In any case, YES, old school jedi were wrong with this and a ton of other stuff, ahhahaha
I think they have the same problem that many modern people do. They use one term, love, to represent several different types of emotional attachment. The Ancient Greeks had eight words for love. One for lustful love, one for brotherly love, and so on and so forth. In AOTC Anikin tells Padmé that the Jedi are encouraged to love, but it I think they would have benefited from knowing what type of love was encouraged and what type of love was discouraged. Or simply letting the Jedi love in all forms and helping individuals through the fear that comes with the thought of losing someone and/ or the pain that comes when a loved one dies.
The Jedi taught compassion which Anakin described as unconditional love which I don't think that it's that exactly, he was trying to get around the code. But you can see that many Jedi had become too detached from feelings, they taught and were taught that death is a natural part of life which is true but the question is, when do you stop fighting for life? Luminara Unduli was eager to abandon her apprentice whereas Anakin didn't stop searching for Ahsoka. Anakin being a slave was supposed to again abide to rules and not express his true feelings which led his burst at the end. Jedi feared so much the cost of someone losing a person that he loves, so they chose to prevent it, thus giving in to fear. Although they were supposed to face it. That's where Luke succeeded, "No matter what happens between us, you're my father and I love you, and I know you love me too", and throws his lightsaber on Palpatine's face, "I don't care what you say, this is my father and you won't tear us apart"
Yes, the dialogue in the movies was a tad bit cheesy, but remember, the clone wars series had years to develop Anakin and hundreds of episodes, the movies only had a couple hours per film and only could show big events.
I really like how Clone Wars show that Anakin and Padme are a bit toxic (I demand you, as your husband, Anakin being so jealous) and that both were deeply in love, but also tired of not being able to be together in the open. Makes RotS much better, and I love RotS as it is. I think having a tv show between movies helps a lot to the franchise. Now I just want a show that shows us Anakin and Obi-Wan between episode 1 and 2.
@@ThePunisherSpider I'm gonna be that person who defends their ship- I don't think Anakin (in that part, cause yes it was toxic near the end of Padme's life) was exactly toxic, because he still wanted what was best for her, but he was overprotective and very controlling because his fear was overwhelming him and causing him to overreact and doubt Padme's ability to protect herself. It also caused jealousy, because another way he could lose Padme was if she stopped loving him and chose to be with someone else. He held on too tight and let his fear control him. P.s I totally agree I would love a show that has scenes of young Anakin's training as a Padawan up until the Clone Wars, I feel like we missed a huge time period(what, 10 years total?) and the gap needs to be filled!
@@ThePunisherSpider Anakin didn't have anyone to teach him how relationships work, or to even show him, he had to figure it out all by himself, while being told that relationships are bad by the jedi order Such a tragedy
In the movies Anakin seems whiny like Padme's death is the only reason he tries to join the dark side, but with the clone wars we seem him as a general losing faith slowly in the order which has betrayed his trust numerous times, especially with the departure of Ahsoka and their failure to own up to it. Also, it's extremely unfair to trash on Hayden for the cringey dialogue because either Anakin was MEANT to be like this at the time.
@@cs-zr9xy cause one couple actually goes through struggles together and actually contributed to the franchise and the other was one of the reasons why the sequels suck ass
Rey and Kylo are trash I mean they have these weird visions and kiss and oh Kylo is dead I mean seriously I would rather do Jar Jar and his weird girlfriend from the clone wars
Anakin was just a boy when he met the love of his life. She gave brith to twins who grew up to became heroes. Her baby boy and girl first met on the Death Star. Luke was the older twin and Princess Leia was younger one. Padme lost Anakin to the Dark Side of the force after she died with broken heart.
You know if you play the castlsvania Lord of shadow games then you know the characters are similar Gabriel Belmont/Anakin Skywalker,Dracula/Darth Vader,Marie/Padme,Trevor Belmont/Luke Skywalker, Zobeck/Palpatine and Satan/Darth Sidious.
Actually she didn’t die from a broken heart it was actually Palpatine draining her life force to sustain Anakin long enough before the whole machinery was able to do that job. Then he said that to him because in a way it was true and Palpatine smiles at Anakin‘s Devastation
They are my favorite couple. I grew up with episode 2 being my favorite and my family hid from me that she died for so long. I was Younger so I didn’t really see the signs or understand that they were prequels. Literally no love story breaks my heart like them
Girl, SAME. Episode 2 was the first star wars movie I saw (I was like 4 lol), so even when I was 7-8 ish I had no clue about the rest of the story 🤣🤣😭.
It's true love for both Anakin and Padme. It's a shame that their love went tragic in the end. Anakin turned to the darkside is a heartbreaking scene, she died of a broken heart and lost the will to live.
those are all human and valid emotions tho. the jedi order went too far, they feared the dark side so much that they were the reason it became so powerful in the end. anakin needed help, the jedi only cared about their rules.
The prequels really make you question Yoda’s people skills though. What kind of wise master tells a child that missing his mother will lead him to the dark side? Or brushes aside the concerns of a young man who he knows has had deep emotional issues in the past? Maybe if Yoda had spent more time trying to understand where Anakin was coming from rather than simply repeating the same canned lines over and over, he wouldn’t have turned. Who knows...
I dont understand why yoda didnt help him, with his problems. If yoda helped anakin then anakin would still be on the good side. Replay what you think?
No matter your views on the prequels, the movies were beautifully written and acted. Natalie Portman and Hayden did an amazing job and portraying their characters and showing the build up to the original trilogy. Beautifully done.
WHAT???!!! Even if he gave her all the love she wanted, she still would've died at child birth. Like his mother, for example. He had a vision that she died and when he got to her she died.
@@abbiemassey6712 Not really remember the doctor said she was fine health wise she had just lost the will to live so if she knew that Anakin was with her she would’ve lived.
well it’s more like if he had just disregarded it she would have lived. Everything anakin did led to her death with him trusting palp to betraying the Jedi to fighting obi which led him to be half dead which led to palp stealing force energy from padme to anakin letting him live and her die right after the child birth.
I think EP2 Anakin is similar enough to how Anakin is in the Clone Wars. In EP3 you gotta remember Anakin was stressed out a lot and in deep thought the entire movie for obvious reasons
Anakin really did everything for Padmé. You can even see it in Revenge of the Sith, when he talks to her on Mustafar. When Anakin was Vader, he still wanted Padmé to be safe. Love really is the most powerful weapon in the whole galaxy
I feel so bad, he joined the dark side to save padme and even in his anger he still loved her. He deserved more than what he got most definitely. I think annikens story is one of the saddest stories I’ve ever heard of. His life went like: Slave, Jedi youngling, Jedi, finding the love of his life and needing to keep it a secret, knowing she was going to die at childbirth and trying to save her by giving himself up to a sith lord, he accidentally made her die because he thought she had turned on her, he got burned and his limbs sliced off, when he recovered his first words were, “How’s Padme?” And “Is she alive?” When he faced the dreading truth he hated himself for the rest of his life and he lost two people that he tried to save but failed each time. He needed to make a decision right which he made wrong. He trusted Palpatine and killed the wrong person because he thought he really could save padme. That is the absolute worst outcome of any events and I still feel really bad if it is fictional or not
Gotta say, that *was* really the worst timed entrance in history from Obi Wan. I mean seriously. Padme was on the verge of persuading Anakin to leave with her, but then she started talking about Obi Wan and he got riled, but could have been calmed down, only for Obi Wan to emerge from her shuttle. Padme and she looks towards Obi Wan, shouts "NO! and looks back at Anakin. I mean it in that moment it did look like they were together. I'm not saying that justifies his choking her, but just the timing and her reaction, coupled with he fact that he was under the influence of the Dark Side. I mean it was inevitable that he would get the wrong idea about their relationship. There was actually a storyline in an early draft of ROTS (that was abandoned) in which it was suggested that Obi Wan and Padme were having an affair. They weren't but it was something Palpatine implied, and his going to their apartment when Anakin was away did look suspicious. Then on Mustafar it would have seemed like they conspired to kill Anakin so they could be together. The idea of his best friend betraying him in the worst possible way with his wife would have been enough to tip Anakin over the edge. This scene kind of makes more sense in light of that.
It's also really obvious in the novel how Palpatine and the Dark Side twist things. At first, when Palpatine suggest Obi Wan doing suspicious things with a Senator, Anakin thinks of anyone *but* Padmé. Then the seed is planted and when he does sense he was there, he also rationalizes that she sees multiple people a day and there could be a political (albeit perhaps treason?) for his visit. (This is the scene we end up seeing that evolves into him admitting feeling lost). The Padmé Ruminations scene on the novel explicitly has him thinking he doesn't care of any supposed treachery or deceit from her or the Jedi. He just wants to save her and his love for her weights more than any loyalty to the Order. It makes the part of him choking her SO SAD. It really drives the point of how twisted the Dark Side had corrupted him, we had never even seen him consider hurting her. And like you said, even then, she could've turned him back. She really could have.
The novelisation really does do a much better job of showing the reader Anakin’s real motives. It’s still shackled by the totally unrealistic 180 from “save Padme” to “rule the galaxy”, but that really can’t be helped. Lucas dug that hole by making the sequels first, so Anakin never had a chance to be his own person, his fate was preordained.
Well the original trilogy came first so they HAD to make him turn to the dark side in the prequels so he could be Darth Vader. He also did it for padme and we she "died" His anger was still their and he stayed a sith.
Does anybody feeling to understand what is like to love for so long to see someone died of a broken heart turned into full of pain and the sarrow becoming a deep tragedy can forever take time to heal a very deep wound inside before dying a peaceful death?
His son comes back to him and brings his heart out so he can feel completed and rest 💖 it’s such a beautiful ending. Padme’s love carried down through their son and she ultimately still played a hand in saving him at the end
It's really depressing to turn into a alcoholic and started to smoke and taken painkillers addiction wait a minute sorry I was thinking of Max Payne 3.
A lot of people claim that part with Clovis is proof that Anakin didn't love Padme and just viewed her as a possession, but I don't see it as that. Yeah, his reaction was extreme and he lost control, but honestly, the guy kissed her when she was saying "NO!" quite clearly and audibly. That's a forced kiss at best, sexual harassment at worst. If he hadn't walked in then, how far would Clovis have gone? Might he have sexually assaulted her? No wonder Anakin was pissed, and even in the other scenes I don't think he's trying to be controlling, he just wants to protect her. Its in his nature to want to help and protect people, even being overprotective.
I agree with you we have no idea how far Clovis would've gone so it definitely makes sense and arguably justifiable for Anakin to react like that. Plus Anakin has a hard time controlling his anger so seeing someone he loves being in that position will tip him towards the edge. In addition many couples would react aggressively if they saw someone doing that to one another.
TCW is like fanfiction (well I think Filoni wrote most of it so I guess it's fanfic), they made the trio so Out of Character! compare the 3D one with the 2D one, even a short microseries gets the characters better than a 7 season one.
@@sky_saga You might think its *like* fanficiton but it is counted as canon and George Lucas was heavily involved. I don't agree with everything in the series either but there you have it.
Anakin was the chosen to bring balance to the force, and in the very end he did, by protecting Luke from Darth Sidious. Padme was right, there was good in him still.
I like the fact that Clone Wars show that they have issues like other couples, and how jealous can Anakin get. Also the line "I demand as your husband" show that they were a bit toxic, and with everything that happened in Revenge of the Sith you can see how Anakin can go as far as losing his mind and trying to kill her.
@@Afroricanz84 Disney+, its called Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Released on 2008! I recommend watching it. Its between attack of the clones (epidode 2) and revenge of the sith (episode 3)
I just love the detail and story/character building that the clone wars provides. So much foreshadowing to Anakin falling to the darkside. The episodes with Clovis are just so interesting for Padme and Anakin.
he actually didn't, yeah he choked her and that's like not ok. BUT. he knew she was alive, and despite his hatred he still loved her. she wasn't getting proper care for her pregnancy in order to hide it and she was effected by having her children so early. there is also a theory that palpatine took her life force in order for vader to suffer more. so no technically, anakin did not kill padme.
My heart 💔😭 It's the most tragically beautiful love affair. Ever since I was a kidcand still today Padme and Anakin love story will remain my favorite.
It is actually really interesting how the Force worked. It showed Anakin that the love of his life, “an angel”, will die. So to protect her he goes to the pitts of hell, he becomes something he swore to destroy. And what it lead to? In his rage, he kills her. Not directly - but by killing their love for each other It also makes me think Jedi didn’t allow “love” and marriage - they saw that those emotions can lead to Dark Side Sith, as Dark Sidious, indeed used those emotions for their own purposes And what happened? Both Jedi and Sith were destroyed because of it. Jedi because Anakin loved Padme so much, and Sith because he understood his love for his child (kids). So there was balance in the force. No more fighting between its two sides. Love brought peace
I love the scenes when Padme tells Anikin she’s pregnant along when they are both across from each other by the city contemplating on what they will do by the end of the war.
SAME LIKE ANAKIN NEEDS TO CHILL IF ONLY HE WASN'T SCARED THAT HIS WIFE WHOULD DIE BUT HE STREESED HER OUT TO THE POINT WERE SHE DIES AND IT HIS FAULT AND HE DIDN'T EVEN COME AND SEE HER SHE WAS GIVING BIRTH TO HIS KIDS DAMN ANNIE IS BITCH FUCK HIM

I think it's so cute how the first thing he asked when he became Vader was, "Where's Padmé?" "Is she alright? Is she safe?" When I watched that part of the movie with my brother, I exclaimed, "Awww!" cuz he was still thinking of her. She was right: there WAS still good in him. @@ThePunisherSpider I'm gonna be that person who defends their ship-
I don't think Anakin (in that part, cause yes it was toxic near the end of Padme's life) was exactly toxic, because he still wanted what was best for her, but he was overprotective and very controlling because his fear was overwhelming him and causing him to overreact and doubt Padme's ability to protect herself.
@@ThePunisherSpider Anakin didn't have anyone to teach him how relationships work, or to even show him, he had to figure it out all by himself, while being told that relationships are bad by the jedi order
Such a tragedy
Big events like “I don’t like sand” 😂 I love them though
In the movies Anakin seems whiny like Padme's death is the only reason he tries to join the dark side, but with the clone wars we seem him as a general losing faith slowly in the order which has betrayed his trust numerous times, especially with the departure of Ahsoka and their failure to own up to it. Also, it's extremely unfair to trash on Hayden for the cringey dialogue because either Anakin was MEANT to be like this at the time.
I would shipped Anakin and Padme over Rey and Kylo seriously.
Why not both bby??
@@cs-zr9xy cause one couple actually goes through struggles together and actually contributed to the franchise and the other was one of the reasons why the sequels suck ass

Padme lost Anakin to the Dark Side of the force after she died with broken heart.
But it was their son that saved him
You know if you play the castlsvania Lord of shadow games then you know the characters are similar Gabriel Belmont/Anakin Skywalker,Dracula/Darth Vader,Marie/Padme,Trevor Belmont/Luke Skywalker, Zobeck/Palpatine and Satan/Darth Sidious.

yoda was right, fear is the path to the dark side. fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering. wise words there
those are all human and valid emotions tho. the jedi order went too far, they feared the dark side so much that they were the reason it became so powerful in the end. anakin needed help, the jedi only cared about their rules.

YEAH I WASN'T PLANNING ON CRYING TODAY BUT HERE WE GO
I feel so bad, he joined the dark side to save padme and even in his anger he still loved her. That is the absolute worst outcome of any events and I still feel really bad if it is fictional or not
Savannah Geer at least he had 2 kids and he would have a grandson

Savannah Geer true

Every time I see Padmé die I literally cry my eyes out because she and Anakin never got a happy ending and she never got to meet Luke and Leia.
well she technically met them she just didn't get to raise them!
They should have left it in that was always the weirdest part of that scene to me
The novelisation really does do a much better job of showing the reader Anakin’s real motives. It’s still shackled by the totally unrealistic 180 from “save Padme” to “rule the galaxy”, but that really can’t be helped. Lucas dug that hole by making the sequels first, so Anakin never had a chance to be his own person, his fate was preordained.
This really is Shakespeare's Othello set in the Star Wars universe
He’s like posing behind her like he’s a super hero come to save the day or a disapproving dad. It’s so odd.
15:05 can't blame Anakin really, not with Obi-Wan sitting back there asserting his dominance. He even has the high ground...
WHY DID THEY HAVE TO KILL PADMÉ AND MAKE ANAKIN TURN TO THE DARK SIDE?!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree and I think it wasn’t entirely well written
I agree with you we have no idea how far Clovis would've gone so it definitely makes sense and arguably justifiable for Anakin to react like that. Plus Anakin has a hard time controlling his anger so seeing someone he loves being in that position will tip him towards the edge. In addition many couples would react aggressively if they saw someone doing that to one another.
Well those people probably don’t have wives or husbands. I would’ve done the same thing as Anakin lol.
TCW is like fanfiction (well I think Filoni wrote most of it so I guess it's fanfic), they made the trio so Out of Character! compare the 3D one with the 2D one, even a short microseries gets the characters better than a 7 season one.

I like the fact that Clone Wars show that they have issues like other couples, and how jealous can Anakin get. Anakin: From a Kid to a Adult

It is actually really interesting how the Force worked. It showed Anakin that the love of his life, “an angel”, will die. So to protect her he goes to the pitts of hell, he becomes something he swore to destroy. And what it lead to? In his rage, he kills her. Not directly - but by killing their love for each other
It also makes me think
Jedi didn’t allow “love” and marriage - they saw that those emotions can lead to Dark Side
Sith, as Dark Sidious, indeed used those emotions for their own purposes
And what happened? Both Jedi and Sith were destroyed because of it. Jedi because Anakin loved Padme so much, and Sith because he understood his love for his child (kids). So there was balance in the force. No more fighting between its two sides. Love brought peace
