Erik Noren has been custom building bicycles all of his life. He owns Peacock Groove Bicycles in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He can build Transporter bikes, Cargo Trike bikes, Road Race Bikes, Velodrome Racing Bikes, Mountain bikes, Beach Cruiser bikes and more!
In this video, Erik Noren shows you the steps in assembling a custom built fat tire mountain bike. He starts by sharing steps on mounting a tubeless fat tire onto a 24" HED Cycling rim. Then installs the gear cogs and disc brakes. Next, Erik prepares the Cake bike frame for the crank and sprocket. The custom made fat tire front fork and headset are next. Erik installs raceface handle bars and ESI racing hand grips. He uses a Shimano SLX derailer kit and blue cable lines to match the anodized blue raceface sprocket chain ring.

One of my Bucket List items was recording Erik Noren from Peacock Groove build one of his custom bicycles. He makes all of his frames and forks by hand. His bikes have won several awards and even stirred up controversy. He rides over mediocrity and loves challenging the industry with different ideas. While recently in his workshop, my eye caught an Orange Metal Flake Fat bike frame, “I want to record you building this bike!”
and he kindly obliged! Please share with any of your friends into Fat Tire or Custom Mountain bikes. This is the first time Erik has shared his assembly stage and it’s loaded with tips and he’s also hilarious!

Gorgeous bike, fantastic craftsmanship! I'm curious why why doesn't use much cutting oil or bearing grease when installing parts? I used to be a race mechanic and we had it pounded into us that we lubed or locktited everything. Interesting.

16:03 I recommend swapping these garbage plastic bar end plugs for something made of metal, I got RevGrips so they came with flat plug, so it's not sticking out much, but but other options are also possible, but I haven't sued Esi Grips Cus all I have used got too soft after about 4 weeks so I had to keep replacing them to not bottom my hand out on the handle bar. I have reviews of the products on my site.
the plastic bar end plugs can be ruined in one crash or even so damaged the bar gets damaged, they are useless.
