It’s so funny how Clare’s parents are convinced she’s some sort of criminal when she’s the best behaved out of the group
I was looking for this comment😂
She's THE VOICE of reason!!!
Her ma said she's basically a delinquent 😂
AND she's a snitch.
She just like me fr fr
i love it when clare's dad said "oh, killing nuns now, is it?" it was hilarious for me
"Wait till your mother hears about this." 😂
@@mezzogal obv clare mom was the bad cop parent lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Excellent writing and delivery
It was hilarious for everyone.
the flashback 1977 episode where all the ma's are exactly like the girls is just brilliant. so well cast and acted, the apple don't fall far, etc
Definitely should have a spin off of the girls mom's when they were younger
Which episode is it?
Gerry's smile and laugh at the end, knowing that he had the proof but was never going to give it to the Mas is the best!
The tragedy of Derry Girls is that Erin doesnt know Gerry isnt totally in the pocket of Ma
@@dylankennedy4539 No teenagers ever do, that's the beauty of life - as time passes you see it all in a different way :)
A true loving dad 🤣 just what I would do ha ha
Dad’s do that all the time, problem is if you get found out as well, been there 😄
Only seens clips of the show, but that scene is so heartwarming. Love his smile and laugh.
I love the parents are really strict and the ultimate authority when around their kids but then when they're around other adults they turn in the adult versions of the Derry Girls.
And towards the end of the show, we see that when the mothers were teenagers, they were carbon copies of their future daughters.
Exactly
“Struck down in her prime”🤣🤣
“Killing nuns now is it?!”
Will never not get a chuckle out of me
"Then why were you pissing on her dead body and making sandwiches?" is the one that gets me.😂
I love Erin's facial expressions! Her trying to get them to realize that Sister Declan being almost 98 was probably a key fact to her death, and them not listening, is great!!!
Struck her at her prime 😂😂😂
I love her expression when orlas reading her diary she goes mad iam going to shove that right up your
Struck down in ‘er prime
The funniest to me is that sister Michel is probably just trying to have some "fun" with the situation. Its just like her to me
"without me?"
"ugh dry your eyes james"
unexpectedly took me out 💀
"Well why in under God weren't you writin' from the soul?" 😂
With Yeats nodding agreement from the grave.....
Such a mom thing to say!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@JamieLizRN i love her delivery of it so much! I could watch her and Erin volley that back and forth on a loop 🤣
🤣🤣🤣
"Does anybody else have any thoughts on the whole her being almost 98 years of age thing?"
"Struck down in her prime!" XD
😂😂😂😂
I like how Grandad Joe is so much more respectful to the wee English fella than to any of the other men (apart from Jim, perhaps).
besides thinking he's gay or a potential r*pist XD every guy gets his own from Grandpa Joe
“I couldn’t get over the bridge…..this bloody bomb. I begged the Brits to let me take my chances, but the awkward bastards made me go the long way.” 😂😂😂😂
Health and safety gone mad😂
I'm British and ex army made me laugh
"do not speak to me clare, in fact don't even breathe" 😂 it gets me everytime
*Holds her breath*.
I just love how all the characters are well rounded and everyone just knows exactly what to do with their lines. Makes every episode feel, I don't know, really substantial and meaty.
Intriguing choice of words but very true
@@Paraves426 jajajaj
'They say that all teenagers are rebellious but Clare's off the scale. She's basically a delinquent!'
Well if it isn't my mum talking about me during my teen years because I'd got a second ear piercing without permission! 😆
Ehh?? For a piercing?? Even babies have piercing. Your ma is very strict hahahaha
@@9825xTreasure I keep telling her this but she doesn't agree! 😂 I'm in my 40s now so she's lost her powers... mostly!
@@vixa8473 oh my goodness 😭 I guess I'll try to understand your parent's p.o.v hahahaha
I wasn't allowed to get my ears pierced until after I was 18. Apparently it was "fast".
1:32 “Oh killing Nuns now is it?” I couldn’t stop laughing when he said that, the expression in his face was superb 😂
“I didn’t Daddy!”
Aunt Sarah - "Then why were you pissing on her dead body and making sandwiches!?" I actually visualized that in my mind for a moment! 😅🤣🤣🤣🤣 Nope, NOBODY CAN TRUMP THAT!
“Gerry. Pass me the wooden spoon.”
Words that scare the shite out of any Irish kid
I imagine the same as a Mexican mom reaching for the Chancla! lol
With Filipinos fearing the belt and sandals 🩴
The Indian mom reaching for the rolling pin.
Yep 'fetch me the belt' Jamaican kids be scared as hell
My parents are quite young so were never into the wooden spoon, but one friend wasn’t so lucky and got chased round the garden with it. Never let him forget it 😂
The parents were casted so well!
All the roles were excellently casted…from Colm to Sister Michael…not a bad actor in the bunch…
In the 1st season I considered the adults reactions as typical over the top parents. Now after 3 seasons I see the parents as reasonably exasperated at their antics. They set an apartment on fire, stole a bulletin board, beat up protestant boys, broke into the school, ran away to a concert, and broke into a man's house. By all means they have the patience of saints.
"December is only around the corner". Joe. "8 months love" 😂
Love how Gerry sees the girls on TV and says nothing to his wife. He's laughing probably thinking 'I'm glad they're having a good time. It's so funny how their mums haven't noticed.'
I was looking for this 😂 I loved that he just laughed and didn't say anything 💜 such a sweet dad moment
I can't believe Claire's ma thinks she's a delinquent 🤣🤣🤣
I love that there's a baby in this sit-com. I can just imagine the writer thinking, 'Let's have a Baby in this family. Let's put him/her in every scene possible." A stroke of genius. :)
Her, her name is Anna ;)
'I'll spin you across that floor, get your blazer on'
One of my fave lines from Mary
Sister Declan’s death was hilarious lol 😂
The parents are hilarious, they definitely remind me of my own folks, and tend to get some of the best lines!
“Jerry, pass me the wooden spoon”
Something my Irish parents would threaten me with 😂
My Indian parents would use a rolling pin or a sandal 😂
@@lifeofabronovich7792 What ever is closest to grab usually 😂
@@lotusvfx come to think of it, I think my mom has pulled a wooden spoon a few times when she is cooking 😂

it's always so cute when the babies spot the boom mic
Sister Michael in a karate outfit has to be the funniest thing of the series
and when she told the priest to hurry up with the sermon as raw hide is on in 10 mins and series three ep when her sister died and she turns up to her house in a delorean car made down the rd in belfast
Na when the when the girls accidentally help hands robbed the school on season three was funny and Liam Neeson is in season three
it's judo!
Sister Michael in the Dolorian. 👍
“Then, why were you pissing on her dead body, and making sandwiches?” 😂
Never get over when she tells her she'll spin her across that floor lol
''oh killing nuns now is it!!??'' that line cracks me up every single time!!! lol!
Everybody got questions but gramps say nothing til we see a lawyer
truth be told i dont know the first thing about acting, but i would say that the cast here is just beyond excellent.
Yes - they are terrific actors. And their ability to plays a variety of roles (as evidenced by the different characters I’ve seen the cast play - eg Dylan Llewelyn’s role in Big Boys, Nicola Coughlan’s role in Bridgeton) really highlight what top-drawer actors they are.
I love it when aunt Sarah says he looks better like that even though his head is upside down that’s what makes Derry girls so funny
Orla's spaci-ness comes from somewhere
Exactly how my family is in north Wales - the family dynamic of this show translates to different cultures so well!
I'm from Germany and I can still relate so much... "Parents" really are what unites us all xDDD
Claire's facial expressions are hilarious! 😆
"Gerry, pass me the wooden spoon" gets me every time! ah yes childhood memories that stay with you😂
Sensitive people be calling child services for that.
I didnt have JUST the wooden spoon. I had shoes, rulers, more spoons, a rolling pin, etc.
Oh and also locked in the bathroom cause i couldnt spell the word "jacket" as a 9 year old
@@betatest5789 that is brutal. in my case I will say I deserved , it takes years to get over being abused, I sincerely hope you are managing to deal with it
@@keithbraham6438 oh yeah i dealt with it a long time ago. My mom and I have a normal relationship now. Some might see it as traumatising, I see it as something that made me who I am today. Claire’s parents are brilliant
"Be reasonable sister, we didn't behead the fella"
"If you'd worn the bloody hearing aide I paid a fortune for you wouldda heard what she said!" I felt better for Claire at that moment because as it turned out, he was wearing the "deaf in one ear" thing as a social crutch, and it caused problems before so his parents tried to resolve it but he was too stubborn to stick it in. Probably was getting bullied for wearing it though.
dry your eyes james always gets me 😂😂😂
Lol, Diedre was so cold! He had to find out his mum dumped him in Derry with his Auntie from his Auntie after she already left and he was in trouble at school and Michelle had made it her mission to make him miserable. 🤯
9:41 you can see Jamie Lee O’Donnell (Michelle) trying her best not to laugh!
😂😂
It's kind of in character for her I think!
Went to Catholic school starting in the 50s in the US with a tough Irish Immigrant mother. The nuns were always right and every day was doing your best not to get into trouble. Terrifying but you learned survival. This is great comedy. The Irish Catholic Gulag.
Did the film Brooklyn with Saoirse Ronan speak to you?
"theres still a good chance that he's a r&pist" brilliant.

The “Wooden Spoon”

As an Australian..I never knew Home & Away was a world wide show 😂
Not worldwide but Home & Away and Neighbours were very popular in the UK, particularly in the 90s. I’m originally from Belfast and used to watch them daily as a teen throughout the 90s. I believe Neighbours was on BBC1 or 2 and Home & Away was on ITV (Channel 3). They’ve since changed channels so I’m not sure how popular they are nowadays.
H&A and Neighbours were *massive* in the UK in the 80s and 90s, especially with teenage girls! In my class of 30 at school there might be 2 who didn't watch them.
I live in the UK & we were obsessed with Home & Away, Neighbours & Heartbreak High in the 90s.

Aghhhh I miss Derry girls 😫😫
We still don't know who James or Orla's fathers are, nor where they are.
True, it's implied that James' dad was a random guy from Derry Kathy met prior to emigrating to England. It's mentioned that James has a loving ex stepdad. As for Orla, her possible dad has never been mentioned, though he's possibly dead, since Sarah doesn't seem like the sort to sleep around.
James' dad is Bill Clinton
@@trinaq We don't know what Sarah was like many years eariler. It's far more likely that Orla's parents split up. If her father were dead he'd likely be fondly remembered, yet he's never spoken of.

Sympathies to all at C4 with news of the Tories latest cultural vandalism. The government are a disgrace and we are sleep walking into ignorance.
@Sutty The British Government want to “privatize” (I.e. remove funding for) the channel that shows Derry Girls in the UK. The fact that their news room is critical of the government is entirely coincidental, I’m sure.
@Joe why not? Most people didn’t even know C4 was owned by the government. Some people didn’t even know that it didn’t cost the government a penny as it gets it’s revenue from advertising. That includes Nadine Dorries whose department had responsibility for it. I would agree with you if the government used its stake holding to make a partisan point or control the people such as in places like Russia or North Korea but so far in the west I would think we are safe so you don’t have to shit your knickers.
@Joe interfere in the market? Admit it you’re just repeating something you’ve heard from somewhere else.
@Joe well thanks for the clarification. I wonder then who do you think should be responsible for everything else like national strategy on housing, the economy, health, education etc. I’m sure you’re committed to the mantra of let the market decide. Open your eyes and see what the market has done to our communities.
@Joe it’s ok I just looked up minachist on Wikipedia it says you’re a knob
