This entire album is incredible. I lived in LA during this era, I used to see the GnR guys out at clubs. Fun times!! I love this song.
how was the sound in the club days? Would be interessting how the sound technical stuff was.
Less traffic. Gritty scene. All analog sounds and lots of girls to fight over. Different times for sure. Smaller world

Honestly I'm not the person to judge quality of sound, I just know if I can hear it, it's the sound is clear etc. Probably somewhere like The Cathouse which was owned by Rikki Rachtman from MTV and where ALL the rockers went and performed, like GnR and everyone, those systems were probably great. Same with The Whiskey & other iconic places.

@@stacie9229 How fun!!! Slash is a born and raised L.A. guy so he was out and about everywhere. Living in Laurel Canyon must've been great, you're so lucky. I dated a guy who lived in Axl's posh building above Sunset. David Lee Roth also lived there and we shared an elevator with him, lol. L.A. was so great back then.

"Nightrain" (pronounced "Night Train") is a song by American rock band Guns N' Roses. The song is a tribute to an infamous brand of cheap Californian fortified wine, Night Train Express, which was extremely popular with the band during their early days because of its low price and high alcohol content.[3] The title is spelled differently, omitting a T and removing the space, making a portmanteau of the two words.

Hey huge Gun N Roses fan here. I read a book and the lead singer Axl Rose said while in L.A. there was a store that sold a wine called Night Train and it was cheap AF and would get you drunk AF. Basically the 4loko of the 80's.
I saw an interview saying the same.

I was on the Night Train in my early years a few times...oh boy that was some mean stuff! Could pick up a bottle for $1.50 back in 1991. Never drink the entire bottle in less than 30 mins. It's wine but "fortified" wine. Kicks in when you least expect it.

Congratulations on being one of, if not the fitst reactor to click that it's a drink called 'Night Train'. According to their biographies, it was a cheap/strong drink. I assume the 'flying like an aeroplane' means getting high as well..... 🎉

God damn, makes me want to bust out this album again. What a band...they hit the scene and just closed down the whole glam band movement for good. They had the hair but dressed like real rock and roll stars. Everything quickly transitioned to grunge after that.
They say grunge killed glam...GNR KILLED GLAM... Grunge snuck in the back door during the commotion. 🤘

Night train is a cheap liquor we all drank in the 70s
so here's the whole story. night train was a real cheap wine. it was all they could afford at the time. they would walk to a liquor store a couple blocks away, buy a bunch of it, and on their way back they would take turns singing lines about it. when they had all the lines they liked, they put music to it and put it on the album.
They were going hard on this one, slash was rippin it
