- First Impressions with VR in Mechwarrior 5. It is Epic))
This mod from Nexusmods is the best solution to play in VR. It feels and looks like it made not by modders, but developers. Quality on the next level. And I recommend to use openxr + openxr toolkit (CAS+Turbo mode) for UEVR.

I can imagine how cool it would be to play mechwarrior 6 in the way of DCS when you need to start up your cold mech
We finally waited for the indicators not on the HUD, but on the Mech's screens. A cold start would be very cool, but I think they won't go into that much detail. it would be nice, a few buttons with system tests and fails, It would already be immersive for MW/Battletech fans)
Man, I would love to play some more realistic/immersive take on Battletech. You know, realistic ballistics with proper long-distance engagements (no nonsense AC20 with a range of an average crossbow), correct mech scale (PGI is always making them way too big), combined arms, light mechs guiding missiles/artillery, etc.
@@osiris4457 PGI would rather IP ban you from their site for criticizing MWO or any of their games no matter how mild it is. I believe the rumors about them sending death threats to the MW Living Legends team and those modders had way more attention to detail. Allowing us to use powerarmor, jets, tanks, bombers, and more. True combined arms warfare
In the way of dcs, bvr weapons would take your dropship out before you get the chance to try

@@simtechrc You gonna tell us how to even use OpenXR + Openxr toolkit? Looks like SteamVR and the Oculus app already are OpenXR runtimes. I don't need to add another on top of that just to boot up into VR. Stop overcomplicating this shit.

If you use the uevr profile described in the mechwarrior vr mod from nexus then that is exactly how it works. And it's awesome.
I modded the game a lot after this video. About on par with my Raid Mission video. With graphic, gameplay and sound modifications. But in the most loaded scenes, the game still brings my old GTX1080 to its knees. This is all on the Rift S helmet, if anyone is interested) I think, after a number of tweaks and optimization of the settings, I will find the ideal visual and performance parameters.
What are you running for a PC? A gtx 1080? Thats what my uncle just gave me its just the sea hawk addition so it came with a factory AIO so I know that will run cool. as I literally bought a used gaming PC from a friend for 200 bucks and 100 for the monitor. For this game as vanilla has gotten stale on my series x. It came with a amd b450 proE motherboard 16 gb of ddr4 when i bought it it only had a gtx 1060 3gb in it (yes i know not the best). It has a ryzen 5 2600 that boosts to 3.9 ghz. So for 200 bucks I may only run at 1080p as thats what my monitor is I don’t think iv done to bad as I believe the game will run 1080p no problem possibly 1440p with a better monitor. Anyway the game looks so immersive with VR. Plus the cockpit showing the map your mechs health and your targets on the road right side it uad to feel like your in a giant stomping mech. If your playing with a joystick even better. Ive been told if you buy the flight simulator control system it’s awesome.
This is all on a regular gtx 1080?
@@aTOMbomb2077 yes, gtx1080, oculus rift s, right now 32gb ram, but - 16 enough, right now i5 12600, but something, like your cpu enough too. If you don't use vonbiomes - all plays perfectly. But with vonbiomes and some graphical mods (like warfx) - you need something, like 3080, I think. But it's not necessary. I plan to buy joystick, like Thrustmaster t.16000m bundle. And plan to upgrade videocard, because Microsoft Flight Simulator doesn't work good with 1080. Only because of this game))
Next level of immersion would be playing it in a sauna with a working rumbling diesel generator right beside you

My only issues with it is UEVR injection is generally poorly optimized. MW5 has always been a mess optimization wise but the two combined will eat up a insane amount of VRAM.

If it works with VR I would imagine it works with something like Tobi Eye Tracker too? What about HOSAS for controls? I haven't gotten Mechwarrior 5 yet. Played Mechwarrior 2 on Windows 95 and Mechwarrior 4 on Windows XP back in the day though.
HOTAS+pedals 100% works with. About HOSAS, I think it works too. Are you from SC?)) About trackers I'm not sure, but interested in triple screen (like in sim racing)
@@simtechrc SC backer since 2014. I don't have eye tracking or sticks yet, but they are planned. Have to upgrade my desk first, then eye tracking, then sticks. My PC has been on a Lifetime brand table since 2014. Was looking for something cheap and short term back then, but it was "good enough" that I never moved on. That table won't be good enough to mount sticks on though. Upgraded my PC to AM5 a month or two after it came out. Upgraded my monitor to 3440x1440 in early 2023.
@@The_Opinion_of_Matt I am with SC from 2017 if I dont confuse. But laat 2 years didnt play. Small pause stretched because of Mechwarrior and not only that. That's why I had HOSAS and understand your interest in this for MW5. For good monitor, like for vr, you need good video card. I recommend smthn from Nvidia. Because heard about some unexpected performance problems with AMD cards using VR.
I've tried both the VRwarrior mod and also the UEVR.
It might be my old RiftS, bit grafics go down so much, that it's not looking great.
How did you get it to look so good?

Looks great but the AI is still mediocre at best.
Take the Griffin - LRMs, PPC, faster and has jump jets. Yet it closes with this Orion...
The REAL question: Does this work with VR controllers? I know UE4 has support for that.
Probably you could make it work with that, but you most likely want HOTAS. Personally think even M&B will work better than move controllers
Well, I wanted to try it. Until they fix the "Virus detected" Problem, (UEVR..zip)I'm not going to fool with it. I just don't have time to make it work. Le sigh...

I can not believe how it is possible how todays companies can make money on releasing unfinished games wich are finished by modders who don't even get payed a dime by the studios.
Whats wrong with this industry?
It would be so easy for PGI to build a diagetic UI like this and give the player the choice of helmet hud or cockpit Ui. Project Wingman did it with a team of 3. I've done it in Unity, it's not hard. It's been a long time, but I believe Hawken had parts of the UI that were diagetic. You've even got a second screen there for the local radar and level map. I have an idea about how complex it would be for the modder to separate the two, not judging the person who made it. Small things like this build up over time, pointing to PGI just being lasy, and it ruined MW5 for me over time to the point I started working my own mech game.
