I was completely disappointed after watching SUPERSAF's comparison between xperia 1 and s10+.....but after watching this i was surprised...awesome SONY....it actually depends upon the person who is taking photo specially in xperias...this is real review guys..SUPERSAF actually does not like SONY...and it's true..watch his xperia xz3 unboxing video ..you will understand..anyway RAY ...you are just awesome ...you really deserve million suscribers..

I think he chosed the bad ones on xperia 1 and the good ones on s10. When you take 50 photos with a camera there will be good and bad photos so simple

Wow! The first honest review. I was always wondering, why the compared a non released Sony against the S10+
But now Sony released the Xperia 1 and it seems the better choice for photography.

This video shows that the Xperia does a much better job than Supersafs video. I'm not saying that the Sony is better but in his video the Sony looked absolutely terrible and here it's doing really well.

There is room for improvement when it comes to HDR and stabilization @ 4K, but Xperia 1 is the all rounder. I really am surprised how your review goes in line with GSM arena unlike those biased fanboys.

Yes should be an easy software update fix.
Somebody said you need to change compression mode to h.265 instead of the default h.264 to get better 4k stabilisation.
Just wonder is there any purpose not set by default thus causing misunderstood to some idiots.
@@Yusukeleon Yes. H264 is more demanding on processor than H265, as H264 requires more bitrate data but retains better image quality. H265 is only somewhat compressed H264 codec, and therefore easier on the SoC, with more processing space left for EIS part of its stabilisation.
Good comparison...
From watching all the comparisons, this is my conclusion: the xperia 1 is good at pulling out details & accurate colors of the subject. But where it falls short is in HDR & contrast on most scenes especially with the sky in the background. It will blow out highlights more often & the overwhelming contrast will crush the blacks in most scenes. The S10+ have a more consistent HDR & will probably give you a better overall picture in scenes that are difficult to capture. If sony can fix these 2 issues (better HDR & lower the contrast), they'd be on top.

Did you shoot any photos on the Xperia 1 in manual mode?
does all this pictures from Sony x1 were on automatic mode or manual?if were in automatic mode how come the pictures looks so bad in other reviews?
Flashingdroid can you confirm if these phones were side by side on a gimble when you did these shots? The reason I'm asking this is because at around 2.52 there's an aircraft in the Sony pic that is not there on the Samsung which would be funny since in SuperSaf video there ks a shot of a light bulb where the smoke detector is visible on the xperia but not on the s10+

I can see why people like the Samsung pics, they generally look nice at standard sizes. I'd probably pic the Sony because I like natural pics I can edit later. Sony has less HDR but probably retains a bit more detail and colours because of it.
In the flower shots it looked like you took s10 pics under cloud cover and Sony pics in the sun :)

came here after supersafs video and was disappointed with the camera but yours showed me a new light
The camera world is a really biased place tbh people just look for the best out of box experience and it really triggers me. It's like the wonders of what a smartphone can do has died in most people eyes, they don't even play in the settings to see what works best. They only look for what's best on the surface and never go deeper.
I'm sure if u did a manual photo test the Xperia would definitely dominate the s10.
Would consider this my next buy plus it comes with their noise canceling headphones which is the best in the world rn definitely not gonna pass that up.

Thanks a lot for your professional comparison. Please make a comparison in real darkness in the filming section. But the simultaneous jitter mode disables Sony digital and optical, because the shutter speed becomes more and the less light absorbs.
Can you please make a 4k video using h265 codec? Some says it makes the 4k video stabilized on xperia 1.

I use a samsung and I can clearly tell sony won this one. It's a shame people hate natural colors and call oversaturation and over sharpening as "natural dynamic range"

Sony's 4k seems to use more of the sensor than the S10+, they seem to be cropping in more - allowing more leeway for EIS.
Did you turn on HDR in Sony? are the photos from Xperia 1 just point and shoot? There are differences amongst reviewers. Great work Ray.

and turn on HDR, other setting is auto

Great review!!! I'm using S8 and I always that Samsung's photos are oversaturated. I was struggling between S10 and XP1 but now I thinking I will choose XP1 for its sharper photos and more accurate colour reproduction. I really hope Sony will update the camera app for XP1 so HDR mode can be used in Auto mode for all 3 lenses, not just manual for the main lens only. I take lots landscape photos when I hike so highlight retention is really important to me.

I am seeing more unbiased views saying, the Xperia 1 has a very good camera. So why are popular reviewers saying it's not? They might be in someone's pocket.
I am not an even iPhone person, but I would take their camera over and S10/+. The colors on Samsung's pictures are too unnatural for me.

I thought Xperia's ultra wide cam has a bigger angel of view (135°) compared to this one in S10+ (123°) but in these pics it looks smaller, maybe 117°. Really strange! Can you please explain to me what is happening ?😃

I think a great camera gives back the reality on pictures, not a "plastic - fantasy - mock - fake" thing.

No one can match audio and video capabilities of Lg phones, lg had for years that cine pro like sony, v40 is still only phone in the world with 4k hdr video in 60fps with true hd camcoder while old v30 is still first on bencmarks in video editing and postprocessing.
There's something I don't understand. Here the 1 crushes the S10+ so easily, while in other comparisons, the 1 looks like it's still lagging behind this same S10+... Why?
Because if it's the case (which is what I believe), this 1 is certainly one of the best camera available on a smartphone right now.
Because some people are using the snapdragon variant of the S10 plus which is only sold in America and takes better photos than the exynos that's why

What has happened to other TH-camrs, they are just simply bashing the xperia like always.
Great honest review. Yes dynamic range and 4k stabilization struggles in xperia but rest everything is way better than others.
Other guys just recording 4k videos but they don't have a 4k screen to watch those in native 4k on the go. Xperia even offers 4 native resolution to watch the 4k footages.
That 4k needs to be fixed. It's not good when previous SONY phones have better stabilisation at the same resolution. 1080p looks good tho.

@@binhtran7266 I've got the Xperia 1 and the h.265 option does nothing to improve the 4K footage nor the stabilisation unfortunately. There's definitely some work needed for 4K video - although using the Cinema Pro app does make a difference (although it's still not stabilised with EIS)
Xperia V was a good phone with nice camera for that time. And I noticed, that light is going to dark and to white more better than our smartphones in 2019. I can record for compare

Sony planning to discontinue xperia or Smartphone market. Is it still worth buying? Will they update software?
Worth more than my old potato pc. Sony will stay in the USA and Europe but In Asia only Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Sony is very stable with the updates releases so no worries. 🙂 If you have any other questions I will gladly answer.
