    I've seen most of these tips in your other videos, because I've watched them all. But, it is great to have an all inclusive instructional video on certain topics, like this and you weight & balancing, that is searchable for easy reference if the future. Thanks for taking the time to bring this information together Zim!

    Thank you for sharing your skills! I don't really foil my lures, because I`m more of a carving guy, but I'll definitely try it. Your lures look very nice!

    I think the 4” is used for dryer vents and sold as such at Walmart. The 2” roll is usually for HVAC and in another aisle.

      I've been trying a bew brand off of Amazon because people always ask where to get it, so I'm trying to find something a little more universal. Honestly, I haven't found any that don't work.

    Have you ever tried to mold a foiled bait? I wonder if it would it pick up on the detail in the foil i.e. scales, embossed dimples etc.

    • @zimmtex

      I have not tried that but I'm sure it would work. Interesting idea!

    Im using foil that used for taping leaking cooking pot..loytape brand..but a bit thinner i think..and for scale i just use my hobby knife that have the knurling part and just roll onto the foil since i only making small lure like 4 to 6cm only😊

    • @zimmtex

      I have done that too! It's an especially great technique for smaller lures. Thanks for sharing!

    Great channel mate! I’ve just started foiling my lures but I’ve been using kitchen foil and contact adhesive and some are pretty rough! , the finish with the tape looks a lot better and easier! I’d thought about getting some aluminium tape look’s like I definitely will now! How would faux gold and silver leaf work? im thinking about getting some to try if it doesn’t work out for hardbody’s I’ll just use it on rod’s. also I’ve been accumulating metallic and pearlescent mica’s and abalone shell and luminous pigments to make some lifelike and wild colours

      Thank you, I'm glad you found some inspiration! I haven't messed with gold and silver leaf too much, but maybe you're on to the next big thing! Good luck to you on your lure making journey!

    Very cool! I'm working on a foil transfer method for my glidebait, but your method looks way easier and cleaner haha.

      Nice! I'm sure there are a lot of other methods that work well, but this has been good for me. Good luck on your glidebait!

      @@zimmtex Oh yeah I'm sure there's lots as well! Hoping the foil's shine, and lure action make up for my lack of expert detailing skills lol. I got a replicable v.1 prototype figured out that I love. Gonna try 2 more configurations, then make a master production mold in the next coming months. 🤞

    I’ve had problems w the painting peeling after spraying over the foil. Do you do anything special to keep the paint from peeling?

    • @zimmtex

      The biggest thing for me is foil preparation. There may be traces of machining oil on the foil from the manufacturer. Before painting I put on gloves and wipe it down with a clean paper towel and rubbing alcohol. I haven't had any peeling using that method. It could also be the type and thickness of paint. I use Createx paint or alcohol inks and paint in thin layers, letting it dry between passes so I don't get as much drying shrinkage. Hope that helps!

    • @AnxiousBaits

      Never had that happen. What foil are you using?

  • @johnnikolaidis5705

    Hi, I have a question what is the purpose of using foil on lures

    • @zimmtex

      It gives them a lot of shine that is hard to get, even with chrome paints. Many bait fish are very reflective, so this is an easy way to mimic that. I don't use foil on all my lures, but it's a good aesthtic. Thanks for asking!

    • @AnxiousBaits

      In the case of mine it gives them depth you could never get with an airbrush. Takes more time but the results are very worth it.
