Ring On A Chain Trick

  • A little trick that seems like magic...
    A metal chain, and a solid metal ring. Hold them up with the chain inside the ring. When you drop the ring, instead of it just falling on to the table, it ends up being caught in a knot at the end of the chain. Neat!

    Last year I was out shopping at a store chain here in America called Target at the end of November. I was in the $1 section they have in the front of every store and I saw this being sold as a puzzle, I was like hey this looks cool cause I like puzzles and I bought it. When I opened it to me it looks like something that didn't look like a puzzle or anything special. But when I asked a few of my friend what it was they showed me the true trick behind it.

    I still don't get how the chain is looping around like that.

      murkinstock Ok, it works like this SPOILERS!!!!! You let the ring go, but make it flip around, in such a way that the top of it goes through the middle of the chain. Then it'll slide down and hook itself at the end. You can see how it works by holding both ends of a piece of string in one hand, then guiding a ring with the other hand to perform that motion. It's trivial to do it like that, so the trick is just to be able to do it by dropping the ring.

    hiya tim.. have you tried holding the ring between your thumb and index finger and releasing at the same time, so the ring knocks off the curled knuckle of the middle finger and sets the spin. this way is far more deceptive as you look as if you are just dropping it. great trick. Cheers

    That must be a heavy ring?

  • @jakobherbst2087
    @jakobherbst2087 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    As he is dropping the ring, he first releases the ring with the thumb so the ring gets a litttle bit of rotation. Tthen the chain has to go over the outside of the ring. This is far easier with the ring rotating i guess. After he let go the ring I can't see clearly what is going on but that is the only way i can imagine that the cain forms a loop around the ring.

    He put the ring to spin with his other hand, wich caused the ring to make a small knot, so it would stay on the chain... Pure logic, and im only 11...
