100% the first part of listening to the sickness in this world. And just because you have taken hormones, had plastic surgery, have less or more appendages, dress differently, or want to change your pronouns, does NOT change your gender. It’s a facade that people now accept as a reality. But it isn’t. The identity of their body will remain their birth gender and no one will identify them as their "preferred pronouns". So who is it that you think is "delulu"?

Putting aside the acceptance part, the father is rightfully so grieving for a child he no longer recognizes and has lost. He deserves every right to be upset and grieving. Empathy and compassion is not a 1-way street. Some people say parents should support and accept their kids; I'm here to say it goes both ways. Accept that it will take time for a parent to come to terms with what has happened -- it doesn't happen overnight.

@@ripihy Unconditional love doesn't mean a parent should agree or celebrate every part of their child's life. Parent's also have children who abuse alcohol and drugs. Parents should accept what their child is and love them unconditionally, but the parents should also want their children to get help. Same with being transgender. People who are trans are much more likely to self harm and abuse substances to cope with their gender dysphoria. They should get the help they need to cope with it in a healthy manner.

Try and understand what this must be like from the father’s perspective. You can preach all you want that he should be accepting of his child regardless, however he must’ve felt a sense of pride when he held his “son” as a baby. He probably had dreams of his “son” becoming a man, getting married etc. As a result of this change, that’s an entire reality he will no longer get to experience. That’s gotta hurt man. Honestly, if I was in his fathers shoes, I was would be in shock too. My son is my life and I will always consider himself “my boy.” If you take that away from me, it would take me time to adjust. Anger first then hopefully acceptance.

The father can feel how he wants to feel, he raised a beautiful son and that got taken away from him. His feelings are valid.
His feelings most likely come from him being taught to see trans people as unnatural or evil in some way. It’s still his child no matter what, once the person is grown up you can’t be there to tell them what to do, you have to be there for them and not reject them.

This issue is common in America. That is why many people wanted to bring such conversation to national TV. There are better way to do it but this needed to be addressed. The parents or loved one effected by others person transitioning need to be brought to public attention which media will not show only the story of the one who transitioned.

“I always felt the opposite gender” is just a phase. I’m a girl and i use to feel like i wanted to be a boy in my teens.
I talked like boys i walked like boys. I had nothing girly except the appearance. But that phase ended.
Instead of becoming a trans and hurting your parents people should go with the flow and let that phase fade out.
Just like that psycho killer who says “i feel like putting people in acid drums” doesn’t mean he is right and we should respect his choice.
But trans people start feel dysphoria on average from when they were 8 years old.

I can feel his pain. That being said i hope he overcame it and came to terms with their child being an individual adult that can live their life the way they want.
He’s grieving for the son he’s lost. Doesn’t means he’s homophonic, he just lost a son & is processing that. I think the emotional turmoil of the parents are sometimes overlooked & it’s all about the individual coming out. It’s a big deal.
