- After being sober from the MCU for over a year, I decided to briefly return to it for it's newest movie, Deadpool & Wolverine. I wasn't expecting much out of a simple superhero action comedy that would inevitably be full of fan service, but I ESPECIALLY wasn't expecting it to make me think about a lot of things: About the current state of the film industry, about the whole debate on whether Marvel movies are real cinema or not, about fanservice and how much of it we can get before we get sick of it, and about my own personal relationship with the MCU.
Deadpool & Wolverine made me think about a lot of different things, and I want to talk about those things in this review.

Before the Redditors get mad at me, I would like to say that everything I bring up in this video is purely my opinion. I have nothing against those that liked the movie, and I'm glad that people were able to have more fun with it than me. I get that this movie is "for the fans", but I still think that the movie could've had more going for it. Endgame and No Way Home are both fanservice movies, but they still have a lot more substance in them than Deadpool & Wolverine. It's possible for a movie to have a purpose and mean something, while also having it be fun and "for the fans".
No movie is exempt from criticism, and I don't see why this movie should be an exception to that. Just because it's self aware that it sucks, doesn't make it free of any and all criticism.

i had a great time in the theater. Just nonstop laughs. Purpose and meaning was the last thing on my mind. If i want purpose and meaning i’ll watch Oppenheimer

on a serious note. you cannot both say its ur opinion, and also make a sweeping statement that the MCU is not back. if you judgement is purely subjective, then so too should be ur statement. you can't swing one way for the clicks, then another to avoid backlash. get good.

I did enjoy when they fought each other a lot BUT I WANTED to see them fight each other so hard that they cut off limbs and even heads, THEN regenerate back and continue fighting. That's what I DESPERATELY wanted to watch a fight between 2 mutants that have regeneration tho :). Maybe Disney would notbe happy with sence like these, I hope Marvel can push the regeneration powers to its limit, I bet the fan really want to compare the regeneration power between Deadpool and Wolverine.

That’s a dumb point. Dismissing any criticism of a movie because, “it’s supposed to just be for fun” is way more childish. Spider man no way home is a fun movie. But it also tells a good story and mcu spider man has genuinely good character development and writing. Deadpool and Wolverine is random stuff happening just to pad out runtime, tell jokes or shove dumb cameos in.
