I removed my SI Joint pain via two methods: First: Gunn IMS Dry Needling along the spine (specifically the muscles along the spine that were clenched). Second: After being referred to a bio-mechanical specialist, who first tested the forces on my feet via a Pressure Plate Analysis (to see the differences across my two feet as I walked on it) followed by a visual observation on a tread mill; a 3mm shim was added to my left shoe inside over its heal, which was later upgraded to a 5mm shim, and then eventually later built into some new orthotics. The shim kept my hips level, and the Gunn IMS Dry Needling kept my muscles free to work. Prior to all this, I had developed arthritis in my left foot's big toe with the occasional shooting pain, plus pain in my right hip during long walks. The hip pain went away after both the shim and the Gunn IMS Dry Needling. The joint mobility in my left foot's big toe is still limited, partly due to the arthritis and partly due to some clenching of the muscles in my feet, but its inflammation appears to be gone, as I don't get the occasional shooting pain there now anymore, and am now free to do my activities. Likely, the SI joint pain was due to having one leg shorter than the other, by 5mm, causing the hips to no longer be level, which over time caused the above issues. Because I didn't discover all this until my late 30s, my SI Joint mobility is now different from the left to right hip, but as long as I wear my shoes with the shim (most of the time) in my left foot's shoe, the hips stay level, and the pain stays away. I occasionally get a Gunn IMS tune up too. It took quite a few specialists to eventually discover all this. For example, both a Chiropractor and an Osteopath visually assessed my leg length while lying down with bent knees, and both concluded that my legs were the same length. The bio-mechanical specialist didn't do this, but instead used computer imagery, via the Pressure Plate Analysis, plus the visual assessment of how level my hips were, during a weight bearing scenario (i.e. standing up and walking on a tread mill; not lying down with bent knees), to conclude the imbalance. To truly discover if any of your bones have different lengths, you'd need to do an x-ray called a Scanogram, which I've not yet done.

One of the main causes of sij pain or discomfort comes from BAD posture. As a yoga teacher for the last 35 years I have helped people sit on their ischial tuberosities, tilt the pelvis forward, restrain from placing their back on the chair, and most importantly, avoid crowding their thighs. Most people don’t manage their structure and alignment and the sijoints rely on these basics. Hope this helps 😊

I’ve lived my entire adult life getting acute back pain flare ups. I’ve also always had chronic aching in my pelvis and legs but just ignored it as daily aches and pains. I also get the pain shooting into the buttock if I move the wrong way. I always thought it was how I was moving my back or it was just a remaining ache from the last flare up. it wasn’t. It’s when I move my pelvis in the wrong way which is causing the problem. Some days my movement is so limited due to being in complete agony if I move in the wrong way! I shall be heading back to the dr to examine for possible arthritis in the si joints as my symptoms are so similar! Thanks for this video.

Thank you doctor, my physical therapist believes the persistent pain in my lower left back is coming from my SI joint and surrounding ligaments. I have had this pain for many years and have had multiple procedures done to my spine including, spinal fusion and injections to my spine and hip. I am now disabled and so frustrated that none of my doctors will investigate this as a possible source of my pain. I am sure this is the situation of many people who suffer from this type of pain.

I totally understand. I've been in chronic pain for 12 years but the past year has been so chronic that it feels like my back is broken way down low. I repeatedly told my doctor this and she ordered an MRI of my lower back as I've had MRIs previously of this lower back as well. MRI showed that I have degeneration of my discs and narrowing but no pinching nerves. Not once did they mention this could be a SI joint problem. My friend is the one who taught me about the sacroiliac joints so at my last MRI which was recent I went to see a back specialist and they explained to me there is no surgery options and that I have degenerate disc disease without any pinched nerves. I started to cry because I explained to her it feels like my back is broken and all she could say was I understand. She never mentioned this could possibly be SI joint problems. Learning from my friend I brought it up and she said yeah it could possibly be so I went to see a pain management where they injected steroid shots which didn't help so then they did two temporary nerve block shots. The first one helped for about 3 hours the second one if any one hour. This was enough to satisfy pain management to go ahead and do a permanent nerve block. After all these shots which are a lot I now have pain to the touch there and still suffering with chronic pain in my SI joint. It's like my nerves have been inflamed there ever since which is only a problem to the touch but extreme pain throughout the day after being on my feet for only 30 minutes to an hour. I'm writing this comment because I'd like to know what is wrong with today's doctors? How does it take a friend to tell me it's my SI joint before my doctor can ever say it? I don't know what my next steps will be. I cannot carry anything on my right side not even my purse as it gives me excruciating pain. I'm sorry that you are going through this as well. I would like to know if they have done an MRI on your actual SI joints because they have not offered that to me. I pray that we both get better soon but with today's doctors I don't have much hope

@@italiangirl2440 hi...I suffer from herniated disc pinching my nerves and sacroiliitis. I would say an mri spine would be the most likely treatment which could show early sacroiliitis. Mine was shown in an mri after numerous Investigations and doc consultations. If you think it is sacroiliits, get an mri of your spine and go to rheumatologist.

Was in a bad car accident back in 2003. It messed up my lower back and neck. Now that I'm older this is what I'm dealing with, and something going on with my tail bone. I also have a old torn acl injury, so I can only balance on one side of my body. I'm supposed to get a CT scan, and see a neurologist soon. We'll see what happens. This is actually pretty painful to deal with. Thanks for the insight.

FIND A GOOD SPINE SURGERY SPECIALIST. They will personally take your documents/scans and find out the actual truth instead of just believing what the radiologists says. But CT scan is what I had right before surgery. It shows bone VERY WELL. If a doctor makes you feel like they don't care or they aren't listening to you then pls try and find another. I spent so long stuck with the same situation because HAHAH I ACTUALLY TRUSTED RADIOLOGISTS and REGULAR DOCS LMAO

I have pain in the same area but it runs into my glutes and testes. It hurts whenever I bend over for more than a minute or two. People don't understand the pain we have. It's something they know nothing about. I hope I can one day get treated and find peace. I have attempted suicide by hanging twice from a low rope with knees hovering over ground and woke up panicking and the last time was trying to get the police to shoot me over a knife. They tased me and i cried and asked why they didn't shoot me and they didn't say anything. I want the pain to stop. No one should feel this way. So many people are suffering and I want to help them but there is nothing I can do. I am seen as a crazy person cause I went to a psych facility. I wasn't crazy. I was sane. If you have so much pain a normal person can turn suicidal. I hope you are ok and I hope anyone that is in this pain can find help. I am struggling so bad. Why is life like this?

How does osteoporosis play into SI, or other joint issues in this area? I have just been diagnosed with osteoporosis, have been having a variety of different pains in my back for the last year, pretty much now have constant pain, mostly movement based. But I've had times after an "incident" where the pain has been acute. The incident was always at the gym, and what I felt was a "thunk" in my lower back. The thunk itself didn't hurt that much, took a few hours for it to really bloom. The last time it happened, the pain ultimately seemed to wrap around my whole pelvis, even the jutting part of my hips became tender to the touch, and it started to go down my leg. I walked like a frail 80 year old (I'm 61, was a runner until my back started to say no.) I read about SI joint instability, thought maybe that's what it was, and now, with osteoporosis on the table (never crossed my mind until my husband arranged a DEXA scan for me,) if it's true that bones actually get smaller, not just less dense, then increased instability and movement makes sense. Still not sure what the thunk in my back is, though. Just mechanically...I don't know.

I've had 2 pts that helped immediately reiliving pain and another pt who did know what she was going, worse than no help.. Exercises she suggested made me worse and told me that I could continue doing the exercises that I am currently doing that is definitely making it worse. Don't you stairs or walk Or do any sort of lateral movement like tennis probably not lunches or yoga where you're putting a lot of weight on one leg or the other. I asked this time for a male therapist and he was great I would Try and explain my comment about the male therapist but I don't know how to put it into words .. But I have had help with 2 male therapist andmale therapist and like I said the one female did not know what she was doing at all she was also quite young maybe she wasn't even a physical therapist but it was a $120... Also you might need more than physical therapy I can't really prescribe so I'm just guessing that physical therapy might help you .

Stop drinking coffee and caffeinated energy drinks. These pains will go away within a few days.
