Did you have a teacher like Mr Gilbert?!
Watch EVERY EPISODE on All 4: bit.ly/2G0LlTH
Yes a couple 🤣
E4 #BringBackThisShow
I had a teacher in pre-school who was like Nurse Ratched from OFOTCN. She was a right hypocritical bitch XD
Yes. Bring it back with, Same sixth form but different students
I had a couple of teachers who were like him
God he played this role so well 😂
It's because he was an actual teacher before acting
Role. Melt.
*role. Christ, who wrote this?
About time I edit this. Cheers.
Agreed
The fact Greg was a teacher before becoming an actor really did help
Like the Sargent from full metal jacket
@@ht8083 I think Gilbert might be more terrifying than Sgt. Hartman.
@@clinteldorado Hartman got shot by his own recruit unlike Gilbert 🔫
And is quite worrying
Why do I feel that he was exactly the same when he was an actual teacher?
Thanks for that Phil

mr Gilbert....
infinityblast say thank you
Thank you
His delivery of "you're a virgin aren't you Mackenzie?" is perfect 🤣
"Any rubbish bin you see in or *indeed* out of the school" lmao gets me every time
So good
Lmao my sister and her husband are both teachers, so I can imagine either of them using this line on any of their students 😂
"If Sullivan's managed to pass his genes, it may be a looming disaster for mankind but it's not my mess to clean up"
Sutherland*
@@FluxBrawlStars You right
I was gonna say.
He actually has a point in this case. If it didn't happen on school grounds then there really isn't anything that Gilbert can do about it.
@@FluxBrawlStars *Sunderland...

Sometimes 😂😂
I could watch this show an oddly amount of times
Unless you're a gen z type that gets offended by everything 😂

We all do... Until it's too late.
sorry.. Phil?
@@kdburner7356 well I thought since the event was out of school time so..
@@kiwi468 Well you assumed wrong... VERY WRONG!
Best line hands down
"There is nothing funny about testicles, Cooper, as you'll discover tomorrow in my office."
How can they have a video called _Mr Gilbert's Funniest Moments_ and not include that little gem?
True
"That sounds a bit weird, sir."
"No it does not."
And him laughing at will being thrown in pond. Maybe they'll be in "part 2 " lol
Pretty much his best
Every second he's on screen is his best and funniest moments.
I was one of Greg Davies' English pupils. He was exactly like this but... nicer. 😅
What school
Wasn’t he a drama teacher though?
@Mr Goat English and Drama are connected
@@isaacthegoat1432 Are they? My English classes had nothing to do with my drama classes. Ive never heard drama class mixing with English class, especially in GCSE.
@@Brandon_J English teachers tend to teach drama too
Absolutely bloody terrifying to think that Greg Davies actually WAS a teacher before the inbetweeners. Imagine how his real life students felt like watching this lol
Well half of them would not be abled to hear the telly. He worked at a school with kids with hearing hardships
@@corriedebeer799 That's not true. He worked at a mostly normal school, that just happened to have a good hearing impaired department for *some* students. Most of Greg Davies pupils probably can hear fine.
It sounds like they liked him, while fully accepting that he wasn't a very good teacher. Also, have people not heard of subtitles?
How does hearing relate to their enjoyment. Just a little prejudiced! I’m sure they enjoyed it notwithstanding.
@@pcbassoon3892no but they’ve read about them 😂
E4 really want this show back...
@Zcode223 Ooh, that sounds cool. 👌👌
Sorry to disappoint you but it wasnt an episode, it was a talk show with flashbacks to the old episodes
Naaa it was definitely shit lol
@@scottfillingham7620 yes it was shite

The spectacular pettiness of Gilbert is glorious 😂😂😂
I can't imagine calling any of my teachers by their first names, even after graduating 15 years ago.
bahmat I know, it just feels wrong
Only teacher I call by his first name is my humanities teacher because he’s an utter twat
Lone Wolf animations sorry hard man
What about college teachers?
I'm from Denmark and I didn't when I was in school and still don't know any of my teachers last names. We just use first names here.
His delivery is spot on in every scene, brilliant 😂
"You can if you like, but I won't be there." 😂😂😂
"Any bin. Any rubbish bin at all.... and it'll get to me." ^_^

Goodbye McKenzie. 😈
'thanks Phil' kills me every time 😂
Greg Davies' acting range is incredible. anyone who has seen Man Down will know what I mean
Definitely, he’s also fantastic in cuckoo. Watching him on taskmaster is also fab!
I loved him in Godzilla back in the 50s
Acting range is incredible
From playing an angry teacher in inbetweeners to playing an angry teacher in man down
Considering a lot of his material is based on his days as a teacher. I love what I've seen, and Man Down is pretty funny :)
I can't find where to watch that any where.
‘If things go well, you could end up calling me daddy’ the way he delivers that line is hilarious
“Hello the university of Lincoln” Love it. As a former student of Uni of Lincoln, I can confirm this to be spot on 😅
Likewise xD
You poor lamb. Did you end-up in teaching?
@@TheCatBilbo or prison?
Nope. Nursing
@@victoriaparkinson3720 Lincoln or Pilgrim?
"I don't get paid extra for this."
I use that line alot.
The more I think about it the more I realise that Mr.Gilbert is the most relatable television character in history
I love how he looks at will with contempt even though he laughed at his joke.
"Maybe you could set me up with her and then...who knows? If things go well you could end up calling me Daddy." 😂
Clever
Will's mom might end up calling him Daddy too...
This quote is so much better if you've seen The inbetweeners 2
Fast forward a few years and Alex Horne does call him that.... and he hates it.

The way he says "no" after will asks about work experience is hilarious
He was a teacher in real life wasn’t he? He’s perfect for the role. I love this series.
“Hello university of Lincoln” 😂. I lost it at that.
Greg's contribution to this series was outstanding it's no wonder he's become a nation treasure....Sorry I meant Mr Davies 😂

Mr Gilbert… he's the hero we all needed 😂
Yeah
But the one we never wanted.
The actor who played mr Gilbert greg davies was a former teacher. He said mr Gilbert said the stuff he wasnt allowed say
Very cool
"[Mr Davies] is a well good laugh, and he don't make us do no work".
Kids: What're we doing today, Sir?
Mr Davies: Make up a play, see you in an hour.
Everyone knows who Greg Davies is mouse and everyone is familiar with his background as a teacher captain obvious... remember to wear your helmet when you go outside to play with your imaginary friend
And the reason why he was not allowed to say these things because he worked with disabled kids.
They missed the scene when Jay shouts GILBERT in the shopping centre and gives him and Neil a detention

Most real teacher in fiction.
Probably because the actor, Greg Davies, was a real teacher before getting cast.

I'm so sad this era of my life is over. Such a relatable programme.
I like to think Greg Davies wrote this character as every he wished could say and do as a teacher
Apparently he played as how he would've taught if getting fired was impossible.
"Good Morning, and shut up."
I'm using that one.

Hazza do you mean Will instead of Jay
Mr Gilbert: No heavy hitting and ill be the judge of that
Jay: Pervert
Mr Gilbert: i heard that!
😂😂
ZIEK GAMER He says petting not hitting.
Wrong
Wrong
Used to have no heavy petting on signs at swimming pools along with the obvious no diving, running , smoking etc
8:20 to 8:43 is the funniest thing Mr Gilbert has ever said 😂😂
You could end calling me daddy
C8W the only thing that compares is what he says to Simon after the fashion show
the way mr gilbert turns around when he first says Phil is the reason i live
Greg Davis played this role down to the bone
Greg Davies playing Gilbert is like R. Lee Ermey playing Hartman in Full Metal Jacket cause of their previous jobs 😂
Full Metal Jacket.... Classic!!
“Any bin”
I find 8:20 even more hilarious since it’s revealed in the second film that Mr Gilbert is in fact going steady with McKenzie’s mother.😂
Nobody else should ever be given the right to play Mr Gilbert because no-one else will ever live up to Greg Davies in the role
American version had Gilbert and they ruined him, the grass scene just has him walk in and straight back out
I love the way he says 'shut up?' like it's a question rather than a demand
I love how he just uses him for whatever he deems worthy…
He played this so well cause he was actually a teacher so it came naturally to him
Gilbert was one of the best characters on this show!
What a glowing endorsement of the teaching profession... "not so much a calling these days as a graveyard for the unlucky and unambitious" haha
4:28 is such a great line

But, hahahahahahHa
_“This is a school dance, and not the last days of Rome!”_

Mr Gilbert is the best character on the show besides the Inbetweeners.
Jay's Dad was hilarious too
I thought this was quite a common, normal educational experience. Brought back happy memories.

His quiet authoritative voice is what kickstarted my crush on Greg Davies a decade ago. It's still going strong.
Wish I had a teacher like Mr. Gilbert back in high school
I have a teacher like Gilbert
The actor was actually a teacher before getting cast, so there are some people out there who genuinely had him as their teacher.
So basically all his moments 😂
Mr Gilbert is brutal 😂
My god I love him 😂❤️
Say thank you
Anthony Taylor thank you?
Then u can call him Daddy
The Inbetweeners and Mr. Gilbert in particular is a great example of how British humour is not like American humour. I'm not knocking American humour, there's a lot of American comedy I like, but whereas American humour might stick the knife in, British humour will stick the knife in and then turn it. Gilbert is great at that. I think some times it might have something to do with painting a bleak picture and then making it bleaker still. No, there is no hope, whereas with American sensibility, there always has to be hope somewhere.
@Nathan Take it from me, it's about the only thing we like about ourselves.
Does anyone think that his relationship with Will is now him and Alex in Taskmaster 🤣
well... canonically Gilbert is Will's stepfather to be.
so yeah, that's rather accurate. Although, it would remain to ever be seen if Gilbert ever softened up to Will and be a proper dad or whether he will always loathe him. I personally think he'll always hate will XD
"Just make sure it's not a dirty protest like the last one" had me in stitches
Morning...and shut up! 😂 😂
2:46 Frank lampard when Mason Mount said ‘see you at training’
Little did we know that Greg Davies-as-Gilbert was only warming up for Task Master.
Haha mercilessly Mr-Gilberting James Acaster :D
literally any scene hes in is funny
"Any bin. Any rubbish bin you see in, or indeed, out of the school, just pop all of your thoughts into a rubbish bin and they'll get to me."
I love that he knows "Phil," will get his attention. So rad.
Will and Phil, best buddies for life! Ooh, friend!
Even better technically their father and son
Thanks for the highlights phil
Comedy Gold! That gets me every time.
“And then you can call me step daddy”- I love how that comes true in inbetweeners 2 lol
The exam scene hilarious 😂😂

Sean Edwards nah, they have him the perfect amount, any less he’d have been underused but much more and he’d have been overused

@@connor4435 I think you're right. Every one of his scenes is brilliant... but don't overuse a good thing.
Would've been cool if there was a spinoff where Gilbert is the main character following the events of the end of the the second movie
He is such a brilliant actor! Soooo tall & handsome too!
Honestly I have a teacher that is similar to Mr Gilbert and he is also amazing
If it weren't for Mr Gilbert, Simon and Will wouldn't be friends.
