Allen Gregory (2011) - Jonah Hill's Forgotten Fox Flop

Allen Gregory is a 2011 Fox cartoon from Jonah Hill that focuses on a rich and pretentious kid having to attend regular elementary school for the first time. What could've been a funny cartoon showing the contrast between a privileged kid in an environment full of normal kids, ends up being a largely unfunny and mean spirited show, although it might not be as bad as its reputation seems to suggest...

I have a feeling that if the show was allowed to run on longer, the writers would have slowly developed Allen Gregory as a better person, but they waited too long and the show ended up getting canceled before they could do anything with it. It's sad because a lot of the behind the scenes and promotional material does make it seem like the writers in voice actors had a really good time working on it, but they forgot the part where they need to make it good.

Side note can you review Legends of Chaimberlain Heights as out of all the adult cartoons I feel like it had the most potential like just reading the plot summary I can see a great show out of it here's the description
"Best friends Grover, Milk and Jamal may just be benchwarmers on their basketball team at Michael Clarke Duncan High School, but they have lofty dreams. The freshmen want to earn their peers' respect and become legends at the school, but they have a long way to go to achieve that status. They have to prove themselves to be champions -- both on and off the court -- to ascend the social ladder. Like for real this sounds like a decent premise of three best friends wanting to prove to their peers that they can be something but they wasted on the most LAZY black jokes EVER

I kinda agree, if jonah hill didn't put some jokes in the show then it could hd been a good show, not all time best but at the same i would having four seasons instead blocking bobs burgers

Dude stop having the "Mean-spirited = Bad" mindset. Mean-spirited humor is used to add slapstick into cartoons and slapstick is a main trope of cartoons.
