Thanks for your video - it helped me prepare my documents! I landed at LPB airport last night (Oct 1, 2023). They now accept Visa and Mastercard credit cards to charge $160. They did not ask me for Yellow Fever Vaccine card (phew, I didnt have any). The key documents they look for are 1) Return/onward flight details. 2) Hotel reservation that covers the first night of stay (does not matter if it is just one day). They don't care about the rest of the stay. Make sure it is a decent enough hotel who would receive calls late night because they would certainly call at that moment. They also took my filled up online visa application and SIGEMIG forms - not sure it was required or not. Cheers!

Thanks man! So glad you found it helpful because I was just about as nervous as you are…lol. In all honesty, it’s a simpler process than what they make it seem. Just make sure you give yourself enough time if you are catching a connection in La Paz.
Just a question, if my destination is La pAz and im connecting through Viru Viru (Santa cruz) would my visa on arrival happen in Santa cruz or La paz as my connection is tight 1.15 mins - any thoughts will really help

Interesting that you mentioned the online registration. So there was a language barrier when they were processing my visa. I don’t speak much Spanish and the person in charge of the registration didn’t seemed to interested in trying to get his point across, so I completely missed the registration that I was supposed to do on my phone within a certain amount of time of obtaining my visa. It wasn’t until I went through customs when I was returning home that they told me that I never registered and therefore had to pay an additional fee. Something like $100. As far as the visa registration goes, there weren’t too many people needing a visa when I arrived so I would say approximately 40 minutes (including waiting in line).
Just arrived in Bolivia early in the a.m. and wow, my experience through immigration surely was a whirlwind. I will say this post helped 100%. Everything you said I experienced except it was in La Paz airport. Everyone...please follow this video. It'll help! Bring your copies of everything they will ask for as stated in this video. This is key. And no kidding on the cash inspection for the visa on arrival payment. Mine was inspected for rips and tears like my banknotes had some secret priceless code. It was bizarre! Thank you for this video.

@@passport_ced LOL. I thought The Philippines was bad with "imperfect" banknotes. Bolivia has topped that. No yellow fever card. Though I had one ready and everyone should since it seems somewhat random and inconsistent. I saw some people get asked. Also, I didn't have to give them my online registration. I actually did the Digemig online system ahead and printed before travels. Gave it to them and they didn't want it. Lol.

But if I can be there more than 30 days. Maybe it will be worth it. Any idea if they check the fake pass through tickets in their system. Did you see them entering it in the system? I used BOA (Bolivia airlines). They have exchange booths at the airport, but I used my credit card until I went to town to exchange my US currency. Typically better rates outside the airport.

I didnt have a problem with filling out the application. I also entered the country in the early morning so lines werent very long. My only struggle was the language barrier. If you speak spanish, you'll have a easier time than I did.

Oh yeah...ur right I did see this vid before. Ive seen other vids and some ppl were getting in the wrong lines once arriving in Santa Cruz only to find out after an hour wait they needed to go to a different line. Is it fairly easy to find the "visa needed" line once at the SC airport?
Yes. Wasn’t an issue. Every tourist has to wait in the same line. Once i reached the immigration officer, I told him that I needed a visa. That’s when he pointed me over to the visa line.

@@tjludes4431 I didn’t have to do that. Had to sign a couple of forms on the spot, but as long as you come prepared with everything I mentioned in the video, you should be fine.

That is strange due to the fact that you can obtain a visa upon landing. Unless something has changed in the last month or so. So you were never able to even purchase a ticket to Bolivia due to not have a visa???
I had the ticket purchased in late June. I had all documents that you had as well and United Airlines said they cannot issue a ticket without a visa in hand.
@@solomonypark you are the first person I’ve heard this happened to. Perhaps it’s a United Airlines issue. I flew BOA (Bolivian Airline) from Miami to Santa Cruz. My friend did as well and we didn’t have an issue.

@@passport_ced Hey there, sorry I didnt thank you again for all the very helpful advise. I am back in Los Angeles now after returning to the USA mid May. It was an amazing trip with lots of great things to see from Uyuni to the cable car system in La Paz to the flamingoes at 16,000 feet. One thing I didnt enjoy was having to check in on the Bolivian govt website each day with my whereabouts.....not an easy task when you dont have good wifi each day. I also never really acclimated to the higher elevation and found it tough to run up staircases etc. But all in all it was a pleasant experience. Looking forward to my next adventure to western Europe in Aug. Cheers
I’m not sure where you got that information, but US citizens most definitely need a tourist visa to enter Bolivia. Once obtained, the visa is good for 6 months.
@@xIMMORTALPRODIGYx The rules changed again on Feb 8, 2021 when the new president started requiring US citizens to have a visa before entering Bolivia. He wasnt happy that the USA was still making Bolivians get visas to enter here.

The credit card thing is great. They were so selective of the bills that it was kind of ridiculous. Glad it all worked out for you!

I haven’t done a review, but yes. Old planes. No wifi, no tv, etc. Just close your eyes and fall sleep the entire way! Lol

Is a PCR test still required? The sense I have is that if you are vaccinated they don't require a negative test.
I’m not sure if anything has changed since I crossed. Its def possible that they lifted that requirement.

Is a VISA required to enter Bolivia as a US Citizen?
Because I read online that as of December 2019, US Citizens do need a visa for tourism purposes!
