Also, Ive never wanted to hug an extremely muscled man that I've never actually met in person before as I did watching Oaks reaction to the ending " family comes first" scene. And during the scene of the last time he saw his dad alive. Those two were honestly some of the heaviest, heart wrenching scenes of any movie I've ever seen. I fekin bawled. Like ugly ugly crying. Only reason I can even make it through those scenes now is I know there's a happy ending coming. I mean it made me tear up a little just typing this up!! Much love and big manly bear hugs to all three of you awesome dudes. (Fourth one for Dave, even though he was off camera for this one)

I think it’s because the hit to miss ratio on the jokes is too low for how crass and juvenile the jokes are. It just amplified every bad joke and it’s very much 2000s humor in a way a lot of his best movies aren’t.

The same story kinda worked the other way 'round with Schwarzenegger.
People knew him only as an actor in action movies.
Then he started doing comedies, and people who expected to see him in another action movie were disappointed - at first.
    Today?
Nobody has problems with Arnie doing comedy anymore.
Sandler was only known as a comedian.
So, of course his usual audience was not on board with more serious stuff.
It took some time for his "old"audience (and also for a "new" audience _(which maybe didn't plan to see a Sandler movie priorly, because they didn't like his goofy stuff))_ to get used to that "new" Sandler.

I was twelve when the movie came out, at a schoolfriend's birthday they put the movie on. I disliked all the crudeness, I didn't understand it, it was offputting (it still is a little). I rewatched it some years later, and I cry so hard every single time I watch it. I cried while watching you guys watch it. Because it is such a perfectly placed punch to the gut. Story wise it is set up perfectly for the emotional turmoil they create at the end. Not only do they slowly build up through his fast forwarding this discomfiting feeling of missing parts of your life, they then line up the punches of 1) he misses his dog dying 2) he misses his kids growing up 3) he misses divorcing his wife 4) he misses losing his dad 5) he loses his health and sees his son being on the same slippery slope as he took which caused all of the above. It's so gutwrenchingly sad. And I love it.

It was the marketing that hurt the movie. The advertising made it look like just another Sandler comedy, so people went in to laugh laugh laugh and got more of a deeper story, and people rated it based on it not being what they were sold. Imagine a gang of teens/20 somethings seeing commercials that made it look like the next Billy madison/Happy Gilmore and and you end up with a thought provoking deeper story, that really could only be fully appreciated as an older adult with a family...

I'm sure I'm not alone in this, nor am I the first person to comment this, but it's so refreshing to see three men, that at first sight might seem to be the picture of machismo, see and talk about the emotional nuance in a film like this; it should be entirely normal for conversations to be had in such an emotionally open way, but it's not. Sharing these deep stories of Oak's father and his step-mother, the fight with his step-father, as well as Answer's stories of his father's health and his mother attending his wedding shortly before her passing, it's all so emotionally healthy to openly share these stories and emotions and to be able to cry in front of each other as well as their large audience without shame. I'm having a bit of head fog today so my words aren't coming to me so well, but I wanted to thank the members of Badd Medicine for being such wonderful representations of expressing healthy emotions in adulthood and healthy masculinity.

Have you guys seen Uncut Gems? Sandler is terrific in that film. The film itself could be called anxiety with how tense it is. Should check it out.

My favourite reactions at 20:25 & 37:48 your laughs are so infectious! 😁 & that dog humping scene haha 😆🐕 & thank you for sharing your personal moments about your lives, it was an honour & heart warming to hear. I first watched this film on a train journey 10yrs ago & watching it again now just hits different with my mum passed away this time last year, I had a great childhood too, my parents always made sure 1 of them was always there for school & other life events. I think the message of this movie is count your blessings & Quinn's right, I don't think people expected such an such emotional role from Adam Sandler!

My mom is a professionnal musician and she missed most of my piano or dance recitals growing up beauce she was working. I have never hold it against her because my dad and grand parents were there for every single ont of them. What is important is having people who love you show up. She was there when she could and that was ok.

I agree with Oak, I also could not understand why Rotten Tomatoes was so low, but then again, I never put to much attention to what critics believe, and age might be the reason why Movie fans is only 66%. I personally loved this movie (I also lost my Parents), and thought when funny, it was very funny, and once it turned serious, I felt it, and thought it worked perfectly in this movie.

    To answer your question- Yes.
"Linger" is my boyfriend and I's song because it came on the radio during a romantic kiss in the car during the first snowfall of the season. And when he little brother got married, I slipped the dj $5 to play it at the reception. So that's at least one wedding it's been played at.

This is one of my favorite movies and the first time I ever knew about it was because my dad rented it he sadly passed when I was 16 and i didn’t watch it for the first time till maybe 19 or so and I absolutely broke down just it hit way too close especially because for years I blamed myself but it’s one of those amazing movies that will make you laugh cry and appreciate just how precious life is and on top of all that we get the beyond amazing quote: “remember the leprechaun he’s always chasing the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow but when he gets there at the end of the day it’s just cornflakes”

@@simonhartwig8729 Yeah, for real. It's kind of heavy, but it's a great story. It deals with a tough subject that a lot of people had/have to deal with. Don't want to say what it was since that hints to what the movie is about if they see the comment.

"It's a Wonderful Life" would be an excellent movie to react to, any time between Thanksgiving and New Years. Even if you've seen bits and pieces of it, you need to watch it all the way through.
Loved that you guys got "REAL" with this, even though it had a sophomoric aspect to it in the first part (which I'm not opposed to anyway...).

watched this movie dubbed in Spanish (mex) and the best joke is when Adam says to his neighbor kid at the beginning "his dad stereo blows" is translated as "Mi papa tiene un stereo bose" (my dad has a bose sterio) and adam replies with "Su papa es el negro jose, wheeee" (His dad is the black man jose) the punchline in english just aint the same lol
