Ah yes, Skyrim, the only game where you can convince people everything is okay despite having 5 arrows lodged in their groin so long as your sneak skill is high enough. Props to this guard for gaslighting the entirety of Whiterun, the whole Imperial Legion and Stormcloak rebellion, and several dragons into getting along peacefully. "It must have been the wind," indeed.
Leaves from the vine, Falling so slow, Like fragile tiny shells, Drifting in the foam. Little soldier boy says, "Carry me home" Sleeping soldier boy, Is carried home.’
I'm now imagining in 70 years hearing the phrase "must have been the wind" and then just singing this for hours straight and the staff in the elderly home being extremely confused and trying to stop them
@@larrychilders6599 Whenever TES6 comes out, I suspect skyrim will get less playtime. But We have to hope Bethesda keep this guard dialogue in all TES games. hopefully in 70 years, we will be at TES10 LOL. I like this song because it's not just a meme, he's aware of all the things happening around him, but he simply chooses how it affects him, since he can't change it. It's a good song about not worrying, which nowadays is a welcome sight
All it took was a guard from Whiterun to end the civil war between the empire and the stormcloak by holding a concert open to all residents of Skyrim. Finally, a good ending to the quest.
I'd love to point out, that this man decided to just rock out during THE OBLIVION CRISIS. the gods were invading his home and he just burst into song, absolute king
I don't know how you guys do it. Your songs manage to get stuck in my head for days on end whenever I listen to them. They are great, but man are they also the most persistent earworms ever written. Especially the ones you'd rather not be singing in a public place! But mostly this one.
I like how Gabe recovered from the traumas of the "songus amongus" video after 10 months. Even the doctor is the same one, that sat with him in the ambulance car. These details, wheter they are tiny or not, are truly amazing
This had no business continuously increasing in epicness throughout the entire song with how silly the concept was, and yet it just kept going harder and harder non-stop (absolute genius whoever thought to use the Skyforge as a stage), like is there anything you guys *can't* do??? Also Paimon coming out of nowhere actually made me spit out my drink, if that's a teaser for the next song then I'm already eagerly awaiting your next release.
My guess is that it’ll have themes about addiction. The doctor giving a warning to Prof. Chalk about addictive games, Paimon holding a pill bottle that says dailies, the nature of all gacha games, etc. Another guess is it’ll also be more about the memes and stigmas surrounding the game and its genre rather than the world of Teyvat and its characters. I also wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a sponsored project since Fontaine’s coming out really soon as well. Edit: I went back and watched the Amogus song again and this GI song is either farther along in production than we might think, or some people on the team are Genshin fans, as Klee does make an appearance in that music video. This only has me more excited.
I wasn't sure what to expect when this popped up in my recommendation feed, but I certainly didn't expect it to spit straight fire like this! I love it!
@@anondabomb Definitely not air guitar. The "Torture Dance" is a common meme from anime and manga JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, specifically the fifth part, named "Golden Wind". It's a super specific (and strange) dance that three of the main characters do to pass the time while they're torturing an enemy, and it's been parodied a LOT. Those funky moves? Unmistakably part of the Torture Dance.
The vibe this song gives off is that “bad things are always transient, and our anxieties make things seem much worse than they are. And we can always make things better.”
Even the war that scorches the land and turns brother against brother will pass. In the end, everything will pass- and so too will this storm. If no soldier will take up arms, a war cannot be fought. And so, the Civil War is ended- nothing more than a bad dream. Simply your imagination.
This comment may be very funny, but don’t let that distract you from the fact that Ulfric Stormcloak murdered the high king with his voice, shouted him apart!
A song that starts as a joke ends up as an embodiment of the element of wind: Freedom in both the physical and spiritual sense as well as always moving forward to find you own path. This is art.
This sounds strangely nostalgic.. like something pulled out from 2010.. The chorus in chant, guitar and somewhat odd sounding main vocalist.. it reminds of of things I've forgotten.. Must have been the wind.
Exactly how I felt listening to it as well. It almost feels like a sort of bitter sweet goodbye to the game. I’m sure ES 6 will be great when it finally releases, but nothing will recapture that magic of playing Skyrim for the first time as a young teen.
The fact this guard seemingly lived through the Oblivion Crisis and is doing this song during the Skyrim Civil war means this Guard is over 200 years old. Is he an Elf? Or just regular Immortal?
It's fascinating how frequently such little and not so important to song phrases in middle of a rhythmic cycle in various songs are actually very strong and good messages on their own.
So that went from a complete meme to... An unironically great song with an actual message behind the phrase, turning the dumb one-liner into an uplifting message of hope, brotherhood and holding up for better times that will eventually come Wow, how in hell...? *Adds to playlist*
It was an honour to be a storyboard artist for this masterpiece :D And the choir also sounds fire!!! Stunning vocals by Gabe, he never disappoints :D All artists did a splendid job! And the video compositing is also amazing! Congrats!!! This is so awesome!!!

"The winds will pass The kings will fall We should stay strong 'Cause life goes on" I got teary-eyed at how brilliant and relatable it is. For me this is a song clearly about the attitude to war and (if you will) to other horrors of life. Right now, something terrible is happening in the world because of crazy people. However, this song proves that everything will be fine in the end.
@@HespersQuest Amen to that! I'm not a believer in fate, but I AM a believer in optimism! If for no other reason than that hopelessness is miserable. Stay brave a strong, friends! ^.^
That kind of blind optimism is how bad things actually happen. It is better to assume the worst and prepare for it than to never prepare and assume everything will be alright. Things are never alright in the end unless you see it, recognize it, and fight it. Assuming it is 'just the wind' and ignoring it is how you end up in worse case scenarios. The song is more like a naive person being blind to reality. It is a good song, catchy, yet seeing it for how to relate to horrible things like war? You poor sweet summer child, you must not have faced true hell yet.
i had no idea this song is about a skyrim stealth mechanic before listening for it for over a year at this point. this is inspirational than most inspirational songs ong.
Ulfric and the Stormcloaks hold off the invasion of Solitude if you trigger the wedding from the Dark Brotherhood questline. He might not like the Empire, but he's not a partycrasher.
@@FamusJamus please tell me theres actual dialogue where ulfric is like "we're about to win this war and march on solitude, but we can't do that while there's a wedding going on i mean c'mon"

This brought tears to my eyes... It's just something about Stormcloaks and Imperials throwing down the weapons and jamming together to a great song essentially ending the war. Why it can't end like this in my home country... I am ukrainian. Sometimes I cry about stupidest things. Great song, Chalkeaters, as always.
This song makes me legitimately very happy and actually eases my anxiety. On the off chance the makers of this song actually see this comment. Thank you so much. I needed this song
Um Aktshually 🤓 But no for real, thats something called Air Guitar. Since the song is largely played using guitars a lot of people used to and still to this day do this where they pretend to play along cause it just feels right.
This whole thing just slaps! The lyrics, the music and the animation are all so well made and detailed. At 2:28 you can see that when the soldier grows up the feathers on his childhood helmet are hanging on his belt! The detail is insane!
Imagine Tullius and Ulfric coming to a peaceful agreement and ending the war simply because their armies collectively broke out into song thanks to one obliviously upbeat guard.
This music is amazing. At first, you think the music is about the ignorance of NPCs in a game, when in the end it's about something even greater. It's about keep moving forward. Most problems in life are like rocks you kick. It hurts, sure, but it won't be going anywhere. You can just keep complaining about it, kicking back at it and hurting yourself even more, or you can get your act together and move on, chase your dreams, live life. Seize the moment, travelers. It was just the wind. Thanks Chalkeaters for another great jam.
For a song thats supposed to be making fun of a 12 year old games stealth mechanics, its got some impressively deep and meaningful lines, like "We should stay strong because life goes on", Im awestruck at how incredible this song and the performance is.
This man is the True Master of The Way of the Voice. So great was he, that even the dragons respected him and shared in his wisdom as they shout to the heavens.

I hadn't realized just how much I needed a definitive good ending to Skyrim in the form of a song. Well played Chalkeaters, well played.
Weirdly from 2:20 to 2:44 is a really good message.
