I keep these men in high regard! Terence remains such an inquisitive and explorative mind, which is so great to witness. What a great questions he asks as well!
Their conversation flows so naturally for the complexity of the topics they explore, I love how their philosophies compliment each other in their differences. There is much to be learned from this.

i’ve come to this video and commented so many times. it means so much to my soul for these two to meet on the same plane in the same heart. many blessings to us all. the way ram dass is genuinely just marveling at Terrence’s intelligence is beautiful
I can relate to Terrance saying I don't want my life to be my message because my life is muddled. I don't want people to know what path I attempt to follow because I don't want to give the path a bad reputation.
This conversation, at the beginning some kind of a battle checking up who is the wisest, Terrence turned it so beautifully and then it developed deeper and deeper into more and more honesty. Very inspiring.
I've come to this after listening to Terrance McKenna for the past three days, and my balance of who I thought is closer to "It, the Truth" has wobbled back and forth during this conversation. It's so extraordinary to see how their ideas weave around each other, sometimes divergent and other times flowing side by side, and everytime I think one of them has come to the conclusion of a particular thread of understanding they say more and I realize that it's really not that linear. Something I think that I find interesting is that McKenna doesn't seem to realize that he is not a passive observer of cultural evolution but has *created* the emergence of the sages that he is scanning the horizon for. And I'm tickled that Ram Das decided to stop at the heart reacts and say that is the goal of consciousness. How awesome it is to stand on the shore of being looking at these amazing bubbles.
I love how they interract with eachother, there is a warmth in co-discovery, a shared exploration and journeying, unlike a quality of discussion and argumenting.❤
Really grateful to the TH-cam algorithm right now for suggesting this video for me to watch. How timely and appropriate for me in my journey. Divine intervention is always available...
Terrence probably would have chosen to go ‘on’ as opposed to the nutty world that is today. Especially here in the Divided States. I’m probably wrong, and it would be amazing to hear his take on how technology has taken off. He did catch the very beginnings of the internet; 95-2000 (I believe he died around then). But wasn’t here for the cell phone onslaught, rich guys launching themselves up in their own rockets 🚀, and so much more. It would be very interesting to hear his take on that, and everything from 911 to dare I say his name…#45 (I won’t say it).
@@absolutelypositively i'll say it, Donald Trump, one of the best presidents America has es ever had, who had his citizens living the most affordable lives they had in years, almost all of whom would take him back in a second over the undemocratically elected Biden.
This was one of the most precious conversations had between people. I check in here every year or so. Be open to this mystery :)) and please leave with some peace
When I watch this and really focus, it's almost like I actually have two friends that are interesting enough to chill and converse with for a period of time. Now a days, for most, this conversation would go the likes of "hey man, what do you think about ...?" "eh...idk..." "yeah, me neither." And then they'd look at their phones for forty minutes.
These two men and others made an indelible impact on me during my formative years. Having had the door to my psyche opened by hallucinogens for it to be later kicked off it's hinges by the Shakti all adds to the enjoyment of their perspectives so many years later. The waiter was like icing on a cake. Just perfect thank you all.
Listening to these two souls speak, is truly an amazing transaction between the creator and him/ it’s self. Like this is the moment, when two of the same dance harmonically around the firelight perfectly. It’s the core of what makes life so worth experiencing. And yet either of them have any clue that what they speak is exactly IT
Very surprised that I had never seen this before. Really gave me a whole new appreciation for the level Terrance McKenna was operating on. I mean, Ram Das deserved a tremendous amount of credit, but, in all honesty, I could see, with zero uncertainty, that he realized he had to really work to keep up with the illuminated soul before him! He even had to reel in his ego, a few times, when it was inclining to posture from inadequacy. Amazing exchange, if you can notice the subtleties!
I like how he asked ram dass a question and ram dass sat silent, in thought for a while before he answered. And Terrance didn’t interrupt his thinking. He just waited for his answer. A very good quality in communication that I’d like to possess more of myself. Most people are waiting for you to hurry up and finish talking so they can talk. Not really listening. Or cut people off in the middle of them speaking. Silly thing to notice maybe when this is two great minds and leaders in the psychedelic field and more. They had a very interesting conversation and I loved what they had to say. I’m just noticing how they communicate.
Very interesting question Terrence asked just before 14:00. That was a real pleasure to listen to two great like minded spiritual guru's shooting the breeze.
I started watching this on a much lower quality TH-cam video about a year ago, for whatever reason I never got past the first 10 minutes. Now I find a MUUCH higher quality version with the time to actually sit and watch this time. At times this interaction feels so unreal; in what seems like a very public "normal" place hosting these great minds. It's almost like an A.I. took each of their speeches and made this from scratch. Welcome to 2022 everyone! Lol Thanks for such a high quality upload!
Thank you very much for uploading this. I've been beginning to explore McKenna's works over the past few months, having read "The Food of the Gods" and "The Archaic Revival" so far, and listening to his various recorded lectures online frequently. I recently obtained a copy of the Psilocybin book he wrote pseudonymously with his brother Dennis (beautifully illustrated by his partner Kat).
That's wonderful. I plan on getting into and reading much of Terence's works after being infatuated by his lectures. My question to you is, what do you make of those books of terence you mentioned such as Food of the Gods and The Archaic Revival, in other words, do you feel they truly deliver?
@@rickynoodles2816 Yes, they're both worth reading. If you enjoy listening to his lectures, I'm fairly sure you'd enjoy reading his books and essays, too. They, in turn, have led me to even further good books, like Riane Eisler's "The Chalice and the Blade" (which is a big influence on McKenna's concept of the Archaic Revival).
Psychedelics are an effective tool to see past the ego. But they are not a panacea. And as Alan Watts said, “If you get the message, hang up the phone. For psychedelic drugs are simply instruments, like microscopes, telescopes, and telephones. The biologist does not sit with eye permanently glued to the microscope, he goes away and works on what he has seen.” Ram Dass and Alan Watts are "right on." And this I know due to the complete education given to a true prophet of GOD. Those two men "connected the dots" correctly by listening intently. Not so of those who primarily "think." This is the best find of today, really appreciate this post, never would've guessed i'd see these two great individuals having a conversation, but deep inside something lit up in myself when i saw the title.
Ram Dass makes an epic point on the counterrevolution topic. Where McKenna sees humanity has regressed from the psychedelic progress of the 60s, Ram Dass explains that on the whole people in the west are fed up with the countercultural materialism and idealism because of its continued prevalence. It’s almost like watching the same movie over and over. Sure the movie itself could be the best movie ever made, but eventually it gets old and one begins to hope that there’s got to be more to life than this. To me, the fact that the struggle of the western man causes a certain angst of existing while starving people in India are joyful further proves that the psychedelic explosion of the 60s was the way humanity should be going. And of course you will always have society stuck in its ways. The question becomes whether we can collectively get to a point where society and all the things that come with it are seen in the same light that something like slavery or racism is currently, as relics of the past that we all accept as part of our history but are no longer used.
Are you kidding? Marvel Hero film XXV is still to come and they are only getting better and better each time! The game of "getting mine" is deadly boring but fugging persistant.
I love the waiter - like the court jester, ready to knock the stuffing out of any American, intellectual or spiritual egos, and they just roll with him. Beautiful.
Wow , thank you for uploading this ! one of the greatest conversations - it's literally like watching a podcast. Terrence is Jordan Peterson after a season in the amazon. Ram Dass is so good at finding a way to relate to everything , while still giving his particular point of view.
Well Doug McKenna did Mentor/observe As a spiritual aid For Juan Jordan Peterson and the Amazon Um. Juan??? Mistake. Didn't realize my voice text picked that up. Lol
Terrible comparison. Peterson is Nihilistic and although intellectual like both these two, extremely stuck in his box. He literally became a heroine addict after making millions. Just wrong
This was a very engaging intersection of two amazing minds that I've looked up to for a long time, and is genuinely one of the most interesting pieces of content I've seen in a while. The contrast between the two of them as well as how well this has aged are just absolutely gorgeous to watch and listen to. Thank you for taking the time to upload this for free.
For me this interview is giving a glimpse at how amazing the future of humanity really is. The fact that these two brilliant individuals have perfected their conquest for consciousness on two entirely different fields and in two entirely unexpected different ways, and still are able to see and talk. I also see how McKenna was influenced by this talk in some of the things he said later down the line. Psychedelics and Yoga really are two different pointers to two different things. The future of humanity entails heightened perceptual abilities, contact with non-physical beings, and space travel. All the whilte traversing the landscape of Climate control, relationship to AI and most importantly the relationship to our own soul.
You can tell Ram dass is content with not knowing the right answers and letting go, being open to all possibilities , where as Terrence is quite intent on understanding the exact reason on why things are the way they are. Two brilliant minds with unique different mindsets

i remember seeing this video 16 years ago, back when i was a 16 year old boy brand new to the concepts of philosophy, spirituality, and psychedelics, but very curious. after that i was hooked on both mckenna and ram dass lectures. it's a trip hearing this again so many years later. i feel like i didn't understand much back then but that didn't stop be from listening to every lecture i could find of these guys. listening to this again now in a brand new light & perspective is really mind-boggling. i've really learned a lot over the years.
Hi
Can I ask how you originally watched it? Was it over the internet?
@@xxxxxxJSxxxxxx yes it was back when video sites like youtube and vimeo were brand new. online video just started becoming a thing and audio podcasts were more common back then, but i remember this being one of the first videos i saw online that wasn't flash animated.
it's fun listening you you guys - i m 17 and and more than just curious.
Truth never gets old, and is a growing thing for our limited minds. Ram Dass was "right on." And this I know due to the complete education given to a true prophet of GOD. He "connected the dots" correctly by listening intently. Not so of those who primarily "think." For it is not the "thinking" but the LISTENING that transform this world for the better. All human thought is limited and therefore IRRATIONAL by definition. And the Mind that is ALL, which many call "GOD," is our true Mind and the only Source of true, rational Thought. Our goal is to listen only to that Mind, and not the ego mind, as Jesus Christ did. Elijah has returned in these "end times," as prophesied. I correspond only via my contact page.
@@omdeo4177 I'm the same age as OP, but waited to try psychedelics. Definitely wait. But you should look into meditation. Look up the book mastering the core teachings of the Buddha. It's based off of a Buddhist mediator
Omg I didn't know these two had an entire conversation together. This is amazing.
These conversations are so important for humanity and we don't even realise it. We need to transform from our own reality and join back to humanity.
Oh my goodness that was delightful. I am sitting here smiling, feeling grateful to have been able to watch these two human beings speak to one another from the heart. Beautiful.
I keep these men in high regard! Terence remains such an inquisitive and explorative mind, which is so great to witness. What a great questions he asks as well!
“If for a single moment we could feel what we’re doing. We could stop” - So true. So true,
I'm saving it for later. Quite literally I do not have enough neurons to watch this now.
That waiter was sublime!!
I would like to see this same conversation taking place today, given the precarious state of truth and humanity.
love the way Ram Dass pauses before answering.
Their conversation flows so naturally for the complexity of the topics they explore, I love how their philosophies compliment each other in their differences. There is much to be learned from this.
I'm so glad I got to see this. WOW. I'm forever team ram dass but I've learned something new today from Mr McKenna. Thank you for sharing this
Thank you for this upload!
Two of my favourite minds to listen to, great to see them chilling and vibing together with a cup of coffee and a funny waiter.
Admin here (now) - like a really good movie or something!
Hearing and watching these two speak just warms my heart so much I dont know why
Love Ram Dass and Terence! I was lucky enough to hear three of Terence's lectures. Wonderful video of two amazing teachers. Thank you
I comitt to building my relationship with my brother so that we can sit down and talk like this during this lifetime at least once 🥰🥰Ram Ram Ram
Same for me and my sis!!
Beautiful! My blessings go with you. Having had hard conversations with siblings i know how incredibly healing they are!
These two men have changed my life more than any others. Thanks fellas
Two of my favourite teachers 🙏

i’ve come to this video and commented so many times. it means so much to my soul for these two to meet on the same plane in the same heart. many blessings to us all. the way ram dass is genuinely just marveling at Terrence’s intelligence is beautiful
I can relate to Terrance saying I don't want my life to be my message because my life is muddled. I don't want people to know what path I attempt to follow because I don't want to give the path a bad reputation.
I hope this talk doesn’t get lost in time. Let’s keep these two humans alive in our minds and introduce them to others so they live on.
Admin here - VERY certain this talk is an essential interaction between these two pioneers!
This conversation, at the beginning some kind of a battle checking up who is the wisest, Terrence turned it so beautifully and then it developed deeper and deeper into more and more honesty. Very inspiring.
Funny how I didn’t see it like that at all. Maybe we’re projecting on to them
@@heroisdomar4248
Only my perception.
Check it out for yourself.
Yeah this conversation is amazing. Something you don’t always see. Two giants coming together
2 beautiful souls, the wave they created is still going strong in these difficult times . Thankfull we still can enjoy this wisdom❤️🙏
Hurts me to this day that Terrence left us too soon.
And Baba Ram Dass. Two beautiful teachers and luminaries.
Hi, I was thinking, if only our governments could talk like this !!🙏🌎🙏
Terrence probably would have chosen to go ‘on’ as opposed to the nutty world that is today.

A beautiful video, thank you for sharing. I resonate with both. It was nice to sit at a table and listen in on a conversation ☺️
Admin here - You bet! This is one of my personal faves. So rich between these two amazing humans.
This was one of the most precious conversations had between people. I check in here every year or so. Be open to this mystery :)) and please leave with some peace
What an amazing meeting of minds! This was such a refreshing conversation. And the mutual respect and understanding between them was so lovely
This is a gem. What an incredible meeting of two absolute legends. Also, Terence is freaking hilarious 😂
Well this was a fantastic surprise. What a treat. Thank you.
Sure wish I could have went into the cosmos side by side with these two.
Many thanks to whoever had the presence of mind to film this conversation. I savored every word. Fascinating intersection of two extraordinary people.
I love that a conversation between them happened and we all get to enjoy it now many years later
This is the best conversation I’ve ever heard.
What a blessing we had those wise men Walk the earth and we have video and audio materials of this ❤️
Unbelievable, how perfect the 'Waiter' interludes were. So entertaining and yet philosophically pertinent 😃
Listening to these two souls speak, is truly an amazing transaction between the creator and him/ it’s self. Like this is the moment, when two of the same dance harmonically around the firelight perfectly. It’s the core of what makes life so worth experiencing. And yet either of them have any clue that what they speak is exactly IT
Is the last word an abbreviation or just "it"

FAR OUT!
I'm micro Dosed On🍄 As I'm Listening Too This!! 🤩 Amazing Talk 🦜😎🙏🛸👽
Thank you to both these souls for being so connected to their higher selves and living from a place of passion.
Lol
Thanks for such a high quality upload!
@@johnholton8157 ahh i see. That's good to hear thanks man
Psychedelics are an effective tool to see past the ego. But they are not a panacea. And as Alan Watts said, “If you get the message, hang up the phone. For psychedelic drugs are simply instruments, like microscopes, telescopes, and telephones. The biologist does not sit with eye permanently glued to the microscope, he goes away and works on what he has seen.”
Ram Dass and Alan Watts are "right on." And this I know due to the complete education given to a true prophet of GOD. Those two men "connected the dots" correctly by listening intently. This is actually a real masterpiece and important meeting in 'spiritual' history.' I first viewed this years ago and found it to be full of gems from both individuals. I'm very happy that you have chosen to include it in your archive. Thank you!

Well Doug McKenna did Mentor/observe As a spiritual aid For Juan Jordan Peterson and the Amazon
Um. Juan??? Mistake. Didn't realize my voice text picked that up. Lol
'Jordan Peterson after a season in the amazon' LOL!
Peterson needs that season in the Amazon.
Jordan Peterson and McKenna could not be more different. Dumb comparison.
Terrible comparison. Peterson is Nihilistic and although intellectual like both these two, extremely stuck in his box. He literally became a heroine addict after making millions. Just wrong
How perfect the role the waiter plays. Wow what a momentous moment in history, this meeting in Prague.

Such a great line my friend
this is so beautiful on so many levels. where is part 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6? i could listen to these guys for days!!
The first podcast, I wonder if they knew how many people would be listening to this, so many years later.
Thank you for posting 🙏 - What an amazing video. Absolutely LOVE the comedy waiter popping in just as we all started to take it very seriously 😂
This video is a priceless treasure, thanks so much for sharing!
