Inm a massage therapist to. Working on floor mat 12 years, and now table to. I just find out this might be the cause of my pain. Not sure abiut ankylose spondalitis thst im treated for. Seems i have hyper mobility of the s i joint. It pop every day since long.
I found good videos about strenghtening of the muscles around, to stabilize it.

I have pain over the sacrum. It acts like a severe muscle spasm keeping me stuck in limbo sometimes. Stuck between getting up and getting down. I see these videos as a massage therapist myself, I end up so confused. It is bilateral or over the sacrum. Anyone else suffer this? What body mechanics are in play while working as a massage therapist? My si joint dx was negative I guess since it did not resolve pain. Even though I told them it was on both sides they only did one side so it adds to confusion. Chiropractic adjustments kill. Like cripple me for days.

My SI joint pain is self diagnosed from reading and videos such as this. My pain started as tightness which evolved into pain which can be on either side, usually the left side. Mostly felt after getting out of bed. The pain has never been extreme, mainly a nuisance. The pain subsides with normal movement after a while. The pains started years ago. I began doing several hip exercises to strengthen associated muscles and joints. I discovered over time that the best relief comes from doing a particular stretch before getting out of bed. Lie flat back, raise the knees, rotate knees like a windshield wiper as far left as possible, maintaining upper back and shoulders flat on bed. Maintain for one minute. Now rotate the alternate direction for the other SI joint. This stretch has made a massive improvement. I no longer have pain getting out of bed or after walking. I now do this stretch every morning as maintenance. I can also painlessly get out of bed without doing the stretches. I am 69 years old.

I dont know that is safe and can work for everybody with SI joint. This isn't like a disc issue. For SI joint, I think you need a program tailored for you because my SI joint pain and its variables could be different from another person, whereas what works for disc issues on me probably will work for another person.
One thing I'm understanding is SI joint dysfunction is like a sprain to any other part of the body. Like your ankle or knee or something. And what do you do for ankle or knee sprain? You brace it. You hold it in place. Stretching ligaments or tendons will only make it worse or never heal it.
So when I think about this exercise, I think to myself the whole back needs to stay in alignment. If I'm leaving my upper back fixed and twisting my lower body and one side is stretching more than the other, not only is twisting not helpful for SI joint but not keeping the whole back flat against the bed could cause more pain and inflammation.
I am not self diagnosed. I am actually diagnosed with SI joint ligamentopathy and I have several points of tendinopathy. This isnt a textbook case of SI joint dysfunction. It's a very complex and misunderstood issue.

I’m nearly speechless here. This is me. For so many years my small town family doctor basically told me it was in my head so I stopped asking for help. It kept getting worse. Several years later while I was pregnant with my daughter (now she’s 18) there were days that I wouldn’t be able to walk up the stairs to our 3rd floor apartment and I would have to sit and scooch up on my butt cuz I just couldn’t lift my legs to get up there. Years and years of torture. I started using opioids prescribed at first but then….. well, not. 😒 I was just trying to get thru the day. The only jobs around were at the ski resort and cleaning condos. Things were not good. More than once I nearly ended my life. Finally after waving the white flag 🏳️ and moving to a different state I actually got the chance to see a pain management specialist and he actually had to convince me that it wasn’t “all in my head” that there was a name for what was happening.
I just wish that the injections didn’t hurt so bad. It was horrible. The pain of those was equal to childbirth and pancreatitis.
I never thought to look for videos about SI joint pain/dysfunction.
Sorry for unloading all that stuff on here!! But, thanks for sharing this info with others!!

I had SI joint pain for over a year. I had a knee injury like 9 years ago and my knee was never the same and was weaker. I never got proper treatment for it. But i did notice over the years my right leg was a lot weaker than my left. I started developing what i thought was back pain. I had an MRI and it showed an inflamed SI joint. My physical therapist at the time treated me for back pain and didn't do the SI joint. Fast forward to me wearing a knee brace and now my pain has decreased tremendously! 3 orthopedic doctors looked at me with confusion as to why i had SOO much pain with sitting and low back pain. It was my si joint all along!! I cried and was miserable this whole time. Thank god i decided to try that knee brace. Now i'll go back to a PT and have them focus on building strength in my core, SI, and right leg.

The burning in those joints and my hip/ leg joints is so intense its unbearable. I had a Lumbar MRI recently that found 3 bulged discs and arthritis. I had the lumbar Steroidal Epidural injection and it didn't help at all. They injected at l4-l5 and l5-S1. Ive been really losing hope lately and wondering what this is and how I'm gonna continue living like this. Im only 39 yrs old too so all of this is strange for my age i think. Hi I am 78 now and have just got to understand so much more from this video . I had a trauma to my spine 33 yrs ago which has left me with chronic pain since. I know they didn't have the knowledge that they do now so it has been only presently that I have a clear picture of things. Getting off opioids would be marvelous so I'm wondering after obviously having had unsuccessful injections that they may have been put into the wrong places. Now that lately a new MRI has pinpointed the pinched nerve at the Si joint and that an injection may help the buttock pain, I will still be left with the other pain problems.
. Your video gives me the impression that all of the symptoms are coming from the S I joint. That picture of the red spot and the red streeks and the leg knee and foot have given a good picture of my situation and case explained. I can have the bone released to free the nerve but no guarantees. Doing exercises and pool Walking.😊

I'm just kind of thinking. Maybe 9 years ago you guys should have gotten on and researched and learned some things about what was going on with you you didn't have to spend nine years wondering what was wrong with you and you could have found out when you could have found out 9 years ago. My injury was a year ago because they screwed around for the first 6 months I will have this condition the rest of my life now so the whole thing of discomfort is a bunch of crap it's painful and it's going to be painful for the rest of my life because the joint did not heal back in its rightful place and they can't cut everything up so it can heal correctly. Now I have to correct my life and everything else around it it pays to do research and not trust just what a doctor says. Because there are 10 people at the same problem you have in all 10 people feel it differently that's why a doctor cannot tell you definitively that your problem is exactly what he says it is.

I haven't been able to work. My normal job. The doctors I have been going to about a dozen of them and they are not good at figuring out what the problem is. I had to use TH-cam to figure the problem out. After four injections in my lower back with zero results now in a couple days I'm going to try an injection in my SI joint . Hopefully it works or helps. Riding in a car down a freeway is one of the most painful things I have experience with this SI problem. It is something that I just can't do anymore. Looking to buy myself a nice smooth riding car and stick on the blacktop roads close to home

Thank you so much for this very informative video. I don't see why this pain affects me, as I don't have any of those issues you mentioned. I suffer bouts of it a few times a year, and it takes about 2 weeks to go away each time. I'm currently on Day 10, and I'm still in a lot of pain, hard to sit, go from sitting or lying down to standing straight (hunched over is usually all I can do for the first few days), hard to find a comfortable sleeping position, and walking also hurts. My pain is in the lower back, as well as all around the front - groin, pelvis, hip bone, and outside of upper thigh - often both sides, sometimes just one. It's like a wide belt of pain that I'm wearing. It's extremely disabling, but thankfully, I work from home. I'm surviving on Aspercreme with Lidocaine and a pelvic belt. I feel like Advil does nothing, though I do take it sometimes just in case. Just walking to get the mail is extremely difficult. Btw, my pain is also self-diagnosed based on all the research I have done. The one time I saw a doctor was just for hip pain by itself, and he found nothing.

  • @Kvilladon

Probably the most helpful and the most validating video I have seen. I have gone to my doctor's and have felt defeated every time and not being able to sleep has made me feel a bit crazy too. I think sometimes doctors forget to communicate properly. "EMG looks Normal, Unsure why you are having so much pain and discomfort. We can do injections to see if that will help" I was here thinking why the hell am I going to do a freaking injection if you don't know what the issue is?! Maybe now I can direct my questions better. If it's for a diagnostic purpose for sacroiliac joint this makes sense. I had fusion of S1-L4. Surgery was good, most of my pain went away but a new pain crept up months after surgery. A year later I still have trouble sleeping in any position especially laying on my back and I still can't feel my left glute.

I'm 34 and I've been injured since my late twenties. When you're young and in shape nobody will listen to your complaints about back pain, and it has taken me years of complaining and going to different doctors and ultimately being forced into workers' compensation and finally the doctor mentioned my sacroiliac joint. Looking this up there is no doubt in my mind that that's what it is and I'm kind of irate because it seems like with a few pointed questions and a thorough examination this could have been easily diagnosed. Makes me think doctors are clocking into their 9 to 5:00 just like everybody else. Police and doctors should be held to the utmost standards if they're going to be compensated or given so much leeway and power.

This is the best information as to what I am dealing with I have ever found. I have had xrays of my back 10 years ago because at first I thought it was a sciatic nerve issue. I just had xrays and an mri done of my hip because I have started to feel this really bad in my groin, and I also have a pop and a snap. I also have pain in my lower back below L5 and not centerline. It hurts to bend over and bend up, I could hardly get out of bed the other day, it hurts to sit down, stand up, or lay down. However I finally have insurance and was able to isolate the pain instead of the entire region just being in pain, and this is exactly where it's coming from. I start physical therapy tomorrow and I am going to tell them this is the treatment I need and want moving forward. It's been very depressing to deal with this because every-time I have attempted to get it sorted I was always told I was fine but knowing in reality I was in excruciating pain. I will let you all know what happens, and let you all know how physical therapy and further treatments go. Keep you head up, you're not alone. Thank you Dr. for this video. You saved my life.

I’ve heard of a fusion surgery, but i don’t think i’m going to do it because im only 17 (I’m a soccer player), so I’m scared for my future and I think you should maybe try more exercises when doing your PT, because you need months to see improvement ( before even considering surgery ).It also looks like they also take good care of you when you’re doing PT. I assumed it was a soft tissue injury since it was more toward the left side. I couldnt walk unsupported for at least a week but i never went to an Orthopedic. It is only recently that info such as this video has been available and it has opened my eyes. Thank you for this. Also important underlying cause - hypermobility syndromes including ehlers Danlos syndrome, Marfan's. Look for marfanoid body type, check Beighton score (don't just ask if patient is hypermobile as many don't realise their joint range is abnormal) . Check for pelvic floor issues eg prolapse, rectocele, evacuation difficulties, incl in people who haven't had a pregnancy (could contribute to pain & good clue to hypermobility esp if no pregnancy to explain!). Fatigue maybe related to PoTs. Hydrotherapy maybe be more effective than standard physio if joints are especially unstable due to ligament laxity.

I am also trying to do PT on my own. Kaiser PT was awful, though I did not do for SI joint. After watching this, I'm not sure if the issue is my SI joint. I have more exploration to do. This is so informative and for the first time I understand why I have been in such pain .
It started in pregnancy (3 and a half years ago) I was diagnosed with common pelvic girdle pain and I was told by my gp that this can last for 1-2 years post-partum however the pain only became chronic and didn't improve , it just kept returning depending on how active/inactive I was . Sometimes If i only carroed my toddler for 5 minutes it would trigger off excruciating pain in my SI joint.
Holidays abroad also would lead to the same doomed pain along with many other life activities.
I am currently seeing Chiropractor 3 times a week for treatment and I'm starting to feel like myself again.

I remember saying to the chiropractor I had pain in my ribs and bam he immediately knew the SI j problem. So for $40 a belt which would give immediate relief but needs to be used for a while to correct the problem seems like a plus-plus. Even if it doesn't work then no great loss. Also I was at 280# when the issue arose so the added weight caused the problem no doubt. I remember ascending a steep hill when it happened. The joint was probably comprised from falling hard on my buttocks years prior.

Stay stro🙏

I recently had a diagnosis from my physical therapist after a recent injury that my issue is much the same as described in this video. I hope it's something that can heal up soon. I'm 5 days in with hardly any relief.

Update on my pain. I was able to get back to normalcy with in 1 1/2 weeks. My amazing physical therapists helped tremendously. Also not staying still too long and moving around helped loosen me up. Lots of cold packs on and off worked well too.

😮 I’m 30, been dealing with this pain since I was about 8years old. MRIs of my back and X-rays of my hips showed absolutely nothing wrong. This is Exactly what is wrong. The doctors always “give up” and say it’s hip arthritis despite not seeing arthritis at all.

I have a spinal injury, and it related to twisting and lifting 4 years ago (04/2020 pandemic) lifting a 40lb bag of potting soil at work, I have not had a life pain free since then. I had a kyphoplasty 8 months later on T 12 which is the close to the center of my back and also have disc bulges in L4-5 and L5-S1(more prominent) and where we believed was the source of my pain the past two years it has come from the right side and then the left predominately consistently/ the steroid injections last me 75 percent pain free for about 10 weeks. I have had the nerve radiofrequency ablation twice with 6 injections at a time and epidurals twice before that, I have learned to keep data/ I mostly feel disabled. I can't walk long, sit or lay down to long, stairs and hills are a problem for me and since this has been going on so long physical therapy is not an option Physical endurance is not happening for anything physical in my life today. For me if I am not in direct pain from pangs in this very area highlighted on this video my back is stiff, the rest of my muscles surrounding my back are tired and sore. I am not a complainer and prayer, meditation and disconnect is a go to for me. I am scheduled for 2 sacroiliac joint (steroid) injections this week and I will share this information with my pain management surgeon. Thank you, I really appreciate this information.

I enjoyed this video and graphics. Please talk more about Ankylosing Spondylitis diagnosis with bloodwork, ANA, HLA B27 and xray, plus bone scan for SI joint fusion. This dysfunction is under diagnosed, especially in women. Thank you.

My chiropractor is the one who is helping me. My SI joint is twisted and he untwists it twice a week. It does not hurt when he does this. The SI joint is now mobile..it had been stuck for years from trauma ( horse accidents) the painful part is the ligaments and muscles as they adapt to the New Untwisted position. The muscles are weak as they try to do the job. So when the muscles start going weak in the afternoon...I lay down and take the pressure off them for half hour. Get up...muscles rested good to go another several hours. Chiropractor assures me that once these muscles get stronger in a few months I will be back to normal. My SI joint is being held now in the untwisted position by the new ligaments and muscles. Hope this all makes sense. BTW I had been trying to find a doctor to help me for 6 years. Not all chiropractors are the same. Message me for more info.

The doctor told me my right SI joint is infected with TB and there's a bulging disc at L4/5. My blood test came back positive. He recommended another skin test involving a needle or skin tissue removal.
I just turned 20, and I feel shattered and helpless. I asked him about physical therapy, but he kept denying it and didn't prescribe any antibiotics. It's been over 12 months, and the pain returns if I stop taking the inflammation medicine.
