How to Distillation of Cinnamon Leaf Oil in Sri Lanka
Cinnamon leaf oil is obtained by steam distillation of cinnamon leaves. Oil yields range from 0.5 to 1.8%. Leaf oil has been found to contain more than 47 chemical compounds, the most important being eugenol, which is 65-92%. Green oil distillation is usually done in large distillation containers (200-500 kg). Before distilling the leaf oil, the cut leaves are allowed to remain in the field for three to four days. The oil in the leaves is less soluble in oil, making it milky white. Since the leaf oil is heavier than water, the oil collects at the bottom of the Florentine vessel. Oil usually turns dark brown due to oxidation and reaction with copper or steel vessels. It takes about six to seven hours to filter a single leaf, and yields an average of 1.0% oil on dry weight.
කුරුඳු කොළ තෙල් ලබා ගන්නේ කුරුඳු කොළ වාෂ්ප ආසවනය කිරීමෙන් ය. තෙල් අස්වැන්න 0.5 සිට 1.8%දක්වා පරාසයක පවතී. පත්‍ර තෙල් වල රසායනික සංයෝග 47 කට වැඩි ප්‍රමාණයක් ඇති බව හඳුනාගෙන ඇති අතර වඩාත්ම වැදගත් වන්නේ ඉයුජෙනෝල් වන අතර එය 65-92%කි. කොළ තෙල් ආසවනය සාමාන්‍යයෙන් සිදු කරන්නේ විශාල ආසවනය කිරීමේ භාජන වල (කිලෝග්‍රෑම් 200-500). කොළ තෙල් ආසවනය කිරීමට පෙර, කපන ලද කොළ දින තුන හතරක කාලයක් කෙතේ රැඳී සිටීමට ඉඩ දෙනු ඇත. කොළ වල තෙල් වල දියවන ද්‍රාව්‍යතාවය අඩු නිසා එය කිරි සුදු පැහැයක් ගනී. කොළ තෙල් ජලයට වඩා බර බැවින් ෆ්ලෝරන්ටයින් යාත්‍රාවේ පතුලේ තෙල් එකතු වේ. ඔක්සිකරණය වීම සහ තඹ හෝ වානේ භාජන සමඟ ප්‍රතික්‍රියා කිරීම හේතුවෙන් තෙල් සාමාන්‍යයෙන් තද දුඹුරු පැහැයට හැරේ. එක් කොළ කැබැල්ලක් පෙරීමට පැය හයත් හත්ත් අතර කාලයක් ගත වන අතර සාමාන්‍යයෙන් වියළි බර මත තෙල් වලින් 1.0% ක අස්වැන්නක් ලැබේ.
