
Edit: I mean "small TH-camr vibe" in the best way. She treats her channel and subscribers very much like she still has a couple of thousand viewers rather than millions. Someone said they forget she has millions of subscribers and honestly, same. I've been subscribed to her before she hit her first mil and I didn't even realize the growth she made until this video to be honest.

I recently became a licensed cosmetologist. After quarantine I’m going to get a job in a salon and go to aesthetician school and take a business class along with taking continuing education classes in hairstyling and nails so I can perfect it. I’ve always been creative. I paint and draw and can teach myself to do just about anything creative. I make a lot of stuff and love diys. This video genuinely inspired me. Hearing the models and hairstylist and company owner talk was inspiring. I plan to do big things with my life. I may even take more classes than I already want to.

Ah this reminds me when I used to be really into fashion, I started memorizing brands and models, and had dreams to work in the fashion industry. But my dream kinda died out when I started thinking how hard it was so be successful in such a competitive Industry. This video kinds lifted that dream up again for me, even if I will never follow through with it.

Honestly Ashley you do NOT get enough credit for the insane editing talent and construction of these videos. They're full-fledged short documentaries. The whole mood setting with the vintage b&w look (even though it covers the camera-faults, it's really a win-win situation), the chapters you create, the way you guide us through the whole experience... you're a film maker and it shows. Thank you so much for putting all this hard work and effort into these videos.
One tiny tip from one film editor to another: I see your warp stabiliser (don't know if Final Cut uses the same term for this effect) sometimes distorts the background in your images a bit. Premiere lets you alter the percentage and usually 10-20% will already go very far. I don't mean to offend, just trying to help out, one girl to another ;) I'm so happy you got to go to NYFW and I can't wait for the next video!

I got really upset when I heard Megan talk about pushing harder and squeezing some last energy out of yourself when you're already feeling overworked...that thought can be really toxic! Taking breaks and allowing your mind and body to calm down is so important. No industry should push you to your limits to the point where you don't feel comfortable continuing on like that. This is the best fashion week video I've seen. Ashley did a great job with showing what it's like behind all the glamour despite it being her FIRST TIME THERE. This wasn't just a simple flex like "Oh, I got invited to fashion week" with clips of a seemingly perfect world. She actually got to show us that these people once came from nowhere and had to build their career and have their own struggles unlike the common misconception that people in the fashion industry are merely lucky from the start. These aren't just pretty people with expensive clothes. A lot of detail goes into each clothing along with the setup, makeup, accessories and the whole process in general requires a lot of work. It was educational, it was fun to watch and overall great. Thank you, Ashley ❤

I'm happy that Ashley is less self deprecating now. I watched the videos she uploaded like 2 years ago and there she couldn't stop saying bad things about herself every second now it's like every 20 minutes and I really appreciate that because it shows growth

I’m actually thinking about the subject matter of this video in a different way because Ashley put her touch on it. When she’s talking about making these industries real for small town viewers I really felt that. You’re on to something big, Ashley! Your film degree is definitely not going to waste. You have a special talent to show the viewer a new, interesting side to something we all have had our own opinions on for probably years (the fashion industry). As always, really great content. I love how you're able to really ground something as aspirational as fashion to reality and make it seem approachable. Derek Blasbery also seemed very down to earth in the way he explained how the industry has evolved and why. I've worked in fashion for the last couple of years but had recently gotten a little demotivated about not being able to get a job in NY, but these type of videos make me excited to keep striving towards that, thank you!
Your story is very inspiring, because it's basically the same as mine. I live in a small town where no one is involved in fashion. but I have the dream of moving away, and becoming a designer. It makes me happy to know that someone else in the same situation became part of the Fashion world, and gives me a lit of hope. Great video Ashley.

Havilah oh geez do u really believe that😂 i think it could’ve been the LA atmosphere in general honestly. UCLA definitely has a diverse population of students from all walks of life, but being in LA and especially being in a top-tier college can make people competitive. Even smaller universities have that “every person for themself” mentality - just imagine how it is in LA and in a rather prestigious college.
Either way, friendship is a two way commitment, just like all relationships. Sometimes people don’t click, or they just drift apart after awhile. Not everyone’s fake.

the reason why ashley is blowing up and her videos are so so so well made is literally because she went to a really good film school her college experience was not a waste AT ALL and u can see it clearly through her videos and the progression of her videos

Its easy to undermine TH-cam because its a platform for everything including teenage vloggers that just flex their life all the way to a year-long invested indie film project by a broke college film student
I love how truly invested you are when filming a video on a topic such as this. So many influencers just go to fashion week or any other type of event just for clout, you can truly tell how passionate you are about fashion and how you truly want to understand the process of it all.
