I've been using the Breeze litter system as per manufacturer's recommendation for over 4 years. I feel dumb after watching this video, but thank you for shedding light on a more efficient way to use it.
@@jodieodie834 I put a little bit of his regular litter in with the Breeze pellets and put it right next to the other litter box. He understood quickly, and it only took a few days before removing the old box. He didn't mind the new one.
4:45 the pellets are SUPPOSED to go through the scoop. The idea is to just get the poops with the scooper, letting the pellets fall through (and actually I wish the slots were even bigger, because the pellets only barely fit through mine). It is rare for a poop to be smaller than the slats in the scoop, but it happens. I've been using the same setup, but more like the original cattery's video. I have a single Maine Coon. I am using the extra large pan underneath, and I only have to replace the pad every 2 weeks, which means the box I got will likely last me close to 4 years. I get my kiln-dried pellets at a nearby Walmart for about $6-$7, since I haven't otherwise found a nearby equestrian store (or Tractor Supply, as the cattery's video suggested). Best part of this is no smell at all, at least in my opinion. I do wish he tracked less of it out, but it's still not as bad as the old clumping litter.
@@megngarnett I had found horse bedding there once, but they stopped carrying it. Last time I got Feline Pine. A Tractor Supply recently opened nearby, though, so now I have more options
When you mean extra large pan underneath, do you mean just the normal pan it comes with or did you buy an extra large litter pan to place under , like the Cattery video? Wondering possible to do the same for the extra large litter system
This litter box system is the best. Been using for over a year. Only needed 2 bags of litter ($10) and still on the same box of pads and I have 2 cats. Seriously gets rid of cat piss/ammonia smell. Buy a GRILL BRUSH for it... hear me out before going "wtf", I use the bottom metal end to scoop the turds into my scooper instead of fishing for them. You can scoop just the turds instead of having to sift to get the pieces of the litter out which saves $. I scoop the "wet litter" with that too into the slits and then use the brush part of the grill brush to get anything stuck in the slits to fall down into the bottom. It works magically I'm so happy I figured that out. Try it! I also just use a trash can next to the litter box with a button to click for the lid to pop up, put a trash bag in it, and put the turds in there when I scoop until I'm ready to clean the whole thing. Which works if you dont want to splurge on a diaper genie.
I use a small bathroom sized trash can with a tight fitting lid with step-to-open mechanism for the cat turds. I'm not sure how safe cat turds are for the sewage and septic system so I don't flush them. My state banned plastic grocery bags so I use produce bags that seem to fit the trash can ok. I don't smell the cat turds when they're in the trash can with the lid tightly fitted.
I've been looking into using the pine litter, and I'm SO GLAD this popped up on my recommended videos! Rue is SO STINKIN CUTE!!! Good info, and I like you guys, too, of course ;-)
Khloe transitioned to the pellet system very easily. I loaded her box with the pellets and scattered some used litter. She took to the pellets with no issues. I do not use the pads. Her "washroom" is located in my bathroom. So when she poos, I notice it and I scoop it out and flush it away. I empty her box (the bottom one) about every week to 10 days. I am amazed at the savings and the smell or lack of. With regular litter there was always an odor (clean litter or otherwise). Every once in a while she unloads a real stinker but for the most part, I don't notice the poop until I go to the washroom. I LOVE THIS LITTER SYSTEM! She still manages to scatter a few pellets out of the box but much easier to sweep up. Unfortunately, stepping on the pellets during a barefoot, middle of the night pee pee run is kind of like stepping on an itty nitty LEGO. But not quite as painful. 😀
So glad to read that you flush the poop. I am planning on doing the same thing but I've hardly heard about people doing that. It just seems so easy and I've been wondering why more people don't just flush the cat poop just like they do their own.
@@Gothlite-i1l Not to mention the savings. A 40lb bag of pellets lasts me (Khloe) about 6 months. $7.00 for 6 months vs $15+ a month for conventional litter. Kind of a no brainer.
I never comment on DIY videos but thank you so much for your help!! I started last night and I can already tell I’m in love with this system because of how easy it is to clean and the cat genie is a big help
yay! We transitioned about two weeks ago and the cats have taken to it just fine. We also used a diaper genie per your rec and it's felt less like a chore now because we dont always have to run to the trash -- if there are any concerns about smell, just empty out trash more frequently. We did have to get a second litter box to put in the basement and there is no space for sawdust to fall through, so if you want it to be easier -- just get the breeze system and then so phresh litter box for the sawdust.
Oh man that’s so helpful. I couldn’t find a litter box to put under the little rocks like the original ladies video showed. So I actually just gave up on the system. This is brilliant I’m gonna go rebuy this litter box I wish I had thrown my old one away. 😅👍
Thanks for the video. I have been using this system for over a month now and I am very happy with how easy the system is. I dont use the tray portion of the box as you demonstated. Between The Cattery video and your video I was able to make a decision. The litter box system is well worth the cost. It is well made. I purchased the covered box since my cats are kickers. Speaking of kicking, the pellets are much easier and cleaner to sweep up.
I put the litter bin into a cardbox n i cut a window and make a ledge for the cat as well. Reduce the mess on the floor due to the kicking habits of my cats. Hope this helps
Had watched the cattery lady’s video on this and just switched to pine pellets today, was using the regular breeze pellets and tray up til now. It felt AMAZING to throw those trays away once and for all, so liberating! 😅 no more stinky urine filled trays! Your idea of going diagonally with the pads is brilliant, I have some 21x21 pads left over and wanting to use those up, kinda small for this. But diagonal it’ll work so much better! Thanks!! Wolf, Calli, Lakota and Leo thanks you too 🥰 I had 2 cats, and just took in 2 more, so this is going to be so much cheaper, healthier, easier and less stinky!
I saw that’ other ladies video on this system. I totally love this. I had a syfting litter box years ago and, we only had the lousy clay litter. Well we didn’t have that box long. Now I am sorry I tossed that box. Thank you for sharing your information and, view points on this. This is the best idea yet for a litter box system.🤗👍
I find the puppy pads don't work as well as the breeze pads to control odor. So I keep the breeze pads but do replace the pellets with navy beans, not as cheap as the pine pellets but much more gentle on the kitty's paws, work like a charm!
i'm so excited to find this video after finding the cattery's video! i want to switch over to a pine pellet litter system like this to be more green (since clay litter is so terrible for the environment), avoid my kitty's wheat/grass/corn allergy, and also because i've heard great things about the odor control with this setup. i'm very interested in how important you think the puppy pads are to this system; it seems counterproductive to my efforts to be eco-friendly to be throwing away a puppy pad every 2 days for my 2 kitties and was wondering if those using this setup think a biodegradable/compostable litter liner would be effective enough at collecting sawdust and urine in the bottom pan.
Yes the puppy pad is the worst part of this setup by far. We are currently brainstorming potential alternatives actually! The pad soaks up an incredible amount of urine, but soooo much plastic. We are thinking of trying a small amount of silica litter at the bottom instead of a pad. Experiments to be done!
I'm switching my cat to this system. Another video maker suggests putting a small amount of pellets in the bottom of the "catch pan" so if urine goes thru the slats, it can be absorbed by the pellets on the bottom. This person doesn't use puppy pads at all since it is so easy to empty sawdust into a bag. I'm a homeowner, so I'm going to empty the sawdust around my trees and along the fence line (hoping it will kill the weeds there the way mulch would but act as mulch in a good way around shrubs and trees). When I start my compost bin, I'll just empty the sawdust directly into it (for non-edible plants).
@@RuetheSphynx It's been a year, but just found your vid. We use fabric reusable dog pads for our actual dogs, so you could use those, I'm sure. They'll be a little thicker, and you would have to shake them out into a trash bag before washing them in the washer, but it might be a better way?
For anyone using a cat genie, you could also just use an old tidy cats bin lined with a garbage bag with the lid placed back on and take it out when it's full.
Thanks for your tweaks to this system. I found that same video 2 years ago and followed the 2 tier system religiously. My biggest complaint was my baby girl peed on the side of the breeze tray and got caught on the lip of the bottom breeze tray, not dropping in the bottom puppy pad. I am finding clean up easier with putting the pads under the green tray.
For anyone that was intrigued but the diaper genie, they have litter genies. Same concept but meant for cats and a lot cheaper than a diaper genie if you can't find a used one.
I use the Litter Genie so much, I was gifted a breeze system and I think when I combo it with the litter genie it will extend the life of my refills as well, since only the solid waste is going into it.
THANK YOU! I just now bought this (and the litter pan from the 'other video') in anticipation of adopting another kitten (we have a 3yo). You have answered every question I had. (BTW... the Breeze has changed size. Both the open and hooded models are the same size and are too big to fit in the 'add on' pan)
@@lorrainedubzak6654 Does your Breeze have a drawer underneath where the sawdust falls through? I saw another video that made it look like the drawer leaves hardly any room for the sawdust.
Im so glad I found you. Finding a box that fit the bottom is very discouraging so I kinda gave up right there and went with the expensive way. Although I learn that rewashed and recharged the pellet can make a bag of pellets last 3 times longer.
@@RealCheeseOnly That's only for the pellets that come with the system. And the refills are not cheap. Its better to get the wood ones and like Rue's mom said a 40lb will last about 6 months.

Yay I’m So happy I found your video! I had seen the other one and was dragging to get another pan for the bottom. I already have two breeze boxes. My kitten was brought to those. So he is used to the pellets.
@@RuetheSphynx Hi - I’m trying to decide whether to buy a Breeze and use the pine pellets with it - does your version have a drawer underneath where the pad is supposed to go? The only versions of the Breeze I’ve seen for sale online have the drawer, but the one you’re using doesn’t seem to have one. Can you explain how you use the pad (and if you’ve found a replacement for the storebought, environmentally-unfriendly ones)? Thanks!
I say literally all the time as well ! Its a very useful filler vs the others :) Love your video very informative and I am purchasing today!! Thanks post more ! Tips etc.
Thank you so much for the tip on how to get them used from clay to pine litter. I was looking forward to that. I have 3 cats 🐈 🐈🐈 YES! So I spend crazy amounts of 💵 on litter. But one of my cats (Winter) is filling a complain every time because of the texture. And I didn’t know what to do, I didn’t want to go cold turkey because I was afraid of him peeing around my house. So great video. Thanks again 👍🏻😉
I appreciate this video. My cat is going through renal failure and peeing alot so this might be the key to not having 2 gallons of water in the litter. Thanks.
Rather than use a cat genie and have yet more plastic to buy and put in the landfill, I have always used my dog's biodegradable poo bags, which then go directly into the outdoor garbage bin (we have the big ones the trash truck picks up weekly). Also, I think it will be easy to dump the sawdust and clean out the bottom of the collection pan, so I'm skipping the puppy pads altogether. The sustainability issue - and the dust that got all over the baseboards and toilet tank - pushed me to finally change to a more sustainable system. Less money, less dust, better for my cat, better for the earth - big win! Currently we're using finely ground, kiln dried pine sawdust sold as horse bedding. It's inexpensive, but I change it more often than I would need to change the pellet sawdust. It's not a bad system, but I do dump the whole litter box every 5 days or so. But now that she's used to wood, I'm going to gradually add the pellets to transition her to the pellets. I didn't think she'd take to the pellets very easily and she's an old kitty, so I'm trying to make it as easy a transition for her as I can make it. Thanks for a very informative and entertaining video! (p.s. what does the tattoo say? I couldn't make it out sideways LOL
i had mine for 3 months now and I personally don't put a lot of feline pine on it and that has kept my cats from throwing it everywhere. I really do like how yall placed the diaper bc I was folding the dog pee pads but folding it to fit on the bottom of the litter box . it's so strange that this video was recommended to me oh in case someone did know they make cat genies and they are sold for 14 dollars on target and Walmart its a bit price than 5 dollars but cheaper than baby genies.
great follow up - thank you. I will try spritzing the pellets and also mixing them into the current litter. That never occurred to me. I guess because they are so dissimilar. Thank you again.
I am considering to switch to this but I wonder if one could skip the dog mat underneath the number 1 sawdust? Asking for the planet that would prefer waste avoidance (and just the sawdust with number 2 could go into the compostables)
Great alternatives! Just make sure you are not using that compost for agricultural plants. It is not safe to eat the food that comes from that compost unfortunately. ♥️
I've seen bOTH videos now-- and i'm debating on whether to order this-- if I can get the BIG one ( I have 3 cats).. or just find some good nesting boxes the right size and make one... I think I'll look around when I'm out tomorrow doing my shopping and errands, and if I can't find what I want-- I'll order the big one and just NOT use the tray thing. I'm going to be COMPOSTING the sawdust for my roses etc. later.. so I'm not concerned about all the other..
I hope you found what you were looking for! I have seen some people just use 2 storage bins too, they just drill some holes and make their own sifting box. If you're crafty, why not? Thanks for watching our videos @davidwayne9982. We appreciate all of your comments and support! :)

What pan do you use on the bottom to collect the sawdust?! You are using the pan that came with it? I am using the tray still but searching for a deeper solution as I have to change it every 2-3 days. I love the pine pellets though and have been using them for 3 months. I cut puppy pads to fit the tray.
We turned out to be happy with the way it was. You could use the tray laid on the bottom instead of in the tracks to give you more space, or add another litter box under the breeze. I’m sorry I don’t have a measurement for a litter pan. I’m so glad you found something that’s works for you and your fur baby ♥️
Wow this was EXTREMELY helpful! We just got a kitten from the shelter and we’ve never owned a cat before. We just got this system because we heard it was very good, however, the pads and litter pellets are extremely expensive for the long run! Thank you for the tips and also, beautiful sphynx!
If you're using the tidy cats breeze pellets and pads, yes they can be expensive. What they do and others do is slightly modify how the box is used. I think everyone takes out the pad drawer and not use it. The pellets can be bought at hardware stores and feed stores for $5 a bag. Then the pads they use in this video are meant for dogs who are trained to potty on pads... I haven't switched to using pine pellets and just buy the breeze brand pellets and pads on amazon. I do use dog training pads underneath my litter boxes though and you can buy a bag of them for $20 or less depending on size and quantity. Mine were clearance where I work so I bought 3 bags of XL pads 100ct on a huge discount but they were regular price $19.99 and if you use your box like they do in this video then you'd use 1 pad a week probably.
so i started pine pellets today for my cats, i was also using the info from the video you referenced when you started. but my question is where on the bag does it say its kiln-dried? i got the same brand the other video lady used and then you just said yours is kiln- dried too but i never found it on my bag i bought and i never saw it on your bag you showed....i wanna make sure my cats dont get sick one is very very old.
Hey! This is the hardest part of using the pine pellets, finding the kiln dried version. We were lucky enough to speak with an employee who confirmed the specific horse bedding pellets we bought were properly dried. Often times the employees aren’t sure and you will have to reach out to the manufacturer via email and hope they respond. Good luck with the search! Don’t be scared to email a company and confirm they are in fact good to use 😊
@@RuetheSphynx thank you for responding back. at least the bag of stuff i have now should be kiln dried because its the exact bag the other lady had when she was talking about it....so far its working out well as my cats are using the bathroom in it...im excited to see how this works out..
I really don' like using a lot of plastic. I have a compost system out in the woods for the cat litter. I am looking at a way to use this system with compostable materials.
Great idea for flower plants 🥰, but please do not mix the cat compost with vegetable and fruit plants. It can harbor harmful bacteria for humans if eaten😔
Hey! We find the wood pellets don’t absorb much fluid, so without the pads there would probably be puddled urine in the bottom. We haven’t tried it without the pads though, but they do get very urine soaked. Hope that helps!
@@RuetheSphynx I put some pellets on the bottom with the bag and it soaks up the urine. I have been using it for over a week and I love this system. I put a pan under it before but it makes it high and if your cat has problems getting in and out the extra pan underneath won't work.
If the pads aren't used the sawdust on the bottom is wet. If you put pellets on the bottom they absorb some of the urine but its still going to be wet.
Originally yes, we had another larger litter pan underneath to collect the dust and urine. We found it wasn't needed as we change the pad often enough to not need the extra space, so now place the puppy pad in the bottom underneath the sifting portion of the Breeze. Still a work in progress though because those massive plastic puppy pads suck for polluting the Earth.
I know this was posted quite a while ago, but just wanted to mention that we use the Breeze (hooded) box, get the pine pellets at TS, and use the small green scoop to pick up the poo, let the pellets sift through the holes and then flush the poo down the toilet. We're very careful to not flush any pellets and haven't had any problems. We love that it reduced smell so much and is very easy to clean!
Great question, the breeze pellets are smaller and are used for longer periods of time. The wood pellets (kiln dried ☺️) are larger and rough around the edges. It doesn’t last as long but it is biodegradable and better for the environment. ♥️
I bought the Vibrant Life Extra Large Cat Litter Pan from walmart online. I found someone else suggest it for the XL and even though I was skeptical of the dimensions fitting, it works perfectly. I'd highly recommend it.
Try Breeze non disintegrating pellets where the urine goes right through the Peloton to the pad no dust no tracking as if you want put a couple of your Pine pellets on the bottom for smell you can watch the breeze pellets use them over and over again
I am thinking about changing to this type litter system, I have a cat that I rescued from my local shelter, she was declawed in the front, I have read comments on other breeze litter systems such as yours not to use this system with a declawed cat is that true? How long did it take your cat to transfer over?
I'm struggling right now. I switched to this system because I hate clay. I love everything about it when it comes to my male. He acclimated and uses it without a problem. The female, though, seems a bit more sensitive. She first peed on the ground around the box, so I put a puppy pad down just in case. Now, she prefers to pee and poo on it instead of the box. When she does decide to use the box, she won't go very far in and winds up peeing on the lip, which then sprays down onto the ground just outside the box. Sprinkling a little bit of clay on top might work sometimes for her, but then it clogs up the open slots. I really don't want to go back, but I might have to get her a separate box with some other clay alternative so she'll consistently poop there. *also want to add that another point for me doing this is to cut down on waste (I know, puppy pads are almost making up the difference). I don't want to use poop bags, though, or some system of holding the waste. I just flush the poo down the toilet, which for me is pretty close to the litter box room.
It does work allways smell likely pine the only down fall is when they poop you take some of those pellets out too .i just got a litter bot it cleans itself I don't want to play around with the litter. Any more I just lift out a bag throw it away
Hey! We originally tried a larger pan for more dust collection, but found we preferred cleaning it more often, and went back to the original bottom pan.
That don’t make sense, the breeze system bottom pan has a hole in it where the tray goes in it. This don’t look anything like the actual breeze bottom pan
Oh I just rewatched it I guess u don’t show the empty bottom of the pan so maybe it does have the hole and tray. Too bad I was hoping you found a perfectly fitting deeper bottom pan.
Hey! I’m not sure what that is, but we buy it at Tractor & Co in the US. I’ve seen it at animal feed stores as well that sell traditional horse products!

Hi! Tx for the update! I would like to ask you how is the urine smell? With my little demon, it used to stink horribly with all litters that we used before even after one use, except for the Aborbx from Arm and hammer. This stuff is amazing at sealing the smell, the problem is that it is ultra dusty! my house looks like a war zone and I don't think it's really good for our lungs either, so I am looking to find something that is dust free, but can also keep that Chernobyl urine of hers in check!
Hahaha, thank you for the laugh ♥️. Agreed, we liked that litter too but sooo dusty indeed! We found the pellets were good at sealing the smell, but if it is that bad perhaps look at healthier food options. Higher quality treats, stay far away from temptations (junk food for cats). Make sure your fur baby is drinking lots of water. Good luck finding what works ♥️.
@@RuetheSphynx You are right! She does get a few temptations nuggets every day! But I had also found from Great Jack's freeze dried meet from chicken, salmon and turkey! Especially if you can find the dog variety, it's cheaper, but it's basically the same thing, as they only put the meat, no other ingredients. It's as close as I managed to get her to a raw diet. Unfortunately she's not a big fan of water, so I try to get her the fancy treats with sauce and soup for cats. I can't use the fountain because she pushes over the lid to get to the motor and in doing so, the water spills on the floor. I tried tyeing it up but she just chewed and nuzzeled it until she spilled it again. So regular bowl for her, and she rarely goes for it.
Absolutely, but man does the amount of plastic with this system suck! We are looking at ways to reduce plastic as much as possible. The thought of a puppy pad floating in the ocean for a whale to swallow is so sad :(
i have this system, and it is a different pellet than what yr showing. i've used the equine pellets too but that is not this system. when i used the pellets we would go through at least 2 bags a month. it looks like you've made this system work for what you need tho. i also change the pads at least 1x per day... although they are advertised as needing to be changed 1x per week for 1 cat... i have the XL one and two cats... anyway... it would be neat to see what your thoughts would be if you actually followed the breeze litter system.
Do you actually need the pads? I’m trying to go zero waste and while I can live with buying the pellets in a plastic bag, I don’t think I would want to keep using those disposable pads.
Update: I tried the system without the pads and they work great for me and my two cats. I add enough pellets to soak the pee and add a few pellets in the bottom to absorb the extra urine that might leak through.
I don't have a sphinx so I can't speak to that but to limit waste and keep from using the pads I started adding a very thin layer of pellets to the bottom pan whenever I empty it. Prior to using this method I would find that when it was used after cleaning there would be a bit of a puddle mainly because there was no sawdust to catch it. When I put the thin layer of pellets in the bottom pan it soaks up those puddles and makes a good base of sawdust for future number 1's :) I used the pads a few times but I was really looking to eliminate the use of anything that doesnt break down and for a normal cat this seems to work very well for me.
Petsmart is where we got ours. Depending on where you live, Petsmart in Canada is more expensive than the ones in the US. Even with the currency conversion! ☺️
Hi! So you said that you went back to using the original bottom tray but what exactly was shown in this video? Is that the original bottom tray that we see in the video or is it another one? Thanks!
What do you do with the green sifting tray when you have to take it out and clean the bottom tray out? Is there a clean tray that you keep separately so that you don’t put the nasty sifting tray straight on the ground?
I use a top entry litter box for my cats since I have dogs and an open litter box is a no no. So I have been using pellets, scooping the poop everyday, and then every few days I will dump the pellets into a litter sifter to collect the pee dust, then pour the whole pellets back into the top entry box. It's an extra step but so much more worth it compared to using traditional cat litter that was much harder to scoop out pee and poop everyday. I also have a litter genie I scoop the poo into and the pee dust.
I have the Breeze system and I am just two weeks into using it. I found that it is hard to keep the smell under control when the cats have diarrhea. I have two kittens so they have diarrhea a lot. Do your pellets work okay with diarrhea because the Breeze pellets are terrible with diarrhea?
Hey! Sorry to hear about your kitties having messy bowel movements. Unfortunately I don't think any wood pellets would be great at absorbing diarrhea, or masking the smell. You might need to stick with traditional litter until their bowel movements are under control. Good luck, I hope you find something that helps!
Yeah just got 3 kittens and same issue. I use the litter locker and I know they usually poop righter after eating and I scoop straight away but it is ghastly 😷
I have the Breeze litter box too. Am I correct that you place the slotted tray on top instead of underneath where it’s supposed to go? And the pads inside the bottom box? Just want to be sure. Thank you!

What brand of grill brush do you use? Having a hard time visualising what you mean, doesn't the poop and pellets get stuck on the brush??
Can you do a video?
I use a small bathroom sized trash can with a tight fitting lid with step-to-open mechanism for the cat turds. I'm not sure how safe cat turds are for the sewage and septic system so I don't flush them. My state banned plastic grocery bags so I use produce bags that seem to fit the trash can ok.
I don't smell the cat turds when they're in the trash can with the lid tightly fitted.
I love Rue!! I love the way you talk and treat her too!! She is your real baby. A very informative video, thank you so much!!!!
I've been looking into using the pine litter, and I'm SO GLAD this popped up on my recommended videos! Rue is SO STINKIN CUTE!!! Good info, and I like you guys, too, of course ;-)
Thanks Cynthia! She really is stinking cute, and it's dangerous because she know it :D
OMG, I spent so much on Feline Pine... I can’t even.
I love how excited you were about this litter and your cat! That inspired me to switch over.
Awesome! We love hearing success stories 😻
Rue is awesome, her and the editing gave me a good chuckle. Thanks for the update.
Oh man that’s so helpful. I couldn’t find a litter box to put under the little rocks like the original ladies video showed. So I actually just gave up on the system. This is brilliant I’m gonna go rebuy this litter box I wish I had thrown my old one away. 😅👍
Thanks for the tips! This will help me save money as a college student and keep my kitty happy 🐱 💖
Thank you I was on the fence about the pine but since you cleared up that they are pine oil free I think I’m gunna try your system out!
Excellent video. I've watched a few about this litter system and will now share THIS one as the definitive, streamlined one to watch. 😊
Very late reply...Wow! thank you so much, we appreciate the support so much! We are so glad it works for you, take care :)
You can get a water bottle mister and lightly spray the top layer of litter with water and it will be softer.
I did that to get my girl's used to the pine pellets and it worked out nicely 🥰
Thank you, Betty!
Rue is so dang cute! Thank you for posting this update to your previous video, I really can't wait to get started on this system!
Thanks!! Wolf, Calli, Lakota and Leo thanks you too 🥰
I had 2 cats, and just took in 2 more, so this is going to be so much cheaper, healthier, easier and less stinky!
Never heard of beans! Thank you for the suggestion!! Agreed on the pads but they are just way too expensive for how little you get.
How are the navy beans working out? How often do you change them?
i'm so excited to find this video after finding the cattery's video! i want to switch over to a pine pellet litter system like this to be more green (since clay litter is so terrible for the environment), avoid my kitty's wheat/grass/corn allergy, and also because i've heard great things about the odor control with this setup. i'm very interested in how important you think the puppy pads are to this system; it seems counterproductive to my efforts to be eco-friendly to be throwing away a puppy pad every 2 days for my 2 kitties and was wondering if those using this setup think a biodegradable/compostable litter liner would be effective enough at collecting sawdust and urine in the bottom pan.
As someone who used to have Guinea Pigs, I was going to suggest Fleece and Towels and putting them in a Guinea Pig wash bag to throw in your washer?
@@ellamay3816great idea! I have a litter trained rabbit and we use brown paper bags as litter box liners instead of the plastic pee pads
I’m so glad you found something that works for both you and your fur baby ♥️
For anyone that was intrigued but the diaper genie, they have litter genies. Same concept but meant for cats and a lot cheaper than a diaper genie if you can't find a used one.
I use the Litter Genie so much, I was gifted a breeze system and I think when I combo it with the litter genie it will extend the life of my refills as well, since only the solid waste is going into it.
I have the same system, and love it too. Strongly recommend 😊
THANK YOU!
I just now bought this (and the litter pan from the 'other video') in anticipation of adopting another kitten (we have a 3yo).
You have answered every question I had.
(BTW... the Breeze has changed size. Both the open and hooded models are the same size and are too big to fit in the 'add on' pan)
What are you using as the bottom pan? I'm trying to find one so I can do this hack lol
Breeze modified the design a little bit making the side walls with more of a slope so the urin drains more efficiently.
@@lorrainedubzak6654 Does your Breeze have a drawer underneath where the sawdust falls through? I saw another video that made it look like the drawer leaves hardly any room for the sawdust.
Thanks for the transition tips. My 9 mo kittens have not been excited about the idea of walking on the pellets.
Im so glad I found you. Finding a box that fit the bottom is very discouraging so I kinda gave up right there and went with the expensive way. Although I learn that rewashed and recharged the pellet can make a bag of pellets last 3 times longer.
I don’t understand your comment. Are you saying you can wash the used pellets and reuse them? Could you explain this? Thanks.
@@RealCheeseOnly That's only for the pellets that come with the system. And the refills are not cheap. Its better to get the wood ones and like Rue's mom said a 40lb will last about 6 months.

@@denisepinet9472 Thanks! I ended up ordering a different sifting litter box. Will have to see how it works out. I’ll keep your pool-noodle idea in mind!
Yay I’m So happy I found your video! I had seen the other one and was dragging to get another pan for the bottom. I already have two breeze boxes. My kitten was brought to those. So he is used to the pellets.
Excellent video!!! I have shared!!! Love the tweaks, and thorough demonstration. Your video on this system is THE BEST!! WELL DONE! 👍❤🐈
Thank you Kristen ☺️
Glad you found it useful!
Thanks!
Thanks for the help guys.
I say literally all the time as well ! Its a very useful filler vs the others :)
Love your video very informative and I am purchasing today!! Thanks post more ! Tips etc.
This is such a great informative video! I learned so much! Thank you 😊
Thank you so much for the tip on how to get them used from clay to pine litter.
Try litter attractant too. That's how I got mine to switch
kelley ryan what’s litter attractant?
@@kitana370 search for it on amazon. It's just this stuff that kind of looks like cat nip that attracts the cats to the box
I appreciate this video. My cat is going through renal failure and peeing alot so this might be the key to not having 2 gallons of water in the litter. Thanks.
We use actual nappy bags for our cat poo, instead of the dog poo bags. We find they are cheaper per bag and a bonus, they are slightly scented.
I have a litter genie. I never thought to put normal bags in it!
No worries! Glad to have maybe helped you out :)
Thanks to take your time to do this video very well done and good explanation.☺
Thank you very much 😊
I am considering to switch to this but I wonder if one could skip the dog mat underneath the number 1 sawdust?

Roxanne, do you use the pads with the Breeze XL? I’m considering buying a Breeze, but am concerned about the longterm use of plastic in the pads.
Hi which exact tub did you guys purchase for the bottom part?
I'd like to know this, too!
Those diaper genie are gross.
Take it from someone who has to enter other people's residences......
We can smell it....as soon as we enter it smells like diaper poo and pee
It's gross. Empty your trash everyday if you have a kid. It's not fooling anyone.

I never smell mine. I love the litter genie. Keeps it all in one place

Hope you like it! 😊
I noticed you didn’t use a extra box like the other video from the cattery. I like your idea it has a cleaner look.
She does have the extra box. On the bottom. It's not what comes with the Tidy Cat product. Right?
She’s using the bottom that comes with the system.
@@lindalawton300 I know what she is using. No need for any more answers this is a year old comment. I have my own system with using Pine pallets in my stainless steel Iprimo box which i love. Happy Litter box cleaning.
What kind of scoop do you use.
We prefer metal scoops for the sturdiness. Both for pellets and normal litter. 😊
Did you put the contents of the whole bag of pine pellets?
No, just enough to fill the box :)
Thank you I just learned some new things , loved your clear tips!❤
Glad it was helpful!
What is the litter box you are using under the breeze pan??? I want that box :)
This is the question I was scrolling to find. Unfortunately, you’ve gotten no answer 😞🤔
so i started pine pellets today for my cats, i was also using the info from the video you referenced when you started. but my question is where on the bag does it say its kiln-dried? i got the same brand the other video lady used and then you just said yours is kiln- dried too but i never found it on my bag i bought and i never saw it on your bag you showed....i wanna make sure my cats dont get sick one is very very old.
@@RuetheSphynx thank you for responding back. at least the bag of stuff i have now should be kiln dried because its the exact bag the other lady had when she was talking about it....so far its working out well as my cats are using the bathroom in it...im excited to see how this works out..
thanks for the tips... you give me a lot of goods ideas!😃
I've seen the other video & like you, I think this will be best suited for me & my 1 cat. Thanks.
Very late reply... I hope it is still working for you in all the right ways!! Thanks for watching :)
How do you replace the bottom, and where did you get that pan you put under the bottom?
I’m using pine pellets and a sifter box. Works well
I just ordered a sifter box but my pellets keep going through
I use the liter genie…it is smaller than the diaper genie. May try your hack with the liter genie using some large zip lock bags.
I hope it worked out for you!
We use this system for our 5 cats
I do change the piddle pads about every third day
Thank you for your comment on having 5 cats. I have 3. I was wondering how long this litter would last.
Where’d you get the different bottom pan? Looks like it fits perfectly...
Great video! Do you really need to use pads?
Is the box setup a Breeze Litter sifting pan inside an aftermarket pan?
Originally yes, we had another larger litter pan underneath to collect the dust and urine. We found it wasn't needed as we change the pad often enough to not need the extra space, so now place the puppy pad in the bottom underneath the sifting portion of the Breeze. Still a work in progress though because those massive plastic puppy pads suck for polluting the Earth.
Thank you so much guys!!! Very helpful...
Flushing cat poop is really bad for the environment, unfortunately. The poop can spread toxoplasmosis.
What is the bottom pan that it is sitting in?
Good to give an update. Have been considering this option
Thanks! Let us know if you have any questions :)
Which Pellets are easier on your Kitties paws ? The Breeze pellets or wood pellets.
Great question, the breeze pellets are smaller and are used for longer periods of time. The wood pellets (kiln dried ☺️) are larger and rough around the edges. It doesn’t last as long but it is biodegradable and better for the environment. ♥️
Which Pellets does Rue use?
Can the pine pellets be used with the new breeze XL?
Thank you for this video! Where can I find the white, curved-edge lower litter box that you use here? It fits perfectly under the Breeze system.
Do you know which litter pan I can buy for the XL ? Thanks much, love your videos.

I thought people are saying there is no smell with these pine pellets, but you are saying that there is a smell.

Is that the original bottom pan? or did you get another one that makes more dead space for saw dust?

Can one use plastic litter tray liners instead of puppy pads?
The pads soak up a lot of urine. If you didn’t mind cleaning up liquid pee you could potentially go without. We wouldn’t really recommend it though.
Ive seen some people put a little bit of the pellets on the bottom as well where the “pee dust” goes to help soak up any additional liquid.
Chiefin Mina such a great idea
Update: I tried the system without the pads and they work great for me and my two cats. I add enough pellets to soak the pee and add a few pellets in the bottom to absorb the extra urine that might leak through.
@@5t3f4n14 that's great! I'm glad it worked out for you. I'm getting my kittens this Friday and I want to transition them to pine pellets.
I have a question 😁 do you need to put a doggy pee pad underneath? Have you tried using the litter box without one?
It’s definitely needed! Rue can completely saturate a urine pad very quickly. Without it, it would just be a standing urine puddle at the bottom.
Great video with lots of information!
Thank you! Let us know if you have any questions 😃
Where did you get great choice dog pads
?
Petsmart is where we got ours. Depending on where you live, Petsmart in Canada is more expensive than the ones in the US. Even with the currency conversion! ☺️
Hi! So you said that you went back to using the original bottom tray but what exactly was shown in this video? Is that the original bottom tray that we see in the video or is it another one? Thanks!
Hey! The bottom tray is the one that comes with the litter box.
@@RuetheSphynx Okay, thank you so much for clearing that up! I really wasn't sure.
What are the measurments of the new pan for bottom? Trying to find and I cant find one anywhere
Where did you get the cat shirt ?
I cant find ez equine pellets near me is their others that are safe?
What a beautiful cat
Thank you 😊
She’s a cute little stinker that’s for sure!
Do you use a different bottom box or is that the box that already is apart of the system?
Switch to a homemade chicken stew (with dark meat, some liver, giblets, cat safe veggies, brown rice, kitty vitamin and bone meal.)
No more diarrhea!
I have the Breeze litter box too. Am I correct that you place the slotted tray on top instead of underneath where it’s supposed to go? And the pads inside the bottom box? Just want to be sure. Thank you!
You are correct! 😊
