Rusty Pliers Restoration- Nickel Plating | Mister Patina
In this Video i‘m restoring an old pair of Tattoo Marking Pliers- i bought them online from a private guy. This Plier is made by E. Walther Torgau and was used with tattoo ink, to mark pigs or cows ears to identify them. Dont worry, i bought them just for the Restoration and decoration ;)
I stripped the Old Nickel plating by sanding and other methods, created my own Nickel electrolyt with white vinegar, salt, pure Nickel and electricity. With this liquid i was able to add a new layer of nickel by electrolysis.
The Final result of the Pliers Restoration isnt perfect, it had several holes and serious marks still left. But i think a Little Patina isnt wrong :)
I hope you like the video, stay tuned to see Part 2 - in this part I will restore the Boxes and Marking digits.
If you have any questions or suggestions, you can write an email, i try to answer asap.

That is actually a tattoo gun for livestock. Put numbers in pliers and add ink to ear of animal and squeeze pliers and wallah you have a permanent tattoo for identification. Just thought I'd share.
Thanks Brennon!
Super but better a beautifull wood piece
Good job
Thanks Maury!
U have a new follower now from Scotland
Hey Vhari, thanks a lot! :)

1st Pliers
Thank you for sharing Mr P. Great restoration and super good video work.
I really enjoyed this video. Thank you for sharing.
Definitely a well used tool, but I don't know for what. I have never seen one like it before, but that's me. Thanks for sharing your videos.
Thanks for your comment Paul! This Tool is used for (tattoo-)marking cows or pigs ears, to identify them. Pretty cruel, but I won’t use it - just for decoration 🙂
Not cruel. It is better than ear notching
@@misterpatina I've seen numbers on card board just like that too... Similar tool I'm sure
Oh wow, those are so cool.💙
Excelente ¡¡¡ 🤗🤗🤗👍👍👍🔩🔩⚒🛠⚔🔗🪓🔨🔐
Wood?? I could've sworn that would be rubber or bakelite
Tribunal del Santo Oficio de la Inquisición?
Excelente 👏👏👏
good restoration
Thank you! 🙂
Great job!
Thanks Ingmar! :-)
This is wonderful! Out of curiosity, how much nickel plating is TOO much nickel plating? You put the tools in for 90 seconds. What would have happened if you'd gone a little bit more? Does it ruin the tool?
hey my friend! There are so much "rules" for nickle plating - so much that theres not that one answer. Depending on the power, the nickel, the amount of nickel solution, the size of the part...and much more. But to answer your question: I once left it too long in the solution and it started to "crack" on the surface, hard to say but it looked like little cracks and a slightly "wavey" surface.
You need a lot of experience with plating that way, to get the "perfect" result.
Nice, thanks for share!
Thanks for watching 🙂
Why do I always read the "X hours later" parts in the spongebob narrator voice?
You’re not alone...😄😄
nice g nice
Thanks!
Gostei.
Bien !! Mais les poinçons et les boîtes ??
Merci! les coups et les boîtes ont été restaurés dans une autre vidéo sur ma chaîne. 🙂
@@misterpatina ok merci j'avais pas vu 👍🏻😉
Hi Mr. Patina! Great fan of tour restorations. Easy question: which drill stand are you using?
Hey Javier, thanks a lot! Guess this question is too easy, I really dont know, sorry :(
DSAZX
Even me I was wondering what for that pliers...now reading the comments I know...
What kind of wheel did you use to remove the nickel? Love your channel thanks!!
Thanks! In Germany we Call this thing a „Cookie Disc/Wheel“ or „abrasive drill disc/wheel“. I really don’t know any official name 😕
Super restauration !
👍👍👍👍
:-)
As the Joker has previously said to me, "Where does he get those wonderful toys?"
Haha, from the big online auctionhouse...:-)
Is that a The Lego Batman Movie 2017 reference that I heard

@@misterpatina Hi, Doch wirklich fast so einfach, habe gerade meine ersten Teile erfolgreich vernickelt. Inklusive Elektrolyt selber machen (Essigbasis)
Sorry, that nickel plating won't prevent rust😐
Mehaaaaa
Beautiful video. Thanks. Why did you leave all the big holes (pockmarks) in the handle? my mechanics would not have. I want you at his level to give us more good options. :-)
