Dr I just bought your $159 unit on Amazon and I’m so excited! Can you make safe Hydrosol with this? Also does extracting the essential oil make the Hydrosol scent weaker?
Yes, KD5 is for making fresh hydrosols. When distilling lavender buds, you may obtain a small amount oil which I recommend to keep it in the hydrosol. Even oil is separated hydrosol is still strong.
@@lovepeaceunity1010 Yes, you can make sage hydrosol with KD5. We always recommend using dried herb since it has less moisture and you can make higher concentrated hydrosol than fresh herb.
@@LeTimeLeo Dr Le I just made my first 16 oz of Hydrosol with your machine and it worked amazingly well!! Question: what can I use the spent plant materials for? They seem to still have sent? Do you just throw them away?
@@lovepeaceunity1010 hi, depending on the herbs, one way is soak it in hot water and use the infusion for bath, hair rinse, foot bath, etc. They can be composted as well.

No problem! You have a great idea. Clove and cinnamon match very well. Both are warm and good antibacterial. I haven’t mix them while distillation but think it will be a good try. I was using cinnamon hydrosol as air freshener and floors cleaning in a steam mop.
Thank you! that must smell very nice while effectively cleaning. I love thieves oil (clove, cinnamon, eucalyptus and rosemary) in my diffuser and was thinking of a hydrosol blend that would smell similar. Maybe it would be easier to combine individual hydrosols for the correct fragrance than throwing all the ingredients in the basket and making one hydrosol. I need to buy the equipment first, I guess. :)
hello sir, we are currently making a feasibility study about mosquito repellent and our ingredients consist of garlic, ground coffee and lavender. i would like to ask if can you make essential oil AND hydrosol of garlic and coffee using your equipment??
Hi, fresh garlic has oil content about 0.2%. A full column is 1 liter and with chopped garlic it may be 500gram which is not tested. Then you may get a little bit oil, ~1ml. Coffee is also low oil depends on the material. To get concentrated hydrosol which has oil dispersed in is not a problem. You may need multiple rounds of distillation to collect oil. Due to the higher oil content in lavender, you can collect oil from one shot. Also, please feel free email me to leo@letimesrill.com for more discussion.

Hello sir, I tried to extract essential oil from moringa olifera leaves by this method .but I obtained more water insted of essential oil by this method. Please let me know about this problem.
Hi, you found a good source of antioxidants. Hydro distillation is a way to extra oil out of moringa olifera seeds which has much higher oil content than leaves. However it’s oil yield is not high. Out of 2 lb of grinded seed may collect about 5ml of oil. Have you tried the hydrosol you made?
I appreciate your clear and simple way of explaining ....Thanking you
do you have a link for a good hydrosol/oil separator?
We have two models. Here is the link for 100ml: www.letimestill.com/shop/p/gs100
Do you have to buy the plastic pail and the other equipment separately?
Thanks good job 👏
I saw that you adjust the temperature on 160 c , is it for whole process??? and why 160 c
why not used soxhlet extraction?

Hi, once you use food grade herbs the hydrosol can be used for food. Actually hydrosol brings very strong flavors.
