I’d love to know how you got your cats to use it (maybe make a video?) We purchased the XL system and followed the guidelines. All that ended up happening was two overly messy and smelly regular litter boxes and a clean, unused tidy breeze. I couldn’t hand the ammonia smell building up anymore from three cats.

We started with the Breeze XL 5 1/2 weeks ago and we love it. We got the bigger one because our newly adopted girl (not quite 3 months ago) was 16 lbs. when we got her and her original Arm & Hammer sifting box, while perfectly serviceable, seemed a bit small for her. She’s about 14 lbs now, but she’s still a chonk.
The enclosure of the XL makes sure she’s entirely in the box and she seems to like it. She’s only used her sifting box a couple of times. And while a few pellets escape because she picks them up with her toes, it’s FAR better than the litter she tracks out of the other box. Pellets can be picked up and tossed back in the box. I get the Amazon versions of the pads which was $15 for 20 pads and they work just as well. I also am getting the pellets on subscription too which comes to about $12.50 per 7 lb. bag. Since Nina likes this box and we’re not dealing with odor and litter scatter, it’s worth it. Very satisfied cat parents here!

I have the original & hooded i use feline pine pallets and a pad under for easier clean but also i have muti cats and fosters so the pad also helps with that i find it does help out alot fo me but i do wish the scoop was bigger and the hood (part that slides ) wouldn't pop off so easy but other than that eye buy it again

i used to use the arm & hammer sifting box with wood pellets, but they tracked a lot and i would find disintegrated pellets everywhere, so i tried this system. my cat is pretty long and pretty quickly i found that the arm and hammer was pretty small for him, so i got the breeze XL. there's still some tracking with the pellets for me, but as some other comments mention it's pretty easy to just toss them back in. the box also has high sides and since it's much larger, he doesn't reach out to scratch at nonexistent pellets or kick out the pellets as much.
i personally feel that the odor control is better than my experience with wood pellets, but i think it has a lot to do with my cat and my style of cleaning. i would often have trouble seeing solid waste as it would get covered in disintegrated wood pellets and would have to be sifted and dug out. with the breeze pellets, solid waste stays on top and is a stark contrast to the white pellets. i find that it doesn't smell as much, and using the scoop, the pellets fall through easily so i can just scoop the waste into a bag without much pellet loss.
since budget was important for me, i also found puppy pads that fit the system at my local daiso, at a set of 10 for 1.50. i still have two of the original three that came with my system as a back up, but find these pads to be sufficient. i'm very happy with the system, and it's a lot less overwhelming for me to clean the litter box and keep the odors and messiness at bay. my main issues are the tracking which i think just might happen with any litter for my cat, and the occasional times i forget to tuck the drawer back in and find liquid waste on the floor. that's just user error though and something to remember!
if it ever gets to be too expensive, i might eventually go back to wood pellets with this box instead of the arm and hammer, but i think i like that these pellets are always solid and the waste doesn't get lost and covered in wood dust.

I loved using the pine pellets, but it turned out my cat is allergic to the pine pellets! She started exhibiting very strange behavior like she had a UTI, But she didn’t. She also started chewing at her feet and had extreme anxiety. It took us an expensive vet visit and finally we figured out it was the pellets. Just posting in case someone else sees this behavior in their cat.

I like this box because I can monitor my cat’s urine because one has kidney disease and has blood in the urine and urinates a lot. This means I can see urine color. I have to change the pad every day due to excessive urination because of the illness. I like this system and will continue to use it.

    • @hayleyrowan6670
      @hayleyrowan6670 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

@@camross5423 I have not really tried any alternatives to clumping litter, but some of the reasons some people don't like it is because it is heavy, and therefore a bit more arduous to purchase and change out (lightweight versions tend to produce more scatter and tracking). Some clay litters are really dusty and contribute to sinus issues. Some have poor odor control. It's also very wasteful since it's not compostable, recyclable, or reusable.
But the pros are that it's easily available, cats tend to like it and readily use it, it's relatively inexpensive, and it's relatively easy to clean. Many of the alternatives just aren't really much better or practical.
I am interested in trying pine, but wary of changing my litter systems lest my cats don't adjust well.

So, I use the zeolite pellets, and the Amazon pads. I think the Amazon pads were 20 for $14 and they work just as well. This helps reduce the cost a LOT also! Hi. I used this system around 8 years ago.
    I absolutely loved it!!!
My 2 cats adjusted well to using and sharing it.
Once a week for the pads and a complete switch of pellets every 30 days worked well.
I checked and scooped on a regular basis. Once a month I would clean the entire system. Easy to clean. The only issue I had was minor. The pellets would get trapped in the drainage slots. They then would have to be pushed out. Hopefully, that issue has been resolved. Mats without the openings would resolve the issue you displayed.
As far as the pellets around the box from the cats scratching it out? I swept those pellets up and put them back into the system. No wasted pellets. Discard Any that are visibly soiled of course.
I preferred this system over automatics. There is nothing to break, and I found it much easier to keep clean.
I responded as I'm considering getting more cats. Seeing what's out here.
So happy this system is still available.😉
    Thank u!

Also: now that I am going to be trying this tray and won't have to do the shaking either, I could end up with less mess. Because my tray-shaking, and not my cat's digging, is actually the main cause of the mess on the floor.

My recently adopted cat , Gravy, came with the XL box and it is HUGE! Then again, he’s a pretty big guy so he needs a large box. I live in a very small apartment, but managed to find a spot for it in the bathroom. After I got over the shock of the size, I’ve come to really like this system. I never smell any urine odor and Gravy only occasionally kicks out a few pellets, which are easy to pick up and toss back into the box. It’s easy to scoop the poop out. It’s expensive, but given the small space we live in, it’s totally worth it to me.

Been using pine pellets for horse bedding as my cat litter. Get pee pee pads from a warehouse store. New style Breeze Box fits better in a Van Ness Giant high sided Littler box than in the pet Mate large litter box that is recommended by older videos.
I do use two pads in it because it’s big.
I have bought duplicate trays for all of my litter boxes as it is easy to have one ready to go and set the Tidy Cat litter box into it…unless the Tidy Cat litter box needs washing.
Cheap and easy. Most cost is upfront and will not have to be spent but once. Tractor Supply Co. Has 40 lbs of the pellets under $7. I spread the sawdust on the far side of my backyard. Ammonia is a fertilizer, you know.
I’ll never go back to conventional cat litter.

I have 3 cats and I use just ONE of the XL system. It works perfect, dont waste your money and space on unneeded I haven't needed to change the pellets yet, just had to keep adding when they get low. The cleanup for tracking is so easy and eliminates wasted of pellets , as long as you dont use a litter mat like the one in video. This is the cleanest system I have used so far.

7:20 I also use Feline Pine (wood pallet) but my cat's urine would still drop down to the puppy pad and gets absorbed, along with disintegrated pine saw dust. I would say only 10-20% liquid would be absorbed by the wood pallets, the rest of the urine would still drop down to the tray underneath, so its safe to have a puppy pad there at all times (otherwise the tray would smell bad after few days of using...)

Great review! I found this review very detailed which is great. I have a breeze system and I have two originals size and my cats don't find it small. I like the convenience of the breeze system. Before the breeze, I was using worlds best cat litter and scooping out all the time. So to me I really like this system. The smell is less and it's less work.No scooping out pee. I highly recommend this system. I do understand that you're saying it could be costly using their pellets and pads. I tried using the pine pellets and I found it to be very messy. I found that it got all over the place inside and out of the box. I did find that the smell was controlled more with the pine pellets. I have a diabetic cat and he pees a lot so the pine pellets did not work for me unless I was doing something wrong.

We cannot stand the fragrance of the pads or the pellets of this system. We use regular puppy pads in the tray and the kiln-dried pine pellets for the litter. The puppy pads and wood pellets are much less expensive than the original system's supplies. The puppy pad gets changed out 2x a week. It works great, cuts way down on the work of keeping the tray clean and the order is minimal.

Use a different mat (or no mat at all), then you wouldn't have those pellets stuck in those holes. My (big) cat every now and then would kick the pellets out of the box, but it's so much easier to gather them. You can pick them up with your fingers as opposed to having to sweep the dust. And since there's no clay dust, the cat never drags dust onto the floor. His feet are dust free when he leaves the box. And of course, I only use this system with wood pellets. I only have to attend to the litter box once a day (pick up poops and comb through the pellets) and change the pad once a week (provided you use a different bigger sawdust collecting pan).

  • @jennam2449

I was using pine pellets but I grew to dislike them because I was allergic to them and the tracking was terrible. Sawdust in many areas of the floor. So I tried this system of breeze pellets and I love it. No tracking! I use the Amazon generic pads too for saving money. And I heard about a great hack which is using navy beans instead of litter. So now I use half breeze pellets and half navy beans and my cats are fine with it. Pinto beans are cheaper but I like using navy beans because they are white so you can see if they have been soiled by fecal matter and throw them away. I bought 3 pounds of navy beans at the grocery store for $5. Not bad. And they don’t absorb the urine so it drips down into the tray below.

  • @shirleywilliam7764

I had reservations about having cats due to the ammonia odor that I would smell when I went to other peoples homes.
I now have 2 cats and use the Tidy Cat XL. I found that the original pellets that came with this system did not absorb the odor enough. In addition when I would pick up the solid waste, some of the pellets were getting stuck to it and so I was discarding a few with every clean up. These pellets are not cheap!
I switched to the pine pellets on the recommendations of another user. A 40Lbs bag costs between $6 - 8 dollars. The bag lasts almost 2 months and it absorbs the urine smell completely. Even if i have to toss out a few pellets during the clean up process, the cost is worth it!
My biggest complaint is that despite the size of the system, the bottom tray opening is half the size of the system which means you cannot use a larger pad to accommodate for more waste so pass through that way you would not have to change the pad every other day.
I wish the bottom tray had holes on the entire surface!

I love my tidy cats breeze system. I have one cat, and I'm pretty bad about changing the pellets and pads though, so my cost is pretty low.
I originally poured the entire bag of pellets in when I first got the system, removing only the soiled pellets. I finally changed the pellets after 8 months and gave the tray a good rinse. I might've been a little nose blind to it, but I didn't notice a stench. I now only use enough pellets to provide a thin layer, about 1.5 lbs, of pellets in the box and will change it every 4 months.
I use one litter pad every 11 days. After that, I notice a stench, and the pad is saturated.
I have minimal issue with pellets getting outside of the box. Even if I did have more come out, I love that you don't have to sweep daily.
For a 10 pack of litter mats at $10 and a 7lb bag for $15, I'd say my monthly cost is about $4 per month.

I’ve switched to the Feline Pine wood pellet litter and am trying to figure out if I need a new box. Currently have a very large hooded box (one cat, large Maine coon type, pees outside the box if it’s too short).
I watched the other video where you try all the different litter boxes and a sifting box (I think it was arm & hammer brand) with the wood pellets looked super messy to clean and I didn’t like that.
Would you recommend this box for the wood pellets (looks like the gap under the holes makes a big difference) or is there another box you’d recommend for the wood pellets? I do worry the tray underneath won’t hold enough saw dust. Also worried the walls are too short.

We recently purchased the extra large box version kit for our 3 cats. We used the 2 bags of pellet litter it came with simultaneously. However, we switched to the amazon scented pads for this system because they are significantly less expensive. Because of 1 of our cats, who is a diabetic and pees in very large amounts, we use two pads per day. However, the litter itself is holding up pretty well after 2 weeks. Also, the clay litter tracking is gone, as well as the clay tread marks on our wood flooring. There have been a few pellets outside the box area, but that’s as far as it gets. Another plus is there is absolutely no more dust! Clean up is a breeze. Finally, since we now have urine pads to deal with, we also purchased an odor lock auto trash bin to deal with any linger waste smell from trash. With that said, we are so happy with it, that we’re actually getting rid of our 2 litter robots.

I’m a brand new Kitty daddy and picked this system out based on consumer reviews. My 18 week old Tabby loves it, I did however double the amount of breeze pellets and it seems to work great, I don’t have any experience prior to this so I can’t really be objective. There aren’t any pellets outside the box and scooping out the clumped pellets with feces is easy. I have purchased 50lbs of pine pellets and will try them at the 30 day point. Started on 10/17/2020. No matt needed and no odor.

@@ditan07 yes! I tried the Pine pellets as a number of people had recommended. I found that the pine pellets did not act at all as good as the Tidy Cats Breeze pellets. They don’t clump well and the feces falls apart all over the place and you have to go hunting for the pieces. Additionally, the saw dust that falls through to the bottom where you would have the absorbing pad was a real mess. The saw dust gets all over the underside of the box and you have to disassemble the unit in order to clean out all the saw dust. So I immediately emptied out the pine pellets and went back to the Zeolite pellets and added the pee pad to the tray in the bottom. In other words, used it as directed. My personal experience has taught me that the zeolite pellets with the puppy pad is the way to go. I even went so far as to buy the XL version of this system as my fur baby is getting bigger, much bigger and I wanted to give her a little more privacy. It works incredibly well. The only thing I do that’s different is I prefer to use one more bag of zeolite pellets in the box as it gives my kitty more pellets to move around and she likes to cover things up well. I have no tracking, great odor control and it’s gentle on my kitties feet.
      Best!

I've been using the Breeze litter box (XL size) for about a month. I stopped using the tray because there's not enough clearance to accommodate the sawdust that gets sifted down into the holes. However, I've continued using a puppy pad underneath. You say "you aren't going to have to use those puppy pads" but I've found that the pads are saturated with urine along with the sawdust. So, if you choose to use the tray without the pad won't the "catch tray" be quite messy if the pad isn't there to hold the wetness??

I bought the kit for like $70 last year and we used it for a few months with my three cats. It did not work for us. Too shallow and low, the grate and scooper would get gross too. We were throwing away pellets stuck on the solid waste $$. The cats loved swatting the pellets around the floor and I was concerned about ingestion. Someone suggested using white beans as an eco friendly and cheap option, but it didn't really change anything. It still smelled and was a hassle to deal with.

The trick to this litter box is to start them with a large amount of litter until the cats get use to it.. once in habit, you gradually reduce the litter until you are barely using maybe a 1 cup of litter just to give them something to scratch around. then they are basically just pooping on plastic and you aren't having to waste the litter much. it goes very far then. this is what i do with 1 cat.
but only do that if you are going to clean the litter box daily. leave a lot if you are going to be gone for a while.

My cats had used this litter box with pine pellets over 3 years. I think it was great. However, if my husband clean the litter box, he wouldn't mix the litter and let the pine dust drop to the lower level. Over time, the upper level litter was terrible. In order to let my husband clean the litter box more appropriately, our cats are using non-clumping litter with a big trash bag and a regular litter box right now. He only needs to throw the whole bag of the used litter away every week, and clean the feces every day. It works great. Much more simple for him. Plus it's inexpensive and cats love clay litter.

Hello there! Even though pine pellets and silica litter aren't exactly a natural pair, I think you should be able to gradually mix a little bit of pine pellets in with the silica. From there, treat the transition like any shift to a new litter box-place the Breeze next to the old box, transfer a bit of waste from the first box to the new one, and let your cats explore it. From there, let the old box go without cleaning for a couple of days to make the new one more appealing.
      Hope this helps!

@Heth R thanks so much. I have made the switch, and my cat won’t pee in it. She only poops in it but pees next to the box. Very frustrated as she does this with any kind of litter I try.

Thanks for the review!! I'm kind of super intrigued by this litter box. I wonder if one could modify the box somehow to use it with regular clumping litter in case the cats don't care for this new type.
Could you possibly do a review on a new cat litter? I've recently been recommended a cat litter called ökocat. The long hair formula in particular. Have you tried it or heard of it. I'm interested in your opinion. It is a clumping wood pellet litter. Thanks!

Hi Makenna, we'll consider reviewing Okocat! Thank you for your feedback.

Really helpful review. Thank you. I'm going to get the wood pellets and give this a try. My question for you: I have two cats, would you recommend the larger size boxes? Or maybe one large and one regular?

With two kitties, I would go for two large ones. The general rule of thumb is three boxes for two cats (one for each, plus an additional one), so the bigger, the better.

More than one box per cat is nothing but selling more product. Even this company sells the large box for a multi cat household.
