VTX 1300 has been a worry-free motorcycle for me. I've had it all these years and the only parts I have replaced are the tires, spark plugs, oil/air filter, and batteries. It's not that difficult to work on and beautiful. VTX 1300 has plenty of power and simple enough to reduce problems, unlike harleys. Well, thanks for all your nice comments.
Thank you for posting this video.. At first i didn't know what u was talking about but after i took apart the carb and looked back at this video..everything made sense..i also missed allot of little things..but i will go back to re-do.. I'm glad someone took the time to do a good video like this.. Saving money is always good.. I'm one step closer to becoming a better back yard Mech..lol..thanks again rich..
This video was a great help Richard. One thing I would suggest is to buy an ultrasonic parts cleaner. I put my disassembled carb in and had to change the water twice with all the gunk that came out of all the little nooks and crannies.
I am new to the VTX family...this helps a bunch...thanks for posting!!! S MODEL SPOKE RIMS WOOOT!!! thats what I went with S Retro!!! Again thanks for the information!!
thanks for the vid. i just got done putting mine back together. my bike is a 06' 1300c. it looked the same as yours. i took pictures every step of the way just in case. before i put it back on ima have to get a d screwdriver
Something I know that has been done by a mechanic friend of mine on a bike with this problem is to pour Techron injector cleaner in the tank & with the spark plugs disconnected roll it over until your sure that it has worked it's way through to where it can desolve the gunk overnight. He said that he added gas to the tank the next morning & rolled it over a few times & it started right up. Since your tank was full I don't see why a small funnel or a spout on a bottle stuck into the end of the hose leading to the carburetor wouldn't work to get the Techron into the carburetor. Unless you can drain the tank.
Right on spammandblogger. Yeah, pay attention how you store your bike. This video will always be on here so if you need this info again in the future, use it as reference. 1EvoX10, VTX 1300 is a great bike. My model is a 2004. Im very happy with it. You can't go wrong choosing this bike.
Hi well done video .. i have a question im having trouble trying to remove the lower bolt in side the air cleaner housing the bolt just turns and i can hear yhe rubber housing turning ...how can i get at it to brake the bolt loose...thanks
wd-40 makes rubber swell . should not be using that and what your adjusting is the idle mixture screw.... thats a cool kit though.. I have the Honda tool for adjusting the stock mixture screw and its a pain.. having it permanently attached is cool
05 vtx 1300 runs only with throttle half cracked or more, cleaned jets, but it has been sitting for 4 years, all fluids changed, blue/grey smoke, will not idle, any suggestions appreciated. I do not have the air/fuel jet removal tool. Can't adjust it.
I know this is an old post, but if it was only rubbing with half throttle, your pilot jet is probably clogged... or it was when you had the motorcycle and the problems
never use the choke on a vtx 1300 it is well known to foul the plugs on this bike it is not a real choke all it ose is dump fuel into carb you will be much better off to just crack the throttle a few times and she will start
I would try getting WD-40 with a straw and spray a small amount of oil, if you can reach, on the threaded portion of the bolt only. Then, using a high speed impact or drill, try to get the bolt to turn quickly to get it loose. If this does not work, then you probably have to figure a way to hold the backing. Good luck.
Take you some allergy medicine before you make your video. Good Information but damn it would of been half the time between the ummmmm. The sniffles and throat clearing.

Joe Hojas, hey, no problem. I should make more videos. Just never had the time. Glad this helped you. Refer back to it if you have to clean it again.
my 09 VT750c2 has the same type carb, and you helped me a lot I just rejetted and cleaned it up... and my name is Richard also thanks Richard.

Good video, everything was well explained. Another good thing to use to clean jets is thin gauge guitar strings.

Try piano wire and pipe cleaners on your jets.
I'm thinking about getting a VTX 1300, 2004. What are you opinions as an owner?
WHAT DID YOU USE TO RINSE OFF THE WD-40?

Hey, He mentioned using a shell casing with a Dent in the side, but I have NO Idea what Caliber to use

My 04 vtx1300 is leaking fuel from bottom of carb

He keeps calling it the 'main' jet replacement from Glenn's vtx, but it's the air flow jet...not main.

No sir, it's a S model. My rims have spokes. R model's great too, but it's an S model.
you don't bleed a radiator when you clean the carb.
actually you do because believe it or not the coolant line runs through the carb to cool it lol
It looks like a R model!
