I guess for the MTV generation or millennials that we're not use to musical artist writing their own songs and singing them as well as playing instruments... His masterful control of his audience and connection is why we loved him so . He taught us his rules of music . He was so charismatic . Oh he was mesmerizing in concert! Thank you !
So underrated as a guitarist....learning one instrument good enough to play to the masses is hard enough, this dude played the piano, drums and others besides singing....one exceptional talent!!
He was also an absolutely BADASS bass player. Being a guitarist myself, I do have to say that maybe he was underrated as a guitarist by non-guitarists, but NOT by guitarists. He's Nile Rodgers on steroids...

Personally I think he’s perfectly rated as a musician, I mean he played for the Super Bowl. You can’t get much bigger than that.
Underrated by who?! He’s always been recognized since day 1 all around the world as a genius. Not sure whatcha talking about.
What lol you may be deaf
Prince was a joke like these comments. like listening to a monkey explain trig
@@critiqueeverything3297 I study music this wasn't a good example prince wasn't an accomplished musician he was a spectacle
There are artists that can't be ranked. There can never be another. Those who grew up with him in his prime (from when he started till the day he left us) are incredibly grateful.
That would be me,been listening to Prince, since 1979 and he never disappointed me at all
That's the perfect way to explain the artists of this calibre
Loved this guy throughout my life, now I'm turning 54 wish he was still here.😢
me too I’m 51 this year ❤🎉
Bro 🇮🇹53yo & still rappresenting in my ;)purple Life ..
Uf! 2024 esto sigue siendo una joya!
Absolute PURE GENIUS on every level! Miss him SO much! 💜🕊💜🎵🎶🎤🎸
You know I've heard that saying perpetuated but I'm still looking for the genius side... I guess for the MTV generation or millennials that we're not use to musical artist writing their own songs and singing them as well as playing instruments... I guess it would be genius compared to the low skill needed to produce rap and hip-hop music which is basically someone else's music sampled for the beat synthesized fake music auto-tune digitally enhanced voices. All created in the studio. I guess compared to that Prince would be genius per se but so would all the bands I listen to and we're even more popular than Prince...... that sang wrote and played their own music and became famous before MTV and music videos ever existed.
Yes!!!!! And versatile. His 🎸 work stands with the best.
@@matooleyobrien2918 While I dont agree with what you say, I totally respect your right to be completely wrong :)
@@fiftypeehead James brown better dancer and singer better songwriter..Internationally Famous through pure talent and hard work BEFORE MTV....Prince made famous from MTV. NUFF SAID
I miss him
Prince performs and simultaneously gives a masterclass on singing on pitch
they were not in time, that was the problem.
@@namelessclown5798 I always thought it was they weren't loud enough.
@@DJdext it is because they weren’t loud enough. These other comments are just trying to sound more informed or something
I'm pretty sure she just meant that Prince was singing on pitch so well that he displayed the right way to do it, cause not every famous singer can really sing this well. But I could be wrong
@@namelessclown5798 No their pitch was off.
His hands...just glides over the strings effortlessly...ultra smooth..
I love this clip of him. It shows how playful he could be. He has always been described as a perfectionist but here he’s just playing around. The world got a whole lot dimmer when we lost him. RIP PRINCE.❤
Love his interaction with the crowd he so playful it's adorable 😊
Ain't nobody better
i was there sat at the front , it was fantastic, ill never forget it
You are so lucky! I would have loved to see this accoustic concert!!!
Yeah sure...and then you woke up! Just kidding 😉 serious, you where there? Amazing!!

Prince was simply a genius.
Yep 🎉
Perhaps one of the greatest musician of the last 50 years.
Contested by Michael Jackson
Perhaps. But there were also the Beatles. There was Freddie Mercury. ALL TOP OF THE LINE. We don't have to choose a "best."
@@sirdjorgostarcopper8735 I pm
Prince did it all and at the highest level. Vocal talent. Writing talent. Ability on every instrument. And if he never wrote or sang a word in his life he’d still go down as one of the greatest guitarists ever.
@@TheVeek192 But if we did, it would be Prince.
When you’re having a bad day, put on your earbuds and get lost in the magic of Prince. 💜
He Throws in those fills in the right places while singing as natural as person pouring coffee. Lol
Stevie Wonder once said in an interview, "As long as Prince is making music, I'm not worried."
Hes up there still making music.
Heck yeah, he is@@MrHBox
One of my favorite performances of Cream from Prince. Love it!
@@TomPlotagon I'm everywhere! lol
Lawrence Cowley I don’t comment on every video, but I have to do it when they are this good! Cheers!
Hi, what's up? 👁👁 was human like us, was he not? But, he was, & 4 - ever will always, be truly a real God send too all!! Thanks 4 our , Artist! Have a great day ya all & an even better weekend. 👁💜👁 on...🐾🐱🐾
Its amazing!! I remember this performance and it was so cool and funny.
ME 2!!!
Showmanship. Crowd control. Just a guitar & the audience. Dude was too ill for words... And he knew it.
Prince was a class act, intelligent, he could have made a good teacher, he did mentor artists. I'd have liked a teacher like him, I looked up to him.!
@@lp9155 did you catch the part where he fakes out an audience member & throws his ring to another while saying, "sike"? 😄 Playing with the crowd.
yep. I thought that was a guitar pic!
@@lp9155 yeah, you're probably right
My girlfriends and I saw Prince in concert in 1996 - I can only describe the concert 🎶 like this. LPrince took us to heaven for two hours, and gently brought us back down to earth.” We were never the same - music was never the same”. 💜💜💜
TH-cam has allowed me appreciate Prince's genius level talent (people who can do things you haven't even yet imagined) far more than when I was young and thought that some of his singles were "catchy". As a musican and singer/songwriter he has to be one of the best ever but as a perfomer I can't think of an equal.
Yep simply the best
He sure could work a crowd, he always knew when to kid around and when to be serious. 💜💜💜☔☔☔
That's why he's the best. 💜
Robee why is your picture up side down ?
Joaquin Gonzalo so Australians understand me
@@RobeenaShepherd lol
I absolutely loved Prince's impish sense of humour - a bona fide musical genius and a genuinely funny guy. That to me was something very special.
you are a star when you can catch the audience with a guitar, your voice and tons of charisma
he's always been on another level, by his guitar playing, by his voice, by his soul, by his showmanship...
You just raised the level of stupidity to like 9000
I'm not a huge Prince fan, but you can't deny his talent. His passing was a big loss to music. I doubt we'll see another artist like him.
Agreed man, I will always regret not seeing him or MJ in concert. They will live on here on TH-cam though.
No no, there are artists out there but you wont see them in the spotlight/famous. Why? Powers that be don't want that now. They are dumbing us down.
Absolutely. I've never been a fan of his music, but he is (was) a truly exceptional musician.
He's irreplaceable and kinda sad tbh
An arguement can be made that some individuals may have been a better singer, dancer , song writer, musician than prince. But no one was a better overall artist combining all those skills in 1 human being. Best to walk on planet earth.
The best
Obviously anyone familiar with Prince's work already knows he was an amazing musician, but it's so great to hear him...Bluesify his own song...showing off a level of vocal inflection and guitar style that his hits (as recorded) don't necessarily represent. Damn, he was good!!!
No artist of today will ever b on his level
That’s cuz none of them are actual musicians
Brilliance, talent, genius, personified. Just awesome, and we've lost him. Rest in Peace. One of the best musicians ever in all of my 78 years.
I love it when he said he wrote this while looking in the mirror. Prince always had a good since of humor.
I think to think it was a cheeky remark but he was actually serious
He was serious
To exho those who alread spoke, He definitely meant that.
@@bananababylonHe wasn't serious. He was clearly joking ! It's a well known western culture habit to follow up a joke with " I'm serious " after a blatent tongue in cheek remark. It shouldn't give slow on the uptake dafties the excuse to take that "I'm serious " literally .
@@mynameisGail he's made this remark while playing this song during other live shows. It works as a funny ad lib but I'm pretty sure he's also serious. It's Prince after all. The lyrics are like a pep talk to himself.
He truly was a genius. RIP
First time ever watching this, it gave me chills. And all I could say afterwards, oh my God.
Repeatedly.
😮🎉😅🎉
The guy was, without question, a genius.
I *still* can’t believe that Prince is gone.
Growing up in the 80s with a funky Dad ensured that his music was always around. I’m so grateful for those drives thru Denmark.
Thank you Dad, thank you Prince.
We lost a musical prodigy when Prince died. Super talent is rare and Prince was platinum.
Yep
Man the more I look at Prince's playing the more I'm amazed. I mean there's not really a lot to that song technically speaking, it's like two chords and a handful of fills. But it is just so dripping in Prince's natural funk that I could never get close to replicating it.
Makes today’s singers look untalented pure class
Agreed
GOAT! He didn’t have to die so young. He left this world way too soon. He had so much more to share .....😞😞😞
Yes:(
Wow on top of being a genius also capable of genuinely just having a fun time with his audience. It's almost like he's cracking jokes with friends a the bar. And at the same time overwhelming them. I mean come on!! Them lucky bastards seeing him play in such a small venue..
He loved women and gave us all the power. He was so comfortable with himself, he had no problem giving women all the respect we deserve. He’s da bomb.
Miss this beautiful musician.
His pick/finger change at 2:31 was ridiculously smooth.
Caught that too-how many times does he do it and it goes unnoticed?
He's great and all, but stop with that undeserved compliment festival. I feel like I'm one scroll down from seeing a comment praising the way he sits...
@@NiePieerdolwell, he does sit pretty cool.
There was only one Prince. The man could make his guitars sing like few others. And his voice is just as amazing. What a range. Miss him! Gone too soon.
His guitar and voice were complementary instruments
Did he just throw a golden ring into the audience? Absolute legend, super star, genious, burning bright Star... Obviously there was never and will never be somebody better.
I could listen to Prince play the guitar like this all day..
There will never be another. You have just witnessed musical perfection.
If he wasn't so good at everything else he would be considered one of the best guitarists in recent years
Love the crowd interactions here! Awesome crowd
His masterful control of his audience and connection is why we loved him so . He taught us his rules of music . He was so charismatic . Oh he was mesmerizing in concert! Thank you !
MTV dropped the ball by not giving us an MTV Unplugged: Prince
"I wrote this song while looking in the mirror"!!! If there ever was anyone who had every right to brag about himself, it was Prince!
So underrated as a guitarist....learning one instrument good enough to play to the masses is hard enough, this dude played the piano, drums and others besides singing....one exceptional talent!!
totally underrated guitarist!!!! he could do anything he wanted on guitar
If you underrate Prince as a guitarist I find it hard to believe you even know what a guitar is.
prav777 27 instruments bro what a genius
He was also an absolutely BADASS bass player. Being a guitarist myself, I do have to say that maybe he was underrated as a guitarist by non-guitarists, but NOT by guitarists. He's Nile Rodgers on steroids...
This is just a pure masterclass in how to encaptulate an audience. Didnt over play, didnt play a thousand notes a second. Controlled the room but involved the crowd and made it more personable.
It took many many years to realise he is probably one of the greatest musicians the industry has ever seen.
