Night Train is a very cheap, high alcohol content wine. A fave from my college years. The song was written after they walked around a park all night consuming it. Slash famously said, “This song is basically about a walk in the park”.
Think of MD 2020, Ripple, Thunderbird etc. Cheap wine drank mostly by winos. Tastes okayish, will definitely get you fucked up, will probably make you sick at the end of the night, and you will have the worst hangover ever. But will get the job done if you only have a couple of bucks
In one of my film classes we had a classmate named Earl who loved Guns N’ Roses. He did a commercial on Night Train Express (grape flavored wine, 18% alcohol) to this song Axel enthusiastically sings of. He came into the studio around 11pm, his idea was stack the 8 bottles high and film, a pretty basic idea. The next morning Earl was found passed out next to the bottles by our professor-three of the bottles were empty. Go Earl go!

Yeah and it came out in 1987, perhaps the most synthy and polished Heavy Metal period, it surely dropped like a bomb at the time with its all guitar "dirtyness". I was 16 in 1987 so i remember i borrowed the CD off a mate a work and taped it, i much later bought the CD myself. It really is a fantastic album and i still love to listen to it, albums like this reminds me why i play the guitar and write Heavy Metal songs although this isnt really Heavy Metal more like Hard Rock.

Nightrain is a very cheap wine that Guns N' Roses drank a lot of while recording Appetite For Destruction. Its also the drink of choice for hobos and bums. >> Axl Rose wrote this in 1985 when Guns N' Roses were living in Los Angeles and playing gigs on the Sunset Strip. The song is about how they were so reckless, crazy and poor that the only alcohol they could afford was the Nightrain. After every show they would get drunk and walk back home singing the lyrics to "Nightrain" until it finally came together. >>
I had a boss when I worked a Taco Bell in '82 who would have a party at his house occasionally. He would buy a bottle of Nightrain and pay money to whoever would drink it. It would always end horribly. Never did it, but saw the results.

Every time we’d be out cruising around in my car this album was on continuously when it first came out.
I cannot begin to tell you JUST HOW BIG the GnR/Metallica tour was in '92. It was a media frenzy, Axel at his peak,(at least at starting controversy) and METALLICA was Just kicking the door in. What a show, what a year!!!
Guys. It’s been 36 YEARS since Guns came out. They have literally TONS of documentaries on them. Go on you tube. The have just Axl. Or just Slash, then the whole band & how they got together. There enough to let you watch for a week!!!
Pretty much. Axl was fine when they started. Became a psycho when they made it big. They broke up & 30 yrs later Axl is normal again & they are back together again. The end. 😂😂😂
We used to have a cruising strip in front of my local pool hall back in the late 80s. Gnr would always be blasting out of some badass muscle car or street truck
one of my favorite songs. Live versions are fire too
I could tell that you were enjoying that one Brad. That made me happy!!!!
it was a crazy short time with GnR. Sweet Child of Mine video I was at that show it was GnR, Deep Purple and Aerosmith great night. A spot in the upper deck was lit on fire during Smoke on the Water.
This song is sooo rocking and fun to play on the guitar
"Patience", is my favorite Guns & Roses song.❤❤❤
This album was their best. This was the epitome of Sleaze rock. they embraced the sex drugs and rock n roll lifestyle.
Honestly, my favorite rock song of all time. Great reaction!
It wasnt a single but the song is a staple of their live shows.
One look at the picture on the back cover of this album will tell you more than any documentary XD
It's the band in the middle of what seems to be one of their many nightly binges.
EVERY song on that album is amazing, the non popular ones maybe even more so :)
Was in high school when Appetite for Destruction came out. Then Lies, Lies, Lies. Very diverse...people still remember me as a Guns Fan!
GnR - great rock band the album this song is off is outstanding.
I was in my teens when this released, awesome times.
