"JFK spoke to Colm!? Christ, that man didn't have much luck, did he?"
Definitely one of his best lines
When it comes to Colm, its every man for himself 😂
“STOP LISTING PRESIDENTS, COLM!”
😂
Gerry is such a good contrast with all the crazies. He's the only normal one in the lot.
Erin & James are normal.
Gerry and James are “normal” coz they’re not from Derry. They see things as the rest of the world outside Derry sees it. I have family I Derry, I love them dearly and I go over whenever I can. It’s like their own wee world, everything that goes on in Derry Girls is true, only it’s ever so slightly exaggerated, but yeah it’s pretty real
Sometimes you have to feel sorry for the guy
In every Celtic family there is one well adjusted man surrounded by crazies and slowly doubting his own sanity. Tis just the culture. It keeps life interesting at least I will say
The good man is from Cork isn't he? That explains his logical Munster kind of thinking!
Gerry deserves a knighthood for putting up with a dad-in-law like Joe
And sister in law like Sarah lol
@@michaelcollins2030but at least she wasn’t aggressive, she was just delusional and weird lmao
"Jaws made you want to take up surfing?" is such an underrated line.
And he called it a musical 😂😂😂😂
The delivery of, “STOP LISTING PRESIDENTS, COLM!!!!”😂
it's very clever that the two characters who often don't understand what's going on and try to bring sense, gerry and james, are the two that aren't from derry
Priest Peter was kind of crazy in his first appearance but he does turn into the straight man as well as another person outside of Derry ;)
“WHERE ARE ME SCALLIONS” is probably one of my favourite Gerry moments it’s brilliant
"Jim across the road" has two of everything.
I love how Gerry reacted when Ma Mary said she wasn't sure she should go to college.
gerry is an absolute hero. its a pure miracle he didnt lose his mind more often lmaoo
"Are you talking about Jaws? Jaws made you want to take up surfing?!"
🤣
Gerry being sarcastic about the Polar bear knocking on the door is one of my favourite Gerry moments
Gerry deserves a Sainthood for managing to take all of the barbs at his expense in stride. I reckon that should Erin and James get married, he'd be the complete opposite of Joe towards James!
We'll never know. I'm baffled at the writer's decision to leave the lives of all the main characters uncertain. Their qualifications are unstated. Their occupations, love lives etc. didn't even get started.
@@andrewjones575 That's true, it did feel a little rushed, but who knows? Maybe the cast will reunite for a one off special, showing the gang in the future.
@@andrewjones575 The story was never about their occupations, love lives etc. It was about growing up in the Troubles and this was the end of it.
@@04williamsl Love lives are a part of most people's teen years. If they weren't going to cover it, why have characters being attracted to each other? Why have Erin & James kiss once?
@@andrewjones575 Why have them decide to not go any further with it? Because it's not a part of the main plot, which is growing up during the troubles.
I love Gerry!! And that Australian accent IS flawless
It was actually quite good
Flawless!
Just him going off on all of them was brilliant
I know this is Gerry appreciation, but I've never laughed harder than when Joe was trying to describe Jaws as "that film with thon big fish!"
“You don’t have the breadstick, Gerry!” received the usually-excellent delivery from Colm, but let’s just take a moment to acknowledge how great that line is in context 🙌🏻
Gerry’s Aussie accent is bloody flawless 😂
"Ah! Himself as well is it?" 😂
I love how the show foreshadows James and Erin- Gerry being treated badly by everyone just like James is. I can see James being Erin's husband and getting the same treatment.
At least Gerry will treat him kindly
Gerrymandering and James are the 2 character with the most patience in the world to put up with the whole lot of them lol
The musical fish!!! LMAO!!!! Hahahahaha
Gerry gives such Bob from Bob's Burgers. The caring dad who is the sanest in the family and is horrified at the other members.
"who put 50p on the eejit?" is still a killer.
3:51. Hold up. Is that....does she have a cup of tea in the cinema?
“YOU’RE A CONMAN… KEVIN!”
I love Jerry's exasperated and almost innocent sense of humor 😂😂. It reminds me of my own father.
Why does the law of diminishing returns of comedy not apply to Derry Girls? Every line is as funny the 1st time as it is the 20th time you hear it.
Lord Varys as the fraud psychic was brill
Why does no-one ever defend Gerry when Joe picks on him?
I have no idea, it's probably the Irish "Tough Love", in that they need someone to be the butt of all jokes. Still doesn't really explain why nobody, especially Mary, ever tells Joe to stop heckling Gerry when he's done nothing to warrant it.
@@trinaq she does defend him one time though. But yeah most of the time poor Gerry is alone, though he's intelligent enough not to pity himself.
Ah sure he's well able.
Cuz it is funny that way.
@@ericbana191 When is that one time?
Tommy Tiernan’s acting stands out beyond the weeuns.
They should've included the confrontation over Mary's supposed affair with Gabriel.
You forgot the part where Gerry goes on a rant about meeting his mistress with his father-in-law is doing the big shop.
Gerry’s character is as close to sane as this show gets.
I had the absolute pleasure of seeing Tommy Tiernan live last week. He is a total legend!
It's a shame they ended such a solid and niche show. Deserves more seasons if the writer was willing.
Edit: oh and Barristan Selmy and Lord Varys retired in Derry, Varys somehow escaping death. It was prob his clone.
Lisa McGee said she’s done with Derry girls.
Yes, the characters' lives are very uncertain. We don't know what qualifications they received, they haven't started their love lives, we don't know if any go to university or want to, nor what occupations they aim to have.
@@4jeanjs But at the same time she did say that she was potentially open for some spin-offs of the parents or a film.
@@andrewjones575 I'm pretty sure Michelle has started her "love" life lol.
@@patpat8727 She's the only one of the main 5 characters who has, yet we don't see any of it. All we have is her occasional mentions of it.
Gerry is what we call a nebbish...kind of a loser, entirely due to the perceptions of his friends and family. He's like Jerry on Parks and Rec...the viewer sees the characters as kind, solid, tender hearted, but the in universe characters see them as trials, inappropriate, dim and wholly exasperating.
I always laugh out loud during his scenes - he's just so unhinged, we can't help but stan 🤣🤣 he says one thing wrong and Joe immediately tells Mary to divorce him, I just can't 🤌🏻
“AND IM TAKING the Kimberly’s”
Gerry was the only completely sane character in the whole series!
Father Dougal MacGuire is always good to see
1:56 I don’t remember this episode of the bear
Jim-Across-the-Road has TRANQUILIZER GUNS?!
His brother had an awful lot of bother with devil worshippers
Your a swan expert 😂😂😂😂😂
I love how Gerry and Tommy Tiernan are entirely different
I love Gerry. I think GJ is too harsh with him. Gerry is like the only sane one out of the lot
Every family needs a Gerry. Though to be fair they all need a Joe too 😁
He was too rational for his own good
3:42 is that Orla tryin to put her shoes on??
Yes
I love this show
Here i thot Gerry is going to be the one died fr Aneurysm
Feck the breadstick!!!!
Super script and acting.
How the hell did auto-generated captions mistake 'him or us' for 'hemorroids'? 1:08
Chej Jerry Gordon
Really bothers me and grates on me how that father constantly demeans and insults his son-in-law.
@TommyTiernan
