08 is the unit marking (as in the 08 MS team) and 81 is the individual marking for the vehicle. That’s how we do it in the real world militaries.
Like you’d have a tank that has the markings for the unit it’s from. Like it’ll have 2-1 for “2nd armored brigade combat team, 1st armored division” and the individual vehicle would have A22 on it because it belongs to alpha company, 2nd platoon and it’s their #2 vehicle and A21 will be their first vehicle and so on and so fourth.

The RX-79 [G] or "Ez8" Gundam is a ground type mobile suit that is capable of ground combat that consist of a Hyper Bazooka, Beam Rifle, 100mm machine gun and a "Weapons" container that holds the Hyper Bazooka piloted by Shiroh Amada who fought and won against Norris Packert by slicing he's Gouf custom in two between the waist and upper body.

I grew up on MGs like that... my very first one was the Kampfer. Talk about a kit that deserves a 2.0! Kampfer was a mess of badly designed stickers and thin plastic, but it just looks menacing when complete

Oh my god I LOVE this thing - 08th MS Team is my favourite Gundam series, and the Ez-8 is just...look at it. Beautiful. I love it so much.

The 08 on the shield is for the 08th MS Team.
81 signifies 08th MS Team's leader. Others in the team would be 82, 83 etc

To be even more specific, they use 3 digit unit numbers first being location, 0 being home base or HQ, second being group/team, 8th team, and third number being unit, so Shiro being 081, and Karen and Sanders being units 082 and 083.

I build the MG Gundam Ground Type.. it made me quit MGs forever.

So I guess the best way to get around this on a budget is to use a dopple of mounting putty and/or sticky tack in the hands to hold the weapons in place? With no pegs, this seams like the only non-permanent option.

CISsuperdroid at some point there were other hands created that may work on this. Either Bandai or third party.

I do both. but obviously right now online is more prevalent.
