TTB had a video about the MW5 devs answering some of his questions, one of those questions was about why your A.I. teammates didn't use all their weapons or fired their weapons rarely if ever. The answer turned out to be that the A.I. fires their weapons in the weapon groups the player sets them up in, while taking into consideration their heat limit, so if you want your A.I. teammates to fire their weapons more often set up every weapon in individual groups.
@@excessmaterial its a smart stupid thing. because it also kinda sorta gives a small amount of 'control' to your AI. like making them only fire all there missle points together. or having a mech set for dual PPC alpha as compared to only shooting 1.
It even goes beyond that, and prioritizes weapon groups. So for example if you have MLAS in group one but LRMs in group 2, the AI will try to prioritize range for group 1, meaning it will run to close/medium range and NOT prioritize firing at long range. So if you have something with long range weapons, put them in weapon groups of a lower number than shorter ranged weapons. The AI will use the shorter ranged weapons in higher numbered groups as the situation allows, but won't immediately try and move into range of that weapon. Battletech's intro and MW5's intro is definitely in the field of show, don't tell. Dude!!! Thank you so so much for letting me know it's now on xbox! Ever since I saw you play I have been dreaming of it. Now it's finally here! YAAAÀAAAYYÝYYYY
In order for the AI to start shooting more frequently, you need to split the weapon groups and go all in with heat managment. Otherwise they wait forever.
I'm playing this on Xbox and it's amazing. Controller support is really a great addition to this game. I noticed it got better in the PC version but still kind of broken. On the Xbox its spot on.
One of the coolest Bio's I have seen thus far was a Volcanic one. Mountains spewing out Lava, rivers of Lava... pretty cool. Plus the night sky with planets in the background makes it even more epic. As you keep getting more missions for a particular faction you get more loot rights. I have no problem getting up to 18-22 after a couple days of play. I also made the mistake of fixing mechs early on in contested areas.. you lose A-LOT of C-BILLS. Just go to an industrial noncombat contested zone.. fix and head back in. Or later have at least Mechs you can replace for the damaged ones. I basically run two of everything... much later on in my career of course.
Gotta love how even when House Liaoning offers you the good shit. Nobody wants to fight for the Capellans lol. Federated suns for life, Inner Spehere now and forever!
Yes Baradul MW content!! Finally got it to work last night after a full reinstall. Like the ever so slight variation to starting mechs. One thing I'd like to see in another DLC is the ability to really build your unit and have a second drop ship and even if you can't command them in the field be able to assign mechs/pilots and take missions that way. Just another mini game for a more realistic feel to running a merc unit.
No. Certain mech models have a slot for them. So far I've come across a special 'agincourt' archer with slot for active probe, a black knight with a slot for a probe, and a stalker of all things, with an ecm slot.
@@DixonsCider Yeah its days later and found all this out. Other than a few random mech like the Raven most of the mechs that have the new slots are the new campaign mission hero mechs like the Agincourt. They are few and far between sadley.

Hi, as a swiss boy, i'm not a native english speaker but i can easily understand you so many thanks for the let's play :) Atleast im training my english at the same time :p
One thing I've always wondered is.... If space AT&T has total control over the hypercomm network, and I think the jump ships too and has such total control over high tech stuff, why haven't they long ago destroyed all the merc outfits, absorbed the mech pilots and their mechs and rebuilt the star league under their authority????
Thanks for the vid, very helpful, been playing mwo since beta but im running this on xbox!, the controls are surprisingly good, running the 3rd person view, has a little of that good ol mech clunky-ness and none of the bounce that you mentioned you were getting, thanks again, GV
I actually like the Hero Jenner (especially early on if you can find it) as a quick little murder-machine loaded with just 4 SRM4s. Then spend any extra tonnage on either armor or heat management and the thing becomes extremely lethal at close range while also being so fast that it's pretty hard to hit.
With my Enforcer I went with a tier 2 burst fire AC 10, two medium lasers, maxed armor, 2.5 tons of ammo and a couple of extra heatsinks (removed the jump jets). The large laser cycle time was a bit too high and the extra damage wasn't worth the heat spikes. I found that being able to pretty much constantly fire without running hot or exhausting ammo to be better overall.
Hi Baradul! I've been subbed and watching your videos for years. I'm so excited about this DLC and I started a playthrough on my own new streaming channel! Not trying to snipe you, I know it's bad form to mention my channel in your comments, but I wanted you to know that you were my inspiration for even trying it in the first place. It's not something I would have thought I could do, but watching how much fun you seem to have, I wanted to give it a try. I love it!
@@barrylinkiewich9688 My primary considerations for my personal mech piloting and commanding style is to be a reconnaissance agent/ spotter for my team and less of a striker. My fav mech is the ACH-Prime (with some weapon changes, I actually end up running it closer to the Alpha config) for example. So I admire the Spider for its use in those roles...though admittedly I prefer the Commando 3A to the Spider.
"Back stab with my AC10." Ah, I see you too have played a 3rd Ed D&D half-orc rogue with a battleaxe! Also, Mechwarrior 6 on Unreal 5, with that micropolygon tech would be amazing.
The new DLC has made changes to the way Negotiation point strategy works, to some extent. In the pre-DLC game, you basically wanted all salvage and you wanted to salvage a mech, which was the best way to make money. In the current version, cash is king, in my opinion. I just started playing when it hit Steam, and having watched all of Baradul's first run play list, I was expecting to use most of my point on salvage, but it turns out now the junked mechs you get are worth significantly less on the market than they used to be. Also, they increased the amount of C-Bills you get out of cash and Insurance. Insurance is good in missions you expect to take some hits in, to a point. Salvage is often terrible, and cash is your best bet, usually, as it is now, in my opinion. The new Cantina contracts are fun, but you should know that when it asks you to "Kill 10 J. Edgars" it doesn't count EVERY J. Edgar you encounter as tallies toward that. It will send SPECIFIC targets at you in the missions, which I assume would not be there otherwise, and ONLY those adds count towards kill quotas. Some of the contracts are like "Kill 3 Archers" and I've killed 5 now but they were not the "special" ones you have to kill, apparently. I currently have like 4 kill quotas going and I only get one or two kills towards those quotas per mission. For some of the smaller stuff, like VTOLs and so forth, you get more than one per mission, but if you have to kill 3 Archers, you MIGHT get ONE in a mission, but you also might not. You can have at most 6 Cantina contracts in progress at a time. The kill quota ones take the longest to fill. There are some Cantina contracts that ask you to "acquire 2 Black Knights" or something. Three things you should know about this. First, you have to GIVE them the mechs to get the Cantina mission completed (and the money they give you is about half what you'd pay for them on the market). Second, you CAN just buy the mechs, guns, etc that you need to fill out the contract, you DO NOT have to salvage them. And lastly, sometimes it asks you to "acquire 2 Black Knights" other times it asks you to "acquire 1 Thunderbolt 5S", which is a specific make and model of mech, and it WILL NOT accept ANYTHING else, not even a BETTER version of the mech. The same goes for contracts that ask you to go get "3 medium lasers lvl 2". It will ONLY accept tier 2 M Lasers for that, not tier 3, not short burst, not pulse, it has to be EXACTLY as described in the contract.
The salvage rights have changed alot, I have managed to salvage many Mechs, Yes you still end up fighting a Highlander that requires more salvage rights than you have but that is kind of expected early on. Great video
The reason the Locust died there is because when the AI starts shooting buildings during Demolition they tend to prioritize the buildings over anything attacking them. It can result in them literally dying due to stupidity. I was weeping when you didn't click the "Overview" button on the Firestarter hero to check out the double heatsinks it had

I immediately sold both locusts. Bought an assassin swapped the srm for a second lrm 5 then did exactly the same loadouts for the enforcer and spider. I used the assassin myself. Should have sold the spider too. 2 meds were useless for anything but turrets and choppers.
Hi @baradul, I bought the game when it came out through epic, (although I played battletech via steam - and loved it). I'm not that much of a gamer so didn't matter which platform I used for MW5 tbh, however I gather from a lot of videos that there was significant desire from the community for it to be available on steam (which it wasn't available on at release). I didn't enjoy the game that much because I experienced a lot of frame rate issues (pretty bad ones actually), so the question is, now that I'm looking to give MW5 another go, is it worth going through steam? I'm assuming I can't migrate from Epic to Steam `:D
After playing the base game on Game Pass; I'm thinking of buying the full MW5 package for myself. My question is; is it ok to go ahead and mod the CRAP out of it or should I play the Innersphere stuff 'Retail' to start?
3035 nicee!! soo. the Fourth Succession War: jsut ended! Mechwarrior 4. was in the Fedcom civil war. circa 3062 67 . mhh. i like where Mw5 is heading too :)
Large Laser on the Spider, it would be fast enough to keep a distance and snipe from medium range without getting involved with the heavy punching light mechs. It might be a bit outclassed by Panthers and Vindicators, but that's the price you pay for going twice as fast and being on the offensive without proper intelligence. I don't think the Enforcer will normally have that much of a heat problem. Acid rain is a real pain in the ass for cooling. My use of Short burst medium lasers is take 3 and chain fire them. the 4th one won't ever fire. Otherwise go ordinary medium laser.
Love the different story cinematic, several steps above the original which was just rushed and sudden..... I would look alot forward to career mode but first burn throug the campaign. ALso i got the game on vanilla xbox one, there might ve no infantry due to lack of power but tve controls and options are very good!
Newbie question... for early game in the campaign where your max tonnage is around 150-200, is it better to have a full lance of lighter mechs, or 3 mechs with more tonnage? Currently I've been running with 2 mediums and 2 lights, with one of the lights usually being a locust, but I feel like the lights tend to take more damage or lose components more often. Should I just concentrate my tonnage in fewer mechs and leave the last slot empty?

I'm curious why the paper dolls - and the HUD overall - look so much crappier than in MWO.
@@rangerwickett Because it's trying to be more 'simulator' than 'FPS'.
@@SongOfChaos1 that doesn't excuse what a crap fest the Mechbay is though.
Man your videos have helped me tremendously just wanted to thank you.
I love that one of the Factions gets an Assassin ASN-21 right away. That's the first mech I started out with on MWO and I still really like it.
Forevermore I will refer to Steiner as "Schteiner". Sounds so much cooler.
Seriously though, thanks for the run-through. You've convinced me to go ahead and buy. I had fond memories of Mechwarrior 3, but was really worried about whether this game would would be good.
I had the same smile on my face when watching that incredible intro!
Dude!!! Thank you so so much for letting me know it's now on xbox! Ever since I saw you play I have been dreaming of it. Now it's finally here! YAAAÀAAAYYÝYYYY
I'm excited for career mode. hoping it brings new life into the modding scene at least
Same, I doubt it will spawn something like Roguetech, but a man can hope.
In order for the AI to start shooting more frequently, you need to split the weapon groups and go all in with heat managment. Otherwise they wait forever.
Thanks for the info. Will try that.
I'm playing this on Xbox and it's amazing. Controller support is really a great addition to this game. I noticed it got better in the PC version but still kind of broken. On the Xbox its spot on.
That's good to hear. I was thinking about buying it for the XSX, because I don't have an PC at the moment.
Bro, I was amazed at how quickly you made a cool color scheme for your mech. Love the content
I basically run two of everything... much later on in my career of course.
mission variety is going to be key for an infinite mode, the egs version was so repetitive
Is there variety now?
@@diehard200 I doubt it, sadly. It seems the devs haven't done all that much between releasing MW 5 in Epic and releasing in Steam, GoG etc.
One new Biome it seems. Not great but its the first time we actually got new maps when we asked for them lol.
@@Tuulos Is multiplayer any better?
Gotta love how even when House Liaoning offers you the good shit. Nobody wants to fight for the Capellans lol. Federated suns for life, Inner Spehere now and forever!
You can use laser to cripple their foot first, then when they're slowing down, you can use your cannon. :)
" I don't want to play Liao" No one wants to be a Cappellan.
Even a Cappie doesn't want to be one.
You will love the special missions also superchargers are nice
For the masc and ecms ect there is a new button in the mechlab called "upgrades". That is where you place them.
@@evilactions1749 unfortunately. And they're mostly all shitmechs. Really only the ecm stalkers is good because you can give it 2llas, 4mlas, 2lrm15 and max out armour and dhs the bleep out of it. Still range brackets and runs hot as F.... but it IS a stalker after all.
@@DixonsCider Having a 60 Dragon that can run 84 kph and still pack fecemt firepower isn't bad either. And another useful one is the Raven that can carry a Bap and Guardian.
@@evilactions1749 mw5 just randomly handed me a supermech. Passing through steiner territory to murder some kuritans for steiner rep, amd one of the border industrial linked worlds was selling a hero mech (lol cicada) and other planets had some rare mechs and equipment. The rare mech they had
Battlemaster 1p. Big energy slot in arm. 4 torso lasers, a srm4, and an ecm and bap slot assault mech with great armour and speed.
I lucked out and found a max tier large pulse laser, so my arm laser is headcapping shit left and right.
You can spike your reputation gain by not taking anything during negotiation , so maybe just repair and bare bone reward , much like battletech if you dont take everything in c bills and salvage you get rep instead . its more of a long term thing where you sacrifice loot now to get more loot option quicker
I'll check it out. Thanks!
You can always hit Q at the purchasing screen to see the equipment on the selected mech bro. Nice videos always :)
Nice voice acting Col. Markson
An update for those who mod their game:
*Reloaded* and *Merctech* are not working
Check your mods you’ll most probably have to run the game stock until modders are going to update their mods 👍🏻
It looks like Reloaded is not coming anytime soon. :(
@@VJIX sadly this is true mod author is not interested in updating
BBBut all my mods are broken! WAAAAA!!!!!
edit: Managed to get Missionsfb, NoFriendlyFire, RemoveJumpShipAnimation, ScaryTanks, & the Weather fix mods to all work so far. No reloaded, no TTRulez so far
Nice and easy transition from MWO to this. Love that its getting good reviews. Been playing MW since the good oll days of roll-play.
Im really liking this game. I come from Armored Core so im new to all this, but its definetly scratching my mecha itch. I think im gonna get the DLC once I I finish the campaign.
Hi, as a swiss boy, i'm not a native english speaker but i can easily understand you so many thanks for the let's play :)
Atleast im training my english at the same time :p
The narrator during the intro video sounds like Optimus Prime.
I think he is the same guy that told the story in “Homeworld”.
Steiner doesn't start with a stealth Atlas?
Immersion Ruined
One thing I've always wondered is.... If space AT&T has total control over the hypercomm network, and I think the jump ships too and has such total control over high tech stuff, why haven't they long ago destroyed all the merc outfits, absorbed the mech pilots and their mechs and rebuilt the star league under their authority????
Comstar only controls the HPG network. That's it. That's important, but the Great Houses have much more power than Comstar does.
cicadas in MWO : easy to core
cicadas in MW5 : hard to core
Really looking forward to this! I've been loving your content for a while since i found you and this makes me wanna buy that game.
Thanks for the vid, very helpful, been playing mwo since beta but im running this on xbox!, the controls are surprisingly good, running the 3rd person view, has a little of that good ol mech clunky-ness and none of the bounce that you mentioned you were getting, thanks again, GV
I just picked up an AC20 Enforcer. It's the bees knees for early game. Literally became my favorite Med over night. I legit melt heavies
For the mech painting there was an option to "save as custom" too :)
Hes gothic, names Baradul, mega beard tail and he sounds even more gothic than the whole shizmic + mechs. You are a genre. awesome
Finally. More MW5! Just started last night. Beyond excited to see your play through.
Which faction did you start with?
House Steiner but I almost started with Davion.
I love it!
really enjoyed your video, you do a good job on keeping the video interesting.
Thanks a lot :) I do my best
Baradul: shits on the Spider
Me: Burn the Heretic!
I love light and medium mechs and rarely pilot heavies.
But the Spider is so bad... I'd rather drive a Valkyrie or Firestarter
"Spiders are never really good"
Next video!
Локуст в модификации 3v - крутая машина, способна разобрать любой другой мех на запчасти. И чем тяжелее противник, тем интереснее он разбирается :)
Refreshing until Baradul dropped the vid
"Back stab with my AC10." Ah, I see you too have played a 3rd Ed D&D half-orc rogue with a battleaxe! Also, Mechwarrior 6 on Unreal 5, with that micropolygon tech would be amazing.
haha, Bara with the same feeling I get. Liao mechs? +1, Playing Liao? -10k.
I want that white flash when mechs explode in MWO.
That would certainly be interesting.
Great video
My current plan is to griund faction reputation and then get all the goodies that I want :D
@@Baradul Cos you know you will always face the Mech you want at the wrong time, but see it in the shop afterwards lol
Nice coverage Bara, looking forward for a Merc unit growing up Roguetech style
Me too!
Awesome! I have been waiting for another play through of this. I can't wait to see where it goes, and what mods you add to it.
Mods are probably coming in later. I want to get a feel for the vanilla experience first.
@@Baradul It's for the best, showing us the base game first. Especially given that many mods won't work until they're updated... God, I hope someone picks up Reloaded and updates it.
This is making me wish Battletech (HBS) gave you a starting lance based on your ancestral faction. Also, while people are dunking on the Steiner scout lance for not being a 400-ton drop, can we take a moment to appreciate the lore-accurate Kurita lance with its DCMS-approved lack of mediums?
It can - play the Battletech Extended Commander's Edition mod. It's fantastic! It plays like vanilla but with more mechs, factions, larger map, it's great!
Also rougetech mod does give you a random lance based on faction, but that also makes the gameplay alot different, its awesome in my opinion.
@@JL-rj9fl Yup! Can attest to this, the major mods (Roguetech or Extended CE) for HBS Battletech make the game even better than it was. Gives you some nice random lance at the start
@@Thisisalamp Yeah, I haven't tried RT yet but I've done a few careers (including an ironman) with Extended and love it. I've got an 8 salvage pieces Capellan mechs only playthrough going on right now. It's been a blast.
Amazing video subscribed
I recommend replacing the AC10 with a burst model, at least until advanced tech is available, you can trace an enemy with it.
Burst ac also do more dmg if you hit with the full burst
And still no ability to play any of the periphery states. Sad Taurian noises
To be fair, it is called 'Heroes of the Inner Sphere.'
Bardul is back in the saddle, i mean mech cockpit. I knew he would return. We should make book, "Cronicles of Baradul and his adventures trough the inner sphere. "
Gotta say, good choice for starting with the Federated Suns. Glory to House Davion!!!
'I don't want to play Liao... Let's play Davion'... Video liked! lol
Yeah... No one wants to play a Capellan... Good call Bara.
It ends with 3049 i cant believe they stopped 7 months before the clan invasion... there MUST be some sort of DLC.
OOoo the narrator sounds like the same male voiceover for Homeworld!!! :)
At least in the beginning of the voiceover. Might have to look into that bit of info :)
Got the regular game today will grab this in a week or so thanks for this!
Nice! Enjoy :)
would really love to have a lightmech for tagging and supporting around in the lategame. Sadly the game is locked to 4 mechs... would be cool if you could get a 5th slot for a max 30-40 ton mech or something like that
also having presets on how the AI should behave would be cool.... dont want my lrm carrier constantly running ahead and facetanking in
@Alaberti well 4 is not enough, so either we go up to 5 or 8 :)
yeah the brawly ai is a real hassle, on the plus side it means they're too stupid to use their range advantage on you
If you do not mind what kind of setup are you using (equipment) on the play through?
“Cooling is, eh.. ok.”
“I’ll add a medium laser.”
“That’s a lot of heat.”
Good to know Baradul hasn’t changed during lockdown.
"Powerful and ruthless they struck like lightning..."
The one mech game i had the chance to play sadly was the mechassault series but i wish I could have played the mechwarrior games.
Solid content, cheers!
Streaks are absolutely amazing for early game vs all the light mechs.
Love the different story cinematic, several steps above the original which was just rushed and sudden..... I would look alot forward to career mode but first burn throug the campaign. ALso i got the game on vanilla xbox one, there might ve no infantry due to lack of power but tve controls and options are very good!
you can hold q in the market to show what comes in the store mechs
The graphics look way improved over Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries. I look forward to many, many play throughs of this!
jump jets actually seem worth it now, I am enjoying them and I didn't use them before
Newbie question... for early game in the campaign where your max tonnage is around 150-200, is it better to have a full lance of lighter mechs, or 3 mechs with more tonnage? Currently I've been running with 2 mediums and 2 lights, with one of the lights usually being a locust, but I feel like the lights tend to take more damage or lose components more often. Should I just concentrate my tonnage in fewer mechs and leave the last slot empty?
Question... do you think there will be an expansion or a couple DLC's that will include Clan Wars, and even maybe the Aurigan Coalition in 2025-2030?
