    I think it would be good if Lance-mates could be given Targetting Roles... like "Anti-Air Guard", "Anti-Ground Vehicle", "Anti-Turret / Building Priority"..."Dedicated Anti-Mech". "Commander Bodyguard"

    I love the firestarter with an ER Large laser and nothing else for raids. Can comfortably one shot most raid objectives and swats air vehicles pretty good.

    For hit-and-run demolitions, don't negotiate for salvage. Go all C-bills.

    Here's an idea- Stock only.
    If the mech is damaged, you can replace with an equal part. Upgrading weapons is fine, but you can't go swapping small lasers for flamers if the mech doesn't have flamers. - you CAN replace components for extra armor and that's it.

      that maybe could work if he hadnt already placed a limit of 250 tons on himself, but with 250 tons AND Stock loadout only.. nah, that sounds tedious and annoying tbh

      I think that sounds like a fun challenge but I’d go further and say no swapping parts for armour. Take the basic mech, as intended, with no alterations.
      Maybe not with the 250tn limit but as it’s own challenge.

    I'd say the hero variant of the Javelin is the best light mech. 4 ER med lasers and 2 SRM6/LRM5 plus speed and jump capability. Runs quite hot though, but plenty of mobile firepower for short to mid range brawling.

      Agreed. The Jav Hero is a well rounded beast in a brawl or support/spotting.

      Dont forget 3 double heatsinks early game all for a low price of 6k its very reasonable, and its safe to let your AI poilot. You know canabalize the heatsinks, prefer 4s over 6s for heat. Solod little machine.

    For me Trebuchet is definitely a top, its a hardy missile boat with 3 laser hard points, it tends to be quite survivable for the AI.
    Hunchback, pluss heavy riffle just cools and functions well.
    Black-knight, got luckily in my new play through and found of of these in a shop.... Its a good energy boat, just always seems fragile, probably due to its size. Think it was, my second purchase in game? Like I said really lucky.
    The Javelin Hero mech, is cheep for what it is. The TH? Worth the C-bills, as is the Trebuche hero... but cant recommend that as a starter mech... damn thing is 15mill. But its a fun little mech. Both of these are SRM boats, but I can let the AI run the Javalin without fear of it being a big deal, pluss comes with 3 DHS.... take those off.
    As for Starter heavy, id say the Battlmaster. The standard variant, with the machien guns is a fantastic machien. As I run for my AI all the time and enjoy playing it. I replace the machienguns with a pair of ac2s always low star since its in the arm. No laser in oposit arm, lrm 15,
    6 medium lasers.... “It just works.”
    Of corse I build all these mechs out to maximize armor, lower heat.

    Not sure if you noticed, but the armor is the outline of the part and when down to chasis the inside is without an outline.

    Best "early mech" wound be hero Kintaro GB, 3 srm6 slots, 2 srm4 slots plus 3 mlasers, more then enough to kill an assault mech. Srms with with artemis give that monster +100 attack rating.

      I had a Kintaro 18 and loved it, not as many hard points buts still had 3 SRM 6's and 1 SRM 4 with 2 lasers. Even that absolutely demolished anything it went up against.

      It is a thrill, kintaro’s are fun just sawing off legs with missles. It was one of the first mechs I ran on tabletop. Some one poked fun of the Kintaro, so I later showed them the SL varient.... the laughter stoped.

      main firepower comes from the arms, when you twisting to spread damage arms are basicly your shields so when you lose 1 of them you lose lot of firepower. KK runs only 64 Kph which is not enough to dodge enemy fire, i would say, ERLL + LRM5 build and second line is better role for this mech.

      That’s true! On the other hand, it looks like the IA doesn’t see you as a treat in a panther, so you barely take damage. Even your team mates managed to survive without losing components. The IA also stays in the back with that configuration, and speed is not a problem.

    Be aware of those sharp ridges, you can not cross them even in a fast mech, you need JJs or go around. For me i still use Firestarter even after rep 15, it is simply a great mech. I still did not found the hero Firestarter, sadly. By the way in low difficulty missions you can do solo demolition, this will help you when you decide to take a multi mission operation and demolition is part of it, going solo you can preserve other mechs. I tried solo demolition mission with 90+ difficulty level but they got me, but i have to say the base was open with minimum cover, i manage to destroy the base but they killed me when i tried to reach the pick up point. I will try it again with a base which has walls and buildings and report back.

      Hmmm maybe using a fast, heavily armored mech with only easily replaceable stuff in it (like crappy medium lasers or many flamers/mgs for quicker destruction) so even if you get killed all you get is a long repair time? Call it the bulldozer :D

      @@totalutilitarian3292 well, we do not have a heavy armored mech to fit this role, Warhammer can mount flamers and mgs but it runs only 64 Kph. I am not sure if you would be able to destroy the base because speed is a key in this strategy. Maybe it is possible in lower difficulty missions but there are some mechs which can do this job and it works.

      @@igorbukovy4313 I did not specificy it more as everyone should think about what it means for themselves. A Firestarter is pretty fast and pretty well armored and does the job well.
      An assassin 101 is even faster (45 tons/113 kph) and has 4 energy slots, so might be better
      A Centurion D run 50 ton/97 kph and is more heavily armored but less well armed and is rare/hero
      Any Phoenixhawk (45 tons/97 kph) would work too.
      A Trebuchet 3C is also 50 tons/97 kph 4 energy slots 2 large missile, but hero/rare (has artemis).
      The jester could maybe work... It has almost 74 kph but at least 2 AMS so is rather impervious to missiles
      The Awesome pretty baby MIGHT work as it does have 69 kph which is the highest for an assault and also beats all heavies except the jester, dragons and quickdraws
      If you think 81 KPH is fast enough then the mentioned dragons or quickdraw is the highest tonnage you can get with that speed

      @@totalutilitarian3292 no, Firestarter is not well armored but it has decent speed and perfect weapon hardpoints for this kind of role. BJ Arrow is kinda good too. In my opinion the hero Firestarters are best for this role. It is not only about speed but also about weapon hardpoints.

      @@igorbukovy4313 well technically I think your max armor value is fixed with tonnage anyway. So a firestarter is as well armored as the next 35 ton mech. But if you think cicada, a firestarter suddenly looks good :D

    Challenge for you: You can't use same model mechs (for example no 2 commandos) in mission lance even if they are different variants. If you can buy Hero mech you have to (only 1 though) and you can have only hero model in active bays and other variants are only to cold storage/sell. Only exception is another hero mech of same model (for example CPLT-J and CPLT-BB).
    I'm doing that for my own game, it nicely forces you to use variety of mechs.

    The Firestarter was an absolute game changer for me. Ended up taking control of it of an ally's when my own mech exploded, only to find it literally melted mechs so much faster than my own.

    I am enjoying the grinding play through of salvage only mechs except I can buy heroes. It does hurt to pass up on a marauder though.

    I would have liked to see a Panther at least trialed. I get that it's slow, but when you have low tonnage limits and it has such long range...
    Picked up the Firestarter on your reccomendation and holy crap is it powerfull! Reset the early campaign assasination mission a few times because my lance was so damaged and I was hoping to salvage a Panther (I probably get too enamored with Mech names and not their utility) and instead I managed to get 4 loot crates AND the Hunchback as salvage!..although does it really count if the mech in question has only the head, center torso, and legs?

      Clifford J. Summers Sr. The left leg looks yellow to me at the end of the first mission, and that’s the leg the tank hits. I am watching on a tiny phone screen though so I could be wrong.

      @@wabznasm9660 I am at home and in 1080, both legs were orange prior (assuming I'm not losing my color vision) but when I replayed the drop at 50% speed, the damage indicator did flash after the shot. So, maybe a bit more orange afterward.:)

    Looks like devs shadowpatched demolition missions so they get done quicker. Noticed quick destruction myself on the second playtrough

    The way you get mechs is just fine. I still think you should go to 300 on your max tonnage, but it will be interesting to see how that 250 limit works.My favorite missions are assassination, demolition, and defend.

    @baradul hey man love the channel been watching more and more! I somehow stumbled upon a hero atlas this morning!!! It's INSANE! Don't know if you found one yet but if you haven't gotta get one! 6 medium pulse laser, medium ballistic, medium missle slots, buttttttttt, has 6 engine heat sinks and does 64kph!!!!! Doesn't over heat when you have the double heat sinks in!!!!!!

    I found a Hero Spider before 3020. 2x Machine Gun, 2x M Laser, 1 SRM4, 2x AMS. Ran all of my raid and Demo contracts with it. Easy, fast C-Bills.

    You should play a locust or spider. What they lack in firepower they make up for in speed.
    Also I am pretty sure machine guns have a longer range then flamers. I believe flamers is less than 90m.
    Regarding getting mechs from salvage. Yes its a mild grind for rep but multiple mission operations are really where you collect mechs.

    Firestarter. Any variant, but especially the FS9-A. You can't beat 8x Flamers on a platform that mobile. Completely melts ANY mech within 4 seconds if you can focus your (literal) fire on one component. Even the dreaded Urbie can't keep up with the sheer DPS of the Firestarter.

    The panther is very useful when transitioning to Medium. 190 tons limit? 3 medium and a Panther, want to field 55 tons in 200 limit? You get the idea. Good AI mech on the fourth row for PPCing

      I ran an assassin that came with a ppc as my light command mech, until I got a Wolverine & then Kintaro…

    Maybe make this play through like a HBS Battletech career campaign by not taking any story contacts. That game did it right by having a Career mode for replay ability. I wish this star map was like Battletech too by having all difficulty missions interspersed thru out. That way I could start in say Steiner territory and go where I wanted. Instead of being forced to go clockwise around the factions.

    I see my previous comment to only use hero mechs would be a lot of grind because they are so rare...
    instead I would change it to: allways buy any hero mech you see and only sell them if you have hangar full of hero mechs.
    I guess it is still a bit grindier because they cost more then normal mechs, but I would really like to see all hero mechs drops ^^

    Traveling to industrial hubs just to repair is a gigantic waste of c-bills.
    Though looking for Mechs, weapons and pilots is a thing. But you should consider repairing in war zones more often.

    I'm really liking the speed of those lighter mechs. With the damn Atlases and Stalkers going at 48 km/h, the missions in the previous playthrough felt interminable.
    If you do get Assault mechs later in this playthrough, try getting faster ones. The Boar's Head and Pretty Baby have improved speed.

      Thats why I love the Dragon sidewinder. A heavy mech that traverses the field
      At 81kph, with a boost of 135kph when you use your masc/supercharger and to top it off it has a large slot for balistics, and energy, and even has a medium missile slot if you need to rain something down at a distance.

      @@squizzlor It's amazing, especially with the +15% acceleration and top speed enhancement. You get to go super fast, which combined with 60t mech armor makes you pretty tanky, and still keep a very solid amount of firepower.
      Strong and fun.

    Maybe try limiting yourself to no heavier than a 55 ton mech and having to entrust the heavy firepower to your AI teammates.

    Hey dude, this is on ps4? I wonder about your control settings, you are able to move to targets so easily. I use ofc a controller and cannot move so fast like you. I can easily imagine you indeed sit in a real Mech btw lol

      this game with analog controls is just... horrendous, a mouse sseems almost necessary when you consider the speed at which you need to target and track mechs, i even tried playing with a flight setup to feel more like in a mech but even a joystsick is just a little too imprecise for a game like this.

    I love your passion for Flamethrower Mechs but if you are complaining about "salvage". The Salvage game mechanic so far in all Mechwarrior games has been dead on. If you keep using Mechs that deal fire damage and target dead center or cockpit with your ballistic components every time. YOU WILL NOT GET MECHS FOR SALVAGE AT ALL! You will notice a hint that your AI Squadmates will say "Commander, back off!" "She's about to explode" or a *flash* hit mark meaning you destroyed the cockpit leading to its destruction. So, if you new players need or want salvage mechs early on. Then you must target the legs of the mechs you encounter in your missions to guarantee the success of getting it in salvage at the end of the mission. This method is called "Legging Mech" or just "Legging". This method has been used overtime in the old days when the salvage game mechanic was put into the old Mechwarriors starting with the tactical gaming genre when Mechwarrior went with the Diablo approach. The difference from tactical and FPS Mechwarriors when it comes to force salvaging a mech is that you have to retrofit your mechs in precision components only meaning no explosives nor "flamethrower" in tactical if you want salvage mechs. But with FPS Mechwarriors with the salvage mechanic. You have a lot more control of gaining salvaging mechs by only legging any and all mechs as long as they are not totally destroyed or self destruction due to cockpit kills. And of course if your AI squadmates don't destroy the mech you are trying to leg for salvage which is why you don't give out orders to your AI squadmates to attack a mech you want for salvage, using specific mechs to take and deal high firepower damage, and using said components made for precision to target specific limbs with said firepower. With that said the salvage mechanic is perfect and it is obviously not that hard to figure out how to use it to your advantage but of course you can ignore all that and play pretending salvage is random but don't belittle it when you are not getting salvage by not using the "Legging" Method at all. And obviously, you can stop using the "Legging" Method when you are in end game and have no need for salvage mechs. But pretty darn hard or long grind of a game if you don't use the "Legging" Method early and often as needed to keep a steady income.

      not entirely sure this rings true, there have been MANY occasions where ive decidedly only blown off the legs of a mech and stil never got the salvag,e and other times where ive cored and cockpitted the mech and still gotten it, once i got a salvaged shadowhawk with only its right and left side torsos in tact and nothing else.
      the salvage in MW5 seems largely RNG, ive done lots of testing and it doesnt seem like it follows a cohesive pattern.

      @@NeoGuyver81 Flamers do pinpoint damage. The flame is just an animation, if you are in range you will hit exactly at whatever the reticle is pointing at the specified rate of fire, regardless of what the flame is visually doing.

    I still do not see how you will be able to accomplish this play through with the limitation chosen.
    You struggled quite heavily on some maps even with heavy and assault mechs.
    I think you should have limited yourself to heavy mechs only and or no Ballistic weapons. Just an example it would force you to only use certain mechs that you may not really like because the ones you like have ballistic mounts only.

    Challenge for you: use it or lose it. It either goes into a mech or gets sold for your salvage. Mechs can still go into storage, but if you visit an industrial hub, weapons must either go into a mech or be sold :p

      that sounds rather stupid tbh, whats the point of that other than make him extend the grind to rediculous lengths to get mechs equipted he maybe doesnt have yet when he pick up a good weaponsystem?
