"You're Crazy" by GnR is also a proper Un-Valentines song (either version is good, one from the original album is all electric and the second off "Lies" is all acoustic, both are awesome)
I prefer Lies acoustic but it's also awesome live because they literally combine the two.

I had to put my dog down, couldn’t stop crying. Vet staff took my keys until I could drive. I had to then go pick up my daughter from school, so I prayed for strength and something else to think about. Got in my car, and this song immediately came on the radio. God has a sense of humor.

And I read something once that I don't know if it's true or not, but supposedly the FBI raided his house and dug up his yard looking for a body. That's why I laugh every time I hear this song.

I read in an artical about 20 years ago that the song is actually about his dog that was dying of illness and was in pain. He put the dog down himself. The lyrics were written that way to mask it was about his dog.

Rocket Queen is the song you were trying to remember. The girl was the drummers girlfriend with Axl. She was emotionally messed up from that for many years.
Weird Al's One More Minute is another great love song worth listening to.
My friends had this as their first dance song at their wedding. Thirty years later they are still married and above ground.
Back in the day, I remember watching an interview with the band where they said this song was about a dog one of them owned.
The album cover this was on was printed like a newspaper with song titles as the headlines and brief synopses of the songs as the text. The text for this read "A joke, nothing more" lol
This was one of very 2 controversial songs off of their "Lies, Lies, Lies" album. The other one is "One In A Million" which is the one that caused the most controversy between the 2.
Yeah, One in a Million is not an easy song to take in. It's maybe the ugliest, angriest song of theirs.
The recording of You're Crazy off this record is definitely worth your time. So groovy.
Always loved the music for "One in a million" & a guy on youtube called "Tyler Rosen" did a great instrumental of it, because how else can you really recommend it to someone?
I remember losing so much respect for Axel Rose and GnR in general when I first heard One in a Million. I couldn’t believe one of my favourite bands would come out with something like that.
Yeah, I'm still waiting for the One In A Million reaction. I don't see it happening. The funny element around that song is an interview with Slash, whose mother of course is black. The interviewer asked what he thought when the N line came in and Slash replied "yeah, it was disconcerting". I found it hilarious that he was so collegial about it and chose "disconcerting". Slash is a classy guy.

They recorded this entire album in 1 session. It was our hold over album until Use your illusion 1&2 came out.
Electric version was on appetite for destruction, acoustic was on the ep lies. So a yes and no on your point.
The first side of GNR lies are songs from an EP, Live Like a Suicide, they released before appetite for destruction.
The second side are the four new songs they recorded.
My friend bought it, I saw it sitting in his collection. I'm like dude how is it? He was like don't buy this shit. I listen to it but it totally not an album you would expect.

@@WyattsWildNature I mean, the Lies EP's first half of the Live like a Suicide EP was very raw and kind of cool to hear them before Appetite blew them up. The new/Acoustic side was a cool collection of tunes showing they could do good acoustic music. I actually liked it.

Another great songs on this album is one in a million. This is pure G&R at the beginning of the rocket launch that shot their career to super stardom, the live performances on side one is just them having fun and tearing it up.

It's an amazing song. I don't why people get so hung up on certain words being in songs when they tolerate the same words being used in movies. A song is just another way to tell story. It doesn't mean the band supports the ideas. It's just a song.

You should also check out Dust an' Bones and 14 Years sung by former guitarist Izzy Stradlin. Love these two. A very non typical song are the short My World. Doesn't sound like GNR at all

They played this early in the show when I saw them live in 2016, it was perfect, easy going vibe, while people were still filling up.the stadium . I hopped off the LRT train & instantly realized how loud the show was gonna be , outdoor stadium , excellent acoustics & mixed just right, too.

I gotta say it was the 80's, some lyrics were really about deep feelings and others were not to be taken so seriously, like Used to Love Her. In the end it was about rock and roll, having fun and talking about what they wanted :)
Lol their banter at the end is great. The whole thing about the double dream and being annoyed but it didn’t even really happen and then brads ultimate why dream about you complaining when I can have it in real life. lol the fact they can just joke around like that and laugh that’s what a tight relationship is all about .
