I’m just gonna stick to organic coconut oil pulling. I really got into it after I got my teeth professionally whitened 3 years ago and the oil pulling has helped me maintained the whiteness ever since then. Also my mouth & oral health has improved dramatically. Still plaque free & feeling amazing on the daily. Oil pulling it’s definitely a game changer as it’s really strengthened my teeth I will continue doing it.
I oil pull with organic unrefined coconut oil, organic clove oil (2 drops) and xylitol. It works like a charm and encourages saliva. It’s a win win. I do it multiple times a day for 20 min and i can see the plaque diminishing.
I've heard a lot of people mention clove oil so I will have to get my hands on some and do some experimentation! Glad your concoction is working for ya, keep it up :D
I am in Ethiopia where black seed oil is produced for cooking also. I find it is here in abundance and much cheaper than some of the oils you recommend. It's working for me thank you.
I've been inconsistently pulling with coconut oil for many years, and just recently mixed in sesame oil. BIG, BIG game changer! I usually have the most plaque build up being my lower front teeth, but not aome much since incorporating sesame oil!
I can confirm that sesame oil works. I used it years ago (no coconut oil, just sesame) and it had all the claimed oil pulling benefits. In fact, I don't think you need coconut oil in the first place, you can substitute for sesame oil, but I guess mixing them will do no harm.
Love the cube idea! I mix 1/4 cup coconut oil (organic unrefined or fractionated), 1/4 cup cold pressed sesame oil with 1T triphala powder and 1T crushed fennel seeds in a glass jar. I warm the glass jar in a water bath for a few hours to infuse the oil with the powder and seeds. Then I place it in a dark cabinet for a few days, shaking it daily. After a few days I strain the powder and seeds out and add a few drops of food grade clove essential oil, cinnamon oil, and peppermint oil and I store in a dark 4 oz glass jar with a pump lid. When I’m ready to pull I simply pump out what I need and swish! Oil pulling is a game changer and has dramatically improved my oral health and whitened my teeth naturally. Really helpful when taking probiotics as they create a sticky film on the teeth but the oil breaks it down and leaves my teeth super smooth and clean!
Wow thanks for the detailed explanation of your process and the quick summary on how Oil Pulling has helped ya! I love the infusion that you are doing and I will for sure play around with something similar down the road. Cheers :D
I use coconut or avocado oil (until it is gone) and I add a variety of essential oils known to be good for gums: clove, peppermint, myrtle, cinnamon, tea tree, thyme, and myrrh. I will choose 2 of the essential oils and use a couple different essential oils the next time. I need to get more serious about oil pulling---I tend to start and stop, repeat.
Definitely add neem extract and essential oils that has antimicrobial, anti inflammatory, teeth whitening, removes bad breath, antibiotic. I had tooth infection and I swished clove oil, frankincense, neem extract and tea tree oil, I never had any swelling and it soothes tooth pain due to the numbing effect of the clove oil. I brush with baking soda with drops of neem extract, it works! HalleluYah, God created these things for our healing and protection against sicknesses, His love and wisdom is so great!
Add: - clove oil and peppermint - cinnamon oil and peppermint. - Lemon oil and peppermint also works well. All are cleansing and detoxifying and really helped keep my teeth clean
Try grinding cloves in a coffee grinder then soaking them in the oil for some time before straining out with cheesecloth. Cloves have anti-microbial properties. Also try mixing powdered activated charcoal. This is very good for creating a synergistic pulling effect.

I’m brushing lightly with baking soda then oil pulling with a grape seed oil & cloves (strained) mixture followed by a turmeric paste allowing it to sit on the teeth 1-2 minutes & rinsing with water.
I like MCT oil better than coconut oil. Smoother and makes my teeth feel better than regular coconut oil. I prefer the flavor. I have used the dripping or juice from cooking a chuck roast. That was the absolute best. It included water and salt. Have you tried doing a saltwater saline rinse. Also have you tried generic table salt vs natural salt like Himalayan salt? Ive used whatever was convenient. Cheap vegetable oil was better than Listerine or mouthwash. However its bottom of the barrel. Olive oil is like medicine or somethings. I had a cut on my gum that olive oil didn't seem to help. MCT oil did help. I am a horn player and get aware of stuff whether I want to or not. Any oil is better than none. Some oils I'm pre sure are used up in the first 5 minutes. Most often I'll take a pull from a bottle in the truck between appointments or on the way to a rehearsal or gig. Very useful in my day to day. I do an oil pull with the drippings of whatever im cooking. Whatever spices usually seem to help.
I'm new to oil pulling. Only 2 weeks in. It is helping with my dry mouth issues and even though I said I would never do it again, the first time I tried it, I have not missed a day since. I love the way it makes my mouth feel. I'm using Castor oil. Supossedly you don't have to swish as long as with other oils and Castor oil supposed to have many more health benefits. I was considering a mix of Castor, Olive and Coconut oil. Any thoughts on that? I love the cube idea. 💡 Thank you for sharing that.
I love the flavor of the higher end olive oils (which I use to make salad dressings and in some cooking) so have been interested in trying it for oil pulling, especially since I've noticed lately that my gums have begun to recede. Sounds like it's worth a shot and if it helps slow down my gum recession, definitely worth it. I'll first try the mix like you've done, only I'll do a 3:2:2 of the coconut, sesame and olive oils in hopes that it cancels out the coconut flavor, which I can't stand. Something that could be done is to mix a large enough batch with the right ratios to fill a full ice cube tray that does the medium sized cubes and then dose it out like that, and then just store the "pellets" in the fridge so they're not overly cold when you go to use it. Just throwing that out as an idea though given that I haven't even attempted it yet.
Sounds good and I hope your own experiments go well! If this is the first time doing oil pulling then I would probably forego the mixture and just do it with the one you like the most (Olive oil) to see if you like the process. Regardless of what you decide, would love to hear how it went for ya in a week or two regardless of your outcome! :D

Haven't tried oil pulling with those before, I'll be on the lookout for em and get a jar and try it out! Have you tried coconut or sesame seed oil before? If you have, how did it compare?
I tried both for a short time before, but i wasn't serious about it. This time, i also wanted to get rid of all the oil i bought to prove my hair. I don't like to waste food. Hehehe.
I like oil pulling with the mustard oil. After I decided to do it, i found out it's done in ayurvedic medicine. It can have an intense tingle, but that seems to have helped me with my sinuses, too!
Coconut Oil had two downsides for me: 1. I couldn't swish it for a long period of time. The consistency and texture bothered me (although I do like the smell). 2. The jar always gets glued shut. I got tired or struggling to open it. I switched to olive oil.
I’m using coconut oil with wheat grass juice powder and a few drops of oregano oil as I’m trying to help a small cavity . I might decide to add peppermint and clove oil.
@@chinazanwokolo4212 I switched to using a xylitol gargle after sone research . See my gums growing back slowly and I feel like my cavity is healing as it’s less painful. I think the coconut oil pulling worked too but it’s easier to just gargle or chew xylitol gum after each Meal
I have been doing O.P., now for over a week, using cheap and cheerful Sunflower Oil. I have been shocked how clean my mouth feels after done this. I add a drop of Peppermint Oil, to liven it up.
Great video and love your ideas of mixing oils to get full benefits and I am going to add turmeric and clove to mine. Thanks for sharing your experiments.
I'm considering giving oil pulling another go once I have a disposable bottle I can use because I refuse to spit in my bathroom garbage to lessen the risk of having to clean it later. I'll probably just use unrefined coconut oil, tho using MCT Oil or Fractionated Coconut Oil came to mind since it usually stays in a liquid form unless chilled; however, I'm pretty sure it'll still clog my drain during these cold spells if I spit it out in the sink. As for mix-ins, I would think using turmeric powder would just stain your teeth yellow since it can stain your sink and clothes that color as well. I've been thinking of adding peppermint extract to my oil for when I swish, but I haven't decided if I want to go that extra step. When I looked up the spelling of "fractionated", Helichrysum oil came up for oil pulling which seems to be anti-inflammatory and helps heal wounds. Since I just want to help fight back a little of this plaque on my bottom front teeth, I probably won't bother getting the new oil and will only oil pull until said plaque is gone. ...I also learned that "plague" and "plaque" or just one spoop/curve different from a disaster and a flossing session, lol, ...I need to go to bed.
I spit it out in my green bin (which is also known as the organics bin) that I then store in the freezer. It's a great way to not have it get all nasty...! Peppermint oil sounds interesting, it would for sure give more of a fresh feeling when oil pulling. Wonder if it has any specific health benefits! *puts it on the research list* Haha, yes. Make sure to floss and not *gloss* over this habit otherwise you will feel *gross* :D
I'm thinking on doing it while having a shower, like, we have body oils that we just wash out.. so maybe doesn't have much problem..? I'll use olive oil or any other oil besides coconut oil because yeah, for sure it will clog the pipes.
Thank you for your brevity while sharing a ton of useful information. How long do you find is optimum? I generally swish for 4-5 minutes, which happens to coincide with the time it takes to shower. It's a convenient way to work it into my schedule, but I wonder if longer would be better. Also, I wonder if Turmeric might stain your teeth yellow? I find it can really stain some surfaces, so just be careful. You don't want a cheesy smile ;)
I swish for around 15-20 minutes. Like yourself, I do just tack on other tasks like showering, browsing my phone, cleaning etc and do think that getting into the double digits swishing duration gives extra benefits. For science, I tried to swish for as long as possible and I would say that there is a diminishing return after 15min + your cheeks will just hate you if you go for too long lol. I've heard that turmeric is something people add to their oil pulling but I have not tried it yet. I doubt people would do it if it stained teeth but who knows, maybe it does and ill learn about that when I explore with it haha.
@@brewinghabits I heard that some people brush their teeth with turmeric because it should have a whitening effect like charcoal. I have to read more about it
Video correction: most oils that are not cold pressed are made using solvents. So they are full of chemicals such as hexane. (Expeller pressed uses heat so no chemicals but not as much nutrients.)
Thank you so much. How are you storing the little blocks? Do they stay hard in the fridge? Also I believe turmeric would stain your teeth. Have you thought about bicarbonate of soda perhaps? Or is it too frothy?
I also use the Kirkland coconut oil and I add doTerra clove essential oil to it. Clove oil is known to be good for oral and teeth health. QUESTION: I heard that oil pulling over 2-5 minutes can be harmful. Since the oil pulls out plaque and other toxins, the longer you swish, after 2-3 minutes, you are essentially adding the toxins back in. Have you read any research on this? Would love to hear your opinion. Thanks!
You are supposed to rinse your mouth with water and then brush your teeth after using olive oil for Oil Pulling. That solves your problem. I use olive oil for 20 minutes almost every morning first thing.
You really should reconsider cooking with olive oil (except adding it in cold dishes). It has a low smoking point, so it can not be used in hot temperatures without harming your body.
I tried olive oil, too thick. Coconut is so pleasant for me. I had been using strong mouthwash, holy burning mouth, Batman. This is a routine I look forward to doing every day, no burning.😊😊😊
I followed your videos, thanks so much. I do this twice a day. 1 teaspoon Coconut oil plus a dab of toothpaste together. I love the taste. Love the clean mouth in the morning and before bed. I swish 20 minutes or more each time. ❤❤❤. Also what do you think about using vanilla extract ,a drop or two with the coconut oil.? Or other flavorings ? I tried that too, makes a fresher mouth.
Glad its working well for ya! I haven't tried any additional flavorings (since I quite like the plain coconut flavor) but I don't think it would be a bad thing to do. Just to mix things up a bit!
When are you supposed to do oil pulling? At night after brushign your teeth? In the morning? What should be the routine? 1 a week or 1 a day or every other day? Thanks for the help!
Some basic research would let you know most recommend oil pulling first thing in the morning before brushing your teeth. Of course it should be done once a day.
Is the kirkland brand of coconut oil legit? Apparently some of these don't have the certified organic/non-gmo sticker in them so I presumed these are fake despite it saying it's cold-pressed, extra virgin, etc.
I haven't dug into it but so far, the batches I have had (2 big containers) have been good. I also would hope that a big company like Costco (where the Kirkland brand is primarily sold) would be on the ball with sourcing and selling an authentic product.
Lol! I used organic unprocessed coconut oil for oil pulling and my teeth started decaying. OMG, I had no clue what was going on, because everyone said how amazing it was. I had zero doubts that it'd work, yet I was in crazy pain. My teeth looked like crap. After the 4th day, I brushed my teeth with toothpaste and my teeth felt almost all the way better by the next day.
I made my own MP (mouth pulling oil) after using DIRT premade mouth pulling oil. About $35 for an 8 ounce bottle which I think is expensive. Yet the mouth pulling oil I made with coconut oil, clove, peppermint and another oil (I forget) was barely ok after using Dirt’s pre made MP OIL. My home made MP oil was yucky! If you can afford DIRTS mouth pulling oil, I would definitely recommend.
Hahah, what would be your best guess as to what oil pulling is? Would love to hear your random guess from the amount that you watched xD For more context, it's a oral hygiene routine where you swish around oil in your mouth for 15-20min. It breaks down plaque, improves your breath, removes bacteria and improves your gums. Think of it as a slow working natural mouthwash!
What about black seed oil? Nigella sativa? Strong taste may make it a no-go, but supposedly lots of health benefits from thymoquinone (TQ) content. Thanks!
Sorry to see canola oil and soy oil not tested, being among the cheapest. If we use expensive food oils, it seems a shame to be spitting them out. Any input on which oils are nutritionally better/ worse if we swallow after pulling? Grape seed for example?
You talk about the nutrients in the different oils. Are they absorbed through the mouth or do you need to swallow some/all of the oil to take advantage of the nutrients?
I had similar thoughts and the answer I came to was that it's somewhat similar to creams and shampoos. It has all these nutrients that even though don't get consumed, do get absorbed/improves the efficiency when oil pulling. From trying all these oils, the higher quality ones that were either sesame, olive or coconut outperformed the other oils and I think that difference is atleast a bit attributed to those extra nutrients.
I am using Guru Nanda advanced formula puling oil (Teeth&Gums) . I have been using it for about 2 moths , daily 20 min. I am still not sure about the effect . It is too expensive , about USD 40 for 8 fl.oz (237ml)
so its sounds like the oil does good job getting unwanted cavities and gingivitis while not bonding because of saliva allowing to get a clean smooth mouth. so you should floss first then do oil pulling.before brushing teeth with tooth paste of choice to get full potential.
Good information thank you. I am thinking also of the beneficial properties and also something that removes plaque and could possibly help heal gum disease. I came up with Chia seed oil (cures everything but death) or black seed oil, aloe vera, castro oil and flax seed oil. All have medicinal properties. The only one that is really hard to pull is the castro oil so thick. I think I like the chia seed and aloe vera combo the best. Honestly have not been doing it that long and I am very impatient so have not seen any real results. Know it is a no harm combo but would like results. If you would like to be the official tester to report on results that would be super. Thank you for this report.
Far more efficient than to take any oil exclusively for oil pulling will be to take 1 tablespoon (= 1/2 oz = 15 ml) castor oil in your mouth and mix this there with your saliva for 30 minutes - so realizing oil pulling - before swallowing this one you will not have any problems with the taste of castor oil for the receptors concerning the taste of castor oil are not in the front of the mouth but at the back. In this manner castor oil will lose its bad taste, it will become runny and will will no more irritate the mucosa of the stomach.
Coconut oil has a really low liquid/solid point. My apartment is quite hot so the coconut oil turns in to liquid. During the winter days, it becomes solid. So just aim to get organic cold pressed coconut oil. If you cannot get that then get any coconut oil that you can get your hands on, the difference is IMO there but not big enough to justify the price at times.

- Lemon oil and peppermint also works well.

I use Coconut oil, Activated Charcoal, and Turmeric.
Do you mix it all together then hold it in your mouth? Could you tell a big difference in how white it made your teeth?
How do mix it together
Try grinding cloves in a coffee grinder then soaking them in the oil for some time before straining out with cheesecloth. Cloves have anti-microbial properties.
Also try mixing powdered activated charcoal. This is very good for creating a synergistic pulling effect.
I thought about doing this with my Monkey Brand ayurvedic tooth powder and coconut oil. Nice to have affirmation! =)

Love this! 😂❤
*puts it on the research list*
Haha, yes. Make sure to floss and not *gloss* over this habit otherwise you will feel *gross* :D
@@brewinghabits Hehe, that last bit made giggle 🤭💙
Forgot to ad that the ice cube trick is brilliant! I have a silicone tray with small containers that will be perfect. So smart!
I have to read more about it
I am hearing 15 minutes is a good amount of time to oil pull
Video correction: most oils that are not cold pressed are made using solvents. So they are full of chemicals such as hexane.
(Expeller pressed uses heat so no chemicals but not as much nutrients.)
Excellent idea the oil cubes!! thanks
Thanks!
It would be interesting to know if this would affect blood cholesterol levels.
You are supposed to rinse your mouth with water and then brush your teeth after using olive oil for Oil Pulling. That solves your problem. I use olive oil for 20 minutes almost every morning first thing.
You really should reconsider cooking with olive oil (except adding it in cold dishes). It has a low smoking point, so it can not be used in hot temperatures without harming your body.
opposite is true. Olive oil is less harmfull when heated than other oils. It has higher smoking point.
I like the idea of mixing and freezing the oils. Do you have to store them in the freezer, or are they shelf stable? Thank you
Probably will turn back into a liquid
I tried olive oil, too thick. Coconut is so pleasant for me.
I had been using strong mouthwash, holy burning mouth, Batman.
This is a routine I look forward to doing every day, no burning.😊😊😊
Castor oil I used worked wonderfully
I add neem powder to my sesame oil and coconut oil
I was curious about butter and ghee. I'm guessing beef tallow would have a similar result? Thanks for sharing!
When are you supposed to do oil pulling? At night after brushign your teeth? In the morning? What should be the routine? 1 a week or 1 a day or every other day? Thanks for the help!
I'd like to know too! Though, they say it's a mouthwash alternative, I presumed we should oil pull after brushing.
Some basic research would let you know most recommend oil pulling first thing in the morning before brushing your teeth. Of course it should be done once a day.
Oil pulling & then brushing daily
I use 75% Sesame oil, 25% Mustard oil and a pinch of Baking soda and swish for 20 minutes during a meeting ;)
Troll
I made my own MP (mouth pulling oil) after using DIRT premade mouth pulling oil. About $35 for an 8 ounce bottle which I think is expensive. Yet the mouth pulling oil I made with coconut oil, clove, peppermint and another oil (I forget) was barely ok after using Dirt’s pre made MP OIL. My home made MP oil was yucky! If you can afford DIRTS mouth pulling oil, I would definitely recommend.
It is actually funny to watch while trying to understand, wtf is oil pulling in the first place
Hahah, what would be your best guess as to what oil pulling is? Would love to hear your random guess from the amount that you watched xD
For more context, it's a oral hygiene routine where you swish around oil in your mouth for 15-20min. It breaks down plaque, improves your breath, removes bacteria and improves your gums. Think of it as a slow working natural mouthwash!
@@brewinghabits it was already clicking that it was about fixing issues with some residue, but I was thinking about some equipment cleaning
**Strings along a jar of oil to my bike** Now that's some good oil pulling action :D
Lots of good info
hi I use Sesame oil with small amount of crushed cloves in it
Love this idea!!!
Can I use simply natural coconut oil? It says 100% coconut oil on the bottle although most people use it for cooking
What about black seed oil? Nigella sativa? Strong taste may make it a no-go, but supposedly lots of health benefits from thymoquinone (TQ) content. Thanks!
I haven't tried it before but if I come across it, I will for sure pick it up and give it an oil pulling whirl!
I use liquid chlorophyll along with oil pulling. This is beacuse it has been shown to be an "internal deodorizer"
Works like a charm!
Sorry to see canola oil and soy oil not tested, being among the cheapest. If we use expensive food oils, it seems a shame to be spitting them out. Any input on which oils are nutritionally better/ worse if we swallow after pulling? Grape seed for example?
You’re never supposed to swallow after oil pulling because then you’re literally ingesting all the junk the oil just pulled out
You talk about the nutrients in the different oils.
Never swallow it
I am using Guru Nanda advanced formula puling oil (Teeth&Gums) . I have been using it for about 2 moths , daily 20 min. I am still not sure about the effect . It is too expensive , about USD 40 for 8 fl.oz (237ml)
I made a mistake and ordered toasted sesame seed oil. I'm tight fisted so I'm going to use it anyway.
I would consider omega 6 content as a huge negative also the process and stability of the fat - ie saturated fat would be best
Some people swish with wheatgrass juice
Tak to jest podobno bardzo dobre.
i use mustard oil, and i like it.
Hello sir, you didnt include castor oil in your experiment or wouldn't you recommend it?
Can I also use baking soda as a mouth wash after oil pulling ?
Damn I was hoping avocado would be the winner that what we cook with at home
This is the first tine I’ve heard about oil pulling. Can I use castor oil?
I haven't tried with castor oil but give it a whirl! The tried and tested oils are sesame seed oil and coconut oil for oil pulling.
I'm a fan of oil pulling with organic castor oil from a glass bottle!
On coconut oil did you melt down the raw version or did you use the liquid version??
I think Sesame seed oil has more vitamins minerals and nutrients than coconut. So I thought it would win.
one last advice, try mixing in essential oils, i use rosemary and oregano. Look that one up and thank me later.
I added cloves
Mastering everyday living brought me here.
Niceee! At the end of the day it's still the same Paul that replies to comments on both channels :P
Organic Coconut oil is best. Imho and experience
Wouldn't turmeric stain yellow ?
How about rice oil? Rice water is good for skin...
Can sesame oil make your teeth a bit yellow?
How about castor oil for pulling? Thoughts please
so its sounds like the oil does good job getting unwanted cavities and gingivitis while not bonding because of saliva allowing to get a clean smooth mouth. so you should floss first then do oil pulling.before brushing teeth with tooth paste of choice to get full potential.
Have you ever tried olive castor oil?
Bro try musterd oil the hot and spicy oil
I use Organic Black Jamaican castor oil...
Can we use advocado oil?
Yes. He prefers the other oils ( on his right side) like coconut oil but yes you can use avocado oil
What happens is the coconut oil says cooking on the label but it’s still say virgin coconut oil still good?
Does it really make your gums return?
Can you tell me if it's ok to do it with Mustard Oil ?
if i want whiter teeth should i use sunflower seeds?
Far more efficient than to take any oil exclusively for oil pulling will be to take 1 tablespoon (= 1/2 oz = 15 ml) castor oil in your mouth and mix this there with your saliva for 30 minutes - so realizing oil pulling - before swallowing this one you will not have any problems with the taste of castor oil for the receptors concerning the taste of castor oil are not in the front of the mouth but at the back. In this manner castor oil will lose its bad taste, it will become runny and will will no more irritate the mucosa of the stomach.
Do you do this routine every day?
Yup, I do it every single day. It has gotten to a point where it is similar to brushing teeth. If I miss a day then my mouth feels bleeeh.
i found coconut oil, but it is solid and it gives me a gag reflex when using it. Is liquid coconut oil really pure coconut oil? Where do you get it?
Coconut oil has a really low liquid/solid point. My apartment is quite hot so the coconut oil turns in to liquid. During the winter days, it becomes solid. So just aim to get organic cold pressed coconut oil.
If you cannot get that then get any coconut oil that you can get your hands on, the difference is IMO there but not big enough to justify the price at times.
you can sell that oil contraption
