A review of the Master Grade Gundam Ez-8 from the anime Mobile Suit Gundam 08th MS Team.

- This video is technically a reupload of a previous review. However, I had to take it down and swap out the music, so I decided to make some updates. Below are the notes for the original version, followed by the notes for this updated version.
- Yo~ Sorry this one came out a little negative, but I noticed a lot of reviews (not just gunpla) will sugarcoat things, but I prefer to stay as analytical as possible, even if that leads to a harsher tone.
- Production Notes for me to laugh at in 6 months-
- I REALLY tried to speed this one up. I've noticed it takes on average about a minute before the review starts and I tend to waste time elaborating on things. I tried to make this as snappy as possible.
- I spent about an hour trying to find a better place for the intro. I tried after the initial "hey" part and after the 4 categories, but I just couldn't make it sound natural, so I just stuck to at the beginning.
- I had a real rough time making this kit look good. It's just such a bland kit in terms of colors.
Here are the notes for this updated version:
- The 2nd to last "updated" review. After this, I have the GM Sniper II to update, then it's all new material. Even older videos that need to be replaced will be replaced with COMPLETELY REDONE versions. I can almost see the light~ Seriously, these updated videos are really tedious.
- Drastically altered color filter. The Ez8's colors are so dull I really needed to put some work into it. I also really decreased the contrast. This video did not have the highest quality footage...
- Completely new audio running off an updated script. It's actually a minute longer. Turns out the original review had a lot cut out, so when re-recording this I recorded all the cut out stuff by accident, but decided to keep it in this time around. I think this updated version is a bit more positive than the original.
- New Title Card
- New Music
- Insert shots during score sections and gimmicks. New box arts as well.
- Lots of re-editing. The original review was very slow, and honestly not done too well. So took a 'from the ground up' approach to editing. Still the same original footage though, so I was still very limited.
- I tried using a split screen to fix the alignment of the articulation and gimmicks scoring section. Originally, the kit was too far to the left, and the words would cover it up. Here, I moved the footage to the right slightly, the used another layer of the same footage, but flipped over top and moved all the way to the left. This essentially elongated the shot, and allowed more room for the words. However you'll notice the transition from the Articulation to the Gimmicks title card has a weird line on the left that doesn't fade right. Need to figure out a way to fix this. But then again, newer reviews don't have this issue to begin with lol

it would be nice if Bandai did version 2.0 for every 08th MS Team models in Master Grade.
If they ever did come out with a 2.0 of the 08th ms team units I would toss my money at it XD.

A 2.0 of the MG GM Ground type would be a good start.
You know, I'm still hopeful this and the ground gundam will get a 2.0, I honestly feel the ova and the actual suits themselves are popular enough to warrant them.
I imagine they will use the new Alex 2.0 inner frame for it, probably with just a new torso and lower arms. Given how much they milked the HGUC Ground GM mold they would be fools not to do a 2.0 of these.
@@supercell615 I personally don't think it will be Alex's frame as it's very distinct from the ground gundams. More likely I seem them doing a bespoke new frame which they can retool for ground gundam, ez-8, ground GM's, and the blue destiny units. Or they would most likely utilise the gundam 2.0 frame but that doesn't have the right proportions either

5:03 - "The knee has a solid 90 degree bend"
Actually, no, this kit can do better than 90 degrees. The knee joint feels like a double joint, but it's actually a triple-joint. The third pivot of the knee joint takes some force (it's part D12 in the top of the knee block) but it gives you another 30 degrees or so of knee bend IIRC.
If I had a big house I would buy a bunch of class MG’s and store them in the boxes for pure nostalgic reasons. You instantly feel that moment where you first held a real MG box

If you are to make more videos, I'd recommend doing the dom or the zeong for the retro "old style" of models. The zeong is a bit pricey right now though but continuing these videos is impairative to society, nay, humanity moving forward. These are the quintessential model kit reviews

The "cannon" is actually the Ground Type Bazooka, a cheaper variant base off of the Gundam's Hyper Bazooka.
My most favorite Gundam design, desperately needing the 2.0 improvements.
We have this at my hobby shop and yes it needs a 2.0 maybe even a RG
I wish there was a real or perfect grade version of the 08th team’s suites.
I don't know if this is the right place to ask questions and such about other kits, but would you ever consider reviewing the MG Unicorn OVA version? I personally think it's the worst MG and I'm curious as to what you would think of it.

Probably agree with everything said here. I have an MG EZ8 and it's very average, but aside from the hands it's not bad at all.
I come from 10 months in the futer no 2.0 yet
was going through my hobby closet and found i had this model new in the box then i found why i had it.........the build manual is missing. Anybody know a place where you can find that sort of thing?
Dalong.net has scans of all the manuals you can look at. Not the highest quality scans, but they should do the job. Best of luck!

i have 2 of these 1 in 1/144 scale and 1 in 1/100 scale
i also have a ground gundam and honestly at lest the ez8 stays together my ground gundam upper and lower body will not stay together with that shitty ball connection in the gut

They can be. I remember before I bought this one, I was in Japan and went to 4-5 places asking for an MG EZ-8 and they were out of stock everywhere. I think this is just one of those those kits that Bandai doesn't re-release too frequently, probably due to age.

Something about the white on this just feels off.maybe the camera is adjusting white balance because of all the blue, but I always remembered it being a yellow tinted suit rather than the cooler color we have here
I manually white balance to the 5K lights. The kit is kind of an off color, a little cooler than it is in the anime. I think Bandai tried to make it whiter to fit in with other hero suits. I also prefer the tan-ish color of the anime.
i've been building MG since day 1... no MG is bad, every kit were better than the last. just advancement in design and tech. i'm still waiting for this and the GP01 2.0.
I kind of agree. There are specific cases, like this Ez-8 not quite living up to how great the previous Ground Gundam was, but still, Bandai does seem to improve with each release!
3:28 - I think your complaints about the proportions don't really make sense. "The chest is too bulky, the arms are too slender, and the head is too big for its body"
Like... what? The Ez8 is supposed to have a bulky chest. It's supposed to have fairly slender arms. I could maybe see your point with the head - I think the MG Ground Gundam head was already a bit oversize, so to have basically the same head but with stuff added to it....
But the arms? If anything I'd say they should be slimmer. And have the correct shape. The chest is pretty close to correct, mostly just needs a few tweaks to nail the look.

honestly, I think the kit looks fine, but if you put it side by side with the artwork the proportion does seem kinda off. Still, am probably gonna get this kit, as I'm a bit of a sucker of these old school kits

Even the MG RX-79 [G] is a pile of shit. Bought it to make a diorama with but can't get it into the pose I wanted and now I want to tale a hammer to it (will most likely just cut and glue in to the pose I want. The articulation is horrible, like I get it is older but it can't do the kneel pose, can't do a dynamic shooting stance. It can stand straight-ish.. And my beam saber handles are stuck it the leg hatches. These kits need a 2.0 badly. Wanted this because 08th team is my favorite series but I'm just disappointed with the model.
Amazing how some HGs are far superior to the MG versions, the HG version of this is far more posable, the legs can move around so much. The only problem with the HG is how the elbows are made, they break up so easily, probably for... IMMERSION!
i always glue every piece in place, hearing people complain about loos pieces makes me cringe. so youll spend 50 buck on a kit but not th 6 bucks it takes to get tiny bottle of super glue? youll spend 4 hours on super complicated builds but you wont spend the extra 5 second on each piece to secure it properly? i dont care if the kits says no glue required i dont care if it ha pegholes, that shit it to quality plastic, its going to get loose and fall apart if you dont treat it like a real model kit
