I basically just run loosely connected one shots for my family, but one of my daughters did indeed play a lizardfolk at one point. You're right about the lack of lizardfolk minis. Had to use a serpentfolk (pathfinder) to represent her girl.

Amazing review as always! It would be nice to see some change ups though. We have plenty of dragonborn fighters and tiefling sorcerers. I'd love to see a dragonborn ranger, a tiefling paladin, or half orc druid. It would be nice to see a class for each race. I have over 300 minis, and I would add those in a heartbeat!
I thought so at first too. But I've caught myself going back and buying multiple teiflings and dragonborn because of the versatility in the lineage. I have all metallic and all chromatic dragonborn options, similar concept with teiflings.
Love to see a live painting show! I'm always curious to see how much other people thin their paints. I've seen it anywhere from "straight from pot" to "thin enough to need four coats".
I think it depends on the paints themselves. I have mostly Citadel, some P3, some army painter, and some reaper paints. In my experience, Citadel and Army painter do need to be thinned down (I try to do the two thin coats method) while P3 is quite watery but I still thin it down although then it takes four layers for a single solid coat. From my limited use of Reaper paints they seem to be a compromise between P3 and citadel. I'm now curious about your own experience with paints.
@@armandosantellano2171 , I've tried Citadel and while I like it yeah, it needs to be thinned down quite a bit. I typically use Army Painter since it's easily accessible at the local game store but do thin it down and use about 2-3 coats. Reaper I like and it's semi-easily accessible (since I'm about 30 minutes from their office in Denton), but I have the hardest time with color blending. With Citadel and AP at least i have color charts so I can somewhat get what colors go together (triad color I think is what it's called). I'd like to try out Vallejo but it's so hard to get physically, I usually have to get whatever color I want online.
@@dsanzgiri I myself have been wanting to replace most of my Citadel paints with either Vallejo or Reaper paints but my local store mainly stocks Citadel so i have to get them online if I do decide to buy them. My experience with Army Painter has been largely negative since I bought the D&D Minsc & Boo paint set with only 2 paints being useable and the rest being somewhat useable or just unusable. Though I'm somewhat convinced I just got a bad box.
Already bought the Plague Doctor and Bounty Hunter miniatures. All four of those miniatures a unique from all the other miniatures that typically carry a melee weapon.
Great showcase. Some gaps that will need to be filled, and some mould line, but at this price point that is to be expected. The plague doctor is the winner :)
I wish they would make triton characters minis and I wish they would make tieflings in a different class other than warlock, rogue, and sorcerer (which looks the same as warlock)
We really need some pc Aarakocra minis. The only Aarakocra we have is a single enemy from the Nolzurs line and two Aarakocra from Icons of the Realms (one of which is a particular ToA npc)
...I think of this set in the same way that I regard the Mythic Odyssey of Theros set--I see what they were going for, and there are some cool ideas, but it's not quite *there* yet. With the Theros set, the colors and transparent features were quite a mess, and not really indicative of their source art. With these...oof--those seams and mold lines are rough. I mean, I'd like more hobgoblins, eladrin, and some variation in the lizardfolk, but I hesitate with such wishes looking at a set like this. I played a lizardfolk ranger with a styracosaurus-crest shield and a pickaxe--just a bunch of things I hadn't played with before. I tend to overthink and overdeliberate, and it was kinda fun playing a character who's mentality wasn't overburdened by those tendencies.

Nothing is on the calendar yet except for a wave of Critical Role unpainted minis in September, but those aren't considered part of these waves.
A lot of those have some of the worst mold lines I have seen from this series. Several I really like in this set.
Yeah as much as I like Wizkids I have yet to encounter a single mini without a ugly mold line or defect that ruins the detail of the mini.
