Keep in mind these guys were probably early 20's in 1987 when this album came out. Aside from blowing us all away with the amazing, heavily blues based, very rhythmic music, the band definitely had a "sleasey" kind of vibe and appeal. Very much a sex, drugs and rock & roll vibe from day one.

@Noah Durham it’s so easy, mr brownstone, November rain. Live performances with The Rolling Stones Axl adjust his voice to match Jaggers on Salt of the earth. Live performances of knocking on heavens door. Dead Horse is great. Axl has a lot of range.
@DrumsnWeed420 There has been talk but it's never been recorded. Recorded he has a 5 octave and 2 1/2 notes - so almost a 6 -(F1-Bb6). Mike Patton beat his with a recorded 6 octave (D1-F7).

It was Adler's girlfriend. Axel was friends with her and Steven treated her like shit, plus he really wanted to put live sex in a song. Also he kept making the sound guy stop recording because she kept going over the top fake with it and he wanted it to be real.
The guitars working in tandem in this song is what makes it imo. Izzy's part is more of a lead while Slash bangs out the chords. Izzy's part is a lot more complicated to play and amazing. And yes, the moans are real. Steve Adler's GF and Axl did a recording that made it into the song.
They were one of the best bands I've ever seen live. Saw them on the tour for this album. They opened for The Cult and most of the crowd had no idea who they were. This is a great choice, a real banger!!
Yeah, I saw them touring for this first album too. They were opening up for Motley Crue on their Girls, Girls, Girls tour. We had to look up who they were before the show, but loved the copied tape we got ahold of and LOVED them. They were great, even though they only got a tiny part of the Motley Crue stage. I saw GNR play this live. In the middle during the solo Slash extended the solo and rocked the F out for 10 minutes before bringing it back and going into that end part. I was in GNR Heaven! But this one is tied with "It's So Easy" as my favorite GNR song.
Have you watched the South Park episode about Slash, I think it's the "Slashmas" episode. Slash is like a Santa that comes to every Childs house once a year. So fire.
Almost all of Appetite for Destruction is written from a street life view. The scene, the drugs, the attitude, way before this band made it big. Axl comes from a pretty crazy background and brought it to Hollywood ......along with Izzy (childhood friend) but at different times and finally creating GnR. All of these guys had that attitude from a very real place. "leave you strung out much too far". I remember hearing Welcome to the Jungle on a pirate radio station before it went big. Instantly fell in love with that music. The GnR attitude pretty much smoked the hair band scene at the time.
@@chrisknoll1910 W. Axl Rose is the greatest singer and songwriter of all time - and One in a Million is one of the most genius and wonderful songs ever written. Completely misunderstood by lesser mortals. Thought crime and restrictions on what people can say are always wrong and a mistake.
I’m in my sixty’s and have went to several of their concerts….Best ever. Just look at the crowds they had back in those days. No auto tune , just damn good music!
That smile that Lex was giving during the outro guitar solo is how I felt as a kid, its what made me wanna pick up a guitar and learn to play like Slash. Great vid reaction vid. Ur chemistry is awesome.
You'll see whole new dimensions of this group when you get into the Illusion albums where they show a lot more range and get more into story telling. Also Slash starts getting multiple solos in a lot of songs.
The "Rocket Queen" is a woman named Barbi Von Greif, at least according to the Appetite For Destruction liner notes, which thank "Barbi (Rocket Queen) Von Greif." She hung out with the band in their early years along with her roommate, Pamela Manning. According to Manning, she and Von Greif had a band for a short time (Barbi sang, Pamela played drums) and Von Greif wanted to name it Rocket Queen. She was 18 years old at the time, but full of fire - Slash called her "a queen of the underground scene." Little is known about her, but she is not the girl moaning in the song. Regarding Barbi Von Greif, Axl Rose said, "She kind of kept me alive for a while." Near the end of the song, he sings: Don't ever leave me, Say you'll always be there, All I ever wanted Was for you to know that I care. "The last part of the song is my message to this person, or anybody else who can get something out of it," he told Hit Parader in 1988. "It's like there's hope and a friendship note at the end of the song." There is a legend attached to this song that happens to be true: the moaning and other sex sounds that appear in the middle of the song were recorded while Axl Rose was having sex with a woman in the recording studio - and she was drummer Steven Adler's girlfriend. Her name is Adriana Smith, and she did the deed "for the band" one night when she was mad at Adler. "For that song there was also something I tried to work out with various people - a recorded sex act," Axl Rose explained. "It was somewhat spontaneous but premeditated; something I wanted to put on the record. It was a sexual song and it was a wild night in the studio." Smith came to the studio looking to make Adler jealous, which is when Axl made his pitch about recording the act - you know, for art. Engineers miked up the floor of a vocal booth, dimmed the lights and hit the red button while Rose and Smith had at it. According to Smith, it was a bit awkward, as Axl wanted serious passion, which was hard to deliver under the circumstances. It took a while (and some alcohol), but they got what they needed and mixed the lovemaking into the song. Smith had a hard time in the aftermath, saying the incident "weighed on her soul." All she got out of it was a bottle of Jack Daniel's and a degree of infamy. The band headed out on tour, became wildly famous, and left Smith behind. She became a drug addict and spent a lot of time dealing with the shame she felt. Michael Barbiero, who mixed the album, wanted nothing to do with recording the sex scene in the studio, so after setting up the microphones, he had assistant engineer Victor Deyglio record it. On the album, Deyglio is listed as "Victor 'The F--kin' Engineer' Deyglio" because of this contribution.
You gotta check out some live performances with them in the early days. Live in Tokyo ´92 or Live at the Ritz ´88. That´s really something! I´ll suggest 2 songs: Knocking on heaven´s door live at the Ritz and November Rain in Tokyo 🤘
Very likely. It's often acknowledge as the best on the album by those familiar, and the best songs on the album were the ones they weren't allowed to play on the radio at the time.
this the song they were playing in St. Louis when Axl jumped into the crowd to take an audience member's camcorder and got into a fight. When he got back on stage, he quit the show and stormed off stage which led to the infamous Riverport Riot in 1991
Appetite is complete truth. Rocket Queen to me was a girlfriend early when the band was on the rise. Probably had money and a little older. And extremely troubled. In the beginning he felt as he’s just using her but eventually catches some feelings but at the end of the day her life is toxic to his goals and dreams. He has to let her go but doesn’t want her to feel alone.
The song is about a friend of the band. The two first verses are from her perspective and the last one is sung to her. Also, Lex has the best description of what sounds feel. Have seen a few of your videos. Keep up the good work!
The moans are a recording of Axl and GnR drummer Steven Adler's girlfriend doing the deed in the sound booth. Axl asked and she obliged haha. She's (Adriana Smith) a legend in the 80's rock community
One of the most epic outros. Showing their hard side and then their soft side. The rythm section in this is just top notch. Best incarnation of GNR. Too bad Steven was lost. Losing Izzy was a blow too, imo. big influence on the writing, so it changed the band too. Axl's voice is in falsetto. He can sing deep too.
Your reactions to GnR are so much fun, seeing how you both like different parts of the songs, great stuff! But you've still gotta react to Alter Bridge, c'mon! I think you'll both love it! Start with Alter Bridge - Blackbird.
One of GNR’s finest works. That Middle 8 when it goes instrumental w the guitar riff is exceptional. Lex, the sign of a great band is being able to sound different on every song.
React to anything off of Appetite for Destruction - not only their best, but the best debut album ever. Sex, drugs and rock’n roll personified, before Axl got all artsy.
Noooo, Patience is supppperrrr boring and overrated, not Lex's type of song at all! If they do anything from Lies, it needs to be Used To Love Her or One In a Million!
The "two different bands" thing from Lex is a bit strange to me because I couldn´t possibly imagine Guns n Roses with any other singer. Axl belongs to the band like the band belongs to him.
Y’all are tapping into the vibe of the mid 80’s…Hair Bands were prolific and the music was starting to get stale…G&R came out and punched everyone in the face and we LOVED it! It really was very different from everything else going on at the time.
I believe Axl is using a “falsetto/regular” mixed voice in many songs- it’s an affected vocal style. His speaking voice is normally deep, so it’s anything but squeaky. Try doing the song, “It’s So Easy”✌🏼
From memory, Rocket Queen was written for one of the females that was close to Axel. And it is a tribute as well as a message to her. From Axel. Letting her know he would always be there. And he might be young but not naïve
Think this is their best song. Civil War, Coma, and of course the rest of this great album are good too. But I just love this song. Saw them in 88 when they opened for Aerosmith touring Appetite. Then again when they toured with Metallica. Those were the days. Saw Slash a few years back in a small club with Myles Kennedy on vocals and they did an awesome version of this one. Know people will request November Rain, but always felt a bit bloated and overwrought to me.
Lex will LOVE nighttrain !!! Such a banger of a song !! Guitar solos a awesome groove and axl destroying the microphone 🎤 and just plain the whole band jammin out
The Slash and Myles Kennedy live versions are great! Especially that whole concert in Sydney, Australia where they do G-n-R, Vevet Revolver, and Slash and Myles songs! Check it out!

Axl Rose 🌹 is one of a Kind.
One of a kind...or One in a Million?
(please don't react to that song, you'll not like it)
@@chrisknoll1910 W.
Regarding Barbi Von Greif, Axl Rose said, "She kind of kept me alive for a while." Near the end of the song, he sings: Don't ever leave me, Say you'll always be there, All I ever wanted
Was for you to know that I care. "The last part of the song is my message to this person, or anybody else who can get something out of it," he told Hit Parader in 1988. "It's like there's hope and a friendship note at the end of the song."
There is a legend attached to this song that happens to be true: the moaning and other sex sounds that appear in the middle of the song were recorded while Axl Rose was having sex with a woman in the recording studio - and she was drummer Steven Adler's girlfriend. It was a sexual song and it was a wild night in the studio."
Smith came to the studio looking to make Adler jealous, which is when Axl made his pitch about recording the act - you know, for art.
Great channel guys👏🏼..”Mr.Brownstone” will be your favorite G and R song I’m predicting it right now👍🏼
Very likely. It's often acknowledge as the best on the album by those familiar, and the best songs on the album were the ones they weren't allowed to play on the radio at the time.
I love Mr. Brownstone ❤️
There is so much going on in the background of this song. Listening to it on a good pair of headphones is the best way to listen to Rocket Queen
Thumbs up if you owned this on cassette.
this the song they were playing in St. Louis when Axl jumped into the crowd to take an audience member's camcorder and got into a fight. When he got back on stage, he quit the show and stormed off stage which led to the infamous Riverport Riot in 1991
Thanks for doing this one, and the studio version! I love this song, played the whole album over and over in college, but this was one of the best
That bass. Duff for the win.
React to Slash ft Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators - Anastasia (Live in Sydney) 🤘🏼🎩
That is AMAZING!
You guys should do a reaction to GnR live at the Ritz '89... Legendary
The song is about a friend of the band. The two first verses are from her perspective and the last one is sung to her. Also, Lex has the best description of what sounds feel. Have seen a few of your videos. Keep up the good work!
If you want to hear Axl sing low, check out for example the song "It's so easy".
GnR are masters of switching up the beat and theme and blending it together seamlessly.
The moans are a recording of Axl and GnR drummer Steven Adler's girlfriend doing the deed in the sound booth. Axl asked and she obliged haha. She's (Adriana Smith) a legend in the 80's rock community
I was just reading to see if someone mentioned that. I was a little surprised Brad thought that was a guitar making those sounds.
Yep
My fave tune from Appetite!!!
It's so seedy and raw, love watchin you rockin out girl 🤪
One of the most epic outros. Showing their hard side and then their soft side.
The rythm section in this is just top notch. Best incarnation of GNR. Too bad Steven was lost. Losing Izzy was a blow too, imo. big influence on the writing, so it changed the band too.
Axl's voice is in falsetto. He can sing deep too.
Lex would just melt for the guitar on "Estranged" great song
Your reactions to GnR are so much fun, seeing how you both like different parts of the songs, great stuff! But you've still gotta react to Alter Bridge, c'mon! I think you'll both love it! Start with Alter Bridge - Blackbird.
One of GNR’s finest works. That Middle 8 when it goes instrumental w the guitar riff is exceptional. Lex, the sign of a great band is being able to sound different on every song.
This song and Locomotive are their best, can never get enough of them.
Listen to Coma, Dead horse, It's so easy, Double talking jive, Used to love her and others.
React to anything off of Appetite for Destruction - not only their best, but the best debut album ever. Sex, drugs and rock’n roll personified, before Axl got all artsy.
@J King poison? Yeah those girls rocked
@J King LOL
This album dropped my senior year in HS school with The Cult's "Electric"....we were in heaven back then.
Those sex sounds are real. Axl uhhh got with Steve Adler's (drummer) girlfriend in the studio to record those sounds.
sad story actually.
I’d highly recommend the song “Patience”. I think Lex would like Axl’s voice better in that song.
That song sucks ass bro, it's so over thrashed.
Noooo, Patience is supppperrrr boring and overrated, not Lex's type of song at all! If they do anything from Lies, it needs to be Used To Love Her or One In a Million!
@@xSOILBORNx One in a million.
axl has such voice control, in his earlier days he had a 6 octave range!
Estranged and Don't Cry!! Also Axl has a 6 octave vocal range which is the highest for any other singer ever
The "two different bands" thing from Lex is a bit strange to me because I couldn´t possibly imagine Guns n Roses with any other singer.
Axl belongs to the band like the band belongs to him.
I know what she's trying to say but I don't get her point
My all time favorite gnr song.
Y’all are tapping into the vibe of the mid 80’s…Hair Bands were prolific and the music was starting to get stale…G&R came out and punched everyone in the face and we LOVED it! It really was very different from everything else going on at the time.
Brad obviously got a good night's sleep after the long stream yesterday, because his reaction to this song was kick ass. 👌
You guys should do the whole Appetite For Destruction album. Not my favorite band, but I think it’s the best album ever recorded. Front to back.
My boy Brad grinning during that first solo makes us guitar guys happy.
In every video, her face changes every single time he starts singing. ☠️🤣
You must listen to “Coma” from them, it’s another one that has multiple changes during the song!!🎵 🎵🎵
Guitar solos a awesome groove and axl destroying the microphone 🎤 and just plain the whole band jammin out
You should do NIGHTRAIN 🤘
Such a Great song probably my other favorite besides Rocket Queen
They should also check out "Mr. Brownstone"
The Slash and Myles Kennedy live versions are great! Especially that whole concert in Sydney, Australia where they do G-n-R, Vevet Revolver, and Slash and Myles songs! Check it out!
Check out "Used to Love Her" for a little dark comedy.
ITS SO EASY!!!!!!!!!!!!
