When you ignore it's predecessor, its a great car.
Yeah, now you have to choose the M240i. But if you are ok with 4 cylinder and xDrive the M135i is pretty nice.

Plenty of people who had the m135i/140i f20 think this car is good, and this car is better than the a35 and s3 and has more bang for your buck.
@@kipdrordy6858 the 140i is the best in its class (too bad it doesn't exist anymore,..) but the 135i has a 4cl just like the other two. Personally the 135i is a much better car than the S3 and the A35
Not bad, but sad that they had to replace the I6 with a common 4 pot 2.0 . The I6 in the previous model was unique.

It's been five years now. People are still saying this? They know the original car was longitudinally mounted for RWD, right, and that this configusation was no good for the other 99% of 1-series sales? Or do they? Probably not
@@SampleTracks2224chillout. All he said is that the current gen 1 series is a piece of shit and can barely compete with Volkswagens and other Hyundais N or whatever the name is.
99% of the people buying 1-series do not even know let alone care.. Most also do not know if their car is FWD or RWD.. They just want to drive a BMW because it's a cool luxury brand.. This model suits that market just fine, so from a buisiness point of view I fully understand why BMW made this change.. They cannot afford having big engines in every model anymore because of emmision regulations etc..
The only thing I like about it is that it has the interior of the pre-LCI 3-series, which looks great..
These new 1 series don't get a lot of attention anymore

What do you think about cars from the 80s and 90s like an Alfa Romeo GTV 2.5 V6, a Lanica Delta, a Mk2 VW Golf G60, a Peugeot 205 Gti, Porsche Carrera 964, Opel Kadett GSI, a Mitsubishi 3000 Gt , Alfa Romeo 75 3.0l, Lancia Thema with Ferrari engine testing etc .That would be so cool. 😊🍻

ALl pops are fake (the non-stereo one are from a spare injector spouting raw fuel in just ahead of the cat, totally fake). And I agree.

Bit pointless when they are all limited from the factory, might be more interesting to see what it will do when the speed limiter is coded out.
Still a boring FWD based 4-pot. Just a MINI in a sensible dress isn't it, lets be honest.

Haha its so ugly compared to previous, and ditching the fun aspect of rwd, AND ditching the 3l 6cyl for a 2l 4cyl.. Who in their right mind buys this car
Pretty sure it's a natural progress as a daily driver. Also the F20 really feels kinda disconnected, the rear lives his own life. However, it was unique, kinda fun ! Shame this car is a FWD platform really
The old car was a bit shit, and 99% of buyers bought the non-6 pot variant anyway. And fewer and fewer were buying it anyway. Leaving old men shaking their fists at clouds... like here.
@@SampleTracks2224 well, the F20 was a "real" classic BMW, but compromised seriously rear seats space and boot, while being dynamically fun, but far from that efficient.
This is a more ground up car, but I think it lost all his soul. It is reasonable, and "boring" like any other FWD hatchback
Since it's a FWD platform, the Xdrive system is also FWD biased, or is it not? I wonder how is the handling.
It is FWD most of the time.
Don´t like the car overall that much as I´d prefer the predecessor but it definitely got one of the nicest interiors that BMW still has left.
Those shifts are fast. Is this ZF8 or duel clutch?
it's neither a ZF nor a dual clutch, it's a japanese "Aisin" transmission as far as i know.

i'm glad to own the '13 REAL M135 with 3L i6 and ZF automatic, i'll never give that car away.... The new Version is just a shame.... imho.
I just envy the interior which is a step better out of those meh digital gauges.
Pretty sure this car would destroy it on any surface involving "bends". and it gets to its top speed in a similar time, too. Don't know if that's a "shame".
@@SampleTracks2224 hate to break it to you but the F40 135i will never match a previous gen 1 series with 6 cylinders and rwd in terms of driving experience alone

But the gearbox is worse, engine is less, weight distribution is not ideal (F20 is 50/50) etc...
I mean, it is clearly less an enthousiat car ! But If I had money to put on one, I would take the F40 as it's a better car to live with. But Xdrive is mandatory, a 100% FWD with open diff is a no go
@@Medved_1337 well you can say the same about the m140i with xdrive then, didn't see people complain about that car, yet the handling is smoother on the 135i

People might be mad about BMW not doing RWD 1 series anymore but thanks to the this decision the 1 series F40 is a car that can be dailied and used for family and friends too. The previous F20 series cars were cramped and hella uncomfortable. It was just the poor mans 2 series coupe.
Now The 1 series is a VW Golf with higher quality and more comfort feeling interior in mind.

Because BMW likes upselling. They want you to pay substantially more for an M240 or M2
