For those that don't get it, after Magnus takes the rook, the knight jump to b4 also revealed a queen attack on Magnus' knight leaving him with two threatened pieces. He found a way out by moving the rook to d8 but he still lost the knight. Magnus didn't see it until the rook sac, but the kid saw it instantly that's why he was so surprised.

It wasn’t a good move though. They put “impressed” in the title for clickbait I believe. Trying to fa rm views off of lies like everyone does these days
@dontfearthereaper2887 youre a fool if you think that. its an exceptionally strong move and magnus finds almost the only answer possible to it. after the bishop exchange the knight on b2 is trapped. thats why magnus gives it up. white is then technically up in material (a bishop and knight for a rook). black is only better because his rook is way more active and the bishop is well placed, while whites advantage pieces are on the opposite side of blacks king and too far away for any relevant attack (also the knights moves are blocked by a strong centered pawn with the bishops support). if this is not magnus however, every other player would struggle to find an advantage out of the tempo in a 3min blitz game.
@@FrozenScarp its really not a strong move mate. I understand that you are form turkey but thats not an excuse to be so damn biased. We instantly give up just with the bigger unit but actually smaller units like pawn can even win the game. That's why high rated players loses when they blunder with low rated player when they have few pieces of bigger unit.If high rated players r very much careful even if they loses bigger units, they can still win the game if they calculate it properly even with pawns.Low rated players have some advantage of not sacrificing pieces n high rated player took risk in giving up pieces to win the game which made it very difficult to calculate for high rated players to win the game. But anyways both r great players in the world n it's a great game they both played well.
Not sure if he was really "impressed/surprised by...calculation." He had two passers on the queenside and an extra pawn on the kingside for the piece. And not to mention, black's unopposed rook. In matter of fact, SF 16.1 gives black a -3.42 advantage even if white were to play the best move at 7:40.
Magnus calculated 10+ moves ahead, and, seeing a draw there, was impressed how the guy managed to calculate. But, like a true gentleman, he continued to play anyway
I trained with ediz when we were younger we supposed to be nearly equals but i reitred playing chess and he kept going and going goodjob my old friend i wish u the best :)
It's not a blunder. People use that word way too often for things they see are suboptimal according to computer analysis. The kid is already in a losing position... but that was a nice tactic in blitz that might have fooled a less accurate player than Magnus. He was impressed.
Man super GMs are just on a different level, this kid is like 2400 and he made it look so easy building an advantage like that, what the heck does this guy eat 😂😂😂
8:00 was the critical position where all was lost. Magnus was threatening to fork knight and bishop here with Rd6, but it didn't work in this instance because white would reply Bc5 skewering rook and king. Thus after white played Kf2 Magnus played Ke8 to prepare the fork. Kid was winning if he just moved his dark squared bishop in response to this, but instead blundered Bd3, allowing the simple tactic of f5 which kicked the bishop and dropped the knight.
I just checked with an engine and it says that even at 8:00 the game was already -3.0. I guess the A and B pawns are just that unstoppable. The best continuation is given as: 1. Ba5 e4 2. Bb4+ Ke8 3. Kf2 exf3 4. Kxf3 Bf8 5. Bc3 Kd7 6. Bh8 Rd6 7. Nf6+ Kc6 8. Nxh7 Be7 9. Kf4 Rd2 10. Ke3 Rd8...
It's to show who won the game. You can see that Magnus is playing with the black pieces and after they finish, both of the kings are on the black squares. If the white wins, the kings would be on the white squares. If it was draw, both of the kings would be on their own squares.
