It’s actually my go to for beachhead missions up to 300t, as it’s speed means it just run through and take out the arty and radar, and then meet up with your forces for the actual battle.
It is really good, I got it early on in my first playthrough and it makes a hell of a difference. Although it might be too good actually, I found the early game for new playthroughs more challenging/fun without it. But I understand people enjoy things differently I vaguely remember him mentioning somewhere that he prefers using the "normal" mechs in these playthroughs to show everyone that they are still viable, but I could be mistaken.
I use it for 400t beach heads with an atlas a highlander and a stalker following behind Mine runs ssrm2 streak and medium lasers with max armour and as much ammo as possible without completely sacrificing cooling
@@dhoffnun Great build for the 4G: 2 Large Lasers in Right Torso, 2 Medium in the arms, two SRM4's with Artemis in missile slots, Light Engine. Works great.
started watching this LP and bought the DLC on steam. I really like MW5 but haven't really explored the entire universe or other games yet. Also liking your other battletech videos. Keep up the good work!
Man, watching you pass up the Trebuchet-LG was hard. Loup de Gurre is one of the best mediums out there, I rate it up with golden boy in terms of power, and generally has more utility. It’s so soooo fast (105 or 130 with speed upgrade) it can always just walk behind enemies and get back shots in, and SRM 16 is plenty enough to two shot most mechs in the game. BAP is just the cherry on top, allowing wall hacks. It is such a fun mech, I’d love to see you try it in a play through, as you turned it down in your HotIS play through as well, but I know you’d have so much fun in it.
Maybe by collecting yellow crate, you get the option of salvaging the Black Knight... So that would mean, that there is a game mechanic, that allows to salvage some mechs manually, which would be pretty cool! ...or it gives you the option of salvaging something of the destroyed mech like one of it's weapons
Maybe the yellow salvage was like confirming the kill for the bounty? Even if that's what it was, doesn't seem like it was working correctly, surprise, surprise.
If you ask me there should be an option in the salvage screen to pay money for extra salvage slots. So you don't get this frustrating one point missing for gear you want to use.
a good number of mods have been patched yes. compatability was out only for an hour or two, another weap was patched next day too. still waiting on merctech
Yet Another Mechlab and Yet Another Weapon are both updated for LoTKL, you can find them both on Nexus. There is Also Bobbert's Simple Zoom and Advanced Zoom, which require his Mod Options mod to work.
A Kintaro kitted out with the strongest three SRM-6s (remove the lasers) is a high speed killing machine able to maneuver around quickly for back armor shots on most other mechs including the heavies.
It tells you how many of an item you need for a cantina mission when you mouse over it in the Salvage screen. If you had looked, you would have seen it was showing 3/4.
I believe those missions where you destroy the building have infinite waves of hostiles to deal with. I had one the other day while I was streaming it and lost the mission despite having personally destroyed 10 other mechs over 20 for my whole lance. If the building is standing more just keep showing up. Had a lot of fun while it happened but eventually my Centi was overwhelmed... not even my lbx10 tier 3 could make up for the numbers, love a Centurion wielding a nice Lbx10.
Bara remember tht u can switch to ur lancemates Mechs in case u want to be faster after got lagged, or have a dedicated longrange mech while u are in a brawler and a ton of flyers show up on the horizon ^_~
To counterpoint your 'tons of salvage', the more you beat them down, the lower the salvage cost in picks. If you would have beat them up a little, like blow off a arm and take the legs, those heavies might have been down to 18 for picks. Your method is great if you have a ton of picks and it is cheap for repairs.
Hello Baradul! Please try the "Purchase Salvage" mod from the Nexus, which will allow you to take additional Salvage Points, but for mega costs. " Slap your employer in the face with C-Bills and take it (salvaged mech) anyway!" (С) Tested by myself with Kestrel and OK
Just finished. Last drop was a bit of trouble, could only muster up 265 of the 350 tons, but switched between 2 CTF-1x that are nearly identical and won it out. Mostly Heavies, a pair of mediums, finished with 73 million cbills, 11 active, 11 mechs in cold storage.
Wreck a mech to bits if you want a cheap salvage otherwise with a head shot it will be very expensive and one probably cant afford it. I destroy the arms first and then hit it all over and then take out the legs. Legs got plenty armor so no legs means a way cheaper salvage. I sometimes salvage pickup mechs with just one leg :D
I am amazed at all the changes graphically and with the UI. The Lasers are more vibrant, explosions, helicopter sounds, and the Planets... HOLY SHIT. Some of them are incredible. There was a sorta lava planet, the sky was sorta red - orange twilight, with two stars.. one white and the other a blue dwarf.... amazing. The new battlefields are epic as well. The only thing they need to correct is the Auto cannon sounds. You can barely hear it, but I am sure they know about it and will fix it soon. Just some new and amazing stuff.
Also... as you go if you have the money for Assault-Heavy Mechs... get them, because you will have little time to equip and mod them. I some how managed to squeak by the end mission with about 35-40 tons under suggested... No spoilers but its a great campaign.
I think the first mission was 'kill the mech we want and bring back the thing he's carrying'. That's why the pickup marker was yellow and didn't appear to give you anything.
the issue is ryana told them to evac before he picked it up, meaning he could've finished the mission, he got no bonus pay or anything so i dont think it was that, currently it seems no one knows what its for. some have suggested it might guarantee that the mech will show up in the salvage screen but thats just conjecture.
Around 29:24 ( and probably other times as well) up in the top right it says "contracts here may discover space suits cache". Thinking the yellow may have been one of those?

My guess is that caches are bugged right now. I have collected several caches like that (2 gold and many white ones) but have gotten nothing. Some still seem to work though
True, it felt so good to get the mechs piece by piece, even made you fight the same thing differently when u needed an other part of it...also shooting cockpits were a loooooot easier xD
i found it to be largely worse.... i mean it was much more predictable, but not necessarily in a good way. The problem with the mech parts system was that it became trivial to get any mech you wanted. there was never a reason to pay upfront for mechs in the market because they were way too pricey for how easy it is to get them yourself and there was no salvage variation. no matter what mech it was no matter its tonnage it was always 3 parts for salvage. this meant you would always just pick the highest tonnage pieces of salvage because they were worth the most and gave no downside. im actualy really into the whole semi randomness of salvaging mechs in mw5, i love that the mechs salvage cost is based off of the mechs tonnage, weapons and damage and that you dont just get the mech in pristine condition in your mechbay. having to refit and repair the mech you got depending on how damaged it was, maybe being able to grab 2 light mechs for the price of one medium or even grabbing all 6 of those level 3 medium lasers added a lot more thought into the salvage picks, as well as being able to pick every piece of salvage you get. in battletech i would rarely fail to kill a mechs pilot when i needed to and would also rarely come across a mission that simply wouldnt let me get 3 salvage picks. and when it came to picking my salvage i can count the number of times i prioritised none mech salvage on one hand, it will always be more profittable to grab 1 piece of an atlas and sell it over an ac20 or even ac20+, ++'s are the only times i'd actually choose to pick weaopns up.
ultimately though the change was simply made most likely because of how many mechs you encounter in mw5, its fine to have some randomness and more difficulty getting mechs because well... you fight so many per mission that you're probably not going to need to wait too long before you get a mech worth taking in the salvage screen. battletech had you usually fighting 3-4 mechs worht taking and maybe a lance of lights or mediums depending on where you are in the gamewhereas in mechwarrior 5 you will be fighting potentially 10 or more mechs of your own weight class if only slightly lower each mission and maybe more depending on your difficulty. currently 3-4 heavies / assaults are appearing on my salvage screen each mission so i have plenty of choice.
That is why i play with the "BetterSalvageShares" mod installed. That gives you 5 Salvage rights instead of 3 per negotiation point. I was anoyed to do mission over mission, and not be able to salvage anything valuable stuff i really wanted. So fixed that with the mod. The mod will not work in storymissions. But playing bounties and warzones now makes sense if you wanna farm some Mechs + equipment. I don't know if the mod is already updated to the new version of the game. so i wait, until this mod works again.
I know this is late, but didn't see the answer in the comments. The yellow salvage was the treasure hunt item for the Cantina mission. (Gold beam for treasure, I think)
You missed out on Goblin at lvl 47 and his hero Phoenix Hawk when you started the playthrough. I checked the transmissions to get the cantina missions (as you start at high enough lvl to get them) and saw him waiting to join as well.
Okay, so you gush about a Black Knight with one large laser and a bunch of small stuff, but you pass on the Grasshopper that mounts one large energy and a bunch of small stuff because its not good? They both punch stuff!
I have a procedure that works great for Beachhead missions. Makes beachhead mission a lot of fun. I like they didn't wimp out on the melee...it's balanced beautifully.
I like the new sounds, but they ruined the AC/20 "Thump"! The controller re-maps don't make sense for experienced players. I love this game, but I don't think I'll do a third play through 🙁
I think the sounds for autocannons are bugged for some people at the moment. Bara's seems to be ok from what I can tell, but mine are missing the firing boom & mechanical reload sounds, but I still hear some energy/power type of "bweeoop" recharge type of sounds. it's weird...
I can't for the sake of me find out what does the Mech Drop during this 2nd mission of this DLC? I'm looking everywhere and can't get a hint of it. If anyone can answer, please let me know.
Just 3 away is such a pain ;; Downloaded a new mod from Nexus today that lets you purchase salvage at an increased cost if you don't have enough points though, should consider picking it up when you go back to playing modded
question, if you skip the mission or after the mission...by any chance can re-start the campaign in the midst of the game or have to create an new session of it?
I've heard heat management is a huge issue now in some new campaign maps. Would all ballistic Lances be a way to go? Limited heat sinks and more ammo and armor. Also use and get medium mechs now since speed looks necessary eh?
Caches are bugged atm. Anything in a building like original works but everything in field/open doesnt. I got a mission recently with 2 downed dropships and spread around them was about 6 crates each. I got nothing for them at all
Does anyone know if the No Friendly Fire mod works with the new DLC yet? I’m waiting to pick the new content up until I can keep my teammates from shooting me in the back all the time!
The yellow should be cantina mission related, it showed on your list that you completed a mission, but couldn't tell which one due to your picture blocking it
Try clicking on job Reward as it was lit up as your mind dotted round in a thousand other places and your mouse was literally ontop of it at one point yet you still failed to see it lit up.
@@iconbearer Ah was wondering what it was lighting up for, Bara gets these scatterbrain moments where his mind pings everywhere instead of completing tasks in front of him.
I really don't get it why this game is using some strange salvage shares system that punishes you for preserving more value on the battlefield. This is just stupid. There is plain and simple system for contracts in RPG module for Battletech where you negotiate for up to x% of salvage value, among other things. This simple difference is what encourages you to get the most salvage on the board because it allows you to pick more or better things as a result. Shares system = you get 27 shares, you managed to down an atlas, regardless of what else is salvageable if it costs more than 27 you don't get it. %salvage value system = you get up to 20% of salvage value, you managed to down an atlas, you can work hard on getting total salvage to be 5x its worth and you can take it home.
For light mechs try to add 2 LRM5 and use medium lasers, group fire and aim before firing (do not waste hits, be good at a8ming). This will make your life better. Do not put weapons in the arms. Let me know how it goes. Torso twist 90 degrees to the side and set speed 70% wgen possible. Run when you do not need to turn. Instead of LRM10, LRM15, LRM20 use LRM5 only. Use medium lasers. Keeping less weapon types in inventory allows you to reduce spare part costs. At first it is expensive to install them but later it pays off.
Find any mechs with lots of missile hard points. Like the Trebuchet Hero, Archer AGC, Dervish Hero, Kintaro GB (speed is nerfed to 64), Stalker 3F or Archer 2S for your lancemates. Speed is key. Use SRM 4 & 6. Skip the fancy stuff, like streaks, streams, ARTEMIS. Skip lasers & ballistic weapons. They're too slow. Max frontal armor, 10 rear armor. Use 3rd person view instead of cockpit view. Spam SRM. Destroy the turrets, tanks, & helicopters first. Assign enemy mechs to your lancemates. Concentrate firepower on 1 mech at a time, just like in Starcraft (an old game). This game is RIDICULOUSLY EASY if you heed my advice. I don't take the multi-mission since you can't repair. Kintaro GB used to be my fav mech in 2020. Since it's now nerfed(speed slowed to 64), I use the Dervish Hero, Trebuchet Hero, Vulcan Hero. Here's a formula to determine how many SRM ammo to take. Say you have the Dervish Hero, which has 4 missile hardpoints. You fill it with 4 SRM4. 1 SRM ammo has 320 rounds. I usually take 4 SRM ammo. So 320 x 4 =1280. 1280 / 16 = 80 shots. 16 is from 4 SRM4. I don't use any mods. I find them lame. I just give myself any amount of money at the beginning, say 999,999,999. Then away I go without the needless grinding.
they should make a leg kick melee mod bescue all mechs can kick and it would have the similar melee weapon slots as hands but its bulitin any mech with legs instead! also it would be on all mechs with legs! for obesu reasons when you use leg kicks you kinda stop for a second or two when you kick! b then you would continue on! also in official battletech canon the legs targeting system is also in the same sistem you use for arms with the cockpit joystick trigger too! but instead you just flip a switch that basically switches from hiting with arms to kicking with legs instead of the hands! also it on by default if you mech has no hands or lower arm actuators of course! a mech can also just use their arms to do melee damage as long as they have lower arm actuators at the minimum! you don't need to have hand aractors to do melee with the arms of battletech mechs! the lack of hand acrators didn't stop the meruders from wacking you with their arms! if they can't uses realgar ppcs when in minmum range they will use there arms to hit you instead! also thats is just as damaging if not more damaging then regear ppcs anyway!
So does anyone realize you can control any of your lancemates now during combat? This changes the mechs I won't give to AI. Seeing I can just jump in it myself at crucial moments.
You are happy to pick up a blackjack or rifleman but turn down a hero trebuchet? What is this madness! To be fair trebuchets struggle with heat unless downing the firepower or double heatsinks. Personally I am a trebuchet fan, decent armour, good speed, SRMs. Better than a shadow hawk imo.
How are you torso twisting so fast? I started playing on ps4 and my torso twist is stupid slow. Doesn't matter which mech. Leads me to believe it is a setting that I am missing.
In space there is no "north" or "south". It's calles "coreward" and "spinward"... Also: why do you take forever to come to the part that was advertized in the title? I'm here for a "salvage trick", remember? What was THAT supposed to be, huh?

It is really good, I got it early on in my first playthrough and it makes a hell of a difference. Although it might be too good actually, I found the early game for new playthroughs more challenging/fun without it. But I understand people enjoy things differently
I vaguely remember him mentioning somewhere that he prefers using the "normal" mechs in these playthroughs to show everyone that they are still viable, but I could be mistaken.
I use it for 400t beach heads with an atlas a highlander and a stalker following behind
Mine runs ssrm2 streak and medium lasers with max armour and as much ammo as possible without completely sacrificing cooling
Yeah! Seeing some Quickdraw action! I'm a huge fan of the Quickdraw... A rarity apparently...
I had been sleeping on it - turns out it's great!
You want the Trebuchet Hero, it's one of the best srm mediums in the game imo.
My gut says that even if it does let a damaged black knight on the salvage screen, it'd cost too many salvage shares to allow the player to buy it.
THE YELLOW IS RECOVERING THE BODY OF THE TARGET FOR THE 'TARGETED ASSINATION'.
Maybe the yellow salvage was like confirming the kill for the bounty? Even if that's what it was, doesn't seem like it was working correctly, surprise, surprise.
Loved your color scheme so much I looked through all the videos to find it!
If you ask me there should be an option in the salvage screen to pay money for extra salvage slots. So you don't get this frustrating one point missing for gear you want to use.
Like Mechcommader2 was that u could salvage mech with C-Bills?
There is a mod that lets you do that I believe.
The Treb Loupe is awesome. quad SRM4s + 2xMLs. It also runs faster than most lights, making it capable of dominating early battlefields.
The Star Map Mouse Over mod still works...so there's that.
a good number of mods have been patched yes. compatability was out only for an hour or two, another weap was patched next day too. still waiting on merctech

If you had looked, you would have seen it was showing 3/4.
and a mission reward on the main menu

@@manty5 Pls fix Mechwarrior 5 soon :(
Holy f***. Now I remember why I stopped playing MWO.
I believe the gold cache is the bounty payout. I've never seen anything pop up after getting those... may be bugged too.
Have you seen the assassin variations in this? A UAC5 an two medium pulse lasers!
Looks like a job reward from a Cantina equiptment hunter.
23:58 A charger? So What, what are 5 small lasers gonna do to yo... Oh shit, Melee's a thing now.

LOL I was sitting here yelling CLICK JOB REWARDS
Around 29:24 ( and probably other times as well) up in the top right it says "contracts here may discover space suits cache". Thinking the yellow may have been one of those?

Yeah and the other one too with the marauder. If you do both of those it times out perfect with a little shopping.
My guess is that caches are bugged right now. I have collected several caches like that (2 gold and many white ones) but have gotten nothing. Some still seem to work though
40:35 the mech parts system from HBS Btech is so, so much better.
True, it felt so good to get the mechs piece by piece, even made you fight the same thing differently when u needed an other part of it...also shooting cockpits were a loooooot easier xD
i found it to be largely worse.... i mean it was much more predictable, but not necessarily in a good way. The problem with the mech parts system was that it became trivial to get any mech you wanted. there was never a reason to pay upfront for mechs in the market because they were way too pricey for how easy it is to get them yourself and there was no salvage variation.
no matter what mech it was no matter its tonnage it was always 3 parts for salvage. this meant you would always just pick the highest tonnage pieces of salvage because they were worth the most and gave no downside.
im actualy really into the whole semi randomness of salvaging mechs in mw5, i love that the mechs salvage cost is based off of the mechs tonnage, weapons and damage and that you dont just get the mech in pristine condition in your mechbay. having to refit and repair the mech you got depending on how damaged it was, maybe being able to grab 2 light mechs for the price of one medium or even grabbing all 6 of those level 3 medium lasers added a lot more thought into the salvage picks, as well as being able to pick every piece of salvage you get.
in battletech i would rarely fail to kill a mechs pilot when i needed to and would also rarely come across a mission that simply wouldnt let me get 3 salvage picks. and when it came to picking my salvage i can count the number of times i prioritised none mech salvage on one hand, it will always be more profittable to grab 1 piece of an atlas and sell it over an ac20 or even ac20+, ++'s are the only times i'd actually choose to pick weaopns up.
ultimately though the change was simply made most likely because of how many mechs you encounter in mw5, its fine to have some randomness and more difficulty getting mechs because well... you fight so many per mission that you're probably not going to need to wait too long before you get a mech worth taking in the salvage screen. battletech had you usually fighting 3-4 mechs worht taking and maybe a lance of lights or mediums depending on where you are in the gamewhereas in mechwarrior 5 you will be fighting potentially 10 or more mechs of your own weight class if only slightly lower each mission and maybe more depending on your difficulty. currently 3-4 heavies / assaults are appearing on my salvage screen each mission so i have plenty of choice.
oh boy ,we just got this game on playstation - i tried 4 part missions and they are tough
wOOO SEACOND IM STILL HAPPY
That is why i play with the "BetterSalvageShares" mod installed. That gives you 5 Salvage rights instead of 3 per negotiation point. I was anoyed to do mission over mission, and not be able to salvage anything valuable stuff i really wanted. So fixed that with the mod. The mod will not work in storymissions. But playing bounties and warzones now makes sense if you wanna farm some Mechs + equipment. I don't know if the mod is already updated to the new version of the game. so i wait, until this mod works again.
I'm currently playing with the DLC and BetterSalvageShares.. It works just fine
always awesome
you need to get heavier asap if you are planning to participate in Davion's adventure..;-)
I think it was part of a Cantina mission. You had a reward ready to collect from a cantina mission when you finished that mission.
That Cantina reward was for the "Collect 1Jenner" that he was saving for later.

It’s in the canteen. You got a mission to get an item.
I have a procedure that works great for Beachhead missions. Makes beachhead mission a lot of fun. I like they didn't wimp out on the melee...it's balanced beautifully.

I'm also using the one that gives u 5 salvage per negotiation point instead of 3. Even with both it doesnt feel unbalanced

question, if you skip the mission or after the mission...by any chance can re-start the campaign in the midst of the game or have to create an new session of it?
I've heard heat management is a huge issue now in some new campaign maps. Would all ballistic Lances be a way to go? Limited heat sinks and more ammo and armor. Also use and get medium mechs now since speed looks necessary eh?
Heat management is based on a good build. If your mech is overheating often, change the build, maybe change your game style.
Caches are bugged atm. Anything in a building like original works but everything in field/open doesnt. I got a mission recently with 2 downed dropships and spread around them was about 6 crates each. I got nothing for them at all

This game is so hard to me, especially the missions where you cannot repair. I like it but I suck at it LOL
@@aquarius5719 Rgr that! I will give it a my friend!
I saw that, but can't figure out how to switch mid-mission. What button is it? Thanks in advance!
Well I play on the xbox. The advanced menu , where you change your view and throttle decay is the place I found it.
The salvage crates are bugged. They don't always give salvage like they should.
I used to run 120fps on mw5 with mods, and now I'm stuttering and getting 40 fps, I believe something went wrong. Anyone with the same issue?
Hmnn didn't I just see a green " collect Jenner 1/1 " that you missed?
I would say that it is actually his Jenner that he could sometimes use, so he doesn't want to turn that in atm
