This Turkey vlog we explore Istanbul with a local for the first time. We go on a food tour trying some of the best Turkish food and street food Istanbul has to offer including our first time trying baklava. This video we worked with Localie a cool platform connecting travellers with locals who show off their local cities. Istanbul is such a fun city to explore with a local as there are so many hidden gems. We got to sample some of Turkeys best food from Baklava, Mercimek, Tantuni, Balık Dürüm and local wine and lemonade.
We also got to visit a couple of Istanbul neighborhoods we haven't seen before like Balat and Karakoy as well as Galata which we visited before.

Actually we don't eat lentil soup with garlic, generally people put some lemon juice in it. Garlic is ideal for lamb's paunch soup.

Tatars are also Turkic people that only they aren't from same Turkic tribe as we Anatolian Turks so you can consider them as Turks indeed, in fact there are several million Turks in Turkey that their ancestors were actually living in Russia and Ukraine but they had to migrate after wars such as Crimean Tatars in 19th century..
By the way you are extremely sweet couple and your videos are really fun and good quality, im surprised you don't have much more subscribers but im sure you will get there as you really deserve it :)

The Armenian Genocide[a], also known as the Armenian Holocaust,[10] was the Ottoman government's systematic extermination of 1.5 million Armenians,[note 2] mostly citizens of the Ottoman Empire.[11][12] The starting date is conventionally held to be 24 April 1915, the day that Ottoman authorities rounded up, arrested, and deported from Constantinople (now Istanbul) to the region of Angora (Ankara), 235 to 270 Armenian intellectuals and community leaders, the majority of whom were eventually murdered.
The genocide was carried out during and after World War I and implemented in two phases-the wholesale killing of the able-bodied male population through massacre and subjection of army conscripts to forced labour, followed by the deportation of women, children, the elderly, and the infirm on death marches leading to the Syrian Desert. Driven forward by military escorts, the deportees were deprived of food and water and subjected to periodic robbery, rape, and massacre.[13] Most Armenian diaspora communities around the world came into being as a direct result of the genocide.[14]
Other ethnic groups were similarly targeted for extermination in the Assyrian genocide and the Greek genocide, and their treatment is considered by some historians to be part of the same genocidal policy.[1][2]
Raphael Lemkin was moved specifically by the annihilation of the Armenians to define systematic and premeditated exterminations within legal parameters and to coin the word genocide in 1943.[15] The Armenian Genocide is acknowledged to have been one of the first modern genocides,[16][17][18] because scholars point to the organized manner in which the killings were carried out. It is the second-most-studied case of genocide after the Holocaust.[19]
Turkey denies that the word genocide is an accurate term for these crimes, but in recent years has been faced with increasing calls to recognize them as such.[20] As of 2019, governments and parliaments of 31 countries, including Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, and Russia, as well as 49 of the 50 states of the United States,[note 4] have recognized the events as a genocide.[21]

Best local experience, in New Orleans had the owner of small hotel I stayed at take me around the French Quarter, she paid for most of the food. It's been twelve years now, go to New Orleans every year, stay at the same hotel, revisit many places she took me to. Have tried new places and taken her along. Locals Rock. Another excellent Beans video. I find Alex's honesty about foods he doesn't like refreshing. Personally love baklava, but have never eaten more than one piece. Death by sugar a bad way to go, death by coffee much more preferred.

Adam haklı. Baklavalar tatlı değil zehir resmen. Aşırı şekerli tüketiyoruz, şeker manyağı bir millet olmuşuz. Damak zevkimize bir çeki düzen vermemiz lazım.!

Amazing Emma , please keep always on camera rather than the boring Alex who has no senses to make reviews about , please.... Also , Alex you are the great guy to tour with since you don't have senses and sensitivity to all around and that's what makes you the best hangout friend !!!

Karaköy Güllüoğlu is the best to eat Baklava in Istanbul but he is Not a real local so there is no Şöbiyet and Sütlü Nuriye on the Baklava Plate. I prefer ice cream on them. If I eat too much about 1 kg, i prefer to drink Ayran to balance the sweetness. If I eat only 8-10 pieces i prefer to drink tea.

Turk here, I do not like Baklava that much either. Americans love Baklava all the time as they are all sweet freaks.
