We dont know shit. Thats the one sole thing that seperates me from everyone. If we could look at the paths we roll through as simply a choice to spend your existance in such a manner rather than forcing a neccesity to follow a stricken line across a specific plane that each individual is expected to balance on and fear falling into the "condemning" realities that swirl around the common. Its fun to play with the given paths, to play with the thoughts of others that are taken so siriously in a manner of appreciation for their concepts, but to not be able to step back and make fun of it and know that its simply a manifestation of our thoughts is absurd, yet also being willing to accept any sort of truth given it comes to a supreme moment of conclusion that simply manifests through a transition that would be far beyond any transformation that has been experience if it is even a possibility.

The intelligent position is to be humble honest and discerning, and to not act out of the ego. Sadly that won’t get you very far in modern capitalist society!! The “winners” in that game seem to need to step on necks, have an enormous ego and be very confident even when they know they don’t really know shit!!

Believe it or not. I have been selling the same story to my friends for at least 15 years. The funny thing is I was sure it is not my idea. It was like a radio broadcast bit by bit directly to my thoughts. It happened when I was using my mobile phone. In one moment I completed the puzzle I had in my mind for years. It took me over 15 years to find Terence. After 3 minutes of the first video I found the last piece from the middle of my puzzle. I am cannabis user for over 15 years too. It helped for sure. I have never taken any other drug though. I don't think I need anything. Things that shred my mind daily are astonishing enough. Patterns and codes are emerging everywhere.

The weird thing is that I feel it with marijuana, which I looked for it in internet and I couldn’t find similar experiences with it.

Thankfully, because of the internet, and Terrence, many people have actually outgrown their culture much earlier
25 Jan 2021: 1 year after originally after this comment, I still believe that Terrence has much wisdom, but his views are fundamentally flawed. Christ lived and died and rose, but Terrence does not confess it. The Bible talks about people like Terrence. “having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” 2 Timothy 3:5. From Terrance McKenna, I have turned away. However, I do still think the internet does much good, I just don’t any longer think that what I believe Terrance’s understanding of what it means to “grow out of one’s culture”, and how he somehow thinks that voting republican is something that people grow out of. He also seems to insinuate that religion is something that people should grow out of. These are no longer beliefs that I hold or agree with, nor would I want anyone, including myself, to “grow out” of their relationship to Christ.

I like what Terence has to say here. And it is his acknowledgement of an inherent uncertainty in our knowing that is most refreshing. Most of us just want to know - and in that "knowledge" is where the greatest trouble begins. Before knowledge is ignorance, and most won't bear the ignorance long enough to begin to see beyond it.

Cmon Tom, nothing is that simple…
McKenna took the shamanistic path in the birth of the hyperdigital age, how could he not see things as a novelty theory?
And he was kinda right in that 2012 with mass adoption of smartphones, that the information novelty is essentially completed. Now everyone fights over the data/attention it generates.
Perhaps his archaic revival theory will come somewhat true next… I hope it does.

Indeed, the news / media is recycled, the same pattern on repeat, and like the timewave theory said - that pattern repeats more frequently as time goes on. I think that post 2012 especially, it's been on a repeat that reminds of the very end of a video game, R-Type Final. I won't try to describe it, cause I'm not sure how to, but it kind of throws the entire history of the game series into a final boss and it just keeps repeating over and over for ages.

I agree with mckenna on pretty much everything ive heard him talk about,
From conspiracy theories on the whole being for the dull minded, to the pointlessnes of cultural politics, and technology being a fundamental part of reality, and his respect for the sciences but without accepting anything as factual truth, and obviously the understanding of the benefits of psychedelics, and the Importance of a sense of humour ✌👽, if I ever loved another man it would be mckenna or McGowan (Shane)
I don't know if the fact that they are both Irish has anything to do with it was it😉

I was 11 or 12 I was academically intelligent but a cultural robot, my only outlet was art I have so many books covering the works of artists, when I learned about physics just by hearing the word universe for the first time I non stop started reading and watching things etc. Within a month or two I was an atheist, non political, and my natural repulsion to culture was pushed to the point of failure because I still love futbol and other things. I don’t think that’s bad because it helps maintain my sanity. If I didn’t buy in to anything I’d be fucked. Now I even like basketball haha. When Messi retires my only allegiance will be to the counter culture of basketball and Catalonian sociopolitical views and passion for futbol. Simply get rid of those two sports and my only foothold on being human is art. I have also read very little fiction mostly a few absurd and science fiction books that I guess also may save me. Mckenna would say this is condemning not saving but we’re doomed to pretend to live in society so if you can confirm that you do buy in to some kind of bull shit then it’s very hard to achieve any acceptance.

I'm sorry what? So, because some people have poor mental models of how ordinary things work means our collective fundamental knowledge is wrong and should be thrown out? I don't see how that follows. Perhaps on an individual basis, our ideas of how things work may be significantly flawed, but on the scale of collective understanding I would say humanity's understanding, at least of basic to intermediate scientific ideas, are quite solid. Anyone care to discuss? Maybe I misinterpreted him?

      @WallsClips 5 ปีที่แล้ว

@@mikebell7525 well if he thinks belief is for kids, that seems to imply that mature adults don't or shouldn't have beliefs, and that would be a contradiction on his part. Because the idea that mature adults don't or shouldn't have beliefs is a belief within itself. If that's not what Terrence was saying, then the "belief is for kids" in the title is misleading.

    • @mikebell7525

Jakobathin ..the title is misleading because Terrance knows belief is apart of creativity. I truely believe he is saying don't be married to a set of belief because belief tend to trap us in a box. Kids are ignorant to this concept which is why they're in a state of bliss
