Hi Ruby, I really enjoy your videos and like that you are commited to sustainability. But I am a bit disappointed about your Treedom sponsorship for a few reasons: First, they help big global companies like McDonalds, Samsung or Ford with greenwashing. For example, McDonalds planted trees with Treedom that supposedly bound 8.801.025 kg of CO2, yet in 2017 alone, McDonalds emitted over a hundred times that amount of CO2 equivalents. So the trees planted by treedom for McDonalds had no real impact on their emissions, but it was a good opportunity for marketing themselves to environmentally concious consumers. Same for Ford: Ford trucks Italy is featured on the treedom website because they planted 400 trees. That is absolutely nothing for a company that size and really, if a truck manufacturer wants to be more sustainable, then let the design of their trucks be the measure of that. Planting these trees for these companies lets them seem green to the casual consumer and helps the companies to evade more relevant criticisms of their practices. Second, I think they overcharge quite a bit, a seedling only costs them a few cents and they sell the tree for a much higher amount. And third, planting trees is often inferior to letting a forest develop somewhere naturally, because that naturally developed forest will be more resilient to environmental changes (including climate change), longer lasting and have more ecodiversity. This is also a lot cheaper! And the absolute best strategy is of course to preserve already existing forests, so that might be a better suggestion for people looking to donate money and help the environment. I think it's really cool that you are invested in sustainability and I'm sure that a sponsorship from Treedom seemed like it might make a positive impact, but I would like you to at least be aware of the problematic aspects :)

This video, like many others of yours, really make me think about ads in YT videos. Having spent quite some time watching "men's fashion, style, grooming" etc. videos, which is a heavily sponsored "industry" (cause that's what it is, an industry), I can tell when a video is made for the ad and when it just contains one, without drifting away from the its actual subject. I love that about your videos! They incorporate ads but advertising doesn't dominate, thus making it not at all annoying! Bravo!
One thing I found was that if you can’t find clothes at a thrift store because of location/size/style available etc is to just not buy a lot of clothes but to keep them for years. I have clothes for 7/8 years that are fine and I still wear so I don’t have to buy many new clothes which is a good alternative (and I found a fashion carbon footprint calculator doing this has my fashion carbon footprint 70% lower than average ) also taking/giving clothes that don’t fit your family members helps too

Hi Ruby could you do a cooking/baking video? Like baking cakes or breads using local ingredients or something like that I think a lot of people would enjoy it like me. Thanks for keeping up with the uploading!
I don't understand the value of aesthetics, exactly. I guess for someone like me who is not quite well-off financially, having to buy a new wardrobe and invest in a lot of objects/trinkets to achieve an aesthetic seems like too much. And especially if you don't have the free time to build your life around an aesthetic, it also seems like something that's out of reach for most. Is it like dress-up or pretend? And does it actually represent your interests and personality, or do people just switch aesthetics to fit whatever is trending online?
I agree so much with this. It seems a very elitist aesthetic. None of this would be possible without the pretty cottage in rural England, the clothes, accessories, the privilege of having a large garden. Not to sound bitter, but it's definitely aimed at a specific demographic!
@@TAYLORALEX2008 Yeah, I guess this is what I'm getting at. I'm a bit put off by the idea of being able to curate and essentially buy a personality. These trends are growing a lot more with platforms like TikTok and Instagram spreading the idea that your "value" or marketability as a person lies in how well you're able to replicate an aesthetic. And usually, it's those who can afford to go all out with aesthetics who get more followers and are thus able to capitalize off their image to make more money. And most times, it's just an act. Idk, I just feel like a lot of "aesthetics" feed in a lot to capitalist modes of being. Even something like cottage core, which seems to challenge modernity, falls into that consumerist trap and comes off as fake.
I agree with you, I feel like trying to fit an aesthetic is like trying to hard to be someone you might not be.. just be yourself and do what you want to do and what you can do. I'm not saying that Ruby is like this but it reminds me of the people who'd wear band tshirts without having listening to the band, just because they're trendy and not because they actually like them
It’s weird if people are not genuinely interested in aesthetics they are portraying, I don’t think most people would do that but there’s probably some weirdos out there only doing it for money. I think of aesthetics as just a way to express yourself/what you like. Your personality can be very different from your aesthetic because aesthetics are represented through external things and decor basically. Not necessarily your nature. Also a ton of money doesn’t have to be spent if you craft your own decor and art or second hand shop, try and incorporate what you like into those things. Everyone has their own aesthetic and it can be anything they want, make it “your” aesthetic. Lol i’m so invested in this I just wrote a novel.
Maybe just follow your chosen aesthetic in the books you read or the music you listen to instead of trying to model your life around it? To me that seems like a more realistic approach 🤔
From my childhood: the Brambly Hedge books by Jill Barklem, Holly Hobbie dolls, The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame. Hadn’t heard of the aesthetic until today, but have been living it most of my life.

I have clothes for 7/8 years that are fine and I still wear so I don’t have to buy many new clothes which is a good alternative (and I found a fashion carbon footprint calculator doing this has my fashion carbon footprint 70% lower than average ) also taking/giving clothes that don’t fit your family members helps too
Could you make a video of how you do these beautiful hairstyles?😍
You are really the queen of cottagecore aesthetic Ruby!
Me living in a condominium in Singapore wanting to move somewhere else and have freedom living in a cottage , having a field nearby and just enjoy nature.
Now I know my aesthetic, lol... 47 years old and I finally have a label for it! Anne of Green Gables was my kindred spirit ❤️from🇨🇦
Who all love all her beautiful and pretty outfits!
ah thank you!
Oh my god Ruby! You won't believe it but I am a thirteen year old from Asia and I just love you so much from years!!!!! I am so glad that today you finally read a comment of mine. I really wanna say you are my biggest inspiration. ❤️❤️❤️ (I'm crying, sorry)
I must say I absolutely adore your channel! Even as a 50 year old woman I learn so much and appreciate all your insights. Thank you for sharing, you are a sweet soul ❤
I would love to watch a bedroom makeover video!!! I´m obsessed with your new bed
Hi Ruby could you do a cooking/baking video? Like baking cakes or breads using local ingredients or something like that I think a lot of people would enjoy it like me. Thanks for keeping up with the uploading!
I feel like Enid Blyton is very cottagecore too. The famous five and their obsession with ginger beer
Yeesss!
This is late but. RAMADHAN MUBAARAK to any muslims out there🕋⭐🌙

Your videos always make me feel safe and calm
I wanted to do cottage core bullet journal theme but wasn't sure how but this is so amazing and I have so many ideas.
It's like she invented being aesthetic! Love ya Ruby! :)❤️
Love love LOVE that yellow gingham dress! Suits your complexion so well!
Sound track wise I would also recommend the Pride and prejudice soundtrack from the adaptation with Keira knightly
can you do one of these for hygge - they are so relaxing and inspiring to watch!
Should I visit Exeter when they open the borders? Some go-to places?
This is such a beautiful and well-made video, Ruby!
From my childhood: the Brambly Hedge books by Jill Barklem, Holly Hobbie dolls, The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame. Hadn’t heard of the aesthetic until today, but have been living it most of my life.
I think you would love pumpkin breads music - settle down is my favourite
The editing in this is truly magical
The fact that I live in the fucking Middle of a City breaks my heart a little more everyday. FUCK
I love these videos, please make more Ruby
There's some books and movies here I hadn't heard of that sounds like I would like! Thanks!
4:46 Anne Shirley😫💕💕💕
I love the books she recommended! I'm actually related to L.M Montgomery
Really? How?
Wow! I’m heading into cottage core and I didn’t even know. Thanks for the insight. This will make my videos much better. I can’t wait to share more of my slow living. ❤️
I grew up in the countryside and had this kind of lifestyle, but then I moved to the city. I'm hoping to move back to the countryside next year, so hopefully, I can grow my own vegetables, fruits, flowers, and make my own clothes after I move back.
Thank you so much Ruby for creating a place where I can discuss my likes without fear of teasing. It honestly makes my day every time you post 😊 Once again thank you so much
Ruby voice is so calming and I love how she speaks whit a slow pass ect.....
I forget to comment but you bring me so much joy Ruby. I love your content and it's been amazing seeing you develop as a story teller over the years! 💜
I miss MISS long walks in the forest. Loved doing it in winter too, it was amazing
Highly recommend the Brambly Hedge book series as well, they are children's books but they are beautiful
Due to this video I finally watched Anne with an E, it is wonderful. Thank you for your lovely reccomendation💚
Wonderful compilation. I need to find your vlog on dark academia.
You can buy second hand but you can also learn to sew! Then you can make anything you like, and it’ll fit you perfectly. For minimal environmental impact, you can even thrift your fabric
Off-topic, but I LOVE your voice. It's so calming.
RUBY!! congrats on 600K subscribers! You are an incredible human and motivate so many people on a daily basis! Thank you so much for guiding us through these tough times with your amazing videos, keep on doing what you’re doing and congratulations again on 600K xx 🤍🤍
Wow I’m blown away by this video. The shots here wow! And thank you for this video so perfectly informative.
My main Aesthetic is Light or Cottage Acedamia. (I like wearing those pretty green short tops with the high-waisted pants.)
I love these aesthetics videos. So much thought has gone into these, and I especially love the books, movies, and music recommendations.
I love all of your book recommendations! I would add the works of Jean-Jacques Rousseau (a true OG naturalist and a favorite of Marie Antoinette who is probably the queen of “aesthetics”. She definitely tried her hand at cottagecore
through her work at the petit trianon). Also, even though it’s not strictly a cottagecore book I would recommend “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn”. It is my favorite book of all time. I read it twice a year. And Francie lived cottagecore in her mind. ❤️
So many of my favorite tv shows and movies were included on your list, so I will be sure to check out some of your book, movie, tv and music recommendations to hopefully find some new favorites.
Thank you for mentioning the Greengage Summer!! That book doesn't get enough attention and it will always haunt me in the best way possible!
I live in a subdivision and I am very young. I really want to live this way. So I am learning before I move out. So I know exactly what to do and exactly where to move to :)
The filming and the videography and just everything about this is fantastic. Every video you makes is better than the last and I feel like this style is perfect, thank you ❤️❤️
ruby, I love so much your channel! i would love to see a pressed flowers crafts tutorial, like bookmarks or flower picture frames❤️ kisses from Brazil🇧🇷
such a beautiful video!
The Durrells is just the most wonderful series
Ruby congrats on 600 k subscribers
I'm leaning more towards the grunge aesthetic right now, but I've had my eye on Dark Academia, especially during school lol.
But this summer I may try to slowly make my way into the Cottagecore aesthetic, since I'll be back in the country.
I am a hopeful preteen who loves this lifestyle. I have recently found land that I would want my family to move to. We would have a cottage and horses and flowers and- too much nature everywhere! You, are living my dream life.
1:40 I wasn't expecting that, it made me laugh haha 😅
It happened so many times! It's a wonder really it didn't smash!
I frequently do that in tea rooms ..... only that the lid falls plop and splash into my cup and everyone looks round! 😂
Maybe you can do a tour of your house in the next video!! I really love to see it from your videos, especially the garden and the kitchen!
I love the recommendations! I've literally just finished the greengage summer and it was so lovely
