Jennifer Coolidge was my favorite character❤ She's also so funny in the 2004 "A Cinderella Story" starring Jennifer, Hillary Duff and Chad Michael Murray. Yes, it might be a little cheesy, but its also pretty funny!😂 Loved your reaction! You had me laughing so hard I was in tears😂😂😂Thanks for that❤
I watched this just the other day with my friends, and seeing it again after so long made me realize how neat it is that basically every woman in this movie sort of remembers how to be a girl's girl. Vivian and Professor Stromwell are probably the more obvious examples with Chutney landing on the opposite end of the scale for her murderous condemnation towards Brooke, but even Elle goes through this growth, because she WAS for a while knowingly making decisions to better encroach on another girl's fiancé before the self-betterment train rolled around and swept her off in a first class seat
It's also about how people often fulfill what people expect of them! Elle was always smart, but no one every expected her to do anything other socialize, spend money, get married, etc. Once she had some motivation and professors who expected her to do and be something else she excelled!
The whole movie goes against expectations. -The professor that gave her the hardest time ended up being her strongest advocate -The professor who gave her the most chances only did it because he wanted to sleep with her -Everyone thought Elle would be a stuck up, dumb blonde but she was kind, smart, forgiving, good with people and non-judgemental. -Unlikely pair of friends with Elle and Paulette -Fashion and Haircare knowledge ended up being the most important info needed to reveal the truth about the case -Elle's bully ending up as her best friend -the young blonde wife genuinely loved her husband and didn't marry/kill him for money
@@emanomer2288 She did change herself a bit! She grew and studied and learned to tie her worth to her own achievements rather than the perfect guy/relationship. There's a ton of movies out there like this today, or at least more modern ones. (though the romantic comedy genre isn't as big as it once was, which is unfortunate).
Her LSAT score is actually amazing. It's out of 180, so she only missed a question or two. With her extracurriculars, her 4.0GPA, and her LSAT score she likely would be accepted to Harvard IRL.
I love that Warner took Elle to a public place to break up with her because he thought she wouldn't make a scene in public. It's such a cowardly move and that high-pitched shrieking she makes while everyone looks at him like he's scum is great.
I think the male mentor who ends up making you feel like they only pretended to believe in you because they wanted to sleep with you is also an incredibly relatable experience for many women. It can be a pretty devastating betrayal. I think it being the first professor giving her a push and saying she believes in her was the perfect thing. Also just meeting her in the salon like that suddenly offered a glimpse of a future for someone who may have been a lot more like Elle, and dealt with a lot of the same prejudices, than we had realized before.
Yeah like I never understood how the sympathy were for the "nice guys" who got friendzoned rather than the female friend who probably got blind sided and came to a jarring realization that the male friend they made and trusted only ever wanted to sleep with them
Yea, I love we don’t really notice she’s also a blonde until the salon, because we were only seeing her as a law professor. The assumption would be she doesn’t care about her looks or she has no time, but of course there’s no way to predict who likes getting their hair done.
Happened to me at work with my boss. I was a 22 year old single mother working as a temp at a great company....so I thought...and when I was asked to stay late so we could discuss me getting hired on....what a young naive idiot I was....no! cost me my job.
@czarinaflores6850 I was gonna say that 😂 not just that everyone thought that coz elle is a beautiful blonde woman that she probs got into harvard with daddy's help 😂 turns out it was Warner that needed daddy's help not elle 😂😂😂
I love the feminine positivity in this movie. Elle is sweet and raw and uplifting to those around her in addition to being smart. And beginning with her sorority rooting for her prepping for the LSATs to her professor encouraging her when she wanted to quit, to the ending showing women supporting women through Vivian and her becoming friends instead of staying pitted against each other is the absolute best. A classic through and through ❤
It’s a much more honest, believable and relatable story than some of the girl-boss characters coming out today - who are born perfect at everything and have no challenges in their character arc. Elle is the ultimate empowerment character.
Your comment makes no sense. Elle is that perfect character. She doesn't have a character arc in this movie. The story is about her subverting expectations while helping other women complete their character arcs. Also it would be helpful if you named some of these offensive girlboss characters. I keep hearing complaints from people but no concrete examples.
@@mpatient133 who said anything about offensive? Nothing is offensive. What I really mean is I stories where the protagonist has to learn something about themselves or overcome adversity or obstacles are more compelling and relatable than stories where the protagonist is immediately good at everything without ever having to try a day in their life.
Elle Woods is such an icon. She always took the high road and never blamed anyone. For example, she never blamed Vivian for telling her it was a costume party. That's such a mature thing to do. She was kind to everyone and stayed true to herself. UGHHH QUEEN
Well she might not have blamed her audibly but she knew Vivian was the culprit. She called her a "frigid bitch" in the next scene, so Elle took her dues where the opportunity was allotted.
@@TheDragonsRose This is also true, sorry about that! I jumped the gun by commenting, I was too excited! I totally understand what you mean, and saying someone is a "frigid bitch" is not a very nice thing to say. What I meant to say is she never mentioned anything about Vivian saying it was a costume party. She allowed Vivian to have the benefit of the doubt and didn't explicitly embarrass or humiliate Vivian, as Vivian did to her. I hope that makes sense!
@@moorhua No I totally agree it does. Elle was/is excellent representation of a morally upstanding person. It's just good to see her not be so wholly "perfect" in personality, so it's important to have a bit of realism in there to make her seem like less of a Mary Sue protagonist.
I love that this was my introduction to feminism as a child-the movie is truly just about uplifting each other, and there’s no man-hating (except Warner, but that’s for his behavior and not his gender). She’s just a blonde living her life and getting an education. Even Vivian, who’s introduced as the “other woman”, becomes her friend in the end and not her rival.
I do love that they ended up being friends. I’m sure Vivian was just feeling insecure when she first met Elle which made her lash out with bitchiness. I’m glad that she stopped that as she came to know Elle.
what I love most about that fact is that it's done in a way that's not overly feminist-y.. it doesn't beat you over the head with it, or shove it down your throat. it's funny asf, endearing, and powerful. it shows a wonderful range of women. it's definitely a women supporting women kind of movie, as you said, but at the same time, it doesn't take itself too seriously. it's super playful about the idea of femininity in a way that we just do not get to see in modern comedy movies. so great!
I think having an older female lawyer hearing Elle talk about Callahan attempt to sexually assault her was a powerful way to bring her back to her passion for law. An older woman in that profession would know horrible things about the industry and it felt right to have her tell Elle that his gross behaviour doesn’t now define or taint Elle’s success.
Yes. I had a friend my first year in law school who was sexually assaulted by another student. She had a hard time coming to class (he was in her class) during the investigation. None of our professors were jerks about it, but the terrifying old woman professor who literally could make people cry in class was so wonderful. She offered to do whatever my friend needed to feel comfortable, including forcing the guy to sit on the other end of the room, recording class for her if she couldn’t bring herself to show up that day, holding extra office hours just for her, etc. Women in male dominated fields know how horrible it can be and young women in those environments are so blessed to have older women as their mentors.
it really stuns me that people who study classes that are more logic based think that just because someone loves fashion and spends part of their day doing their hair, that they must not be serious about their schoolwork. I am a major in chemistry, but i also love fashion, and a lot of people will doubt my knowledge or intelligence just because i like to dress up a little bit. when i got a C- on this one test my freshman year, i LITERALLY heard some of the girls behind me say "well if she spent more time on studying than on her hair, she might actually do well"🙄
You're right. In France, where I live, there's a tv show called " the best pastry chef " and one of the candidate was a heavy goods vehicle driver and very feminine
I love how you guys always look for ways to relate to all different kinds of movies/TV, and are open to all the ways the stories can have layers and deeper meanings! It’s such a valuable mindset.
Well said. I totally agree. I enjoy listening to their thoughts after reactions and their are a few they have done that are actually very genuine which is what makes these guys stand out imo
This movie is iconic. Reese Witherspoon actually loves this character and created an entire production company making alot of women backed/written/produced/directed films. The lessons have helped me throughout life. Kindness, honesty, and loyalty can attract the right people to help you succeed.
Hey guys I don't know if you guys would want too but legally blonde 2 was good too. Reese Witherspoon killed this role. Even if you guys don't react to it you guys should watch it.
Thing is the only bit unrealistic about her getting into Harvard law was the video essay. Law school doesn’t care a huge amount at you undergrad major and in fact fashion merchandising is a business degree so for a potential corporate lawyer, that’s a very good background. She has a perfect gpa at a highly respected school, tons of extra curricular& likely volunteer experience due to being in a sorority and a 179 on the LSATs which is an almost perfect score considering 180 is the highest score. Like she was an ideal Harvard law candidate
If you haven't seen the full movie recently she talks in her video essay how she organized a charity carwash. It might have said an annual charity carwash.
@@India.H true, I love his channel. He also did a review of My Cousin Vinny, my favourite movie of all time. If Bad Medicine boys haven't seen it I'd love to see them watch that movie - it's classic!
This is actually one of my husband’s favorite comedies. He loves to tell his friends not to write off “chick flicks” because they are some of his favorites. The Proposal with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds is another one that he loved and I think most men would. “Chick flicks” can have some of the most witty comedy mixed with lots of feel good stuff so I’d love to see you guys try a few more in this genre! 💜
"White Chicks" and "Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion" are two of my favorite chick flick movies. Do check them out if you haven't seen them yet.
I think a lot of the "chick flick" attitude can be put down to a combination of bad marketing and over-simplification. Most men assume that "chick flick" refers to either rom-coms or period romance and 90% of those films really are interchangeable except for the actors. Films like Legally Blonde or Miss Congeniality aren't that, but most people aren't literary scholars who know the difference; if the trailer looks like a rom-com, why should they assume this is different than the 4 dozen other films that came out this year with the same "girl tries to win back guy" ad?
This was such an important movie, because it's one of those rare stories, where love being the goal, is turned into friendship, selflove and accomplishments being the goal and the Emmett subplot was just a that, a subplot and a bonus of Elle's storyline. Same goes for the sequel; Emmett is a great supporting fiancé, but he's just a subplot. Elle Woods is a Supreme Court Barbie!
The "costume party" happened to me in real life. 😂 Literally turned up dressed as a playboy bunny and nobody else was in costume except for one guy dressed as Santa 😭😂
This movie has meant sooo much to me my whole life. It lets girls know that you can be girly and feminine and still be intelligent and have passion and do any profession you want. Plus it's hilarious. Glad yall enjoyed!
i always liked how Elle helped out "crazy eyes" with the girl and he helped her establish the precedent to defend Brooke in court later. also how her and Vivian started out as typical rivals but ended up best friends at the end.
Legally Blonde was so important to so many of us. As a kid it was the first time I had ever seen someone who was unashamedly girly, as well as being very smart, driven and kind. All the other women in films were either the dumb girly girls or the 'ugly' smart girl, or smart and mean. Elle was so different.❤
Elle was easy to root for becuase not only was she pretty but she was kind, til the end. When you watch you see how wrong she’s treated because she’s genuinely nice to most everyone
Legally Blonde and The Princess Diaries are notable for not having aged as badly as lot of other comedies have done. Both are really positive in their messaging about intelligence used as a force for good not being at odds with high maintenance feminine packaging.
One thing that you didn't mention that I've thought about more as time has gone on is that Elle had confidence in herself, but her world view was really limited. She had plenty of intelligence and drive, but up until then it had all been channeled in one direction. She wanted that MRS. degree. She had oodles of potential that had never been tapped--her parents seemed to lead a narrow life, with narrow goals for Elle. Not only did others limit her, but for a long time, she limited herself. So as much as there's a lesson not to judge a book by its cover, there's a lesson not to forget that there can be interesting chapters not yet written.
I was 13 when this movie came out. I was in an all-girls school. This movie was monumental for us. And honestly, I know so many girls my age definitely had lawyer dreams after this movie. My friend's sister legit stated Elle Woods was her inspiration in her law school admissions interview.
One thing this movie does which is rarely ever in movies for girls, it told Elle she could be smart AND like pink at the same time. So many films, especially of this time period, wanted to empower women but seemed to say you needed to be a specific KIND of woman to be empowered. Elle Woods being both smart and capable and not giving up the pink while doing so is an extremely strong message. That it's actually ok to be smart AND girly. Girls don't have to choose one of the other.
this is also like the conversation with barbie. women can be many things while still tapping into their femininity. the color pink for both films symbolize so much.. and its saddening seeing how women are mocked, ridiculed, judged, etc. - simply for ex. liking the color pink. this shows you can be all of that and still have so much more to show the world.
Fun fact they actually filmed at Harvard that’s not a set, they originally were going to film at Stanford but the college didn’t allow them to film so they chose Harvard
They did not FILM at Harvard, Harvard doesn't allow you to film on campus. Harvard did however allow them to use the schools name which other universities didn't. It's actually something Harvard is known for, letting movies use its name.
This movie is a favorite! As a woman I find it empowering that she can be so pink and girly but still be a genius lawyer! She never puts others down and doesn’t try to compete against other women. She is so violently herself in a good way! Love it! 💕
I really like the process of Vivian and Elle's friendship development. You can tell Viv is kind of nervous entering the room because she's been rude to Elle and Elle is so unapologetically confident that it would be completely reasonable to just tell her to leave. But Elle is also extremely kind, and loves relating with others, and she and Vivian become friends after bonding.
What Oak said about people judging him really hit hard, because I feel like I kind of did the same to him when I first began watching your guys' videos. My introduction was The Last of Us, and especially something as historically divisive as that, I was very worried if I was going to enjoy some buff white dudes' takes haha. I was so pleasantly surprised, especially with Oak and his reaction to episode 3. Thank you guys for being so open to everything and Oak, I especially appreciate your empathetic analysis of the media you consume!
Elle is such a great character. I love how kind she is, she never really puts people down until they have truly done her wrong, and even then she's very mild. Just enough that she stands up for herself and isn't a doormat. She just keeps moving ahead and living her best life and doesn't hang on to hate. I love the message that true empowerment comes from supporting each other, even when we have differences.
I think as a woman in the workplace, this story holds up in so many ways. More then just a fluffy fun movie with good morals. It is that, but it also navigates a lot of real issues. I’ve dealt with so much overt sexual harassment as well as men putting me down for being “girlier” then our other female coworkers. Which isn’t even true. I am just as girly as the other women at work, however I am at a lower position and therefore our male coworkers feel comfortable “mentioning” it to me frequently. Elle shows that you can be successful while saying no to sexual advances and while being her self, which includes enjoying stereotypical feminine things.
stage musicals are probably outside your wheelhouse, but i highly recommend the legally blonde musical! its so much fun, and explores elle and emmett's friendship a lot more, and paulette (elle's nail tech friend) gets more time to shine! i think you guys would really enjoy it
I LOVE the musical - and the whole thing is on TH-cam (MTV pro-shot, not a bootleg!). I really enjoy the expansion of Elle and Emmett's friendship and I also love the couple of tweaks they made to the story with Vivian. I have to say the only thing I don't like is Paulette's song / story line. It makes me physically cringe every time I hear it - to the extent I always skip forward when re-watching. Forever thankful the West End production changed the lyrics (I just Googled it and basically every production _across_ _Europe_ has used a variation of the London version instead LOL).
The guy who said “handsome in a Tom Brady way but he doesn’t look like Tom Brady” 😂 that was perfect, I understood. I often try to explain similarities I see in people this way but I never seems to come across.
"At least when I dress like a frigid bitch, I try not to look so constipated." (My favorite line in the movie) Great reaction. The second one is good too and I am looking forward to seeing your reaction.
The biggest takeaway from the Study Montage is that with best friends who support you no matter what, you can do anything. Even get a near-perfect LSAT score
I definitely didn’t expect y’all to ever watch this movie for this channel but I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction. This movie is a classic. I’m surprised y’all knew about the perm maintenance thing haha. And you said “why would you wash your hair?” In synch lol. Also I was laughing at the Answer getting really invested in Elle getting the confession from the daughter lol
The idea of going from fashion into law seems far fetched on the surface but really the law is so broad that all fields of expertise can be utilized and even become an area of specialization.
A TH-cam channel called “legal eagle” made the point that law schools accepts a very varied set of students. Many people accepted into law school don’t start off with a big background in law but have different types of expertise and like Elle, are very intelligent but don’t necessarily know a lot about law specifically
The plot and humor in this movie are great! But I absolutely love how this movie is filled with girl power! Everywhere you look in this movie you see women supporting each other and I absolutely love it. Elle being so nice and supportive towards other women even when they’re mean to her. Yes they lean into the vain and airhead stereotype of sorority girls, but the girls aren’t mean or spiteful like the stereotype, they support her the entire time she’s applying to school and after too. The “bitchy” rival, Vivian, ends up seeing how nice Elle is and they realize they want to be friends and not fight over a man (who isn’t worth either of them). Paulette being supportive of Elle the whole time, and vice versa with getting her dog bag and a new man. And the professor who is tough on her is still is rooting for her and her potential.
This movie does have so very relatable themes. Elle might have decided to go to law school to win back her man but, as often happens in life, she discovered a hidden passion. She discovered her love her love of law and desire for justice. The way her life took unexpected turns was completely believable.
This movie is great for motivation to finish up my bachelor's, and pursue Law school next year, and being sure myself, and not what others think. Elle is an iconic character, and I thought Reese Witherspoon did a great job playing the role. I'm glad you guys enjoyed it 😊 180 is the highest 150 is at a median level (it's considered somewhat a pass, I might be wrong)
I knew y'all would love it!! I think for me, part of what makes it so great is, as you pointed out, that it manages to be both extremely funny/silly, and also very heartfelt with some really great messages, all at the same time. That is not an easy thing to do! And the whole cast just did a fabulous job. A classic for a reason! 😊
i just love how much you guys laughed throughout the whole movie!!😂 it’s such a comfort movie and it’s inspiring in a very fun way. those scenes at the court room never gets old!! thank you for the reaction!
I unironically love this movie and I'm so glad you guys liked it too! I've never been particularly in touch with my feminine side but I still found Legally Blonde empowering when I was a kid. One of my favorite things is that Elle and Vivian get to become friends instead of going down a whole "not like other girls" route.
Believing in yourself is important, but it's also something you have to recommit to all the time. Because life will challenge you. It's the whole point of being alive. Live and learn. And, as with Elle, when you're in a place where self-doubt creeps in, it just helps to have people show faith in your abilities. What I love about Elle is that she doesn't really change. She stays herself. Positive, confident and kind. She just learned something about herself, that's all.
I think the reason I love this channel so much is because even though my father was in my life he wasn’t present… I LOVE movies and I love that these 3 guys sit down and take the time to watch and enjoy movies with us that my dad would never have even thought about watching. The energy is just so good and positive
I think the real heart of the movie is: girls support girls. All the movement around her to help she follow her dreams and then she doing the same... It's beautiful! BTW I'm in love with this kind of channel, I never imagine watching legally blonde with 3 guys before, thanks!
I love how Elle wasn’t ballbusting to win or get where she wanted. She knew her goals and followed them accordingly to her character and personality. She stood up for what she believed without having to become an asshole.😊
I like that they quickly change the reason for her law education being about getting Warner to date her, to simply proving her own abilities to everyone who is doubting her.
This movie is iconic, it’s such a fun watch and the soundtrack slaps. I loved it as a young girl growing up and I still do, the message of femininity and being smart can in fact go hand in hand is so important for a lot of people growing up as well as adults.
as a blonde, this movie really defined a lot of things when I was younger. I do get treated differently and people have low expectations. they think there is a "pretty privilege" and I have unfortunately been hit on by not one, but two of my past bosses. I really adore the strong message of being yourself, no matter everyone's perceptions because your true self will outlast those outside opinions of you.
This movie turned out to be one of my all time comedies. Reese Witherspoon simply showed some amazing acting chops. She wasn't simply just saying cute lines but her facial expressions were so damn genuine, I would really say it was Oscar worthy even though there would have been no way this kind of movie would ever get the recognition.
Elle’s friend in the cheerleading uniform is Alanna Ubach! Most recently she was the voice of Mama Imelda in Disney’s Coco, and I hear she is in Euphoria. Back around the time of this movie she had been in a lot of things, such as the Brady Bunch Sequel and Sister Act 2.
I dropped everything to watch this reaction immediately. So glad you enjoyed it so much! And your insight about being judged by your cover, Oak, is on point. I think it's a very close equivalent to what Elle was going through. Such an amazing movie.
The ''what? like it's hard?'' is even sweeter when you learn that Warner was waitlisted. LMAO Cause it literally was hard for him, whereas compared to Elle, he didnt get in on his own merit, his dad had to call in a favor.
I love your discussion and attention to detail on a movie that's usually considered a 'chick flick'. This is one of my favorite movies, and I really appreciate your thorough discussion of it! You've earned a subscriber today :)
I really wasn't sure about watching this reaction... But you guys were so into it and made every joke 10x more funny! Thanks for doing these unexpected reaction videos!
I get so excited every time I see a legally blonde reaction 😂 this movie was my childhood ahaha I'm even more excited then usual to see you guys react to it!❤❤❤
Reese was 5 months pregnant in the graduation scene and wearing a wig as she had cut her hair for another role and principal filming had already wrapped. She and Warner's actor were both in England doing other projects and they had to use an English school to film their scenes/closeups for this because the test audience was disappointed that she hadn't gotten her revenge on Warner. So, the friends that were shown closeups of Vivian, Jennifer etc were all filmed during regular filming and all was edited together. To make it look like one scene.
I saw this in theaters with my mom when I was 11 and I told my mom after that I wanted to be a lawyer... Fast forward to now and I'm 33 and I'm a licensed attorney :). I know it sounds silly or corny but I was so in love with the idea that she could have it all - be glamorous, be herself, and be intelligent and successful in her career without needing a guy around to define her. I think the movie was ahead of its time in many ways lol.
It’s a small part, but I love that the girls make a few jokes but ultimately work hard to make sure Elle passes the exam even if they don’t completely get it.
Great reaction, guys! I like how open you are to your audience's suggestions. The awkward, very tall and friendly law student is Oz Perkins the son of Psycho's Anthony Perkins.
Interesting to see a group of guys watching this! You all got the not judging a book by its cover and believing in yourself message, but I was surprised you didn't touch more on the how its also about the trials of being a woman, and especially an unapologetically feminine woman like Elle, in professional spaces. Elle's traditionally feminine qualities like her kindness and generostiy, got her labeled as weak or a push over. Her blondeness only really categorized her as "dumb" or frivolous, but the way she was sexualized and demeaned is just part of being a woman. There's also the way Warner just swaps out girlfriends in order to maintain whatever image he wants to give off, like women are accessories to him. But it also portrays sisterhood, not only with her sorority, but with Jennifer Coolidge's character, and with Vivian. She was never mean to anyone who didn't deserve it. And she won without compromising her kindness or principles. What happened with her and Pr. Callahan is all too common. As you also saw something similar happen with Starlight and The Deep in The Boys.
"Better watch out, goin for the knockout, and I won't stop til I'm on top now".... That montage of her studying and improving after Warner straight up said she's not smart enough, that scene is my favorite. Great, great movie --- I didn't expect to like it at first either, but it is SUCH a classic and a "feel-good romp" as a critic might put it XD
I was delighted to see you guys react to this movie! It is such a feel-good, funny movie with a ton of heart ♥ I love that Elle is a genuinely amazing person. And Reese plays her with such sweet sincerity! Glad you all enjoyed it so much 🥰
The director apparently wanted this to be a comedy mocking the ~~Blondeness~~ of it all, but then Reese came in and decided to play it straight and the rest of the cast followed her lead and now it's an iconic movie for it
Yeah, Victor Garber often plays a good guy, but he busted that stereotype in this movie by going after Elle. That kind of thing is devastating to a young woman, so Elle's reaction reaction of horror and disappointment was quite realistic. And I agree that it was the first professor who needed to bring her back. About Victor Garber: he played the King in Whitney Houston's remake of Roger and Hammerstein's Cinderella. Whoopi Goldberg played the Queen and Paolo Montalban, who is Filipino, played the Prince. I was showing this movie to my young nieces and the 5 year old said, "THAT'S their SON??!" Which shows that even a small child understands basic genetics. But she and her sister adored the show, especially Whoopi. She and Victor had some really funny moments together.
Fun fact: the guy who plays the friend of Elle who always looked afraid that she slaps? Is the son of Anthony Perkins who portrayed the first Norman Bates in Psycho. He also appeared in the sequel of Psycho portraying the child version of his father's character.
Really surprised at how funny this was. We didn't expect it at all. What was your reaction? What did we miss?

Oak - exercise gives you endorphins, endorphins make you happy. Happy people don't shoot their husbands... they just don't.
You know perm maintenance? Do you know shoe brands? Is your boyfriend's name Chuck?
Jennifer Coolidge was my favorite character❤ She's also so funny in the 2004 "A Cinderella Story" starring Jennifer, Hillary Duff and Chad Michael Murray. Yes, it might be a little cheesy, but its also pretty funny!😂 Loved your reaction! You had me laughing so hard I was in tears😂😂😂Thanks for that❤
You guys' laughter is contagious!!! I laughed with you all the whole time it was so fun XD
i like that this movie isnt about a girl getting smart, its about an already smart girl using her smarts to empower herself and help others
Well said!!!
Perfectly said!🙌
I watched this just the other day with my friends, and seeing it again after so long made me realize how neat it is that basically every woman in this movie sort of remembers how to be a girl's girl.
Yeah she may have been a little vapid, but her grades, lsat, history would have gotten her in for real. Helps she’s loaded.
She was also super smart.
The whole movie goes against expectations.
-The professor that gave her the hardest time ended up being her strongest advocate
-The professor who gave her the most chances only did it because he wanted to sleep with her
-Everyone thought Elle would be a stuck up, dumb blonde but she was kind, smart, forgiving, good with people and non-judgemental.
-Unlikely pair of friends with Elle and Paulette
-Fashion and Haircare knowledge ended up being the most important info needed to reveal the truth about the case
-Elle's bully ending up as her best friend
-the young blonde wife genuinely loved her husband and didn't marry/kill him for money
And the best part is she didn't change herself or the things she loved. I miss movies like this
@@emanomer2288 She did change herself a bit! She grew and studied and learned to tie her worth to her own achievements rather than the perfect guy/relationship. There's a ton of movies out there like this today, or at least more modern ones. (though the romantic comedy genre isn't as big as it once was, which is unfortunate).
I also love that even though Elle is beautiful, well off, and popular, she's nice to everyone! She subverts the typical "popular mean girl" trope.
i loovee this movie for that!!
My best friend is an Ellie IRL. Beauty queen, always dressed to the 9s, but also the kindest person, and just finished her Master's degree. ❤
Her LSAT score is actually amazing. It's out of 180, so she only missed a question or two. With her extracurriculars, her 4.0GPA, and her LSAT score she likely would be accepted to Harvard IRL.
Fashion merchandising.
Agree the films about her “transforming” into a new person but that score needs a serious underlying aptitude to begin with
@@couch.patati-patata fashion companies need lawyers too. She could be a huge asset, they wouldn't have to teach her any background about the company.

@@couch.patati-patata well LegalEagle said that the undergrad major has no effect on your admission to Law School and I take it his word any day.
I love that Warner took Elle to a public place to break up with her because he thought she wouldn't make a scene in public. It's such a cowardly move and that high-pitched shrieking she makes while everyone looks at him like he's scum is great.
You shouldn't be making a scene just because someone breaks up with you though

It was eye opening that you guys didn't see the sexual harassment twist. It is so incredibly common, even with women who are average looking.
"friend zone nice guys" let women know from the very beginning where they stand so just take my eye roll as seen. @@procastination_is_my_passi4182
My favorite part of this movie is when Elle first sees Warner at Harvard and he says "you got into Harvard?" And she said "what, like it's hard?" 😂
nods brilliant
That line cracks me up every time 🤣
The best part is when later in the movie you find out that Warner got wait listed 😂
I always love rewatching this movie because of how much and how good Elle and the others drag each other through the mud. lol
@czarinaflores6850 I was gonna say that 😂 not just that everyone thought that coz elle is a beautiful blonde woman that she probs got into harvard with daddy's help 😂 turns out it was Warner that needed daddy's help not elle 😂😂😂
The sexual harassment isn’t a twist. It’s something most women saw coming because it happens so often especially in that timeframe.
for them , it was a twist.
@@KristenYolanda ya I get that. That’s why I explained it wasn’t because sadly it’s actually the most predictable and realistic thing in the movie.
@@tiawilliams5690 See: New Ariel; updated Snow White; Captain Marvel; She Hulk; Rae from Star Wars and Galadriel from Rings of Power.

@@TheDragonsRose I 100% agree. 😊
The musical is even better at this. Warner is a lot less douchey, and Vivian is an even stronger ally in the end.
Feminism has nothing to do with hating men 🙄
It was one of my first introductions to feminism in media too
@@MannyD90It doesn't, but it can be a common pitfall.
This movie, at its core; really is about women supporting women. Whether it be her initial sorority sisters or her hard as nails female professor.
❤
what I love most about that fact is that it's done in a way that's not overly feminist-y.. it doesn't beat you over the head with it, or shove it down your throat.
it's funny asf, endearing, and powerful. it shows a wonderful range of women. it's definitely a women supporting women kind of movie, as you said, but at the same time, it doesn't take itself too seriously. it's super playful about the idea of femininity in a way that we just do not get to see in modern comedy movies. so great!
Elle's dad still holding that damn Martini during the graduation ceremony gets me every time.
As a lawer, I try to channel Elle Woods every day in my life
🤜🤛😁
I love how Ellie is able to keep her optimistic self, she's not scared to be herself (that takes A LOT of courage), and she's just... Genuinely nice.
True

Everything I wanted from Barbie movie but I failed to get.
Hey guys I don't know if you guys would want too but legally blonde 2 was good too. Reese Witherspoon killed this role. Even if you guys don't react to it you guys should watch it.
And you just learned that with this movie?
@@analmf1210what do you mean "just" learned. This movie is 20+ years old, they could have been a child when they watched it.
There's a American law channel called Legal Eagle who said practically the same thing in a review. It made her an excellent candidate.
"While you were sleeping", starring Sandra Bullock is a great rom com
Ooh actually speaking of Sandra Bullock, Miss Congeniality would be a great one!
@@Jessica_Jones My kids and I love that movie!
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
The "costume party" happened to me in real life. 😂 Literally turned up dressed as a playboy bunny and nobody else was in costume except for one guy dressed as Santa 😭😂

How many professionals have you done, and did they get you where you wanted to go?
@@Widdershins. Haha, edited my comment.
i always liked how Elle helped out "crazy eyes" with the girl and he helped her establish the precedent to defend Brooke in court later. also how her and Vivian started out as typical rivals but ended up best friends at the end.
I dislike that he’s called “crazy eyes”, because his mannerisms made me believe he was on the spectrum.
@@FreeTheTrollsi get the same impression (i’m also autistic)
Home girl had a 4.0 and 179 on the LSAT. Her video essay was bomb. She definitely deserved entry.
Ha, movie’s a pleasant riot! Reese Witherspoon just utterly crushed this role.
This ! 🙌🏻
I also loved the fact that they put glasses ON the pretty girl in one scene.
this is also like the conversation with barbie. women can be many things while still tapping into their femininity. the color pink for both films symbolize so much.. and its saddening seeing how women are mocked, ridiculed, judged, etc. - simply for ex. liking the color pink. this shows you can be all of that and still have so much more to show the world.
True
Fun fact they actually filmed at Harvard that’s not a set, they originally were going to film at Stanford but the college didn’t allow them to film so they chose Harvard
Actually, it was USC! Just the helicopter shots are Boston & Harvard!
They did not FILM at Harvard, Harvard doesn't allow you to film on campus. Harvard did however allow them to use the schools name which other universities didn't. It's actually something Harvard is known for, letting movies use its name.
A lawyer with a degree in fashion merchandising would be a powerhouse with large brands like Nike, Prada, Louis Vuitton, etc.
Elle shows that you can be successful while saying no to sexual advances and while being her self, which includes enjoying stereotypical feminine things.
stage musicals are probably outside your wheelhouse, but i highly recommend the legally blonde musical! its so much fun, and explores elle and emmett's friendship a lot more, and paulette (elle's nail tech friend) gets more time to shine! i think you guys would really enjoy it
The musical's so fun, this was always my favourite movie growing up and the musical is just as good (or even better, depending on preferences)
I second this. I think Badd Medicine would sincerely enjoy the musical a lot more than the movie. I know I did.
Agree ! The full MTV taping is still out there somewhere, TH-cam for sure!
@@kiefcoffee it is. I watch the MTV taping on TH-cam at least once or twice a year. Lol
I actually appreciate this movie more and more now as an adult.

I'm glad you guys enjoyed it 😊

I actually took the LSATs for the first time, I didn't do well on it, but I'm taking some time to review for retest. Still going strong!!!

I love how supportive her friends are, they went out of their way to help her study.
I have to say...that scream, wheeze laugh at 29:48 was immaculate. Probably the most I've laughed so far from your reactions lol
I think the reason I love this channel so much is because even though my father was in my life he wasn’t present… I LOVE movies and I love that these 3 guys sit down and take the time to watch and enjoy movies with us that my dad would never have even thought about watching. I think the real heart of the movie is: girls support girls. All the movement around her to help she follow her dreams and then she doing the same... It's beautiful!
BTW I'm in love with this kind of channel, I never imagine watching legally blonde with 3 guys before, thanks!
The “scratching” joke (20:42) is one of the funniest I’ve heard in a movie. Loved your reactions to it.
this joke always flew over my head when i first watched this movie so when i heard it my jaw dropped
I love how Elle wasn’t ballbusting to win or get where she wanted. She knew her goals and followed them accordingly to her character and personality. She stood up for what she believed without having to become an asshole.😊
So glad you guys enjoyed this! Elle is such an amazing character, a real feel good movie 😍
I mean, pretty privilege does exist. It’s not okay for bosses to hit on employees but that’s not the same conversation.
I've loved this movie ever since I first rented it when it came out. Such a great message and Bruiser is adorable. 💖
The bend and snap is something I will always support but never understand. The t-rex arms lol
I dropped everything to watch this reaction immediately. So glad you enjoyed it so much! And your insight about being judged by your cover, Oak, is on point. I think it's a very close equivalent to what Elle was going through.
Such an amazing movie.
She really helped me believe I can do anything if I work hard

The ''what? like it's hard?'' is even sweeter when you learn that Warner was waitlisted. LMAO
Cause it literally was hard for him, whereas compared to Elle, he didnt get in on his own merit, his dad had to call in a favor.

What a treat to see this classic from you guys! Didn't expect it, highly appreciate it!👍
i love how the girls always supported other girls and had each other's backs through out the movie.
I love this movie!!! It still throws me for a loop watching Vampire Diaries and seeing Warner kicking vampire ass! 🤣🤣🤣

Oh my gosh, that's awesome. That was bugging me that I recognized him from something, and that's it!! Thanks for info!
Omg I only just made that connection wow

I saw this in theaters with my mom when I was 11 and I told my mom after that I wanted to be a lawyer... Fast forward to now and I'm 33 and I'm a licensed attorney :). I know it sounds silly or corny but I was so in love with the idea that she could have it all - be glamorous, be herself, and be intelligent and successful in her career without needing a guy around to define her. I think the movie was ahead of its time in many ways lol.
It’s a small part, but I love that the girls make a few jokes but ultimately work hard to make sure Elle passes the exam even if they don’t completely get it.
You guys are one of my new TH-cam comfort channels. No matter what you're watching, you are all in. Love your energy!
Fun fact: the actor playing David Kidney is the son of actor Anthony Perkins, star of Alfred Hitchcocks Psycho. You can totally see it in his eyes.
Is this true?! I had never heard this! I always liked David Kidney.
Great reaction, guys! I like how open you are to your audience's suggestions. The awkward, very tall and friendly law student is Oz Perkins the son of Psycho's Anthony Perkins.
EXACTLY REAL MEN WATCH LEGALLY BLONDE!!!!
💯
"Better watch out, goin for the knockout, and I won't stop til I'm on top now".... That montage of her studying and improving after Warner straight up said she's not smart enough, that scene is my favorite. Great, great movie --- I didn't expect to like it at first either, but it is SUCH a classic and a "feel-good romp" as a critic might put it XD
I just added "Judgy McJudgersons" to my list of American English expressions 😂 Never heard it before.
When I woke up this morning I wasn't expecting to watch legally blonde with 3 buff guys and enjoying myself yet we are😂
