Looks great. Funny thing is I foiled like six of these exact blanks. I’m going to try a couple painted like this for me and my brother. Very cool pattern. Thanks.
That turned out really nice. I’m gonna try the idea about coating the bait to start with a smooth finish on some of my repaints that are not smooth. Thx
Excellent job! I really think it looks awesome! Thanks for sharing as always. Hope you and your family had a great Thanksgiving my friend! Keep up the good work!
Great job on the foil … I struggle with the wrinkles … I can never get my edges to lay down enough … even after uv resign or epoxy I can always still feel the edges … it drives me nuts…. I’m gonna try the technique that you done here… thanks so much for sharing!! Happy thanksgiving!!
Happy Thanksgiving! Yeah some lures don’t foil as well as others. I chose a relatively flat sided lure for this video. Looking back it may have been more helpful if I foiled an S Crank body instead. My only suggestion would be; start in the middle, as you work your way up and notice the wrinkles starting very early (low down the side of the body), get the scissors and make little stress relief cuts right down the middle of the wrinkle until you get to the flat part. Buy the cheap tape, it’s just as shiny as the expensive stuff but thinner. Hope this helps!
Try with thinner foil like from chocolate and gluefor varak-angels milk. Seams are almost invisible.Thats for baits like on your video with "carving"-relef .Vent foil is good for stamping the relef is more visible.
Thanks! I got the stencils from mapleairbrushsupplies.com (Artool Texture Fx), the mesh I believe was an Amazon purchase but craft store around the holidays get some ribbons with interesting patterns. Enjoy!
Have you ever done a holographic or foil technique for plastics.i always wonder how swim baits or shad type lures such as the Tsunami or storm company manufactures these
I have not dabbled in the soft plastic realm yet but I love that look. I think it’s just a piece of cellophane placed in the mold before pouring/injecting. Unfortunately I don’t know much more than that
@@havenlures I have checked some u-tube videos out since asking you about this process. I worked on a charter boat as a first mate than later got my Captain's license. We fished on the Chesapeake Bay and it's tributaries primarily for Striped Bass, or what we here in my home state of Maryland refere to as "Rockfish". Anyhow a Fellow Captain was really putting it on the rest of the fleet and kept it a secret about a certain shad he was using. A Tsunami Holographic six inch shad without the lead head built into the shad body is what the shad ended up being. What a game changer this was. It's no be secret now it's probably something else.Chartreuse was the best color.
I mainly use the Iwata Revolution CR (roughly $120 CAD) and Creos 270 (around the same price) and I’ve been very happy with these. They’re durable, easy to clean and, in my opinion, do a good job all around. Master airbrushes are a cheaper option and I own a couple of those as well. They spray well but not as durable. Thanks for the question and I hope this helps. If you have any more questions please don’t hesitate to ask!
In my experience, UVLS doesn’t build up high enough on the lure to cover the seam. Resin goes on nice and thick with one coat. That being said, with enough coats, I’m sure it COULD work. But it would take a very long time to get a result you’d be happy with.
For UV resin I can use it many times without issue. Because it only cures with UV light I can just wrap cellophane around it to keep dust off and it’s good to go next time. With 2 part epoxies they’re just one time use.
@havenlures Bring us along if it works out. I used erasers to polish copper electronic circuitry, and they are good for clogging within their porous rubber. So keep a sheet of copy paper or brown bag near to rub out the contaminants unless it works to your favor. I was captivated watching the lure come alive. I wasn't expecting the airbrushing. I liked & subscribed 👍🏿🔔
The foil laid down way better then I thought it would. Great looking green color you mixed up. Good job !!
Thanks! I was quite pleased with that green as well. The foil does a decent job, just needs time to be worked thoroughly
This was my favorite video yet. Really liked the commentary and creative use of a household item. Keep up the great work. Your videos are awesome.
Thanks man! Really appreciate it! That’s what I was going for, keep it simple and accessible
Thanks for your video ❤. You are doing excellent work. I have really enjoyed your channel.
You’re absolutely welcome @Justicecustomlures! Thank you so much for watching, happy you appreciate it

That’s fantastic! It’s a pretty great little blank. Let me know how the pattern goes!
That was a beautiful paintjob and really nailed it with the tiny fin! Not the easiest thing to do. Nice one! 👊⭐
Thanks buddy, much appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!

This is perhaps an amateurish question, but is there any advantage to foiling a lure as opposed to giving it a metallic basecoat after primer?
My brother, thank you very much for all your great efforts. We learn a lot from you. My regards to you 👍🏻👍🎖️🥇
Hey buddy, that you so much for taking the time to watch the video, means a lot!
Just found your channel!! This is great !! Very informative and helpful thank you keep up the great work

Oh yeah! Chocolate foil would be great!! All great ideas, thanks for sharing!
This is fascinating! May I ask where you get your stencils and mesh? I'm a mixed media artist and need those in my life!

Thanks bud!
Where did you get the stencil you used at the 7:30 minute mark..?
It’s the Artool Texture FX 2, comes in a set of 3. Thanks for watching!
@havenlures Thank You, found one and have it on order
Work of art!
Thank you!!
What's a good gun to use on this hobby?

Can you use uvls instead of the resin

what thinner to clean the resin on the brush?

@@havenlures thanks
good job!
Thanks!
That’s one way for sure!
One of many! Probably the best thing about painting lures…there’s always another way
Seems like the eraser will do a better job laying the foil in.
Maybe, I’ll give it a try next time! Thanks for the suggestion!

Ahhhh! I see, so the eraser is doing double duty. Smoothing the foil and giving it a polish too. Does it matter what kind of eraser you use?
Dude I caught an 8 lb bass on a strip of bologna. They will hit anything
You should start a channel where you only catch fish using sandwich meat!
@@havenlures
That was 40 years ago lol . That video will take a long time
Did you have any mustard or mayo on it?
Instead of scissors i would use a single edge blade .
Yeah that could work nicely too!
The pencil "rubbing" is called burnishing !
Yup!
Did you kid mind you borrowing their children's scissors?
🤣 Don’t tell her
You need better pair if scissors.
🤣 Yup! Those scissors are for cutting Lexan, thought if it could cut that it should cut tape easily. Mistakes were made.
You can’t do the foil, and trying to teach? Come on dude
Okay
@havenlures You know you've made it when the haters and trolls arrive. Beautiful work man!
LOL! Thanks buddy, you are so correct! I appreciate the support
